I knew this going in but I think it's important to note that this place coordinates jobs for various independent contractors. The night before our cleaning appointment, the coordinator sent an email asking if we could switch the time frame to the afternoon. We were flexible so we said ok but the cleaners showed up at 9am the next morning. A man and a woman arrived with supplies and asked what I needed. I specifically said that I wanted the windows and window tracks cleaned because we just had construction done when I submitted my initial request with Dusty's online but this information wasn't relayed to the cleaners so I mentioned it again. The man cleaned the downstairs bathroom then had to go to the store for the woman. He was gone for about 45 minutes. After about two hours they started packing up. Since I was told it was a three hour minimum at $75/hour, I asked them to clean a few more areas. I felt like I had to micromanage and wondered what would have been left undone if I wasn't home to give direction. They did a good job but some things were done quickly. For example, the appliances on the kitchen counter weren't moved to be cleaned under or around. My daughter's room wasn't vacuumed, and some of the windows were left uncleaned. Two people showed up to clean and I gave them directions on what areas I wanted clean. It was a move-in clean, so nothing was in the apartment and I told them to not clean toilets. So they had to clean two vanities, two showers, a kitchen and a patio. In 3 hours the clean was pretty mediocre. If I had cleaned by myself for 3 hours I would have done about the same. For $225 I would not recommend them to anyone. From now on I will just clean myself. I had never paid for a cleaning, but thought I would give it a shot this time. After this experience it makes no sense. There was a young woman and young man. The young girl did a decent job cleaning the bathrooms and showers, they were definitely an improvement and the areas she cleaned were pretty good. They cleaned the cabinets and a patio and made an improvement on the spaces, but multiple areas were still sticky and hadn't been touched. The young man wasn't in a rush to do much of the areas and the young woman did a bulk of the work. Also, there were 3 bags of trash, they only took one. Overall they cleaned the place decently and made it livable, but I did have to go through multiple areas and improve. I would say they were ok, but I wouldn't pay for them again. read more

When I came home to see what his cleaners did, the whole apartment looked new! The counters and cabinets were spotless and shining, but what struck me most was how well the carpets were shampooed. After a year of living, there were black stains on the carpet and it had lost its beige color. After their shampoo service, my carpets looked brand new. For example, they emptied a container full of dirt in our trash can and got it all over, but didn't bother to clean it up. It was also clear that they were trying to run out the clock and were witnessed walking in slow motion to the car. Dusty did attempt to rectify the situation and we tried to set up a new cleaning, but it hasn't happened. First, the owner called to tell us they would be a little late. 45 minutes after they were supposed to arrive, he called to tell us that one of his cleaners is all of the sudden "sick" and that they won't be coming at all. The owner rejected our call back, and sent an email that was very apologetic. He wanted to know what he can do to make up for it. Unfortunately, we wouldn't trust him or his company in our house now, even if the cleaning was free. I called Dusty's, not knowing what to expect, and immediately was provided with great customer service from Dusty himself. He let me know the cleaners brought their own products and vacuum (score for me! dont have to spend money on cleaning products and have more time to look for a vacuum) and the price for the cleaning services; ( for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment with wood floors, would be somewhere near the ballpark of 200. I decided to give it a try because if they deep cleaned our apartment successfully, it would be worth the 200 bucks versus spending 100 or less on cleaning that is simply half-ass. The day of my appointment, Dusty was great about communicating when the cleaners would come. The cleaners, I forgot their names (pregnancy brain attributed to this), a woman (from Washington) and a young man (either a teenage or early twenties) were friendly and immediately got down to business. They listened to my neurotic cleaning directions and they did everything I asked for and even more. I am as pleased as punch. I can not stop wandering around the apartment and looking at how clean everything is. And they gave me such great service in such horrid hot weather. Thanks to these two amazing people (who had to put up with my nesting requirements) and in association Dusty, I feel like a giant load of stress has been taken off of me and I can now move on to the many other tasks on my before-baby-comes-to do list. The handoff was smooth - left keys under the mat for Jackie on my way out the door in the morning and got a call from Dustin later in the day letting me know everything was wrapped up. Payment was easy via Venmo. