This is one of my favorite pizza places around. I usually walk to the place and get the lunch combo which is 5.99 for 2 slices of pepperonni with a soda, or 4.99 for 2 slices of cheese with a soda. I really like the thickness and texture of the crust. It is unique, it is on the thin side but not overly thin and not crunchy in anyway. It seems just right to me. I think the ninja turtles would have really liked this pizza. I have never ordered a whole pie, but I did I would be tempted by the "hot vegetarian" which uses that chinese hot sauce on a vegetarian combo. Its really delicious and I don't think anyone else offers that around here (yet). Their saucage rocks, not nasty meat wads like you find at some places, they slice it themselves. If you are getting pizza in Arcata you might as well give them a try. I usually check their facebook for coupons and stuff. I love totally low grade pizza like Little Caesars sometimes, but other times it is nice to have something good. I've ordered from this establishment a few times. It's been getting progressively worse. My most recent visit involved the receipt of a pizza which I will affectionately call, "swamp ass" pizza. First, it was undercooked, hence the name swamp ass. The entire thing was soggy and greasy. It reminded me of cheap lasagna i.e. wet, mushy, too much cheese and cheaply made sausage. I had to cook the pizza again to make it somewhat more appetizing. It didn't help much. The toppings were poorly proportioned. Too much greasy cheese and sausage. Second, the pizza was supposed to have red sauce per the menu. There was hardly any sauce to speak of. I've also had their wings against my better judgment. Ordering wings from a pizza joint is probably always a bad idea. Dutchy's wings follow this corollary. The wings were "swamp ass" too as there was no crisp to the wings at all. read more

I heart Dutchy's pizza!! They use local and seasonal ingredients, and the pizza is not as greasy and heavy as most of the pizza around Humboldt. Every time I order the staff is friendly, polite, and helpful. They deliver until ten unlike most pizza places in the area, and it's only 25 bucks for a XL combo pie! read more

I honestly did not have high expectations from what I judged as a college-town-take-out pizza place; however, I was pleasantly surprised when I recently ordered a couple of large pizzas from Dutchy's for a small party. On a road trip from Huntington Beach, CA. to Sunnyside, WA. and back, it has been difficult finding vegan friendly places on the road. On our way back home, through Humboldt, we found Dutchy's Pizza! They offer non-vegan and vegan pies, by the slices or by 12" or 18" pizzas. Although our veggie vegan 18" pizza was near $40, it was well worth it! The service was SUPER friendly, the pizza was delicious, and we had leftovers which was very necessary while on the road. We were three weeks shy of their table service restaurant being opened, so we opted for takeout. Definitely want to make it back to check out the new space! read more

Delicious pizzas! One of my faves is sausage and mushrooms with red sauce. The generous sausage topping is sliced thin, which I think adds great flavor to the sauce and cheese as it all bakes together. Awesome with beer or red wine. The crust is the perfect thickness. I also love the white pie for a totally different vibe. Goes great with white wine or champagne. If you have a crew to feed, Dutchy's Pizza is the way to go, with their diversity of specialty pies that can please a group. read more

First of all, Arcata has some very good pizza. Live for NY, and Westside come to mind. Dutchy's is my favorite. Very New Jersey thin crispy crust flavorful toppings. I REALLY like their Grinder. The pizza is really good here and affordable. The garlic bread could use more garlic but is still good and better if you get it with cheese.

The pizza is really good, but every time I've ordered a whole pie it's been cold, whether I've had it delivered, picked it up or waited for it at the restaurant. I know it's a new place and everything but I don't really think they have their stuff together yet. Price and pizza is great! I was band from delivery because I tried to get a pizza delivered to a park. They don't do that because of risk to drivers. I understand but I am a father of children who often play in groups of kids at parks. So my suggestion would be maybe make a list of "safe" numbers that you recognize as responsible parents who can be delivered to at parks! Love this place! My husband and I tried this place a couple of days ago. We called the store to order 1 pizza, but they have a $15 minimum for delivery, so we changed the size of our pizza to the 18 inch, it was perfect! We didn't really have any expectations because every other place we've tried in Humboldt County is pretty mediocre, that being said we were happily surprised! Awesome REAL New York style pizza, and really good. The pizza was delivered pretty fast, and customer service was great! We ate Dutchy's pizza twice during a week-long vacation...that's a great sign! Our group loved the cheese pizza, the 4-Meat and even the vegan (we're not vegan, but wanted to give it a try). It's been a while so I figured it's time for an update. I have continued going to dutchy's and their pizza has grown on me. I love the atmosphere and convenience of getting daiya cheese pizza. Really yummy pizza, I've lived in Arcata for a year and a half and haven't ordered from Dutchy's yet. I got a cheese pizza with mushrooms and sweet peppers.
