Taco-Tuesday at DV's with 3-shredded beef tacos & 1-ground beef taco. Must try.

Taco-Tuesdays at DVs is a must-have. Excellent service, chips & salsa are on point, & food comes out piping hot. Pictured are 3-shredded beef tacos & 1-ground beef taco.

Very large amount of good beans. $7 for 4. Sauce was so so and the servers warned us it was spicy. We used the very delicious salsa. My only complaint is the cleaning with fabuloso while we were eating...kind of spoils the flavor. All in all the cbs were yummy! I also had the flat tostada and it was great! Crispy tortilla but not tough, plenty of beans, lettuce and cheese. The tomatoes were so tasty and really set the dish apart from others. Chili relleno was so so. I will go back for the tostada and cbs. They start cleaning the fabuloso while we were eating so I couldn't give 5 stars. The odor tainted the flavor of the food.

I've driven past this restaurant many times and I had no idea how good it was! My husband's friend recommended this place to us. First thing I loved about this place was how amazing their customer service was! Diego was our server and he was on top of things and always had a smile on his face. The food was so good! My husband and I ordered their molcajete which has plenty of food for two! It comes with beef, chicken, shrimp, nopal (cactus), cheese over a base of delicious salsa. We opted for hand made tortillas which is $1.50 more than regular corn tortillas to go with our meal. My daughter order their Mickey Mouse pancakes which came with bacon, sausage and eggs. My son ordered their grill cheese sandwich. They both liked their food, but wanted to eat from ours as well! The inside of the restaurant is a nice medium size restaurant with booths or tables. The decor reminds me of decor you would find somewhere in Mexico, it was beautiful. We'll be back again soon!

I was visiting Ventura and stumbled upon this restaurant, and let me tell you, I'm glad I did! Upon entering, you're immediately welcomed by the scent of delicious food being cooked, fun music, as well as the host. Staff is very friendly! We were welcomed to our table with some tasty chips and salsa. My partner and I decided to share the trio fajitas - asada, chicken, and shrimp, with a side of rice of beans. It was soooooo good! One of the best fajitas I've ever had. The portions were great and the flavor was amazing. I definitely recommend it. I believe our waitresses name was Danielle! Thank you for the great experience!

Food is great!!! I ordered aguachiles, amazing, couldn't get enough of them. Carne asada plate, the meat was tasty and juicy. The DV's enchiladas, super good with super tasty meat! Loved the ambiance, playing mariachi music the way a mexican restaurant should be. The service was amazing until she had to go on break and passed it on to another young lady, after that it was 20 minutes of being ignored. But everything is made up for it and we left satisfied to return again.

We wanted to try a New Mexican place in town and found this one on Yelp. DVs is a solid choice. I ordered the shrimp burrito and my partner had the cheese enchiladas. My burrito was quite large and tasted good. The enchiladas were super cheesy. The guac was a bit bland.. needed more spice. The restaurant had an old school, typical Mexican place vibe. Service was solid and friendly.

I absolutely loved this place! They have plenty of parking outside and is a very large restaurant inside to accommodate busy crowds and large parties! They have beautiful decor inside with large benches. As soon as you sit down, they also bring you chips and salsa. Their portions are great as well because we started off with the carne asada nachos and once our main plate came I was already full which is not a bad thing. The nachos were very delicious and had a great amount of toppings from sour cream, jalapeños, melted cheese, and guacamole. I ordered the DVs enchiladas which are a mix of chorizo, potato, and chicken. They were so delicious that I could not stop eating them. The rice and beans were very tasty as well. Our service was excellent very attentive and friendly! This is a great place for families and they also have taco tuesday specials! Overall great and delicious place!!

A perfect dinner spot! This restaurant has a great menu with a variety of authentic Mexican food dishes at decent prices. The waiter took a while to place our order but, once our food was out, it was worth the wait, delicious!

SOLID MEXICAN JOINT IN VENTURA. Exactly the kind of place that I have been in search of since moving to Ventura county. Really good food at good prices, you just can't go wrong here. My partner and I came by on a Friday at 4pm and got seated immediately by our very friendly server. The kid was super nice and good at her job. She checked on us several times through out our meal and was just on it. We ordered the trio fajitas that came with a side of beans and rice to share and deep fried ice cream. IT WAS ALL SO GOOD AND OF GREAT QUALITY. The flour tortillas here are amazing. Made our meal perfect. Also, portions were huge for the price. We both ate and were stuffed. The menu had a huge variety including beer on draft. If your in the mood for some good Mexican food, please be sure to keep them in mind. You won't regret stopping by.

Amazing cochinita (Pork) from their website, I didn't take a picture.

