Ordered take-out consisting of an order of chicken parm with spaghetti and vegetables. The spaghetti and vegetables were fine - nothing exciting but not bad. The chicken parm was a big disappointment. The chicken was very thin, very dry, and almost had a jerky-like consistency. The chicken had a very strong lemon flavor, and made me wonder if the restaurant took leftover chicken piccata from the night before and re-purposed it as chicken parm. I rarely send things back in restaurants, but if I was there in person, this would be an order I'd return. read more

The restaurant was a bit busy but staff had no problem taking my order and letting me know it should be 15 minutes. My partner and I took a seat in the outside area and waited for about an hour before getting our food. The server didn't realize we wanted to dine in but didn't ask when we placed our order. The Italian food was okay and the service wasn't good. The server checked on us a few times and gave us breadsticks and cups with ice about 40 minutes into waiting. Was disappointed when the food finally came and the noodles were not fresh, though the meatballs were. My partners fettuccini alfredo wasn't great because the chicken tasted firm and dry. "We ran out of smalls, so we made your pizza a medium." On my last night in San Francisco, I wanted to eat dinner somewhere special to send off the right way and I knew I needed to come to Mozzarella di Bufala one last time. I've come here around 4 times before and have eaten everything from both the Italian and Brazilian side of the menu. Dominic and the family that owns the restaurant is warm and inviting, and he walked us through the menu and its history with his father the first time we came. The menu is authentic and reflects the cultures of his family and we loved that. The pizzas are made fresh and they make it every way from thin crust to Detroit but what really gets me here every time is the cornmeal crust pizzas they offer. It's very unique and the crust is the perfect sweet crunch that compliments every bite. I usually get a pizza and way more apps than it is appropriate for one person but they're just that good. The Brazilian cheese balls come with a sweet strawberry jam that I have to smear on every bite. The French fries are the same McDonald's cut (if you're a fry enthusiast like me, you'll know that the cut really matters). The bruschetta is fresh and loaded with tomatoes. And each variety of the croquettes they have are delicious but I often get the chicken and cream cheese ones. They're seasoned really well and creamy. What really stood out to me the most about this place is that the restaurant feels like a part of the West Portal community. Every time I go for dinner, there's a woman who's there eating her dinner. The first time I went she mentioned she comes here everyday and to my surprise, she wasn't lying. That last night, I watched her there again 4/4 times eating her dinner. On my last night, I ate my pizza while I watched Dominic and his friends grabbing a beer together catching up at closing time. And I watched regulars say goodbye like they were saying goodnight to a good friend. Do you believe in serendipity? I do now after the experience here yesterday. I normally don't write reviews right away , but I'm doing it for this restaurant because the food was just that amazing. So my friends and I were in the area all set to get a burger at Calibur. However, on the way there my friends saw shops they wanted to go into. I waited outside on the phone with my friend. As I was chatting I kept on seeing this restaurant getting a lot of foot traffic, and I mean non-stop foot traffic. I walked close to see what it was , and it looks like a pizza place. I can see they had regular pizza and Detroit pizza, however I took a closer look and they had Brazilian food! It was getting so busy inside, so I went back outside to wait for my friends. We did go to Calibur but when we got there, we noticed they didn't have indoor seating anymore and it was too cold outside as they didn't have heat lamps . So what did we decide on? Let's go back across the street to Mozzarella Di Bufala! They have outdoor seating with heat lamps but they also have a few tables inside. We sat inside and placed our order with them. I didn't want the pizza and as were captivated by their Brazilian food as it's harder to find. I'm glad I'm able to find something that's not a Brazilian steakhouse. This place seems very authentic and homey. We started with the Bolinho de Bacalhau which was the deep fried salted cod croquettes. This has four pieces and was fried to perfection. It was golden brown and the batter was light and crispy. It was packed with the cod fish and came with some dipping sauce. We each ordered the Moqueca de Peixe. This was the fish of the day which was halibut sauteed in coconut milk cilantro, palm oil, green and red peppers, onions and tomatoes. Served with spinach and rice . Since it was my first time having Brazilian food(non steakhouse), I was blown away from this dish. The sauce looks spicy but it's not . I asked for no cilantro and luckily they remembered. Fish was tender and it went so well with the rice which tasted like coconut rice. You can smell the aroma from this dish tables away! Like, you knew it would was coming to your table for all the flavors this dish has. By far this dish itself is worth coming back! We also order the Pao de Queijo, but I think one do their delivery guys took our order. The server was very apologic and gave us a free dessert. We ended up getting the Brazilian flan. If you are a strawberry lover, you must get this because it came with lots of strawberries! Whoever, ate my Pao de Queijo, I hope you're