I went out last night, by myself, for my birthday. I chose Dust Bowl for the beautiful atmosphere and delicious food. What I got for my birthday was an amazing night, even though I couldn't even have my "birthday beer"; the bar tender, bar back and fellow patrons gave me the best birthday I have had in years. Truly amazed and delighted with the food. A few of the old guy group met up and played bocce ball followed by an amazing lunch with great service. Wonderful food and a beer for around $22.00 if you don't count the second and 3rd round of beers. Clean, friendly, tasty as well as memorable. read more

December 6, 2025 - Turlock, CA We love that there's a huge parking lot next door that easily accommodates RVs. It's an easy off-and-on from the freeway, which makes it a perfect stop for us on long trips. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. By about 12:15, the place was full, so we were glad we came early. There were lots of beer choices on the menu. I would have loved to try a flight, but since we had a wine tasting event later in the afternoon, I stuck with a Diet Coke. Our server was very friendly and took our order promptly. We shared the Maple Bacon Burger ($22), a half-pound patty topped with smoked gouda, thick-sliced maple bacon, and caramelized onions on a pretzel bun with chipotle aioli. They cut the burger for us in the kitchen and brought an extra plate--always appreciated. As we were eating, we could smell the garlic fries being delivered to nearby tables. They smelled strongly of garlic--amazing, but since we had a social event later, we were glad we'd played it safe and ordered regular fries instead. The burger was delicious, the fries were good, the service was great, and the Christmas décor made the interior feel especially festive. I have been here a few times, always for an event (I am not a beer drinker so tend not to go to breweries). The service was always prompt, the staff friendly, and what I had was of high quality (sodas and food). I do notice prices have inched up a bit. So it's been a while since I've been here. I had fond memories of this place, but they weren't as fond this visit. We made a reservation through Google for the patio but when we arrive, we were told that our dog couldn't sit on the patio patio and we thought we were designated to the beer garden. I was fine with that but then once we got to the beer garden, we were told that we were only able to have a limited menu which seems strange because it's not like we were in a totally different restaurant. I didn't feel like Ted was welcomed, and he was definitely welcomed. Last time. We came to sit on the patio along with our other dog Thor. My husband spent the most of our visit here tracking back-and-forth to get drinks and food and he is a saint for that. He said that several guys had "several" samples which took up the line since it was only one person at the bar. I just feel like we were kind of shunned because of how far we had to sit from getting any food or drinks. They may want to post something about that on their Google page so that people with dogs know. It seems like things have changed since we've been here last. The beer and food were still good. I had the fish tacos and my husband had pulled pork sandwich never mind I didn't have the fish tacos because they weren't included on the menu for sitting far. I had the coconut shrimp and he still was able to have the pulled pork sandwich. I'm really sad that we couldn't have the cheese curds. I hate to keep pushing this point, but it seems so weird that you can't order what everybody else's ordering just cause you're sitting maybe 20 feet further away from the patio. it was actually comical that by the time my husband brought the drinks and told me that we had to order different food. Then he had to go back and order the different food and by the time he came back to the table, his buzzer went off to pick up the food. Then he went back to get said food, and by that time I needed another drink. So I ended up going back and getting the meal, which was good but the other drinks were in cans and I don't understand why they can't make regular drinks because the bar is literally like right there inside. We have past this brewery over and over again and finally, ironically, had to charge our Tesla, and it was right across the street, so we tried it out and were not disappointed. We are big chicken wing people and these were definitely top 3, and we have had A LOT LOL. They were very meaty, not too much fry, great sauce. The Ahi Nacho's were soo good, flavorful, lots of Ahi topped on it, then their mac and cheese was soo thick as well and full of flavor, my kiddo loved it. We came to grab some food while the truck was charging across the street. Took a long time to get waited on the waiter was very occupied with hugging and socializing with the beer tender behind the bar and where he would spend most of his time during our visit. Came in on a Sunday afternoon with a reservation set for 5 people. Took