The breeze while sitting outside was absolutely perfect and made the whole experience even better. Now, let's talk about these charbroiled oysters... BABE! ‍ They HIT THE SPOT for me! Absolutely delicious and definitely one of my favorite parts of the meal. The fish sandwich was light, flaky, and flavorful, and I really enjoyed it. The French fries, however... chile, I wasn't too crazy about those. They gave me bottom-of-the-batch fry vibes--you know when you fry a batch and end up with all those tiny little pieces mixed in with the big, long fries? Yeah... that's what I felt like I got. And I have to give a BIG shoutout to my waitress, Genesis (I believe that was her name). She was an absolute dream! She was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and made some really satisfying recommendations. Her service and expertise definitely added to the experience. Overall, I really enjoyed myself. The atmosphere, the patio, the oysters, the wine, and the service made this a beautiful dining experience. I'd absolutely come back!

They're also served on top of a small sized salad that allows for a light freshness when taking a break from the oysters. The service... Exceptional! Of course one waiter is assigned to you, but throughout your time, multiple servers to stop by to make sure you're not waiting for long if anything is needed! The environment is beautiful! Very fitting for downtown Ventura, but also not taking away from knowing that your very close to the ocean! Overall -- Amazing!

There's an outdoor patio with birds swooping by for free entertainment, and they'll even bus tables when you're not looking. One thing to note: The menu is filled with lots & lots of good choices. A case of indecision threw me for a loop when I read over the menu. To limit down my 7 first choices (yes 7), I managed to decide on something locally caught or farmed. My first thought: If I'm at a harbor, I'd like to eat fresh fish that's locally harvested. I was craving FISH TACOS but discovered that they're "flash frozen fresh" and not local. Then I thought a bowl of BROPHY'S CLAM CHOWDER would be good under the same principle. They're not local clams. The FRESH CATCH FISH & CHIPS, however, were caught locally (but I had that the night before so the timing was off). Quickly, I pivoted and ordered my original first choice. * CAULIFLOWER SANDWICH * It's locally farmed. An unsung hero on the menu, it's made with pickled onions, large, breaded cauliflower patty, green onions, lettuce, and pickles. It's filled with a roasted garlic sriracha aioli that adds a nice kick and pulls all the flavors together. The portion size is also very filling. * KID'S CHEESEBURGER * My kiddo enjoyed the tots that came with it and we added some extra greens for a small up-charge. Worth it. The portion size was more adult-sized so it's a good value for your buck. Other tasty items on their menu: WAFFLE STICKS, AVO TOAST, and BREAKFAST BOWLS. There's also CORN DOGs, Grilled Cheese, and Seafood Salads. See why it was so tough to decide?! After all that contemplation and heavy decision-making, I built up a three-person line behind me. It seemed that a few senior locals were battling a case of getting hangry. I don't blame them, but I also think a good tip is to not go there too hungry because it'll be near impossible to order quickly. So please leave your case of the Hangries for the birds. The sun, harbor, and that view should be a reminder to chase it away when it starts to bubble up.

I told Dear Hubby that fish & chips at the harbor seemed like a great idea, and he agreed. Initially, I tried to get us a table upstairs at Brophy Brothers, overlooking the water. That was going to be about an hour's wait, so we retreated downstairs to Brophy's fast casual option - On The Alley. Essentially, it's the same fish & chips recipe, so all good there. The line was short and moved pretty quickly. While DH finished up ordering, I went out to the indoor-outdoor room to scout a table. I wasn't able to get one against the window, but we were still able to have a water view, just a bit further away. DH was hungry, so he ordered a burger, as well as the fish & chips. He shared a small portion of said burger, and it was really good. At a Brophy's establishment, I think of seafood, but thumbs up on that burger! The portion of fries they provided were extra generous. We missed having Adored Granddaughter with us, as she would have help demolish those fries! We brought some home to revive in the air fryer. I only had water, as they don't really have any beverage options that work with my restrictive dietary preferences. (i.e., no caffeine, and low- or no-sugar). The fish & chips hit the spot, although the fish was somewhat oilier than usual. DH got a cup of their delicious clam chowder, which was served with their delicious sourdough bread. That I got to have some of, and happier for it. Sunday afternoon at the harbor made for a great spot to people-watch. There were lots of folks who seemed like they had come from points east to get a break from the heat, just like us. We all tend to have a look that doesn't portray "Ventura local". Lots of young families, which was nice to see. Made us miss our granddaughter, for sure.

It was a solid grilled fish taco with not a ton of pomp and circumstance. Just unadulterated goodness. Fast forward to my recent visit - it didn't quite hit the same though I'm sure my palette has since evolved. The World Famous grilled fish taco ($7.95) was good, but was only made better with the in house sweet chili fire sauce. Of the things we ordered, I did really enjoy the ahicado ($13.75) which is ahi tuna mixed in lemon infused olive oil on top of avocado and served with wonton chips. I love a wonton chip situation and paired with the fresh ahi, it made for a perfect bite. The guy next to us ordered several Parmesan hard shell tacos ($5.50) so I did too (with shredded chicken). The flavorful chicken was perfectly shredded so you didn't get unmanageable hunks with each bite. These were unexpectedly very tasty. Highly recommend if you like a hard shell sitch. Judging from the lines at 2:00PM on a Saturday afternoon, Spencer MaKenzie's is a Ventura institution even if I won't be thinking about the grilled fish tacos n-e-more. PSA: dining on the patio is the move even if you have to wait.
