This company is probably unlicensed! I checked the California board's license website but couldn't find their license information! The company was very unprofessional. The technician came to our place, after 1 minute Alex said he didn't know how to fix my air conditioner because it did not comply with the code. I am an architect myself, and my house was designed by a famous designer in 1964 and is a historic preservation house. Now you are telling me it didn't comply with the code. Are you the city inspector? I asked the technician Alex to show me which code it didn't comply with, but he couldn't find it and ran away. This company is very unprofessional, poor communication, no HVAC repair knowledge, and is the worst company among air conditioning industry. read more

They worth ZERO stars. I really had very bad experience recently. They are UNPROFESSIONAL, not trustworthy, poor customer care with bad communication and no tracking records/calls at all. The technician on the ground is too bad and no sense on how to behave to customers. They were supposed to fix my two units as per the request and my warranty company confirmed the same. Also, I double checked with E&B Mechanical one day prior to appointment date. They confirmed all good, your two units will be serviced, and the technical will have all the details. When this guy came to fix the AC, he doesn't have any knowledge at all. He was so unprofessional as soon as he stepped into the front door. He was not even willing to resolve the confusion their customer care has even though I showed him the call history. The same with customer care agents, they have no clue on who I talked to on previous day. The technician was complaining about access issues to the unit initially and not willing to start the troubleshooting at all. Then I had to show him how to access it and requested him to follow the same. I even cut the bushes near the unit for him. From the beginning he was talking about other services he had to fulfill and showing me how busy he is. I was wondering why he is explaining that to me because he is at my place to fix the units and I am not an HVAC expert to tell him how long it is going to take. He should have done proper planning and assigned enough window to fix my units. Finally, he just left the place without fixing my unit. You know how bad the temperature in CA is now a days. Please STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.... Also, if your warranty company assigns E&B Mechanical for service, request them to change to someone else. I am updating this review as someone from E&B Mechanics responded to my review. Here is the story - I made the call to my warranty company to as per E&A customer care agent suggestion (at 8:50AM) and confirmed that both units are added. Then I called E&A @ 12:06PM to make sure they received that request and requested them to call warranty company in case of any issues and call me back in 15mins. I did not receive any call from E&A as expected !! So, I called E&A again at 1:02PM and customer care agent confirmed that they were able to see the updates and I am good with both unit services. Also I asked the agent if technician will get this update and she said 'Yes'. When technician was here and started behaving unprofessionally, I showed this call history and requested to check with the agent who I spoke to and confirmed the update earlier. Alex B - I called warranty company again and confirmed that E&A received the request for both units. This is the real "two sides of the story" and your response to my review is not an excuse to the way your team behaved. read more

UPDATE: it's not my home warranty it's your markup on your fees. Please don't put it on them it's your expenses and how you've marked everything up and over your initial fees. Let's not be passive. How about providing a solution instead of going tit for tat with a potential client. ---- I am livid. This company was recommended by my home warranty supplier. First, it was hot, the guy was sweating I offered him some water - it was amiable. He said he'd come back 3 days later, it was 5 - no sweat. Then I receive a quote from Carmen upwards of $1200 - mind you this fee doesn't include the unit or installation but everything else including the kitchen sink. While some of the items are necessary like earthquake straps, they've up-charged me at least 50 percent or more. It's business, I get it - up charging is how we all thrive but 50% is egregious. So when I called Carmen to see if there's anything she could do? I mean I have kids, $1600 is hard to gather she said she'd see what she could do - which ended up to be nothing she actually said she forgot to include title 24 in fee - an additional $400. How do you forget to include an amount so high? The title 24 was actually included on the previous invoice now I have to pay for it ‍ See attached. E & A Mechanical - The email. - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Tujunga, California

