Been going here for years. Food is good and price is reasonable. Service is also pretty good. We like the nightly live music. Some of the desserts appear to be desserts from Costco. If not they def look and taste like it tho

I've been here at Eagle Cafe many times from the days when my office was above the restaurant around 40 years ago. The restaurant has gone through many owners and transitions through the years. Its current manifestation isn't that great. Willy and I usually rotate between Eagle Cafe and Tanaka Saimin when we are tired of eating hostess bar food. Bar food can be exceptional depending on the kitchen mama, but is way more expensive than at local restaurants. We have been to Eagle Cafe several times in the last six months but this Wednesday night may have been the last time for a while. We got to Eagle Cafe about 8:15 and there were only three other parties there. The restaurant closes at 9:00. They have live music M-F until 8:30. This Wednesday they had a solo guitarist who played covers of popular hits. Nothing wrong with his performance. And Eagle Cafe is one of the only family restaurants that employs locals musicians so that is commendable. The food prices are decent. Willy's sizzling hamburger steak with onions and mushrooms was only $20.99. And my pork chops was only $18.99. My diet soda was $3.50. And the menu selection has most of the typical diner dishes local families enjoy. The service is friendly and efficient. The waitress with the tattoos is very patient. Willy always asks multiple questions about various dishes he never intends to order every time we are there. Maybe she doesn't remember but I do. It can be irritating. The worst part of Eagle is the food. It is hard to screw up rice, which tastes ok, even at the end of the night. And the mac potato salad is pretty good, especially when you add a little salt. But Willy's sizzling hamburger steak was drenched in brown gravy and the mushrooms and onions were sparse. He was not happy with the taste. My pork chops were extremely thin, about 1/4". And deep fried, making them extremely difficult to slice with the cut-rate Chinese steak knife provided. I have the calluses as proof. Anyway, overall just ok but certain dishes are not great.

This place is very spacious and has vibes of a coffee shop. Couple tvs playing above the bar and nice cool ac. Today I got the fried pork belly. It was pretty fat. I miss the crispy pata. It wasn't on the menu. Service is very fast and before you order...ask them what they recommend.

Had breakfast here before but decided to take my friend here for dinner before her flight to Vegas . Live entertainment on a Thursday night . Service was ok and the food was a solid 3.5 stars . My friend order their prime rib she requested well done . It came out medium well. She sent it back and the second result was ok . I ordered their sizzling hamburger steak w/ onions and mushrooms. Also it was alright it was a fresh hamburger patty with all the fixings. Support local

update 6-20-2025 Let me start off with the service. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our server Stephanie was friendly and checked up on us through out our meal. Today I decided to have the French Toast Combo. And my wife ordered The mini breakfast. She ordered the mini with spam and one egg and toast. My French toast was made with sweet bread. The bacon and egg came out as ordered. The restaurant itself had that clean and inviting atmosphere. Good Food and Great Service. Enjoy

Eagle cafe is a nice local eatery that serves comfort foods. The ambiance is old school like in the 70s. The service was very good. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Chicken Papaya soup - 3.5/5 The broth was good and tasty, but little on the salty side. The chicken consisted of wing flats and drumettes. The grab papaya was tender, not mushy or too firm. Since were arrived around 7:30p, the chicken have been in the soup for hours under heat. This made the chicken a little hard and dry. If the chicken wasn't overcooked, I would give the this dish 4.5/5. Mahi Mahi- 4/5 The Mahi Mahi was very tasty. The fillets were a bit small for our liking. That said, the Mahi Mahi was cooked perfectly. The fillets were tender, not hard and over cooked. Just increase the quantity of Mahi Mahi a little more. I will definitely return. Give Eagle Cafe a try. The good and service is worth a visit.

1 star for good service and a big clean place. As for my food, yuck. I got the garlic ahi belly and it was horrible. It definitely was NOT ahi. The fish did not taste good. It had a really fishy taste to it. It was also really white and flakey, Not how I know ahi to be. I could not bring myself to finish it. We also got a saimin for our kids and we found pieces of plastic in it. I'm guessing from the noodle package. I would not recommend this place and we most likely won't be back.

We love having a great meal at Eagle Cafe . It is located near Honolulu International Airport and Downtown Honolulu. We had their Pork Belly brown rice and garden salad . The teriyaki butter fish with tofu , white rice and garden salad . The own Lisa is always cheerful and welcoming

Update 9-4-25after my service for my car was done my husband said where to eat. He suggested eagle cafe. He ordered local breakfast 2 eggs any way you choose and choice of meat and your choice of toast, rice, or hash browns. I chose combo pancake. Comes with 2 pancakes, choice of meat, and your choice of eggs. I thought I ordered the mini combo pancake breakfast but when it came it was the bigger combo pancake breakfast it was filling. My husband breakfast was good he said I brought home half of my pancake.

On vacation and was tired from eating restaurant food. I wanted something that tasted like home. I ordered the oxtail soup. It was superb. Tasted like home. Tasted like an aunty was back in the kitchen cooking. The soup was clear. Whomever made the soup probably double boiled and stood over the soup to skim the grease from the top of the pot. If the grease is not skim, it will cause stomach aches in is some people after consumption. The chef used fresh Chinese mustard greens with whole shiitake mushrooms, sprinkle of cilantro, and a few peanuts. The peanuts were not overpowering but just enough for taste. So delicious that I asked the waitress to bring a side of rice in a bowl so that my daughter may have a taste of the soup.

He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).

Either way, it made for a super relaxed experience with no wait and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the food. Loved: The street tacos with the tempura shrimp were easily the star of the meal. 100% worth it. Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

The pastries were just okay; we tried a few cake slices that were fine but unremarkable. The cinnamon roll was dry and hard, the malasadas were forgettable, and the haupia-filled malasada was surprisingly tart. It's possible some ingredients were locally sourced and just unfamiliar to our mainland palates, or maybe we simply caught them on an off day. The servers were curt but friendly, likely because the place was packed with tourists.

It was so sad this business is closing down by Oct 31st. With rising food costs, inflation and…read morestaffing, it's understandable but I wish best endeavors for Chef Jason Peel and his staff. My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

The staff were friendly and very helpful with giving us recommendations. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, and honestly it was too much food for us. We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.