happy, I was saving room for that ! I'll def make sure I'll order this next time . However, I was looking for it for delivery today but I didn't see this dish for delivery. That makes me sad all over again. The servers here were all super sweet! They have amazing service and they seemed so down to earth. As busy as it was, no one seemed stressed. They continued to give everyone the best service with a smile. I loved this place so much I wanted to order the dish again for delivery but I noticed the prices were different. It was a little bit higher for the Moqueca de Peixe online. I think I understand , but I would've totally gave in if they had my pao do Queijo. Overall, we are glad we found this place. We ordered calamari (good, fresh not frozen) and the Detroit style pizza with just the pepperoni topping ( AMAZING MARINARA sauce). My partner is half Italian and the last time he tasted an amazing marinara was many years ago in east coast. You can taste how fresh the sauce is, not out of a can. I really thought he'd cry and that's how good the sauce was! It was sweet, not sugar sweet and salty, which is probably from the pepperoni. But it was a great combination! This is definitely a hidden gem for Italian food. Service was great. Our server/host was nice and professional. When we came in, there were only 3 tables, tiny space but there were seats outside, a makeshift dining room. It's a decent pizza place, although we probably wouldn't get the sausage next time. We also ordered the calamari, which was good, and the Moqueca de Camarão (I believe that's what it's called). Although I was expecting it to have some spices, it really just tasted like a watered-down Thai red coconut curry, if you've ever had one. It did have a decent amount of shrimp, but I wouldn't get it again. I'd probably come back if I'm craving pizza or want to try another dish. The place gets super busy, though, and there seems to be limited seating inside, with lots of to-go orders and people coming in and out. One was standard, and the other was just a dressed up cheese slice pretending to be a margherita, topped with random arugula and dollops of ricotta. Not even close to what was advertised. I had a craving for pizza and decided to get take out at Mozzarella Di Buffalo Pizzeria. I came here a long time ago but didn't have a opportunity to come back here since. The restaurant and kitchen looked pretty clean. You can see the workers making the pizza from the window from the outside. They offer pizza as well as Brazilian dishes. The service was good. The cashier was very helpful in explaining the menu. He even checked on our order for us. I ordered the Detroit Style Square Pizza withe mushrooms. It had four slices, made the pan pizza style. I was impressed on how much mushrooms were on it with also a finishing touch of marinara sauce on top. The cheese was just enough with the bottom crunchy. It was enough for two people to share. Super reliable, popular, and local pizza stop! This is the size of slice that I'm talking about for this unbeatable price. Everyone we talked to knew of this place. Everyone who saw the pizza asked where I got it from. It was the star attraction! I also love the remodeled look. It's very modern and clean. The employees there were also very nice and well-mannered. Even though I was in the way of the busy restaurant business, they repeatedly were polite and said it was ok. Never thought I would say this about a pizza place but their caesar salad dressing is my favorite thing from this place. Has anchovies creamy, full body dressing. And delicious croutons with a fresh salad. Their sausage topping tasted like they were made in house. Their pizza rebaked the next day is also very we had their delicious. Came here at about 7pm, on a rainy night and we were the only customers dining in. The dining area inside is very small, only about three small parties could be seated at a time. Service was also very good, there were a lot of people working for such a tiny place. Garlic Bread: this was super dry and flavorless, would not recommend! Maybe breadsticks are better. Pesto chicken pizza: this was really good, the best thing I had all night. Spaghetti Fresh Clams: The portion of clam/mussels was generous. I thought this was good, but extremely fishy. I regretted ordering it because my pregnant sister couldn't even stand the smell. This also was a different dish than I had pictured (my fault for not reading the description well). I was expecting clams in white wine sauce like I typically get but this had tomatoes and a bunch of other stuff in it as well. Spaghetti and Meatballs: Comes with two large meatballs, I thought this was good as well. Overall, we had a good time with good food! The Detroit-style Pizza was amazing!!! So good. Also loved the chicken croquettes and mozzarella sticks. Also we had the *off menu* tres leches cake and it almost tastes better than my abuela's - I wish I could've bought a pan to go. Lastly, our server Jessica was the absolute BEST!! Went to this place a while ago because my girlfriend and I were hungry for Italian food and we so happened to stumble up on Buffalo. When we first got there we noticed the amount of seating was highly minimal. When we sat down it took a while for us to get the menu sadly. We then got moved to another table . We ordered and the wait time was fairly high. I got the lasagna and my girlfriend got the seafood pasta. But sadly the Lasagna was extremely salty and the seafood in the pasta was not up to taste and there was grit in the seafood. I work in the West Portal area and I have visited Mozzarella Di Buffa more than a couple of times. The people who work are very nice and are willing to help with the menu. The pizza is amazing. I love the Detroit pizza. Also, the garlic bread is super. One hidden gem (when they have it-hint) is their homemade chicken noodle soup. It is so very good. One thing which will make me go their more, is that I now get a 20% discount on all menu items on Tuesday's because I am 55- Woo Hoo. read more