Today for the first time in a decade I know what it feels like to have properly working air conditioning. E&A Mechanical/Southland HVAC installed our system over 10 years ago. Within the first month, while the A/C was on, we heard something explode, then water began leaking from under the unit and through the ceiling. When they came out to inspect it, they said we"stepped on" something. What B.S. About a year later we had cool but not cold air. They came out and said we had a leak and would repair and refill our coolant but charged us for the visit, repair and coolant. So much for any warranty or goodwill. We've had pretty mild summers until these past three summers. Our house never really got cold and they told us we had purchased a unit too small for our home (it's a 5-ton unit). It's only been the past couple of summers we've needed to run our AC but this year, I took advantage of LADWP's FREE A/C Optimization program and had my system checked out. Fast forward to today, and it's obvious they installed a faulty thermal expansion valve that never really regulated things correctly. Thanks Brody Pennell for making things right! read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Post # 1 On 8/5/22 technician Dmytro T. came out to fix issues I have in a condo with A/C system through my home warranty company. There were 3 items I complained about: 1. Water leak from evaporator unit in condo's ceiling 2. Temperature inside the unit did not get lower than 80 degrees 3. Evaporator motor was vibrating/shaking when "on" I met technician Dmytro T. by the community gate and while on the way to condo - I explained each of these 3 issues. Technician Dmytro T. mentioned on the way to condo that first 2 issues are an easy fix: 1. Water leak - plastic pipe drain is clogged up and can be easily flashed out with pressured air balloon that he had with him and 2. Unit probably needs more freon and this is as easy as "pumping the air into to car's tire" Upon arrival to condo technician Dmytro T. stated that condenser unit (where motor is) in the ceiling has no access. In 3-5 minutes, while technician Dmytro T. went on the roof to check the freon level, I personally removed 2 wooden parts from the ceiling and 100% access to motor was totally granted to technician Dmytro T. and technician Dmytro. T. agreed to it. Please see picture 1 and 2 attached. Technician Dmytro T. gained full access to the unit and was actually able to do his diagnoses. Technician Dmytro T. also stated that the freon level in the system is was little low. After diagnosing the motor technician Dmytro T. stated that the motor has a lot of dust on the blade and blade needs a cleanup. Technician Dmytro T. also stated that dust is not covered by my insurance contract which I totally understand. Honesty, as a consumer, I was not sure IF dust is the only issue and I asked technician Dmytro T. 1 (one) very simple question: what happens if he cleaned the motor/blade and the vibrating/shaking remains? Technician Dmytro T. totally freaked out after my question. Technician Dmytro T. accused me of not trusting his diagnoses. That all happened before me AND 2 tenants living in this this condo. Technician Dmytro T. stated he already had 10 more A/C service calls to do. Technician Dmytro T. also stated HE IS NOT EVEN INTERESTED IN DOING HIS JOB AND IN COMPLETING THIS SERVICE CALL (I just could not believe that) and technician Dmytro T. IS PERSONALLY CANCELLING THIS (MY) SERVICE CALL HIMSELF!!! It was clear to me and the tenants technician Dmytro T. was looking for a reason NOT to do this service call. I politely asked technician Dmytro T. if he can at least fix the drain leak? The answer technician Dmytro T. gave me was - NO. I politely asked technician Dmytro T. if he can at least add a little bit of freon, so the tenants (with 2 (two) kids) have cool air? The answer technician Dmytro T. gave me was - NO. I was very polite myself and totally did not expect such as rude, vulgar and inappropriate behavior from technician Dmytro T. When technician Dmytro T. left the condo - I received an e-mail from E & A MECHANICAL, INC. with invoice attached. That is where technician Dmytro T. made his first (there will be more) FALSE statement LYING about him not being able to access the unit. This is not a document of record. Please see invoice attached. NOTHING was mentioned about water leak. NOTING was mentioned about low freon - both easy issues to fix that technician Dmytro T. now totally refused to do. About an hour later I received the e-mail/report from my insurance company conforming that dust issue is not covered by insurance policy which I totally understand. Just for the record I DO UNDERSTAND that certain conditions, like dust in my case, are not covered by insurance contract and this post is NOT (I repeat - is NOT) about insurance coverage. This report also contained a second FALSE STATEMENT made by technician Dmytro. T. that my A/C system DOES NOT HAVE A FILTER DRYER. Please see e-mail attached. That was a TOTAL LIE # 2. My A/C system