No thrills, nostalgic food. I had a good time! Came in on a Friday night. They were busy, but we were greeted promptly. While we were getting settled, our drink order was immediately taken. Drinks came out within a couple of minutes and then we got to the good stuff. It's a smaller buffet, but they have a pretty good selection including some other items like pizza, sushi (they even had tuna and salmon sashimi), a selection of chicken wings and of course a dessert bar. Some of my favorites were the bbq spare ribs, fried rice, chicken and broccoli, and a spicy (not really spicy, just in the name) stirfry chicken. Hate I forgot to take photos of the actual names. In terms of parking, it's located in a strip center, so there's plenty of options. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They are also super fast. The speed at which they cleared those plates was crazy. I always saw someone attending to the buffet lines either checking for refills, tidying up, or just moving things around. Overall, the restaurant itself was clean. Again, if you're looking for a no-frills type of spot, this is it. I truly felt like I was back at the mall as a teen. FOR YOUR SAFTY DONT GO. THIS PLACE HAS NOT PASSED INSPECTION SINCE 4/26/24 the owner refused to show me at first until I threatened to call the cops. This used to be my go to spot in past years for first dates and anniversaries because the quality used to be amazing for the price. But in my last few years the quality has drastically decreased upon each visit to the point where the serve raw chicken and try to tell you it was cooked properly. My husband and I mistook this buffet for another we had gone to further east on I-10. But we gave it a shot. The service was fine. The place was not packed at all (should have took note of that). The sushi is definitely better here than most budget buffets. Beyond that, you're looking at another Chinese buffet with a few unique items. I find the quality of food here slightly above other buffets I have been to. Service has been great, drinks always filled and used plates quickly taken care of. Buffet selection is not huge but plenty, and perhaps why the quality seems better. One thing that lacks are toppings for the ice cream. It was pretty terrible. Most of the food was cold, chewy, & dried out. The only thing fresh on the buffet was pizza, but I didn't come to a $15 Chinese buffet for pizza (I could have gone to Cici's for that). I provided pictures below, the food looks good from far away but zoom in close and notice how dried out it is. The food had to of been sitting there for an hour or 2 to become that awful & all the pans were full to the top when I first arrived (full of old food). This was at 5:30pm on a Friday. (Now the eStar location in Willowbrook I give 5 Stars, they are amazing. Even different/better items on the buffet. Im shocked at how drastically different 1 location can be from the other). You must wear gloves & a mask at the buffet, but there was a lack of social distancing occurring. At the front of the dining room there is every other table "reserved for social distancing" but they sat no one in that area. They sat certain people in the back corner of the restaurant rite ontop of each other, with no space. Im not paranoid about being in close proximity of people in public but it's annoying when businesses want to act "extra" with all these crazy rules but is obviously only doing it for show read more

Went in again on the Sunday evening before the Memorial Day, and the restaurant was packed! Gotta wait about 30 minutes for a table but the time was like 8:00 - 8:15 PM already while the restaurant was closing at 9:30 PM. People just kept coming in for the good foods! Everything, taste-wise, stayed pretty much the same just like the previous 3 times I had visited in the past 2 months. My family usually goes to the one on 249, but this is closer to where we stay so we decided to give this place a try. They have pretty much the same things, but some things are different. Service here is okay. Food was replaced quickly when it was getting low. The only thing that took awhile to replace was the seafood. Oysters were gone fast and never replenished and sashimi pieces took awhile as well. I guess the more expensive items have quotas for each night. Overall, it was okay, but I prefer the 249 location more because of the friendliness of the workers and my go-to soup is served there. read more

Buffets at this price point usually have a bad rep, but I'm here to tell you that if you have any doubts about visiting this E Star location remove them right now. First of all, the contemporary decor and the dim, somewhat romantic lighting in this establishment makes you forget that you are at a Chinese buffet. We arrived this past Sunday after church and after being seated to our section I immediately went to the bathroom to freshen up. All the fear that I had of what I would find on the opposite end of the door quickly melted after discovering how clean it was. Keep in mind, this was on a busy Sunday afternoon. I'm one of the ones that believes that if the bathroom isn't well kept, then the kitchen isn't too far behind. The thing about the food here is that it's actually flavorful! Some of my favorites were the wings, shrimp, fried crabs, crawfish (please keep in mind that it's not crawfish season, so it's not to be judged harshly), and the sushi. So many varieties of tasty sushi! The food was fresh, it was always replaced quickly, and they keep the buffet area clean! Jennifer, our waitress was pleasant and very attentive to our drinks. I wish the rangoons weren't filled with chives and I wish there was more of a variety of desserts. There's mostly fruit, which I didn't get a chance to try (mainly because at a buffet I'm never concerned about my daily fruit and vegetable intake) but some family members commented on how sweet it was. There was a variety of pudding (which I've never been a fan of), and a sheet cake with coconut icing (nothing to rave about), and of course the standard ice cream machine with cones (my little cousin ate 3). Since you can't get everything you wish for I still won't take away any stars. Everyone was still full several hours after (uncanny with Chinese food!) and no one got food poisoning. What more could you ask for at this price point? ($12 dollars for the buffet and $2 with a drink - I'm picky about fountain drinks because they never taste like the real thing, but my Dr. Pepper actually tasted like Dr. Pepper) There's something for everyone so you can't go wrong satisfying a big group.