about a few minutes before they called us to our table. Our server was super kind and checked on us every so often, but gave us a lot of time to also chat with one another. The place wasn't busy when we first came in, but filled rather quickly with big and small groups. Once our food came, it was actually quite delicious and plentiful. Hey Dusty, My friends and I are glad to have found you. In this food valley called Central Valley, it's Not as easy to find nice unique places with good food that is not too expensive. Place you take visitors and it'll be a fun experience. I tell me people most things you got are good. Fun to try new things and not have to worry if it'll be a big mistake. Some items I've tried or seen. Spicy Hawaiian Pizza - pizza is bigger than I thought and the cheese is thick and stretches! Big enough to share for sure. Didn't finish it. Jalapeño & Beer Cheese Burger - this was good. Jalapeños not that spicy, more sweet bc they are candied. Love it. And no you can't taste beer. H.O.W Burger - shredded pork, coleslaw on top of normal burger? Ironically it was the coleslaw that drew me bc I wanted something diff in my burger. It was really good. Seen friends get fish & chips, Korean chicken sandwich, PB&J. They all looked good. Even the PB&J was super fancy with real meat. This is one of my favorite local breweries. I have tried several IPAs including Therapist, Taco Truck, and Dump Truck and I love them all. I make it a tradition to visit a brewery on my birthday, and this was my first time trying this one in person. It was a Saturday, so we waited about 25-30 minutes, which was not bad. We sat outside with the family and enjoyed the live music and kid play area. The pizza and wings were wonderful. Service could have been a bit better, closed out, and went to outside bar and got my drinks a lot more quicker. Great brewery and will definitely be back. Nothing beats fresh brewskies. I went here for the first time last night. I've lived up here for six years and I've always wanted to try it. I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere was very social. You had kids playing out with the lawn games. You had chairs and tables outside on the lawn, surrounded by lights the ambience was warming, you had outside bar and food. On a Sunday evening in Turlock nearby the 99 is Dust Bowl Brewery. They have a large establishment with ample parking spaces on the premises. They mostly offer their beers on tap and a menu food selection as well. I order the coconut shrimp for a starter and the fish tacos platter. The prices were accurate for Turlock. The service was very prompt and friendly. Sadly to say they do not offer any discounts or promotions as well. The ambiance I found to be lovely with the retractable windows doors. Probably passing on returning to this restaurant we've enjoyed many times. Usually this place is full of diners and drinkers inside and out. We were glad to see that it wasn't super busy when we arrived at prime dining time and maybe we now suspect why. They have put a LOT of capital and effort into expanding their brewery (now also a distillery) and marketing their products into grocery store distribution. Great! Dust Bowl Brewing has long been one of our go-to spots, especially for its stellar selection of IPAs--easily one of the best in the area if you're a hop lover. The variety is fantastic, and no matter what kind of IPA you're into, there's something here that'll hit the spot. The food also delivers, and we have our favorites dialed in. The squeakers--those perfectly crispy, crave-worthy cheese curds--are a must for us on every visit (or at least, they used to be...). Our newest obsession is the spicy Korean chicken sandwich: crispy fried chicken tossed in flavorful gochujang sauce, balanced out with a refreshing slaw. It's bold, spicy, and addictive. That said, we've been disappointed with the service on our last few visits. Even with reservations, we waited far too long for food, and items were missed entirely--including our beloved squeakers. Our server on the most recent trip seemed overwhelmed and visibly frustrated, brushing off our questions and even rolling his eyes. We get that it's a busy place and possibly understaffed, but it's starting to feel like the experience doesn't match the quality of the food and beer anymore. Still, Dust Bowl has a lot going for it--the indoor-outdoor setup is great, especially with the spacious patio and kid-friendly activities. Overall, this is a must do if you are in the Turlock area. The brews are solid and if you like seltzer, they have that too! The food has drastically improved over where they were when they originally transferred from the downtown location to the tap room location. Now let's talk about ambience, while the outside is amazing along with the yard to run and play, the indoor still needs some work. Let's pay attention to the TVs, make sure current and relevant sports are playing and add a few screens. The screens are taken by the brew list and we could use a couple more by the bar. Service is steady but sometimes slow in busy times. Still a place to see but could stand some improvement. read more