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got home but holy hell Jackie did an amazing job. Everything was spotless, the wood floors were glowing and she even slightly feng shui'd the living room furniture in a way that we actually liked better. I decided to try Dusty's because they got a five-star rating on Yelp. I told the guy who answered the phone that this was a massive deep-clean project as the tenants left years of filth and debris everywhere, so it was going to be close to an all-day job. On the positive side, he could send out a crew in just two days. However, their arrival window was from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. I was a bit skeptical, but I'm not in the business of cleaning to really know how much time is needed. They arrived a tad late (at 2:08 p.m.) and worked their butts off till 6:08 p.m. But there were a few problems. First, four hours simply weren't enough to finish cleaning. Second, they arrived with a carpet vacuum cleaner. All the floors are either wood or linoleum. As the saying goes, they brought a knife to a gun fight. Third, they had no shop vacuum. How can you do any sort of thorough job without a shop vac? There were crevices, where the floor meets the wall, that couldn't be cleaned, and cobwebs on the drapery rods that were missed. Fourth, they had no ladder of any sort, only a small step stool that maybe was 9 inches high. How did they expect to clean the ceiling fan blades and light bulb covers? Fifth, their native language was Spanish, and their English was not really all that good. Oh heck, why try to sugarcoat it? -- it was downright bad. This created built-in communication problems. I told the one gal to NOT clean the cupboards under the kitchen counter because I'm tearing out and replacing the whole system, sink and all. I don't know how long she was into cleaning it before I happened to walk around the corner and catch her in full blown scouring mode on those cupboards. Fortunately for the project, I did have a two-step step stool which allowed them an extra 20 inches or so to access the high shelves in the bedroom and kitchen. They also needed it for cleaning the ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms. However, they used rags to dust and clean the ceiling fan components. After they left, I went back over their job with a shop vac brush attachment to get them really dust-free. They did clean the wood floors fairly well with some sort of sopping wet swifter. I was a little apprehensive of warping giving the wetness of their approach, but it air dried with no apparent ill effects. Unfortunately, the tenants had left gooey or otherwise scrub-resistent crud on the wood floors which water -- or whatever was in the swifter mop head -- was totally ineffectual in removing. I'll have to go back with 409, or something stronger if necessary, to remove those stains. I think they should have done so but suspect they weren't prepared for that kind of cleaning. The bathroom was really disgusting, but the one lady pretty much brought it back from the brink of hell. I was impressed with what she accomplished. The tenants must have decided against a shower curtain because I now have wood rot by the tub that a contractor will have to fix. The gal doing the kitchen did a decent job with the linoleum floor and a so-so job on the exterior of the refrigerator, getting the broad areas really clean, but no so much with the crud where fittings met the sheet metal. She did, however, do an OUTSTANDING job on the interior of the refrigerator. It was so dirty, I had contemplated having to replace it. But she made it look almost new. (Fortunately, she didn't have to clean the stove. It was so gunked up and corroded, I had already junked it.) She also deserves massive kudos for the getting the grease off the kitchen walls. Before she hit the job, if you put your hand on the wall, pulling it off would feel like you were wearing a Velcro glove. You would then need turpentine or acetone to clean your hand. Bottom line, the message that drastically SEVERE DEEP cleaning needed to be done was not effectively communicated to the two-woman crew. They worked VERY hard and did the best they could given the tools they had, though I wish they had brought their own ladder, shop vac, and more caustic cleaning chemicals. When they departed, they mentioned mine was the third job they had that day. I don't know where they got their stamina. Would I use Dusty's again? (a) Yes, if it's just routine necessary cleaning. I was really impressed with the thoroughness and "elbow grease" that those two women brought to the job. (b) But maybe not if the place ever gets so filthy again as it was, because apparently no one expects that level of crud. Some years ago I had a similar situation and hired Merry Maids who sent out three women. The two from Dusty's did a way better job than the three from Merry Maids. read more

First I have to say the two girls that came arrived on time which was great! They came prepared with all of their own supplies and we're ready to immediately get to work.
