WOW WOW WOW!!! It's insane how good this place is! Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to be this good based on the outside appearance, but it did not disappoint one bit. We did arrive a little late, so we weren't able to dine in but based on looks it's a really quiet place where I'd be a nice date place., the guy working there was so nice and encouraged us to order to go -- which we gladly did. We ordered a little bit of everything: shrimp, clams, crab legs, and all the sides. The only thing they didn't have was eggs, which is a little sad because a seafood boil with eggs is just top tier. But let me tell you... the flavor made up for it completely. Everything was so rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The whole time we were eating we just kept saying how good it was and how much flavor everything had. It was a total hit! We got so much food and the price honestly wasn't bad at all. I can truly say this is wayyyyy better than Boiling Crab, no doubt. I already can't wait to come back this weekend for round two -- and this time I definitely want to eat inside to get the full experience. Really amazing seafood boil at star crab. However at this location in Ventura the Asian guy didn't make sense to me. We came almost an hour before closing and he told us we could only order to go. Mind you there were other people sitting without their food yet so whatever. We order to go and I specifically say I want clams and he gives us sausage instead. We got to go so when I get back home I notice the sausage and not the clams and it's like what the heck. It's already too late to go back and be a Karen cause they closed! I decided on their STAR SHRIMP MEAL PACKAGE, which includes one order of shrimp and two choices from crawfish, green mussels, black mussels, or clams. The meal also came with two pieces of corn, three pieces of potatoes, and one sausage link. In addition to the meal, we ordered a side of rice, which paired perfectly with the Full House Seasoning sauce. The mix of Old Bay, Bayou seasoning, bold garlic, butter, and other spices created a rich, flavorful experience. I also noticed they have other locations in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside County. If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely consider checking out one of their other spots. read more

Not appealing at all. I've tried other shrimp boil places and so far, this one is the worst. I ordered 1lb headless shrimp with shell and corn (no eggs because they don't carry eggs). I basically paid for 1lb of oil/butter with powder seasoning, mind you I ordered the "full house" that comes with garlic and all the works. The rice was undercooked, still had a grainy taste. The corn was cold, but the shrimp was hot (that made no sense). They don't provide gloves even when you ask if it's in the bag, the response is "sure, it's in there." We ordered their Blue Star family bucket with shrimp, green mussels, black mussels, corn, potatoes with their mild full house sauce. We also ordered a side of Cajun fries. Everything taste so fresh and delicious! Even my young children love to eat here. Definitely a family favorite. The service is great! The minute we walk in we are greeted by a smiling face and we were seated at our favorite table right away. Came back to Star Crab after a whole year and it's still just as good as I remember! The food is fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The shrimp and green mussels garlic butter, cajun mild is chef's kiss! The seasoning is spot on and everything comes out hot and delicious. Service is still amazing too. Between the language barrier and food quality was the reason for the low stars. It's a older building in need of some TLC; even when you walk in it's weird because it looked like half the space is unused and there's an old setup still there with a large Mongolian barbecue grill. We were greeted and seated quickly. Menu had plenty of seafood options. We ordered a pound of shrimp with all spices medium heat, a pound of clams, a pound of crawfish and a side of rice. They set us up with a bib, gloves, bucket for shells, a little cup with salt and pepper and some limes. The seafood was really good. The shrimp was large and cooked perfectly (not overdone and easy to peel) and the flavor of the sauce was great. The lime was a nice touch. I haven't tried that before (usually it's lemon) but it complemented the seafood and sauce well. Clams and crawfish were good too. I was hesitant to try the crawfish but it surprisingly wasn't too difficult to open and tasted pretty good. The shrimp still is the best bang for your buck. The place doesn't look like much but if you take a chance on the food, you'll leave with a happy belly. read more

Delicious and great for the whole family. Sometimes it's hard to find restaurants the whole family loves and that can also accommodate a large group. After a fun day at Six flags we went for dinner around 730pm. We ordered the large $230 meal, I believe it's called the Star Crab. It's fed the whole family perfectly. The waiters were so kind and helpful. Service was very quick and attentive. Definitely suggest for a date night or family dinner. They really need to clarify the amounts they give you on the menu- we ordered 2 orders of 1lb shrimp, 1lb of black mussels, and 1lb of snow crab. Mind you, when we asked the server if it was one pound, she said yes.Once we got our food, it obviously wasn't one pound. We tried to get clarification, our server told us that the serving of "one pound" of shrimp, was 16! No matter the size of shrimp, you only got 16.(which obviously makes no sense). My wife and I went on a Saturday night and were a bit worried when we saw it was largely empty. However, the service was great and the food came out extremely fast (like 5 minutes after we ordered). Shrimp seasoning was great, they tossed in more potatoes than I expected for a side order, and our order of Cajun fries was huge and delicious (highly recommend them). I have a high spice tolerance and found the medium to give enough heat without too much pain, while my wife enjoyed hers as mild. Really good quality shrimp and snow crab! Served piping hot in the usual seafood boil plastic bag. We usually get 1 pound of shrimp per person with 2 clusters of snow crab to share. Some tasty add-one are corn and sausage. Their house Cajun sauce is salty/spicy with a slight sweetness to it. Very flavorful! We always go for medium spice and we find it perfect for the spice level we typically go for. Cajun fries are always crispy and flavorful too. The owners are lovely people -- great customer service and attentive. The couple times we've come here now it's always been very empty. So if you're looking for a loud, chatter-filled background I would go elsewhere. Wow, I just went here 10/13/24 on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Inside I only saw a family of maybe 10-12 ppl and my family gets told that we need to wait for 10 mins for a table. About 5 mins into waiting an older gentleman goes up to me and says they're "busy" and we need to wait about 20-30 mins....*crickets* there's only one family eating, there isn't anyone else in here. So I said ok, we can wait. He turns around and goes into the kitchen then comes back to us and ask how many people are in our party and I say 9. He then says "oh no, we cannot take 9 people right now." HOW?! There's no one here?? My friend and I were really craving a crab boil but have never been anywhere in Ventura and considered star crab as an option. When we walked in the entire place smelled like a broken sewer line. The smell was so overwhelming. We went at prime dinner hour; Saturday Night at 6ish and only two tables were occupied. Star crab doesn't offer a proper menu, just a white sheet of paper similar to a sushi ordering prompt. My Gut feeling told me to eat else where, because again the smell was a very strong g turn off.