I wouldn't even give it 5 stars just based on the staff. We have been to this location about 4 times. The last time we were here was August 30th 2025 @ 12:39PM. The very first time we came here dogs were allowed. The second time we came here dogs were only allowed outside in the patio area. (we only came here once without our dog) This final and last time we were here we brought our 6 lb. Chihuahua in a completely zipped up dog stroller and sat outside in the paito area like we were told last time. My wife and I were having such a great time. Then it all came crashing down when one of the girls came up to our table and scolded us for bring our dog into their restaurant. And said we are NOT to take our dog out of the stroller. I told her I would never do that. She proceeded to give me a look and said "You better NOT!". I WAS LIVID!! My dog NEVER barks at a restaurant. He is quieter than a snot nosed little brat of a kid! I wanted to get up and leave. My wife calmed me down-sort of. So, we continued to talk about how they just ruined our experience here and we ordered food so let's just stay and try to have a good time. We asked a waitress walking by if we could have one of those table fans to keep the flys away, she said sure. She comes back and tosses it onto our table. I had to catch it before it knocked over my beer and land in our food. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT JUST HAPPENED. Our waitress was a total b*tch too. I was like WHAT THE ACTUAL F is going on here. By this time I was so upset I wanted to talk to the manager but my wife said don't do it because you are so upset. She told me "You are going to start a fight". Heck yeah I was! Was visiting in the area, and we had the dogs with us, so we thought we'd take advantage of Dust Bowl's giant outdoor space. We initially made reservations online for their patio. However when we arrived, we were told dogs were not allowed in the patio area, but we were able to have them in their picnic areas. Only problem with the picnic area is that it's a condensed menu and everything is served togo. Either way, we made the best of it. I ended up trying their strawberry seltzers, which was really good, especially with some pebble ice (makes every drink better). They were pretty strong seltzers so be careful when drinking them. For food, we go the oki nachos and a cheese pizza with jalapenos. I thought the food was ok. The oki nachos had potential but served in a pizza box everything got cold kinda quick. The chicken was dry, and it needed more sauce. While we ordered the pizza with jalapenos on it, we got it on the side so they weren't baked with the pizza. The pizza itself was good when eaten fresh, although the cold pizza leftovers weren't it. Best to finish it there while it's fresh. Overall, I really enjoyed the space and the drinks. It's such a large space so it's great for big group gatherings. they had plenty of picnic tables in the dog friendly portion of the venue. Plenty of corn hole games setup to keep you entertained as well. Definitely would like to try their full menu, next time, without the dogs. read more

Solid place to grab a bite when in the area. I came here with a group, and didn't know what to expect. The actual grounds were nice. While we didn't go out and about, there was a lot of space for kids, adult games, and more. We were seated quickly, and the staff was great throughout. For the drinks with refills, they were tended to throughout the me. The appetizer we got---the chips and dip assortment--were solid. I saw an item on the menu that piqued my interest, since the only other time I had been able to get something similar was at a well-known place in Portland. I got a PB& J sandwich, and it was good. The sweet and salty flavor profiles work weirdly well with burgers. While it wasn't the same mind-blowing experience as the one in Portland (IYKYK), the one from here was really good. A staple in Turlock. Boyfriend and I came here on a Friday evening. We made reservations online for dinner at 5:45pm. Place was full with no parking in the main lot but there was additional parking on the side. Check-in and service was really quick even though it was a busy Friday. Drinks came out and then food. I was able to sub the Asada meat with Al Pastor and the fries were amazing. Big shareable portion. The Korean fried chicken was alright. Boyfriend said it tasted more like bbq. Had sweet potato fries on the side. I've been here previously and their pizzas are really popular too. Overall, love this place! It's very open and the doors roll up so you can enjoy the warm summer evenings. It's very family friendly (dogs allowed as well). There are games. I believe they also have live entertainment Thursday nights. Absolutely recommend if you're in the area and/or looking for something casual to do on the weekend. Food and brew are delicious.
