I was under the impression that on Saturdays they close at 5pm so I arrived at 355 and the manager at the door said "we close at 4" it wasn't 4pm yet so I figured I'd rush to get some stuff bc I get it, it's a Saturday and they wanted to close but it was so unprofessional bc I asked the young lady at the door when I was unloading my kid, if I could be helped still, before I walked in! she asked her boss and she gave me the okay so I quickly went in, rushed to get everything and left. My mother in law was with me and as we walked out she told me that she heard the manager was basically scolding the young worker about letting us in so late and to make sure she let no one else in. Which explains why the young lady was so quiet and rushing under the pressure. The manager was unprofessional. In another instance a while ago too, a gentleman didn't let me purchase anything because he said registers closed at 630 but their hours clearly state they close at 7pm so what is up with that? Very inconvenient.

I have MANY TIMES ordered deli sandwiches (not toasted) and paid with my SNAP benefits without a problem. But this one particular young woman continues to refuse my payment, and tells me that the sandwiches made in the deli are not covered by EBT. Her excuse was that the bread is baked! I can go to another location and cold deli sandwiches are covered, or if someone else is working the checkout, it is covered. She has wasted a few sandwiches by rejecting my payment, and it is not a problem with the card it is specifically her. I just wonder what the owners would say if they knew that this woman is making her own rules. Does anyone else have this problem?

BEST selection in Gaslamp for any food need. Quick premade good portion-sized meals (grab and go), fresh fruit and veggies, dairy, canned goods, sauces, chips, crackers, candy, deli, cookies, etc., they got it. Think like a Whole Foods-type bodega market. Fresh pizza kitchen in front (pizza looked really good too!), alcohol, and cigar sections as well. They have healthy, well-known brands too! Best selection in town, truly. The worker was also very nice and helpful. Clean inside.

I was having some physical problems and feel like it helped heal me in a very real and gentle way. I also really liked the herbal rescue balm for my stretch marks. It felt very soothing and I haven't had as many which is amazing since it's herbal and not made of chemicals. I feel grateful to find a herbal spot run by a local Mexican Woman where things are actually done by her, I've seen her make some products and she's very thorough and sanitary. Along with the fact that all her herbs are organic. I recommend coming in if you're looking for a special quality herbal shop.

We were legitimately excited to check this place out and support a local small business, but…read moreunfortunately had a terrible experience from start to finish. In the end, we paid $60 for merchandise we ended up leaving behind due to the terrible interaction we had with the proprietor. When we first walked in, she was nowhere to be seen. We spent the first five minutes wandering around alone, looking at the products, until she appeared from the back. My friend asked her about her teas and was immediately met with an awkward and abrupt "I'm not a doctor and can't give medical advice." We weren't asking for advice on health conditions; we were asking for some information on the teas she was selling. After a few more awkward exchanges we bought two and left. Five minutes later, two blocks down the street in another store, the proprietor shows up - had tracked us down - to inform us that our two 12-year-old boys had sprayed a couple of the room sprays that hadn't been clearly marked as "testers" even though they were sitting in a row of about 8 other "tester" bottles. She demanded "accountability" and escorted us back to her store, forcing us to buy two of the room sprays that she said had been used. The kids had made an honest mistake, maybe sprayed one spritz by accident from a bottle that didn't have the tester sticker, and now she was delivering a lecture and coercing us into buying two $15 room sprays she said had been touched! So, wanting this whole uncomfortable affair to end, we had the kids apologize and bought the sprays. Half a block down the street, we decided we didn't want to carry any of her bad juju with us, took the bag of products back and left them on the counter. $60 worth of products, down the tube. It was my friend's birthday and this woman had ruined our afternoon. No one should expect to run a thriving small business when you provide obtuse and awkward responses to legitimate product questions and then proceed to hunt paying customers down on the street and demand payment for merchandise that was handled lightly by two CHILDREN. Bad energy, bad customer service. We paid $60 for nothing. We'll never go here again and will tell others not to bother either.

**July 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more During my SDCC weekend, I walked by Michaela's Meals in the Gaslamp Quarter, which was right between my hotel and the convention center. This shop was just one street down from Ralphs and Vitality Tap so it was conveniently located. On Sunday afternoon, I noticed the space was open for business, so I popped in to check it out. It's a small spot with a staff member, a fridge full of pre-made meals, a little bar area with two stools, a cold water pitcher, and a microwave. The main business model is a weekly subscription, but I learned that the owner also keeps leftovers in the fridge for grab-and-go customers on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1:30-5 p.m. They also run a "buy 4 get 1 free" and "buy 8 get 2 free" promotion, which makes the meals an even better value. I assumed she makes an abundance and sells those for $10 a meal, but since I stopped by close to closing, I got mine for $5 each. I grabbed two to try because the meals looked very nutrition-focused and considering I ate basically garbage throughout Comic Con it was a smart choice to fuel up with real food. I tried a Mediterranean chicken over yellow rice and zucchini, as well as a ground hamburger-style sloppy joe-type meal. The food definitely leans healthy, and considering how inconvenient it is to eat well at SDCC, this was a great find. Since she has Wednesday and Sunday pickups, I'm now contemplating doing a preview-night (Wednesday) pickup for a couple of meals on my next visit. I'll be in touch with Michaela's for future San Diego trips.
