As a native New Yorker, I was so happy to find our new local pizza place in Kendall Park was up to standards! Texture, flavor, convenience, variety, everything you need! The dining room itself is so cute and cozy. A lovely scene of Italy painted on the wall with fancy tablecloths and china set up for a lovely evening out, if you're looking for a bit more classy. We have met the same server several times now, who gladly shared the history of the restaurant and spoke with our father in law in Italian! It made his day to have a piece of home here in our town. We have been getting Dusals for a couple weeks now for work lunches. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a fluke before i reviewed. The pizza is AMAZING! Huge pizzas with perfect flavor. And now after 42 years on this earth i can say i found the BEST cheesesteak there is. Its at Dusals. Loaded with meat and cheese and a very fair price, they clearly aren't trying to get rich off cheesteaks (like every place in philly that's 15$ for no meat on the bread) Just amazing food at great prices! Dusal's has been a staple for me since I can remember. I grew up around the corner and over the years Dusal's has been in and out of my regular pizza rotation, whether for Friday night take out or for football Sunday wings and pizza. When I had to go gluten free I stopped for a while but when they added gf crust as an option I came back with open arms. Ordering is always a pleasant experience and the people that work there are always thankful for your business. I rarely order delivery, and prefer to pick up myself so I cannot speak to their delivery service. My go to is a plain cheese pizza or a white pizza with spinach and garlic. My bf likes their meatball parm sub and my sister is a fan of their burgers. My friend is a huge fan of their fries (whenever I visit him I make sure I pick up an order for him). Just an update to concur/re-emphasize with Apple F. - Friday nights are brutal : ) order EARLY and ask to pick-up if you can. They are simply very popular and get swamped with orders. Pizza is the same - New Jersey style crust (thick enough to have a chew to it, thin enough to not taste like bread), sauce is good, cheese is heavily applied. Got takeout during COVID. Non-pizza review. Good Italian food comes in big portions, so we ordered one pasta dish to share between two people! We were looking for something simple but hearty. So we got the fettuccine alfredo, which came with a small loaf of Italian sandwich type bread and a simple salad. Fettuccine alfredo was buttery and cheesy and was enough for us two. Bad experience all around. No greeting, no sign whatsoever we were welcome. Had a family dinner here and found the service very slow, waitress rude and inattentive, food delivery slow and some dishes good, others so-so. I planned to call the next day to complain about the rude and slow service but after seeing several reviews where manager not interested in hearing from customers, I saved myself the aggravation. A 20% gratuity was added - as we were a group i understand this but in this case, no wonder the waitress was rude, her 20% was guaranteed. I respect and appreciate wait staff and always tip above the 20% knowing what a difficult (and sometimes demanding) job it is. Obviously this wasn't done at Dusals. Anxious to leave, I signed for the tab noting the gratuity was addressed. To add insult to injury, i realized later, a 4% "service charge" was added to the total (tab plus tax plus gratuity PLUS 4%). I did not see any explanation of this anywhere and again, to save further aggravation, I am just assuming this is a credit card bank charge "grab-back". As such, Dusals should should make this well known or not accept credit cards. Aggravation all around. Very disappointing for a local business. read more

Walking in I wasn't sure what to expect. This place is really a glorified, overpriced pizzeria. However, as we pass it everyday Hubby and I felt we should at least give it a shot. We both grew up in Brooklyn and are familiar with what a neighborhood "Red Sauce" Italian restaurant should be able to handle. I ordered linguine with White Clam Sauce and he ordered the Carbonara with penne (Hubby prefers penne to every other pasta shape) simple? No? When the wilted, obviously prepared from the previous day, salads arrived with a packet of Ken's Salad Dressing perched delicately on top, I knew we were doomed. Actually, Ken's isn't that bad..... The main dishes arrived after an exceptionally long interval and the Carbonara looked like pasta mixed with scrambled eggs. I really cannot ever remember having been served a more horrible version of this simple dish. We exchanged glances, you know, that awkward "Should we send it back or just cut our losses" look. Was it worth risking the derision of the server? Possibly incurring the wrath of the person you fear most....THE CHEF! He, who had the ability to destroy your meal in retribution. C'mon we have all seen " Waiting"... if you haven't, definitely watch it. Funny AF! Anyway, the dish was inedible do we did have to send it back. The snarky Waitress asked if we would like the "Chef" to prepare another and my husband stated as nicely as possible "Do you think it will be made the same way". (I'm posting the pic for clarification). When she returned from the kitchen she said the chef felt that the dish would come out the same way again. We went with the Shrimp Parmigiana instead. I don't want to go on about how mediocre my dish was or how watery and bland the marinara served with the Shrimp was. Occasionally, one can be surprised by a sterling, wonderful local joint that you don't even want to post about because you want to savor that restaurant as your own private little jewel. This is so not one of those places. Try it at your own peril. Sorry, this DuSal's sucks and is over priced. Try another pizzeria/Italian restaurant. read more

