All I needed was a place to eat and relax. This place met my expectations. The burger was well made, freshly topped, held together well and cooked correctly; the fries were crunchy, making everything as it should have been and quick to come to me considering they were also very busy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great and all of the staff were extremely friendly, allowing us as much time as needed while we were dining there. I will return here again soon! read more

I honestly can't remember the last time I left a restaurant this disappointed. We chose Socialite to celebrate a friend's birthday, expecting a fun, simple dinner. Instead, we spent THREE HOURS trapped in one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've ever had. The only thing they got right was seating us immediately. After that? We were completely ignored for nearly 15 minutes. No water. No menus. We literally had to wave our server down just to be acknowledged. The food was shockingly underwhelming, especially considering the outrageous prices. We ordered the bruschetta, a chicken sandwich, a cheeseburger, and a Margherita pizza. Every single dish was bland, flavorless, and forgettable. Even the fries somehow managed to arrive without a grain of salt. I've had more flavorful food from a gas station. Then came the pizza... or rather, it didn't. We waited over an hour while multiple tables that arrived well after us were served their pizzas first. When I asked what was happening, I was told it was "still being made." Somehow everyone else's pizza was magically finished first. To make up for the ridiculous delay, our server told me he would comp me a glass of wine. Finally, I thought someone recognized how poorly this meal was going. Wrong!!! Before ordering, I specifically asked if they did anything special for birthdays. The server enthusiastically said yes. Great! At the end of the meal he brought out a small frozen dessert with the check. Then I noticed I had been charged for the second glass of wine, the one I had been told was complimentary. When I questioned it, his response was, "I comped you a pastry." Excuse me... what?! The birthday dessert I had asked about before we even ordered somehow became the replacement for the promised compensation? So instead of honoring what he told us, they quietly charged me for the wine anyway. It felt dishonest and incredibly misleading. As if that wasn't enough, the restaurant itself was dirty. The restroom had no toilet seat covers, no paper towels to dry your hands, and there was only one restroom for the entire restaurant, creating an absurd line. To add insult to injury, I paid $16 for a tiny 6 ounce glass of mediocre wine. Nothing about it justified the price. This wasn't just slow service. It was poor communication, broken promises, overpriced food, and a complete lack of hospitality. Save yourself the disappointment and your money. If you're craving a burger, go to Nation's just a couple of blocks away. Want Italian? You're surrounded by far better restaurants serving pizza, pasta, and seafood. Looking for Mexican food? Even the nearby taquerias and street carts offer better flavor and value. Socialite managed to turn what should have been a birthday celebration into a three-hour exercise in frustration. Bland food, outrageous prices, terrible service, misleading staff, and an overall miserable experience. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone. My mom and I visited on our last afternoon in San Francisco. We had a short period of time to try to see some last attractions, and this spot seemed like it'd be quick and casual enough. Sadly, no. We were seated right away and the restaurant was relatively empty, so service should've been fine. Our server himself was nice, but he did forget about us entirely after bringing our cocktails. The table next to us who sat down right before us had their food before we could even relay our food order. After I finally caught sight of him, I had to flag him down to ask him to stop over, and he said that he'd check the status of our food. I replied that we hadn't even ordered yet, and he did feel bad about that. Regardless, my ceasar salad and my mom's crab burger still took a long, long time to arrive after that. The kitchen should've expedited it. And the host/manager?? should've intervened at some point or at least stopped over to apologize. My salad tasted fine but it was overly dressed; absolutely not worth the price. My mom enjoyed her crab burger enough. Our cocktails were sweet but fine. But they should've at least comped a drink or something for the wait, as it did severely impact the amount of time we had left to sightsee, which was a bummer. Like literally any sort of remedial action for the mistake would've been cool. I'd skip this spot unless you're only going for drinks. There's nothing special about it aside from a prime location in Fisherman's Wharf, and from a quick skim of other reviews, the service issue is common. read more

