I went into Dylan Keith yesterday with long, dark, VIRGIN hair. I asked for balayage, and provided a sample picture of what I wanted. I explained to my stylist Trinity that I wanted to keep my hair as healthy as possible since I had spent a lot of time (more than 3 years!) growing out my hair, and not putting color in it. Because of this, I didn't want anything too light. My hair looked fine when it was styled and in the lighting of the salon, but the second I got home and took some pictures and got a better look I became very upset. I called the salon and asked to come back in, which they did accommodate. Trinity was extremely nice and personable, and this is nothing against her as a person. However, the technique she used gave me literal stripes in my hair, the color was not blended, and it was certainly not balayage. It was not AT ALL what I had wanted, and there was no resemblance between my hair and the picture I showed her at the beginning of my appointment. When I went back in (the same day) the owner met and talked with me, and to be honest seems a bit out of touch. She tried to tell me that I definitely did have balayage done and kept reiterating that my hair was beautiful.... which any seasoned stylist would know was simply not the case. It simply did not look good. She also made a comment about how my hair was "so virgin" and that was partially why it came out the way it did... I'm sorry but that's just not true. Virgin hair should be the easiest to work with. If you cannot do something relatively simple on virgin hair, then I'd be scared to see the results on hair that has been color treated. Jordan was the stylist tasked with fixing my hair, and I do think if she had done my hair initially it would have been exactly what I asked for. She seemed to have good knowledge and technique and understood what I wanted. However, only so much can be done to correct a mistake in one day, especially when I wanted to avoid as much damage as possible. My hair looked a million times better after I came back, but to be honest it is still not quite what I wanted and is not the hair I expected to walk away with after paying $300. The underside is still dark and not quite blended. Which again, not really Jordan's fault but also not what I wanted. I typically go to Di Cielo, and I've had amazing experiences with them and they are well worth the price. I would not have had the experience I did if I had gone with them, which I would have if they were open. I'm giving two stars because Jordan and Trinity were both very nice, and Trinity did give me a good haircut, but my overall experience was not great and I would not recommend Dylan Keith to anyone. EDIT: Anyone who uses Yelp even occasionally would easily see through this, but just in case I'd like to point out that Trinity has no other reviews on Yelp and she just happened to conveniently receive a second review shortly after mine (written by "Bella S") that directly contradicts my experience with her and the salon. Oh my, what can I say? I had a haircut appointment with Mitra! She welcomed me and gave me the impression that we had known one another for a long time. You feel so good and joyful the moment you walk inside the salon. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. She trimmed my hair exactly how I wanted it, and my hair turned out gorgeous. This review is specifically for the hairdresser Lilit. I called and made an appointment for a simple haircut. When I sat down I told her right away I would just like a haircut and don't want to do any color. But somehow she talked me into just doing my "root touch up and a toning". I'm blonde and I did need a root touch up so I said yes, however she kept suggesting she do darker roots on me which I kept telling her I did not want. (I'll come back to that) Once she put the dye in my hair after we had some pleasant small talk, she decided she would ask me some political questions. I told her I wasn't really comfortable talking about politics, this was the day after election so I'd rather not be stuck in a salon where I'm supposed to be relaxed talking about politics. She wouldn't let up and then started to show me videos on YouTube, that I would consider conspiracy theories, but that doesn't really matter the point was I asked her repeatedly not to talk about politics with me and she continued to and was aggressive about her views. When she saw that I was uncomfortable she became very agitated. This was about the time that she started to do a toner on my roots that I told her I didn't want/ it was darker. She kept saying my color was "dirty" and she wanted to make "clean". She turned the brush up right and started to stab my roots over and over and I made a joke that she was being pretty intense. It actually hurt and I had to wonder if she was taking her frustration out on my hair and my scalp. At one point I definitely thought I might just jump up and leave and go home and wash the dye out myself. I was so uncomfortable Finally, we just stopped talking to each other for the last hour. When we rinsed it out I could tell that my roots were much darker than I wanted she kept saying "you'll like it