I ordered a bunch of skewers and had them delivered to my address while I was visiting. The food tasted great and there was a lot of variety of the different types of meat/skewer options. The wait for delivery wasn't terrible. I think the only thing was that I expected the food to be on skewers when it arrived, but they removed them off the skewers to put it in the boxes, but i really do like pulling the food off the skewers... I probably wouldn't get chives again, they were still too fibrous. But the A-cai was excellent. As was all the rest of the meat. :D I wish I lived closer to here so I could eat here more often. Be prepared to wait - this place gets packed; we waited about an hour and a half at 6:45pm and got seated at 8:15pm. The A-Choy skewers were surprisingly my favorite - their spice blend is delicious! Was excited to try a new skewer place in San Mateo but felt this place fell short. All of the skewers are flavored with the same seasoning it was a lot. Every bite was very salty and if it wasn't the skewers, the eggplant was more garlic than eggplant. Just felt like all the seasonings over-powdered the actual food. Service is super informal and casual. QR code ordering. I enjoyed the potato and cucumber side dishes. The scallop shell with vermicelli was ok, but perhaps overly garlicky. On the BBQ slide, I enjoyed the beef skewer the most, followed by the classic lamb one. The pork belly was dry. The chicken skin one did not really work, being partially dry and partially chewey. The king oyster mushroom was ok, perhaps slightly under done. The tofu skin roll with chives inside was way too tough to bite through. Don't come here. We came at 7pm and there were only 2 large parties ahead of us. We checked in consistently every 30mins. At 8:00pm they told us we were the next table and when we checked in again at 9pm, they said we're no longer next since a bigger table came... they gave away our table to a larger party that came AFTER us. My new favorite skewer place in the bay. My first time trying this place and it was surprisingly really good! My friends and I came in at peak dinner hour so we waited up to an hour or so. We first ordered their cucumber salad and it was so good that we finished it before our skewers even came. I decided to try their cold noodles and it was pretty good. The noodles were bouncy and chewy and the broth was a mix of a sweet and vinegary broth. I did enjoy it to help cut the richness of all the skewers. My favorite skewers were the stinky tofu, chicken gristle and beef. It was all super flavorful and a good portion size. Their lemon soda was also refreshing to pair with this meal. Overall, this place has quality skewers. I would definitely come back to try more on their menu! read more

Customer service was terrible. The place on Thursday night around 730p, wasn't even busy. The waiters wait till you order through your phone and the skewers start arriving on your table pretty quickly. The lamb was by far the best skewers. The skewers were piled high on the warming plate and the waiter didn't say excuse me and he just walked to our warming plate and grabbed and took away some lamb skewers, my friend had to count and asked back for 1 skewer speaking Chinese to the waiter. If the waiter came to the table and said "sorry but I believe we accidentally gave you a few too many skewers and asked if he could remove them of course we would oblige, but the way he approached and removed the food and then returned some was awkward and Rude AF. Then at the end of the meal the girl with the iPad asked for payment, I used Apple Pay and I wanted to "write in " a tip on paper and she said " Oh we don't do that" so I was forced to tap what I should tip. Well if I don't see the tax then I gotta do the math in my head and she's standing there staring at me they do this on purpose in hopes you tip too much. After the rude waiter earlier I didn't even wanna tip 18%. After tipping and signing I wanted a receipt so of course the long itemized receipt comes out printed on paper If you want to tip on paper tell them that, if they don't let you tip be in writing, tell them they won't get any tip at all. We finally tried it last night. We went there the week before on a Friday night. There were 9 tables ahead of us when we joined the waitlist at 8pm. This past Friday, we got there at 7:15pm and there were 2 table's ahead of us. Oh well, we sat in the car and waited for 45 mins before we were seated. Staff are all friendly and courteous. 5/5 for service. Food wise is a bit underwhelming. I've been to many skewers BBQ places in the past - Chinese, Japanese, and Korean style. All of the skewers they serve are pipping hot as they grill it after you place your order. For this place, I would say 90% of the skewers that they serve is lukewarm. What a turnoffs. Although they have a "hot plate" for you to place the skewers, it's more like a serving vessel than keeping the food hot as it is powered by tiny tea light candles instead of chafing fuels. As other Yelpers have noted, they use the same seasoning for all foods. So after a while, you feel kind of bored of the same taste. We ordered a ton of different items for the 5 of us. Nothing really stood out. One thing that is kind of shocking is that they serve Costco Nann and a few regular tortillas as "wraps". I would not recommend ordering that at all. Glad we have tried it as it's pretty cheap. Five of us is $175 before tips. We probably won't go again. read more

