Rather than apologizing, checking on my son, or attempting to correct the situation, the manager melted a slice of vegan cheese to prove the burger had been prepared correctly. The melted vegan cheese remained yellow, confirming my concern. I then mentioned that we also had a to-go order requesting vegan cheese. When the box was opened, it contained the same white cheese. The manager stated he would remake it to show that it would appear the same. Once again, the remade burger came out with yellow cheese. Throughout this interaction, there was no accountability, no apology, and no compassion. Instead, the manager continued to double down. He stated that he has worked for Hopdoddy for nine years and commented that because the restaurant serves many allergens, customers should "use caution" when eating there. This response was deeply concerning, especially given the seriousness of food allergies.
