I was pleasantly surprised with my first ordering experience from D & T Pizza. I haven't given a fair shake to any of the pizza joints in Monroe of late, but wanted to order delivery from some place new to me, and reviews seemed decent enough. I kept things simple by going with a pizza and garlic knots. The garlic knots (3/5) were above average, but far from the best in the area. They had a decent hints of garlic and oil on top, but the interior was a bit doughy and plain tasting...a bit more saturation of garlic/oil and perhaps a little bit more cooking time in the oven would have elevated the taste a bit. The cheese pizza (4/5) was impressive with delicious cheese and flavorful tomato sauce that'd satisfy any craving for your more traditional pizza. I usually find myself rounding pizzas in NJ up from 3.5, but this was a solid and deserving 4, which is a pizza experience I'd like to repeat and a place that i would recommend to others. D&T use to be so good, but since they sold the restaurant to Zenna's it has become horrible. I ordered a pie with half eggplant and there was practically no eggplant on the pie. The reviews on Yelp are old reviews there is a new owner now and they changed everything inside the place. They took over January 2025. The owner send out a mailing to all area communities with specials pricing. We went there on 1/11/25 and asked for the special the waitress was very nice and said she would ask the new owner came back and told us the owner stated the offer is not for dine in only take out. There is nothing on the mailing that states that. We asked to speak with the owner he never came over. We were there over 1 hour. They seem to accommodate the pick-up and delivery orders more than dine in customers. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. Also they have pick up service but the customers who pick up there order are parking in front of the store and there is no place to drive around them sometimes there are 5+ cars waiting outside. That is against the rules. Also there prices are high and you cannot get anything for $10. total after you add the drink and taxes. The owner should know that the communities around all have there own restaurants in there clubhouses so why bother going some place that doesn't honor there specials. They do not have a children menu either. My opinion is they want to be a take out and delivery restaurant. We will not be going back unless they change there way and be more friendly. We've been going to D & T almost weekly for more than 30 years but may not be going there again. Tonight we ordered a half Chicken Parm and a whole cheesesteak sub. We requested and paid for extra cheese on both. Not only didn't we get extra cheese but not even a regular amount of cheese. My chicken was burnt and the roll was hard on the end. I did a large pie, half with 3 toppings and half with 2. They got everything right, and I really liked the flavor of the sausage. My only complaint is that the crust could not hold the toppings, so the slices were a bit floppy. Other than that, it was really good. Some solid 'za! This area is littered with strip mall pizza joints, but don't overlook D&T for a classic slice. There are tons of slices to choose from - classics like mushroom and margarita and some heavier options like cheeseburger and chicken bacon ranch. I ended up with plain - boring but they did it really well. My only complaint was that the slice was a little undercooked. I usually like my pizza a little crispier. The chicken roll was just okay - the chicken didn't seem super high quality and the roll didn't have a ton of chicken in it. Next time I'd probably just stick to a slice. The service was fast and friendly and there was plenty of seating. They also have a full dine-in menu with various entrees and pasta options. read more

Terrible experience! Bad customer service! So they not only got my whole order messed up they had the nerve to tell me "it's not the end of the world" So here is my experience: I ordered a plain pie, A PLAIN PIE! With a side of French fries with cheese sauce on the side. I arrived in D&T 30 mins later to get my order, paid and got back to my car, so when I checked my order, I noticed they gave me sliced American chesse wrapped in aluminum foil, so I got back in the store and they told me they are out of cheese sauce and offered vodka sauce, VODKA SAUCE for my French fries ! SMH! I got back in car and start driving home, On my way home decided to check my pie just in case and "surprisingly " they fuck it up again! They gave me a veggie pie!!! UGH! So at that point I was disappointed, turn around and drove back to D&T And this is when I got to the store AGAIN and I told them about what happened and they explained that the girl at register put in the system veggie pie instead of plain pie, and one of the pizza maker had the nerve to tell me: "It's not the end of the world " with an attitude. Maybe it's not the end of the world but YOU GOT ME COMING TO THE STORE TWICE AND MAKING ME WAIT EVEN LONGER THAN EXPECTED, MAKING ME WASTE TIME , WASTING GAS AND GETTING A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT YOUR BUSINESS. The delivery time is very reasonable and the drivers take care to ensure your meal arrives intact and that your pizza topping aren't all shifted to one side. Please tip the driver well. I used to go to D & T all time that was my favorite spot until I moved out of the area in 2021. The place must be under new management. First the dining room was dirty & it had a foul smell. The server was rude and looked dirty themselves. They came to the table & asked if we wanted menu's. The server came back with two paper menus & now was wearing a black glove on it's right hand? One member of my party ordered a pasta dish and asked if they had italian dressing for the salad & the server went on to say you will need to pay $1 extra if you want salad because our meals only come with soup? But, in the mean time the server didn't tell us what kind of soup we had. We didn't complain because at this point we felt that the people of Monroe need to know about this establishment and their unsanitary, unprofessional, no air-conditioning, over priced and not up to good standards. We paid the extra money for the salads & asked if we would be getting bread? The server said yes, once your meals are ready I will bring it out then, we will