I promise". She could tell I didn't like it but said "I should just come back in to get highlights", which would essentially make my hair look like it did before. Then she went on to berate me saying I had more hair on the left side of my head than the right, but then telling me I had "beautiful hair" when someone walked by from the salon so she looked like she was being nice. The whole process took about 3.5 hours. All in complete discomfort in a place that should be where you go to relax. I tipped her well thinking I would take the high road but as soon as I got in my car I knew I had just had the single worst experience in a salon in my entire life. I have to say the other ladies at the salon were absolutely lovely so this review isn't for them or The Salon itself so much as this one menace hairstylist. Lilit. read more

I would just like to start off by saying that the owner is incredibly kind, accommodating, and owns up to the stylists' mistakes. But unfortunately, this review is not about her. As a woman, if you are thinking about getting your hair cut by Roberto, please be incredibly careful. I was originally booked with Alyssa, but was informed that she could not make it, and Roberto was her replacement. I asked for long layers with curtain bangs and showed him a video of how I wanted my hair. He cut my bangs straight, no layering or curtain to them. My layers wound up incredibly choppy, with one section on the right side of my head being a half ponytail's worth of hair that is incredibly shorter and choppy than the rest of my hair. None of the layers were blended at all, they were just straight chops throughout my hair. I had to call my friend from out of state and have her talk me through blending it myself, however, the right side of my hair is unfortunately unsalvageable. I am on the spectrum, so when asked if I liked it, I was too scared to say no (which is more my fault than theirs, I take full responsibility for that). When my boyfriend called to express my dissatisfaction, they offered to fix it, but I would prefer to not have Roberto do anything else to my hair. The only way that it looks okay is if I curl it, which is a little difficult for me to do on a daily basis, as my hair is very thick and I prefer not to use heat on it. As far as professionalism, as I said, the owner was very sweet and definitely cared about helping clear up the issue. Kali is amazing. She works magic. I bought a pack of clip-in hair extensions for my short, thick hair. Kali advised me that it was too little hair so she picked up additional hair extensions for me and then sewed them to my hair extensions to make them thicker and help two sets of extensions fit. She was super fun to chat with and took the time to explain what the options were for my hair. When we spoke o we the phone prior to my coming in, she took the time to listen to what my hair concerns, likes and dislikes. She also called me back right away. The end result was incredible. She lightened my hair to make it match the extensions and then placed them strategically on my head, teaching me how to do it along the way. She also blended the extensions and my hair to make the extensions look more natural. I will definitely be returning to Kali anytime I need extensions or to get my hair done. read more

I so wish I didn't have to leave a bad review! I spoke to the owner on Tuesday and let her know that I wanted to book a haircut. She asked all the right questions: how thick is your hair, what's the texture, etc. She indicated she had the perfect stylist for thick hair - Marissa or Mitra. I asked her to confirm who would cut my hair so I could look up pictures of their work. She indicated the stylist would be indicated on my emailed confirmation. I checked Wednesday, no email. I checked again Thursday - the day of my appt., no email. I did have the text confirmation, so I headed to the salon. They couldn't find the reservation, but the owner came out and indicated someone would see me shortly. I was seated with Alyssa. I was confused, as I was expecting someone else. Nevertheless, Alyssa indicated she could work with thick hair. I explained what I wanted and she indicated she could deliver. Between cut, wash, drying, and curling Alyssa spent 35 minutes on my hair. The rush job is clearly evident. My hair is completely uneven! When she was drying my hair, she said "if there are any pieces that need to be shorter, or if you need more layers, I can add them when your hair is dry." Instead of allowing me to see the dried product, she started curling my hair. I asked her to not curl it, so I could see the layers. Her response was "I already saw them, they look good." Like literally, wtf. I'm two months postpartum, this was the first "treat" I've had for myself and now I have to find another stylist to fix my hair. First off I would like to say that I currently have a wolf cut and I got my cut from Jenny D. and I have to say very nice, chill, and passionate about your hair. She made me feel welcome and asked me what I'd like done and then she started to through in some suggestions for what might look good. So she started and I am personally not