has a 1 year old filter dryer that was install an A/C company through this same insurance company 1 year ago and technician Dmytro T. saw it with me what we both were on the roof at some point. I called E & A Mechanical, Inc. around 5PM this same day and spoke with its representative Maria. I explained the whole situation above and, since it was Friday and close to day end, Maria promised me to look into this issue and she would get back to me with the appropriate course of action on how to correct the whole situation not later than this coming Monday 8/8/22. In my next posts (there will be more) I will keep Yelp consumers posted on manager's response, if any, on all future developments and on my next course of action I will be taking in this totally unusual for me situation. read more

Very poor communication from this company. Text, emails and phone calls were almost never responded to and when we finally did get a scheduled technician to come, they cancelled. Very poor Communication from this company... Adding to their response.. The is more of an explanation. They did come on 8/04 BUT then never contacted me. I have multiple emails and text message conversations of my attempts to contact. They then cancelled their appointment AFTER they contacted me to schedule it. You can see MANY reviews below that echo my experience. That is the full story and unfortunately, fully deserve a 1 star review. I also followed up to let the Home Warranty company know these facts. I sent them email copies, full transcripts of the text messages and the many times I attempted to contact them via the phone. Can't argue with the facts.... Following up, after speaking to the Home Warranty company, they agreed with me and noted the multiple errors and Failures to move my AC job forward. I also made sure they knew that Alex was trying to change the facts and cover up their mistakes. They have opened an inquiry into whether or not they will keep using E&A in the future after seeing many others with similar reports. Those are the most updated facts. I have American Home Shield insuring my appliances so my discovery of E &A mechanical was through them. But I commend them on their choice. During the latest heat wave, E & A came out to service my air conditioning that broke down within 2 days which was great. Karen came and immediately found we needed a new condenser which he replaced and it was working again. But after awhile, the ac was blowing only hot air. I called back, and E&A scheduled with me to come out the next day. Karen then discovered a small leak. Had to replace a little valve and refill with some Freon. The ac seems to be working fine again! Very happy with E & A`s service along with the choice American Home Shield made in contracting them for the job! read more

Their technician was on time, knowledgeable and nice to work with. He explained the process of identifying our leak, ordered and picked up parts in one day and was back to finish the installation. first off I was able to get an appointment within one week of calling and on a Saturday. The last company we used took three weeks to get an appointment didn't come out on Saturdays and when they did come out, they didn't have parts with them and we had to wait another couple of weeks. Secondly, they said they would be here between eight and 11 and the technician was here between eight and 830! The last company said between eight and 12 and they got here at 12:15 and I had to take the morning off from work. Lastly, the technician Art was awesome very knowledgeable, very professional, and within 15 minutes and diagnosed the problem and told me to capacitors or bad. I was shocked when he showed them to me and said I replaced them you're good to go. He had the parts in his van. They are Lifesavers. We have homeowner's insurance and an a/c that's 20+ years old and dying. We've had a technician sent before who didn't do a good job. This second time, they send us a technician from E&A who was very communicative and listened carefully to our concerns. He told us that the technician we had before couldn't be right about his diagnosis because the temperature of the air would be warmer if that was the case. Initially, he thought the a/c looked like it was working but we explained that, after a while, it stops working. He listened and observed that too. He added a booster to the compressor (or something like that). This fixed the problem of our a/c stopping to cool after a while. It's still inefficient, but at least it seems to be consistent. read more

