Neighborhood locals have told me that they make a solid pie for years. Coming to this block on a regular basis (weekly), I never tried their food. Until now. I decided to order our Saturday family dinner from here, placing a phone order shortly after they opened. I asked for a 5:30 pm pickup so the pie would still be warm when I got home. We started with the Eagle special pizza, extra large (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Nyzv7uWN1n0BRn5Zv6-Kyw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) which consists of mushrooms, green bell pepper, green onion, black olive, sausage, and pepperoni. The mix of toppings were well balanced with no flavor dominating the others. The crust is old school with a crusty thick edge while the body was medium thick and not too doughy. I had several slices in the next week for breakfast and my mom had it for lunch a few times. We also shared a garden salad, side, with Caesar's dressing (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=d0zhQDMX1ZuE_0L_hEwTVg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); this is spring mix, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and shredded carrots. We enjoyed this mix of ingredients especially that it wasn't your typical iceberg lettuce variety. The Caesars dressing was not particularly appealing. I also got a classic meat lasagna (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jE5e6Re4D-Ue6Ba-YA43Pg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) for later in the week. Made with a slightly sweet marinara sauce, this is an interesting (good way) take. Besides the noodles and ricotta cheese layers, I found ground beef mixed with sliced mushrooms. You know me and my mushrooms. This came with a few small slices of cheese garlic bread (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4C3G38irBYyFjJYu1aWpJw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) which were perfect for sopping up the sauce. The portion is generous as I reheated half for lunch and had the rest a couple days later. When I arrived at 5:30 pm, several neighborhood locals made their way to a large table on the right. I wandered towards the back, looking for the cashier counter. Two ladies manning the front asked me how they could help me. I gave them my name and pickup time and was told my food was almost ready. I waited to the left by the large TV screen showing the Dodger Giants game. A short while later, a young guy brought my food out and took my credit card after asking whether I needed cheese and pepper packets (yes, please). In less than a minute, I was walking to my car. Thank you, Eagle, for joining my list of meal places for my family. And it was nice talking to one lady about her fur baby and doggy parks. *** Due note that they are temporarily closed till 7/17/24.

4.5 stars* (wish yelp would allow half stars) Super cute family pizzeria! We ordered margherita, Amy E pizza and I forgot the last one . I didn't try the margherita but the Amy Pizza was really good. The fresh pesto sauce balanced well with the tangy bbq chicken, I would give 4.5 stars. The other pizza was solid, but nothing extraordinary. I liked how both pizzas weren't greasy and prices were very reasonable. The service was also really great and the owner was very kind in letting us sit down when it was almost closing time. Pizza - 4 stars Service - 5 stars

It's too hard to choose a single favorite pizza so I have a few, depending on what I'm in the mood for. And Eagle Pizzaria had now moved onto my list. I want to order another one now just thinking about it. I'm not vegan but I avoid dairy so we ordered a pizza with vegan pesto and cheese that was the best I've ever eaten. The crust was chewy and crisp, the toppings were the perfect marriage of flavors. We also ordered a regular (non-vegan) sausage and pepperoni that the family liked. The house salad was good and shareable for 3 people. They were busy when we arrived with a boisterous soccer party and another on the way, but the server double checked the number of seats they needed and accommodated us at a table in the front window. He was super busy but not acting stressed about it. He took care of us and the throng of kids and parents. I loved the classic pizza parlor aesthetic with red checkered table cloths and interesting wall art. I will definitely come back the next time we are in the neighborhood

This is an unique style pizza in San Francisco. The pizza sauce is almost undetectable in taste. This place has been in San Francisco for decades and it's the few neighborhood pizza parlors. The dough was pretty heavy but it was not overwhelming. It's worth a try for something different for pizza in San Francisco.

I really wanted to like this small business but the pizza we had which was a combination pizza with mushrooms, pepperoni, onions etc just didn't taste all that good. The sauce and cheese were kind of bland and no one wanted to eat the crust. We were the only ones there for takeout and had a fairly long wait. Service is friendly IF they know you. They'll talk to you and chat with you, but if you're not a regular like us they'll pretty much ignore you. This wasn't our type of pizza.

Combination pizza, small vegan pesto bbq "chicken" pizza, & Antipasto Salad! so goo!!

Me and friends came here after an early evening outdoor show. We were super hungry and ended up having the best time. The food was so delicious. The owner and staff were very sweet. We received our food pretty fast. We got there less than an hour before closing and the owner was very welcoming. It was his birthday and he gave us some flowers. Such a great place. This will be my go to pizza place when I visit the city.

Friendly owner. Very reasonable price compared to the other pizza places nearby. I went on a Sunday early dinner hour so the place was empty but I did notice a lot of phone orders coming in while waiting for my food. Parking is nearly impossible. I ended up parking 2 blocks away.

I've been to Tony's a few times, and the first two times, my hub and I have left raving about it and telling all our friends and fam to get to Tony's. If any menu item says Grandma in it.... you can be sure it's an incredible pizza. They're extremely accommodating and service is great. It's a l w a y s busy, even on weekdays, even in the middle of the work day. Reservations are smart! Parking is not easy but not impossible in the area. We live in the city so we always take public transportation. Within the last 6 months, I've discovered a gluten and dairy allergy that really took me down. Without getting into the gnarly details, it wasn't fun and I've been grieving pizza since this new discovery. So why would I go to Tony's with this new allergy? Because! I read that they offer a gluten free, dairy free pizza. Insane I know, but yet they offer it and I was PUMPED. When asking the waiter what I can get based on my needs, he responded to me like I was a war criminal. He was a Caucasian gentleman with brown hair. He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

Guy at that counter was friendly and worked efficiently. After we ordered, it took 10 minutes to get our slices and we ate immediately. The slices were above room temp (so I know it was reheated), but it nowhere near hot. The dough is very thick, but had a very soft chew and zero crunch. The garlic and clam was a great taste, but it's hard to enjoy what essentially felt like a slice of focaccia that was reheated for 15 seconds in a microwave. Again, I have to believe something was terribly wrong with our order, especially after looking at the reviews and seeing the Dave Portnoy review. Maybe it was placed in a cold oven? Maybe someone put a bunch of slices in the oven at different times and accidentally pulled out the newest addition to the oven and served it to us?? Is it all hype??!! Unfortunately, there ended up being an issue with part of our order, but before we even had the chance to say anything, the team had already taken care of it for us. That honestly stood out to me more than anything. There was no awkward back and forth, no need for us to complain or ask for anything. Great pizza, even better people, and the kind of customer service that makes you want to come back. I unfortunately didn't catch everyone's names, but huge shoutout to the team working today. The pizza has charred edges like Neapolitan which adds a nice smokey flavor. The crust has zero flop and a nice golden crust on top. Sauce has a tough of sweetness. I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. It was good, but the crust was just a touch too greasy for me.

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