a huge fan of small talk but she just started asking small question about my hair then I slow started to open up. During the whole cut she always makes sure you are aware of what she is doing before she cuts making sure that you are getting what you want. Since I have a wolf cut they are typically hard to manage because of the styling that you have to do and while she was cutting she throughs in some suggestions like products, methods, and techniques on how to style my hair so I get that same texture she gave me in the salon. Overall the hair cut turned out amazing and she started to recommend me products that are best for my hair and how long I should typically wait for my next hair cut. I went for a haircut about six weeks ago and it was so bad it still hasn't grown out well. I went to Mitra for a trim when my normal person was out of town. My hair was down to the middle of my back below my shoulder blades. I told her I wanted a trim with no more than 4 inches taken off (I know I had some damage). Well, I leave and my hair barely touched my shoulders. Not only that, but the layers were so chunky it looked like there was one single long layer and one shorter layer on top. As she was cutting, her initial cut was very deep and I asked her to retain as much length as possible (at that point I was getting nervous). Cutting what seemed like an additional centimeter at a time, she kept going until the hair was at my shoulders - a grand total of nearly 8-10 inches were gone! When I told her at the end (after mentioning it throughout the cut) that it was too short, she told me that it looked better and I should be happy. When I walked in the door, my fiance said "oh my god....what happened?" and gave me a hug because I was so upset. Six weeks later and it still looks terrible. It sounds like there are other stylists that are better, but stay away from Mitra at all costs. read more

Tasha does everything you'd expect from a stylist but goes above and beyond! My girl, Tasha, is AMAZING. Been going to her over a year now. I don't give this compliment lightly. I have naturally curly hair and often feel exploited by salons who know how to work with curly hair-paying premiums for cuts and services aimed at "taking our texture" and often the results aren't as great as promised. Not to mention, many won't tell you the professional truth out of fear of angering the client. Not Dylan Keith/Tasha! Tasha is so kind but also incredibly knowledgeable in her work, she has curly hair also and KNOWS how to work with it. I asked her about going lighter one time and she was very honest that it wouldn't be right for my hair because of its texture and how naturally dark it is. Most stylists wouldn't say that. I was so grateful. She does great color and cut across the board. Then, I was flirting with the idea of trying a Brazilian blowout to save me time because of my long work hours. However, I'd heard SO many horror stories about how your natural curls don't come back after doing the blowout etc. I was scared to really try. She sat me down, went over everything thoroughly including the science of it all and then pointed to her own hair (which is wavy/curly) and told me she'd had it done and needed to get hers redone soon. Upon looking at her hair I could see that her curl/wave was definitely returning. She never pressured me to get anything done but just wanted me to have the facts. I ended up going through with trying the blowout but was clear I didn't want to go to the extreme version just yet. Everything turned out fantastic and I love it. She was great! She went over after care and the products I'd actually need rather than trying to up-sell me. As you can see in the photos, I still have plenty of body to my hair but now it's manageable. Her service is quality but affordable!!! The salon itself is fun and clean. I know it's been years since I've been here, but I was recently talking about this experience with my husband and I realized I never spoke about what happened after I left my initial review. I got a couple of calls from the salon manager, basically asking me if I knew the story of the salon (I did) and trying to guilt me into changing my review. They offered to give me a new experience, which was nice, but the manager called me more than once attempting to give me a guilt trip which I thought was actually pretty appalling. The man did my hair and including the wash and dry took about 40 mins on 6 inches of hair and the specific style I asked for. I think it should have taken him at least an hour but he was chopping away so fast. I'm very unhappy with my haircut . I think anyone with this haircut would be upset. read more

I showed my hair stylist a photo of what I was expecting out of my visit and if she couldn't do it, please let me know. I basically wanted my hair to have SHORT layers in front and to continue with a feathered-like gradual layer. Well, the cut was NOTHING close to what I wanted and was more like the style she is use to giving. The balayage color she did for me almost burnt my hair to a crisp under the hair dryer and the deep moisture treatment was more like an everyday at-home conditioner.
