I scheduled a move-out clean of a one bedroom apartment a week in advance. The cleaner calls me, she is at the wrong door to the building (a service door tenants do not use.) I offer to talk her in, explaining calmly that we are at the front door. She sighs, and said she "Would try to find us once, otherwise, no clean." which seemed very drastic and rude. She finds the front of the building, I let the crew of 3 in through my patio door. She then IMMEDIATELY calls her "boss" for three minutes, and then informs me she cannot clean my apartment, and to call her boss for an explanation. When I called, the gentleman I spoke to was apologetic and reasonable, but informed me the cleaners retain the right to refuse service if they think the area is too dirty to clean properly. Understandable, but in my case, absurd. The cleaner didn't even look around, and there is no way my apartment met some "uncleanable" threshold. It's pretty clear from the initial message, this cleaner didn't want to work today and found an excuse not to. A group of 3 ladies showed up and had dirty looks on their face. They walked in and looked around the unit for 5 minutes and then refused to do anything and left. We booked them for a deep clean for a move-in, the unit was nearly empty except for some junk we were hauling out and the furniture the new tenant already brought in that was just sitting in the middle of the room. They said the unit "wasn't ready to be cleaned" even though all of the cabinets were empty, walls cleared, no furniture was set up, etc. We booked the deep cleaning and they only brought with them some feather dusters and basic surface cleaning equipment like Lysol spray. I had a pre move in clean and literally didn't even seem like they cleaned anything, backsplash was literally still covered in who knows what took me two rolls of paper towels to get it clean and my kitchen is very small (10x11), the bottom of my socks were black after walking around and the baseboards were not wiped down, all the windowsills still had dust all over them. Unless you're willing to take a detailed video of your entire home before the cleaners come, I do not recommend hiring this company. We hired E&K for a one-time clean that we had truly HOPED would become a regular weekly or bi-weekly relationship. Needless to say, we will NOT be using E&K again. Overall, the cleaning itself was fine - it wasn't amazing, but it was worth the price. The issue was that the crew dripped something on the floor in our kitchen that took the finish off the hardwood floors - see the photos I've attached. I contacted the company and showed them photos of the damage. They scheduled a time the next day for the manager to speak with me. The manager said there is no way their cleaners could have done this damage, because they don't use chemicals harsh enough and because their cleaners are "trained" to come and tell the client immediately if they break or damage something. I told her the damage had to have been done by the crew (or it was literally magic), as the problem was not there when I left for work that morning (it is a very conspicuous spot that you could not miss), but my husband noticed it immediately after they left just a couple hours later. She still insisted it could not be their fault. She indicated they have had clients lie about damages in the past for the insurance. She offered a ~30% discount on the single cleaning ($40 out of $140 - nowhere near enough to repair the damage). In other words, she implicitly accused me of lying because she has been cheated by people in the past - ironic, because I actually wanted nothing more than an apology and a promise they'd talk to their cleaners about slowing down and being more careful (something I never got -- she never even asked me what she could do to make it right, nor was she even willing to slightly indicate it possibly could have been their fault). I declined the $40 and let her know I didn't want any compensation - we already had plans to refinish this floor, and so, while unsightly until the refinishing work will be done in August, it actually is no material harm to us. All I wanted was her to know that her cleaners had caused damage, and to take that seriously. I told her how incredibly disappointed I was that they were not taking responsibility for the damage done. She insisted they were "taking responsibility," by "calling me back" and then arguing with me and insisting their crew could not have done the damage. Ultimately, if their crew does damage and doesn't notice, or does damage and doesn't feel like fessing up, E&K will clearly just argue about it and offer a nominal discount; honestly, I'll be shocked if they don't reply to this review with something to the effect of "it cannot have been us, our staff doesn't use harsh chemicals and are trained to admit mistakes." That may be true, but certainly, I had absolutely no incentive to fabricate damage and then literally ask for no monetary compensation in return. So I leave it to you to determine who is likely responsible for the damage. THANK GOD I was already going to refinish this floor, or they'd have a lawsuit on their hands. So, if you are thinking about using E&K, I recommend you take photos and videos of your entire home every single time they are going to come (it likely won't be the same crew each time), because if they damage something and the crew doesn't notice or admit it, E&K will NOT take care of you. I didn't even want anything, and I'm upset enough at the interaction to write this review. That should tell you what you need to know. read more

I used them for quite a while and ultimately fired them because they left bags of trash in my storage room for over a month. So much so that my building developed an infestation and we couldn't even open the doors. They knew where to put the trash because we had agreed to put it on the deck and I would take it to the trash behind the building. This comment from Chris is completely untrue. Further, my building has 1 other tenant who is on the third floor, they would not have given the cleaners directives nor should they have taken directives from anyone else. When I spoke to someone after, despite not engaging in increased yelling and escalation was called names and told there was no intent for resolution. When we moved to this neighborhood, we wanted to support local businesses. E&K cleaners did an OK job but seemed to miss a lot of big items that were left dusty or dirty. They also charged for a minimum three hours but only stayed and worked for two hours. If they had cleaned everything in that timeframe, that would've been totally fine with me, but to leave light fixtures coated in dust, floors unswept, etc., it was not a great experience. The website also says $35/hour per cleaner but they don't tell you how many cleaners they're sending. The team of ladies, Lida and Meg, came on time, toured the property since this was our first cleaning, brought in all their equipment, and they got to work. We stayed out of the way and our only prep was to kind of clear off counters to make things easier for them, and that was our idea. This is the apartment we plan on moving into and it was a huge mess. Stay far away from these people and don't give them your credit card! I'm highly disappointed with the work of this company. I hired them to clean my home and supposedly the lady was there for 4 hours. In those 4 hours, she managed to NOT vacuum, NOT wipe the counters, NOT wipe the table, NOT mop the kitchen floor and managed to leave scuffs in the floor from moving furniture that she wasn't supposed to move in the first place.