This place is not good. I got the garlic fries and a pasta pomodoro. I don't know what this was but it was not a pomodoro. It was inedible. The garlic fries were okay. They were a bit cold but the garlic was abundant. They were not cooked properly tho. You could tell the garlic was not sautéed all the way and there was not even a dash of salt. You basically felt like you were eating unseasoned fries with a side of garlic that didn't have any of the favor sautéed out. I ended up leaving after two failed bites of the pomodoro. I came here on a weekend night with a group of friends. It was easy to find, right on on Jefferson St in the middle of foot traffic The decor was bright, had neon lights and signs, with the speakers playing music. Off to the right side of the main room, you could also see the cooks making orders. Towards the back was the bar and also the doorway to the patio. There were TVs playing the Olympics and other sports games. The staff brought out water jars for us to pour ourselves and took our drink orders while we looked over the menus at the table. There was a decent number of options for both food and drinks, which should satisfy most people. The service was a bit slow, even though only about half the tables were filled. After they took our drink orders, they took our food orders maybe 10 minutes later. At a certain point, I wondered if they may have forgotten our drinks order, but it turns out they were taking their time to make a few of our table's drinks at once and then brining them out a few minutes after taking our food orders. I ordered a watermelon margarita, which was light, sweet, and good to start the night. Our table also ordered other cocktails, beers, and a few appetizers. Overall, the general consensus from the group was that the food and drinks was sufficient (e.g. not bad or memorable, somewhere in between) Overall, I found the venue to have a bright decor / atmosphere, with the food and service to be fair. read more

My wife and I went here to cap off a day exploring NE San Francisco. It was a holiday Saturday about 8pm and we were greeted and seated quickly. The atmosphere is friendly, lively, and fresh. There were people in and out all evening. We ordered the Bruschetta and Parmesan-stuffed Chicken to share for a light meal. Both were delicious, but the bread for the bruschetta was hardly toasted. The tomatoes were fresh, the mozzarella was tasty, the bread was ... meh. Now there was nothing disappointing about the chicken, the flavor, texture, and presentation of the mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, and chicken was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. It's set right behind the Hotel Zephyr where we were staying for a quick trip to SF from LA. This made it so our kids could play ping pong while we waited for our food (bonus!). The service was absolutely excellent. The owner came over twice to see how we were doing on the outside patio, which we enjoyed because we could have our sweet pup with us. The food was delicious and our bottle of Pinot was just what we needed after our 8 hour drive up from LA. I know this review is going to feel like it's coming out of left field, but hear me out. The Socialite has a small section by the entrance that sells boba and slushies, and is one of the few spots near Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf that does so... you take what you can get. I was with a group of student employees and we were all trying to find some cafe or drink to burn some time. Walking by The Socialite, we found they had a corner with boba, much to our surprise. The boba here was very standard and normal for SF prices (around $8 for a drink). We figured why not since we were craving some. With the setup being as small as it is, it was obvious that everything would be pretty standard with powdered teas and flavored syrups, but they surprisingly did add some pizazz with some fresh fruit for some of the drinks that my students ordered. I went with a basic Oolong Milk Tea (which they claimed was non-dairy) and it was fine. It scratched the itch that I had instead of needing to go all the way to Chinatown for boba on such a short time frame. Give it a go if you really want some boba while visiting this area of the City. read more

Pizza was worse than school cafeteria pizza, my steak had a lot fat pieces. For 32.99 the taste did not match. It came with veggies and it literally looked like the chef chopped up whatever veggies he had. All different sizes of veggies too. Presentation was horrible. My husband got a pulled pork sandwich with yellow American cheese. Service was crappy too. The waiter/bartender and chef were arguing in front of guest. Just crappy service all around. I ordered the hot honey chicken sandwich, described on the menu as a "6 oz panko breaded chicken breast, hot honey, cilantro, lime, coleslaw" for $21.99 pre tax. What was served to us was a plain, untoasted bun with mayonnaise (no hot honey to be found), lettuce, tomato, pickles, and two (?) frozen chicken patties. Our server was kind enough to take the chicken sandwich off the bill, but the discrepancy between the menu listings and the food served is incredibly disappointing.