Terrible Pizza, Rude Manager I am local to this place and sometimes I order pizza from here. Had worst experience with the order I did last Friday. Order large cheese pizza with onion topping. Onion were too THICK and had a weird smell on it. It was too late in the night to call and drop the complaint about it. Next morning I called and spoke to their manager "Antonio" explaining him the problem with the pizza. He was very very rude telling me that the onion were sautéed every morning and nobody else had a problem with it and he can't do anything about it. I didn't encouraged the conversation with the attitude that was thrown on him felt offended and let it go. I think they need to learn how to talk to their customers. I was very polite in explaining him the problem and I didn't see any reason for the rude behavior. They need to understand that customer take an effort to make a call to help them with the bitter experience for their improvisation in future. Hosted a luncheon for ten people on Friday. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Table was set beautifully and our waitress was organized competent and gracious. We called the guy said he's a minute away there was traffic meanwhile we live a minute away. Then he still isn't here. Such a change and a disappointment for dining in. Won't return. I am sure takeout for pizza or wings is fine. Met friends anticipating the old Dusals but first impression was the server, unfriendly but maybe a bad day, it's ok. Then salads with packets of dressing thrown within the lettuce vs on the side, not the most sanitary. Bread was stale and when we asked for the olive oil herb to accompany, we were told it clogs the dishwasher. Ok The entrees were not as well prepared as in the past. The chicken francais was oily , the lasagna sauce was extremely salty and watery and the ziti pasta was cooked hard on the chicken parm. Mostly picking through what was edible and packed the leftovers for a friends dog. Quite disappointing. In the end because we paid via credit card they added a 4% surcharge for not paying cash. If that was posted anywhere, we didn't see it nor were we informed.. overall with the higher prices (as expected) it's the way things are now, but $30 entrees with this sub par service , stale food , and to be surcharged. Been coming here for 25 years and today (Labor Day) was not the best. I had manicotti which was just so so. I say this because the ricotta cheese was stiff and not creamy, absolutely no flavor at all. Now for the really bad part. The red sauce was bitter and this is the first time this has ever happened. I have always loved their sauce. My husband mentioned this to me also that the taste of sauce was not the same. He had Veal Saltimbocca which he raved about. However, his side of penne had very little sauce. Perhaps that was a good thing! Now for the waitress....I do not know her name but she lost 30 lbs. How do I know this? She had a very long conversation with the table next to us and we couldn't help but hear this. After that conversation, another couple came in and she preceded to engage in a conversation with them for 13 minutes ( I timed it). Not once did she come to our table to ask if everything was okay. So we had to wait for our check until she finished her conversations. This is totally unacceptable of a waitress. We still gave the usual tip of 20% because the bus boys were attentive. I gave 3 stars only because of my husbands veal was excellent. We will give this place one more chance and if they changed the sauce it will be our last time. read more

We ordered their brooklyn style special pizza and penne vodka with chicken. Thinking what could go wrong :) BIG MISTAKE! Pizza was ridiculously over prized in the first place. And the taste was nowhere what we expected. But that was just the start! Out of the things we ordered, I would say the Pizza was still good. Penne Vodka with chicken. This in my opinion is the safest dish to order at an italian place. Not a Dusal's though. The pasta came so bland and the sauce was so thin.. we had to throw the most of it away. And Finally the desserts! Tiramisu was not at all tasting like a tiramisu and the Grandma's Cake was horrible! All in all, Overpriced restaurant with really no good taste. I have been a customer for years. I have to say it's not what it used to be. We were there last-night the waitress was not the nicest person. We had over heard some complaints with the customers and she didn't even care about there complaints. They ask for the owner she said their both away in Italy. What kind of answer is that..... They NO longer give dipping-oil for the bread. Her answer was take it up with the owner I don't make the rules. "Crazy" also found out that they charge for extra sauce for the mozzarella sticks. They claim that what they give you should be enough. Really..... what kind of restaurant are you running..... The food wasn't even tasty. My friend actually went to the local Stop and Shop to get soda for the kids, because the pizza's weren't ready when he first got to Dusal's. It's a decent NJ Italian restaurant/pizzeria. My wife and I went there for an impromptu night out. I wasn't planning on her being home for dinner and I had nothing planned. (It was also an Entertainment choice--we had a coupon and we needed to use it before November 1.) We both had "typical" dishes--I had Chicken Francese, she had Chicken Parm (her standard). The salad that came with it was Italian Restaurant Salad™ with a house vinaigrette--nothing to write home about, but good. The bread came with a plate full of yummie herbs for olive oil dipping pleasure, which was a nice touch. My dish was plentiful and good. Hers was the same. For what we wanted, it fulfilled the task. The dining room was done in the style of New Jersey Pizzeria, with the obligatory "That's Amore" type music playing in the background. The service was prompt. It's BYOB, and they uncorked our bottle of wine and brought over glasses without skipping a beat. It was good, it fulfilled the task at hand (feeding a lazy husband/cook and his wife)...you could do worse. And the pizzas looked good. It was a decent weeknight meal. read more

Dusal's is a small, intimate looking Italian restaurant off of Route 27, and we wanted to try a place in the neighborhood that was family-owned. Plus, we had a coupon from their website that we wanted to try. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fairly nice, if dark. I'd say it was nothing special, and while the lighting may be romantic to some, it just felt weird on a slow night with few diners. I ordered the chicken alfredo and my boyfriend ordered a personal cheese pizza. The pizza was large for being a "personal" pie, and it was adequate in taste, but it was no better than a slice you would get at any Frank's Pizza chain all throughout New Jersey. The alfredo was sub-par to me: the pasta and chicken were unremarkable, and the alfredo sauce was greasy and lumpy (it had broken as I was eating it). I ate half of my meal and took the rest home, only to dump it in the garbage instead of having it as leftovers. I wasn't impressed at all with this restaurant, and even though they offer great discounts via their website, I'm not tempted to eat here again. read more