not serve bread before the entrees are ready. So, I ordered a slice of pizza & asked if they could slice that in half so we could share this since we didn't have bread. Our meals were like something you would have at Olive Garden or even worst. Last night ordered an everything personal pizza, whole wheat, very thin, but they are generous with the toppings. (sometimes I get vegetable instead of the everything). Also ordered for my lady partner a spaghetti and meat sauce dinner that came with a salad. I got a pint Pasta Fazul soup. My lady partner made a side of spinach, garlic and olive oil. They did curbside service and gave me extra marinara sauce which I asked for. Maybe $30 and will be for two meals for each of us. Nice owner, clean! This is easily the best pizza/Italian Restaurant in the area. The service is always top notch. This is a review of a few visits. I have never had a bad meal here. For that matter, I have never had even just a good meal here. Everything has been exceptional. Things we have had, that have all been outstanding: Pizza: Now I am generally a thinner crust person, and their crust is a bit thicker, but the ingredients are fresh and plentiful, with excellent taste. The slice is actually heavy because they load up the toppings. Subs: Have had the ham, salami and cheese cold sub, and the chicken parm hot sub. Both were great. Calzone: My go to. I get the large. It is two to three meals. It is huge and packed with cheese and any toppings. Huge cup of sauce to dip it in. Sauce it great! Stromboli: Excellent. Not as big as the large Calzone, but bigger than most places, and JAM PACKED with ingredients. Another two meal order! (My significant other LOVES the Chicken Florentine Stromboli). Rolls: Have had the sausage roll, buffalo chicken roll and spinach roll. Again, large, generous portion, packed with quality fresh ingredients. Dinners: Served with salad and fresh bread. We have had numerous dinners. I love the Fettuccini Carbonara with chicken. This is just excellent. The Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Parm, Seafood Combo. All fantastic. Desserts: They have a good number of options. We have tried 4-5 different desserts, and they are all fresh and tasty. Overall, it takes a lot for me to give out 5 stars. I started to suspect that D&T Pizza was sold to a new owner/owners and I recently found out that this is true. I always like D&T's pizza but you know what? The new owners make an even better pie! I like that they'll ask if you prefer sliced or crumbled sausage on your pizza. And the previous owners, they owned that business for many years and it was showing, it was time to sell. Thank you Yelpers for reviewing this place and for the recommendation! This is definitely outstanding pizza, very tasty, very authentic, and a must-have while in the neighborhood! I'm not from "The City," but I've been there and I know what the pizza is supposed to look/taste like. D & T hits the mark perfectly. I went there for lunch on a Tuesday after 1:00pm, so the place wasn't as crowded. Since I'd never tried it before, and since I didn't know if I was going to be in the area again, I wanted to try a few things. I had one slice (regular cheese), four garlic knots, and a stromboli. Let's start with the slice. The pizza is what you would expect from NYC, even though you're in middle-north NJ. The pies are fairly big (not as huge as some places maybe), and the cheese coverage is ample. The sauce is noteworthy for it's flavors, nothing that sticks out or is out of place, and very solid all around (more on this later). The crust was great, not too bulky, not too thin, and has a great flavor that is complementary without being overwhelming. The garlic knots were very delicious. Each one is only a quarter, so you can get four for a buck! They are topped with a perfect amount of olive oil, parmesean cheese (I think), and a bit of garlic (although in what form, I cannot be certain). They weren't stale-tasting or overly dry, nor were they too doughy or undercooked. They were just right! Each one seemed a bit bigger up close, too, so it really was quite the value for the price. Try one at least; they were worth it! (Then again, everything was worth it). Lastly, I had the stromboli, but this was just too much; I couldn't finish it with the other food I'd already ordered. But it was quite tasty! The waitress brought me out a smaller side of sauce for the garlic knots, but the 'boli came with a larger side of sauce as well. I think this was the same as used on the pizza. Really good! You can pick up notes of basil, garlic, and other individual flavors, but definitely as parts of a whole, not with any one note dominating (save tomato, of course, but it highlights the other players very well). The 'boli itself had ham, salami, sausage, a lot of cheese (mozz) and green peppers. The dough was thinner on top, so it had a nice crunch to it. Overall, a very solid dish, a great treat for late-night eating later on, and definitely worth getting again! Overall, this was a great find in the middle of a strip mall, kind of tucked away on the side, but definitely worth the hunt. If you like NY-style pizza and all the trimmings that go with it, you have to check out D & T! A couple of quick tips, too... * They take credit card, but do not accept tips on them; this might be commonplace for the area, but I was not aware of it. Not a huge problem, but thought you might want to know. * They do not have alcohol there, but I believe it is a BYOB place. * I'm pretty sure they don't deliver, but you might want to double-check first, just in case. Maybe that will change someday, too. (I'd definitely lobby for it, if I lived in the area)! D&T must have decided to buy 55 gallon drums of Hunt's Tomato Sauce or maybe worse. It might be OK for institutional kitchens in a high school or assisted living facility but not for a dinner platter from a restaurant. Might as well use ketchup. The mozzarella cheese in their chicken parmigiana, etc. has to be bargain basement product too (try less food but better quality). Maybe they figure the 65+ crowd around here doesn't know good food from bad. It's almost a slap in the face. I think the food was much better in the past even under the new ownership. Did it change hands again, or what happened? I hope they take more pride in the product they are putting out before it's too late.