I had a very positive experience with E&A Mechanical over an A/C problem. During this recent heat wave, my system malfunctioned. E&A made a strong effort to get to me as soon as possible. They not only came and assessed the problem, they also had the burned out part in their truck and were able to install it. But, before leaving, they diagnosed a further problem. The part for this was not on their truck. Despite a number of other appointments, they took the time to go online, find the essential part, drove to that location, purchased it and came back to install it. The tech, Richard was professional, informative with ZERO upsell. He explained the limits with our AC unit in conjunction to the size of our house. Mentioned about needing refill of refrigerant or refrigerant leak but left anyways. A/C not cooling still, called E&A Mechanical again for a back job, scheduled on Friday 3-6pm. Mechanic came 10 minutes before 5pm. He said it might be refrigerant but won't be able to do the job since he did not bring his equipment and has to order the refrigerant. Anything wrong here? Of course! First off, the first day he came he should have thawed the ice with accelerant like hot boiling water, dryer and with temperature of 100+F it did not need 2-3 hours of waiting for ice to thaw. He would have found out once the ice has thawed if refrigerant refill is needed or if there are leaks, if he had spent time to check it out. But no, he stayed just enough time to cover the condenser. He said before he left that if there is a back job to request for him. Later on, when issue has not been fixed and I went back to what he said about the refrigerant that he knew there is going to be a back job because he knew what the problem was, he just did not spend enough time to fix it! On the 2nd time, Friday, he came 10 minutes before 5pm just about adequate to show himself and acted like he was doing something and said it might be refrigerant issue and he did not have the equipment to do it and will need to wait to be rescheduled. Meaning, no A/C over the weekend and until they reschedule which could be another 5 days! Why come at all when in the first place you knew what the problem is, on the first day, and give that lame excuse. Truth is, it was 5pm and his day had ended. E&A should not schedule between 3-6 when their mechanic's day ends at 5pm. So disingenuous! This guy is dishonest and cunning. He spent like less than 30 minutes, the first day and 2nd day, combined. No wonder the problem was not fixed. He just came and went and just stayed long enough, or short enough to make it look like he did something. Adding insult to injury, that mechanic wrote in his job receipt that "Aggressive owner, very rude". I was merely asking him why he could not fix it and he replied that he did not have the tools. He had no reasonable answers to my questions which left me frustrated and aggrieved. Expressing frustration is not aggression, nor rudeness. Asking questions is not aggression nor rudeness. I stood where I was, never made a move to go near him, no threatening words to him, but made it clear that I was not happy with his flimsy explanations and very poor job if their was a job done at all. He just did not have plain, simple honest answers! I am of the belief that the company culture has a lot to do with how the employees do their jobs. This man's unprofessionalism, dishonesty, lack in business ethics reflect how the company conducts their business. I am not surprised that this guy is still employed with them. Worst heating and air company I have ever dealt with in my LIFE!! They've come out 5 times in the past 3 weeks and continuously give me the runaround about why my AC is not working. This company was sent out by our home warranty company and it really seems like the last thing they want to do is say that a 22 year old unit needs to be replaced! How many parts are you going to change and how many times are you going to add freon to the system (after your technician just yesterday told me the system was overcharged, yet this morning the company told me that he added more freon yesterday)!!?? Makes absolutely zero sense, and they are unwilling to send out any other technician or even a supervisor. Terrible experience and wouldn't recommend this joke of a contractor to anyone. Update: just received a bs reply from whomever is over there with happy fingers. Dont give me and the public your lies... I know exactly what has happened in our home, and I have every interaction with your technician recorded on my home surveillance cameras. The unit was NOT frozen yesterday when the technician came out. It had been off for 5 days since the last visit. He confirmed that the unit was completely defrosted and that he was able to test it yesterday. There is a problem... if the unit is not working properly after your 5th visit, how is it so hard to understand that YOU HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM??! It's excuse after excuse with this company and nothing but lies. Look at all the other reviews that basically state the same issues and problems with your company! This isn't a coincidence. You are completely unprofessional, your techs and your office personnel are liars, and after 5 visits now to my home, you still can't tell me what's actually wrong with my AC unit. Our AC broke and our home warranty sent out another company that gave some BS report to the home warranty company and even their to get us to pay out of pocket.
