Ya know, I don't really think tourist attraction restaurants are all that great, but Eagle Cafe was actually pretty good. I was expecting something overpriced and small portions. I ordered the house salad with chicken. It was reasonably priced, the salad was a good size and the chicken was prepared well. The service was fast and friendly (I only had a 30 min lunch). Burger was edible because we were starving but pre-made Costco patties would have been better, fries cold, fish tacos not good and calamari terrible. Food came out concerningly fast. We came to Eagle Cafe for an enjoyable late breakfast early lunch. Micheth G was exceptionally friendly. We thought about sitting outdoors but it was pretty cool so we opted for indoor seating. The place does get pretty busy as the day goes on. The food was pretty good. I did notice on the bill they have a SF Emp Manadate 5% and the sales tax and a few suggested tip amounts. Amazing spot with great views! We went on a Saturday morning, and we were expecting a long line considering that it was in the touristy part of SF. However, it was fast service--no wait at all when we went. Our waiter was enthusiastic and very attentive, which was much appreciated. Food was great! Some people in my group said the serving size for the fries/potatoes were kind of sparse, but I thought it was fine (it could be because I have a small appetite too). They served enough and fast, so I'll cone back to this place when I get another chance :D read more

This spot is a great go-to for a quick, "cheap" breakfast sandwhich on the go! The waitresses who helped me were very kind, and was even able to add avocado to the sandwich for me (extra $2). This is a nice option for pier workers like myself to get something that isn't too expensive to eat. However, some peers have mentioned the prices raised a bit from $5-$7. It may not seem like much, but even a difference like that could mean a lot for someone hence my score. It was good nonetheless, and a good option for a fast and not too expensive meal! So apparently this place has been around since before Pier 39 existed, and they actually moved the restaurant in order to create the Pier. Neat history. For being smack dab in the middle of tourist chaos it was pretty good! Great views from the deck of the the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay. Was busy, but not super crowded on the Friday after Thanksgiving around noon. My clam chowder was good - nice and creamy. Garlic fries were standard. I like my fries a little thinner and crispier, but not bad. I enjoyed my Bloody Mary - especially the bacon in it - but could have been a little spicier. Portions in the kids menu were pretty large. It's a bit pricey, but nothing one wouldn't expect from Pier 39. read more

I was romanced into choosing this restaurant and the fact that it's been serving up breakfast since 1928. I'll bet it was a great spot doling out hearty and fresh plates to dockworkers and such in the past. The scales fell from my eyes...when I realized this pier is filled with sunglass hut, Lidz and a fudgery. The upside was the service and the coffee. The crab and avocado omelette was pumped out of any breakfast factory without fresh avocado or fresh crab. And the home fries were seasoned wedge fries straight from a frozen bag to fryer. I'm sure that at the height of tourist season the location and the smiling staff overcome the soulless comestibles coming out of the kitchen. It's just one meal, right? I'll look more closely on my next outing, dear eaters! read more

Visited Eagle Cafe on a Saturday morning when we decided to take a day trip to SF, from Sac. We arrived around 9:15am or so, and were seated promptly. The service was fast, the waiters/waitresses were very kind and helped make sure our experience was pleasant and enjoyable. The hostess was not very welcoming to most people who walked in. She said nice words -- "Hello. How many in your party? Okay, you can wait here." Never with a smile, just very stoic and rehearsed. At any rate, everyone else made up for her lack of enthusiasm. I had the Banana Pecan pancakes...they were good, and the portion size was huge! I only finished 1/2 of a pancake so I had 1 1/2 to-go. My sister had the French toast, she said it was good, and we ordered the kids chocolate chip pancake for my nephew...underwhelming and quite disappointing. There were no actual chocolate chips cooked in the batter. There were literally 8-12 chocolate chips placed on top of the pancake. Granted, it was done while the pancakes were hot, because they started to melt, but...that's not typically how a chocolate chip pancake is made. Overall, the service was wonderful, food was good (not great), but I would try it again in hopes of having a more enjoyable experience. read more

Went to this restaurant on a Saturday. Given the day I figured it would be busy or we would have to wait for a table. There were lots of flies but I guess that comes with the area. We did not have to wait for a table but did have to wait for a server for 20 minutes. Someone took our order only because we flagged them down. The food was cold and no one was available to assist us with it. Fries and hash browns were also undercooked. We waited for the bill for a long time as well. Reached out to customer service. They apologized but only asked for a second chance. When I asked for a form of compensation I received no reply. Will not go again. read more

This is such a cute spot to grab a bite to eat. It has stunning views of the bay and the food was nice and fresh. In fact it was so fresh a seagull swooped in twice and snatched 3 pieces of bacon in total LOL! But the staff replaced the bacon and moved us to an indoor table. We originally wanted to sit outside to enjoy the INCREDIBLE views this place had to offer. It's right at the top of the infamous Pier 39. Such a nice vibe here. 11/21/2023 (9am-ish) After a one mile walk from the hotel Hubby was hungry. He found this place right upstairs from the Biscoff Coffee Corner. We were greeted immediately by friendly employees and because the place was empty, we had our choice of table when we walked in. We would have sat outside on the patio with the beautiful sunny skies but hubby was cold so we sat inside next to the window that looked down towards the ferris wheel. Hubby ordered the Breakfast Special. Hubby was bummed they didn't have any hash browns but the home fries were fried crispy and were cooked well. My Banana Pecan French Toast made with Boudin sourdough bread was cooked well and yummy. I was concerned about all the liquid (which is from the sautéed bananas and pecans) but the sourdough bread soaked it up well without it being too soggy. The flavors were yummy and not too swee! I ate two pieces and took home the other two pieces. read more

Had a very disappointing breakfast at Eagle Cafe a couple days ago. My husband and I have been coming to the Eagle Cafe for decades, although we haven't been for quite some time. My husband was disappointed that the Eagle no longer had its signature dish, corned beef hash. When we commented on the fact that corned beef hash was no longer on the menu, our server actually suggested we go to IHOP. Both our meals were lukewarm and mediocre at best. In fact, I felt ill after the meal and didn't feel better until the following day. It's sad to see such a San Francisco icon go downhill. We won't be coming back. read more

10/10 would NOT recommend. My friends and I came here after a long hike, expecting good food based on the reviews. They were out of the impossible burger, so my vegan friend ordered a patty melt without meat (basically a grilled cheese with onions). Instead, she was served a BLT with no bacon and no cheese. When she sent it back, the waitress claimed the patty melt doesn't come with cheese if there's no meat--until my friend pointed out the menu clearly shows otherwise. They returned the same sandwich she had already bitten into, this time with half-melted American cheese tossed on top of the lettuce. We were never checked on, and when it came time to pay, we can see our waitress looking over us, clearly watching to see if we'd tip. Overall, a very uncomfortable and disappointing experience and yes we could have asked for a manger but at that point we were very over it. read more

I hosted some friends from the east bay today. They wanted to beat the heat and come to SF. The food at Eagle Cafe is good. We all enjoyed it. It was nice to see Pier 39 crowded again. We had burgers $18 each, clam chowder w/salad $16, avocado toast $13, fish and garlic fries $22.50, cocktails $14 each, calamari $14, garlic fries $10. Service was excellent. They accommodated two little ones we had in our party. Good job everyone at Eagle Cafe. read more