So so good!!! If you are in west portal, you have to check this place out. Everything was amazing, from the service to the food it was such a great dining experience. We started with the zucchini sticks which were piping hot and delicious. The Brazilian dish we got was 10/10 and I would definitely recommend trying. They are very accommodating to half & half pizzas or any modifications you want to make. We finished our meal with the strawberry Nutella dessert pizza which was to die for... we could not stop eating it. My Tuesday Lunch choice a Calzone with Ricotta, and it was a smart choice. The Calzone was perfectly cooked, Fresh & Tasty, so Yes I'd joyfully purchase a Calzone or Pizza from Mozzarella Du Bufalo again. As for ordering it was via DoorDash, which made the process simple, but they do markup the prices. If able I'd order directly and also checkin via Yelp for a 10% discount. Regarding Parking, I lucked out that upon reaching Di Bufala a Car was leaving a spot right in front of the shop. Inside a young woman greeted me, and retrieved my Calzone from the Kitchen. So I was in and out in less then 2 minutes it's hard to beat that for speed. My favorite pizza anywhere. Back in my college days I worked nearby so I started coming back then. Nowadays whenever my family takes a trip to the city we have to come back. Love coming here for some delicious creamy alfredo. I usually get the alfredo with chicken or prawns. Each bite is so buttery and rush with garlic. They have a large portion too. I always have left overs. Whenever I am craving pasta this is my go to place. My partner loves their Detroit style pizza. It's a great menu option for anyone who is picky with their toppings. He's a vegetarian but also isn't a fan of most vegetables so it's great when he can make it his own. The sides always come out crispy and delicious and he always walks away with left overs as well. I want to give this place 5 stars but we ordered from here recently and they charged me $6 extra for prawns but I only got 3 for the whole dish. It was a rip off for such a large dish. Was hoping for more protein. I think next time I'll stick with the chicken since they always seem to give me more. Customer service is usually great. Pizza place on west portal recently got a updated. I don't remember them serving Brazilian food before; but now they do and have a nice parklet outside that is dog friendly. It was very simple and clean. Service was friendly. They also now serve Detroit style pizza. We opted for the new York style and was pretty tasty. The Brazilian stew was a tad salty; perfect for those that need a hangover remedy. Cost is relatively reasonable at $20-24/person. Will return to try more Brazilian stuff for sure. read more

I clicked on the picture of a pepperoni pizza in the featured items section of the online menu. The description did not say that this would be a plain cheese pizza. I was very disappointed when I recevied a plain cheese pizza. When I called for an explanation the manager told me that they just use stock photos and liked the way they looked even though it did not represent what the type of pizza you are odering. I called same-day to check on the restaurant's ability to host a post-game party for my child's baseball team. We were able to reserve their private room and pre-order pizzas. I ordered it as a side, but the portion was more than generous--definitely a great value. The sauce was creamy and tangy with just the right balance of tomato and cream, clinging to every piece of penne without being too heavy. I'd honestly come back just for this. To end the meal, I had the Brazilian flan, and wow--it was silky smooth with a delicate caramel glaze that melted in my mouth. It was the perfect finish to an already incredible meal. Kiddos craving pizza and we were in the neighborhood. Arrived at around noon on Friday and were seated quickly. Kiddo can never pass up Fettuccine Alfredo, and he was happy with his order. Daughter and hubs shared the Di Bufala pizza - hubs liked the crispy thin crust. Plenty of toppings and they said they liked the pizza. The menu also had a few Brazilian items to choose from. I ordered the Churrasco Grelhado (steak), which comes with rice, fries, beans and a tomato onion salad. Fries were crispy and hot - kiddos stole all my fries. I don't usually like beans, but these ones were creamy and flavorful. The tomato and onion salad paired nicely with the rice and steak. Steak full of flavor. Really liked this dish. I was intrigued because it was "Brazilian" food and pizza. The restaurant wasn't busy at all for lunch time. I thought they were closed. The person who greeted us was friendly. He welcomed us to sit anywhere. When we walked in, I was surprised that there were lots more tables in the back. My daughter and I shared zucchini sticks and Grilled Beef Churrasco Grelhado. The zuke sticks were your regular run of the mill zucchini sticks but they fried them fine. Crispy, not greasy, and you can see the green zucchini. Props for that! We were asked how we wanted our steak. We couldn't decide between medium rare or medium. We should've gone for medium rare because our steak arrived well-done. But it's all good. The steak was delicious and well seasoned. The rice was flavorful. The bean soup was good. And the tomatoes and onion salad complemented the steak. Overall we had a good meal.