Be prepared for a wait as this is a rather popular restaurant . Everything is automated. When you come in you sign your name and provide a telephone number where they can text you to let you know that your table is ready. We came out on Monday night after 8 PM and even then there was a 15-20 minute wait. Having said that the food was well worth the wait. We ordered several beef skewers, lamb skewers, pork skewers, shrimp skewers, and even mushroom skewers cucumber--they were delicious. I thought all of the meat skewers dishes were excellent, except maybe for the pork. My personal favorite was the beef , although the lamb was a close second. I also really liked their cucumber salad. It was a pretty hearty dish, which had a bit of a kick to it and came with lots of peanuts that were in it. The roasted eggplant dish was wonderful as well although heavy on the garlic, The ambience is Chinese barbecue style, nothing extraordinary but that's not what you would expect in a restaurant like this. Came here last Thursday evening and it was a pleasant surprise! Their menu is very extensive, so we got to try more interesting items (besides just the regular beef/chicken/pork options). Price was very reasonable, actually it seemed a lot better than Prime BBQ a block away! My only complaint is that they seem to use the same seasoning for all of their meats, but it was ok for us since we like that seasoning. Will likely be back very soon!! I've been to a lot of bbq spots and this was by far the best one! Flavoring, service, and a great deal for a lot of food. We ordered 30 dishes/ skewers between 3 of us (way over ordered haha) The stand outs were: Lamb skewer 5/5 Beef tendon 5/5 Quail eggs 5/5 first time trying this! Eggplant 5/5 Fish tofu 5/5 Honestly this is the first time where everything we ordered was a hit. The only dishes I wouldn't order again are probably the corn, and fish (cause of all the bones). The cucumber dish was huge and even my husband who hates cucumbers liked this one- shocking. They don't take reservations ahead so we waited around 20 mins for a table. Went to Dynasty BBQ and had a great dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated in an Asian theme. Mostly individual booth like seating so you feel privacy. The wait staff sat us quickly and helped us view the menu on their IPad. We were having trouble with connection to the app. You place your order by scanning the bar code at each table. They will bring a print out of your order and tape it to the table. (Search for Dynasty on Google to see a full menu with food images) As dishes are delivered, they cross off the item to keep track of your order progress. Very efficient! Food arrived quickly freshly bbq'd from the kitchen. Skewers are place on a candle heated warming plate on your table to keep skewers warm. We had a variety of the meat skewers. Lamb, beef, chicken skin, chicken hearts, chicken gizzard and squid. All seasoned with a semi spicy but extremely flavorful seasoning. So good. We also had the bacon enoki, quail eggs, chinese chives and enoki mushroom skewers. All are excellent choices. I love the chinese chive flavor but note they can be a bit chewy. Two side dishes of the sweet and spicy cold veggies and the cold cucumbers made for a refreshing break from the hot skewers. My overall favorites were the lamb, chicken hearts, chives, enoki and sweet and spicy cold veggies. Bill came to about $130 for 4 people including 4 drinks. The place fills the need, plus has quite nice deco. My friend and I waited over an hour on a Friday night to grab dinner here so my expectations were really up, but the food did not disappoint. Definitely make sure to be prepared for lines -- you can only put yourself on the Yelp waitlist in-person, so get there early. Plus they gave us a phone call when our table was ready but were a little pushy about making sure we were gonna be there asap (since we went on a walk while waiting)? But once seated, ordering the food was quick (order online through QR code for the table) and we were served very promptly as well, so no complaints there. The flavor of the food was just so spectacular -- I LOVED the spicy cucumber salad with peanuts, the cucumber was so crunchy and refreshing yet also super flavorful from the sauce! And all of our skewers had a good amount of spice and cumin flavoring and were cooked well. My favorites were the beef, pork intestine, enoki mushroom, and bun skewers. I don't think anyone can go wrong with any of the skewer options though. I liked that the interior had nicely separated tables and booths so it was easy to have a conversation. The coolest part was that there was live Chinese music from someone playing a traditional Chinese instrument at the front of the restaurant (there was an erhu when we went, I've seen reviews of a guzheng too)! Spontaneously decided to check out this restaurant - so glad that we did! Smelled amazing the moment we stepped inside. We put our name on the waitlist for 2 people (4th in line on a Sunday night around 5:30) and got seated in less than 10 min. One word of caution for people sensitive to sound - although we appreciated that a lot of the tables have high dividers to make it more private, our table was next to the kitchen so the rings of all the orders getting placed and bells when food was ready were pretty loud and frequent. What we ordered: - Beef skewer: both of our favorites! Literally steak on a stick. Such good flavor, tender, good balance of fat to meat, flavorful cumin seasoning. - Lamb skewer: usually my go to order at other places - still delicious here, but the beef skewer out shadowed it :) - Bacon wrapped enoki: this was one of my favorites (though bf wasn't as impressed). Pretty much tastes like what you'd expect haha - Enoki skewer: can't go wrong with more enoki! - Veggie roll: this one was herby and spicy - a nice change of pace from the usual flavors. I think it was cilantro, chives or scallion, and some other choy wrapped in tofu skin. - Scallop with vermicelli: this one was ok - scallop a bit overcooked and there were some bits of shell in the sauce.
