I wish I had something nice to say but this was a real unfortunate and baffling experience. Beyond baffling. I seriously can't believe this location is still in business with their risky and endangering practices (renting out a sketchy Sportster). Kevin, you are a huge liability and a terrible representation of Eagle Rider with your lack of organization, limited inventory of poor quality bikes, lack of customer service skills, and your failure to understand and meet your customers needs. I hope you learn to take safety seriously, and also learn to take accountability. read more

First, I would like to say that I have had great experiences with Eaglerider in the past. Unfortunately, my recent experience Kevin of Eaglerider Carmel was absolutely unacceptable. My friends and I flew to California to rent motorcycles for a big event in Santa Margarita. We booked a month in advance and paid a deposit on two sportsters and two softails. From the beginning, Kevin acted as though renting motorcycles to us was a huge hassle and complained that we called him too much for information. When we arrived on the day of the event, he had two street glides and two sportsters. The street glides were bigger than the soft tails we had reserved and one of the sportsters was older and didn't look up to Eaglerider standards. Once we were on the road, we realized that the second sportster was having mechanical issues; slipping out of gear and the throttle was difficult to open and close. We got to the event and set the older sportster aside because the renter didn't feel comfortable riding it. When we woke up on the last day and packed up our bikes to leave, the throttle on the sportster was so stiff that it took two hands to turn it either way- it was unsafe to ride. We called Kevin to let him know what was going on and he was dismissive of the issue. He told us it needed to warm up and to pour some hot water over it (which is an odd request for something that we paid over $400 to rent for a weekend). When that didn't work, he became combative on the phone, saying that he wished he'd never rented to us and that we'd been a hassle from the beginning. He asked if there was a man around he could talk to and told us that if he and his mechanic (two highly experienced professionals) could get the bike back to Monterey, then we would be footing the $2000 tow bill. We have videos of a mechanic looking and the bike and telling us not to ride it. When we got back and reached out to Eaglerider, they told us he had registered us for two soft tails, one sportster and a SCOOTER. This made us believe that the bad sportster wasn't even insured at all. We have videos of the motorcycle issues, we have videos of Kevin's reaction when we arrived back in Monterey, and we have recordings of phone calls with him being argumentative and unhelpful. We have reached out to Eaglerider corporate and are working towards a resolution. If anyone is looking to rent in California, I would go to any other Eaglerider besides Kevin at Carmel. This guy is super shady and unprofessional and gave some of the worst customer service I have experienced. He'll probably respond calling me 'dishonest' but he was the one breaking rules and putting my friend in danger. read more

The experience our group had at EagleRider Carmel was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever encountered. At first when rentals were selected on the website, a couple months in advance everything was fine. We called to double check details a couple times and Kevin was either unresponsive or unsure of details. When the group showed up to rent motorcycles one of the Sportsters rented was a bike much older than the others and wasn't a bike that was on the website or looked up to EagleRider standard. 3/5 bikes were Street Gildes and an Ultra which were much bigger bikes than had been selected at the time of booking. However, since we had flown a long way and had a motorcycle event to get to, we took the bikes assuming the EagleRider name would mean a great experience. We rode the bike to Santa Margarita but with a very crunchy clutch and a very stuck throttle. We had to pull off the road several times because of a mechanical failure. On Sunday, when we went to leave and bring the bikes back, the older sportster was unrideable. The throttle was completely frozen. We had a mechanic at the event look at it and urged us to not ride the bike. When we tried to find a solution with Kevin we were given tricks to try, which we did, with no success. He would not work with us to find a solution and began berating us. He specifically asked if there were any men around even though we were surrounded by 100s of extremely capable women. We got in touch with EagleRider Corporate and found out the unrideable sportster he gave us wasn't even registered with our rider. Who knows what the liability of that was or where that bike came from. We have been working with EagleRider corporate to find a solution to this. Because of the amount of time it took to create a solution, several of us almost missed our flights home. What should have been an enjoyable ride back up the California coast became one of the most stressful days I've ever encountered. Thankfully we had a chase van so that we could fit an extra person in the car. If we hadn't I don't know what we would have done. I highly advise going to a different EagleRider location as EagleRider Carmel is a nightmare to work with. read more

While Eagle Rider is a beloved company in the motorcycle community, our experience with the owner at the Carmel franchise location was completely unacceptable. Our group of five were subjected to his unprofessional interactions, lack of organization and minimal concern for our safety. Kevin did not have the correct motorcycles we rented, so we were left with 4/5 bikes not being what we rented online. One of the bikes was not only not registered correctly and listed as a scooter, but also has major mechanical issues that posed a major danger to the safety of its rider. When we called Kevin to inform him of this issue, he was dismissive of our concerns, used discriminatory and hostile language towards us and threatened to charge us a massive fee if we did not ride this unsafe bike 2 hours back to Carmel, despite it having equipment failure. Owner, Kevin has zero regard for the safety of his equipment or riders. I cannot urge you enough to rent from one of Eagle Rider's other locations in San Jose, San Francisco or Los Angeles. The Eagle Rider Carmel location is unfit to rent motorcycles and the owner should not have any position involving customer service, management or determining safety. Please rent elsewhere for your own safety ad sake. read more

Rented a newer Street Glide to ride down PCH to Pismo Beach through Big Sur. Kevin was great. Rented ahead of time. Had the bike clean and ready to ride. Parked my car overnight in the lighted parking lot near his store with no issues. The bike was a blast. No issues. Easy return process when I got back. read more

A dissapointing experience from start to finish. I flew to San Jose from Edmonton, Canada to meet my girlfriends and take an epic trip down the coast. First of, when I went to book the bike, I wanted to add my reservation onto my friends reservation as I would be paying separately (I'm from another country) and still benefit from the group discount as there were 5 of us renting bikes. I want to first mention that the rental rates in Carmel are 20-40 dollars more per day than in San Fransisco, the rental selections are much poorer and the insurance options are also not as comprehensive. I tried to call the Carmel office over 20 times with no answer and left three voicemails regarding my rental inquiry, none of which were returned. I ended up just booking a bike through the website after talking to a booking agent. Needless to say I was not given the group discount. When we arrived at Eagle Rider Carmel, 4/5 of us were given bikes that we did not choose, and I do understand that the choices are not guaranteed but one of us was given an older bike that had obviously seen better days. This bike got worse as the trip progressed and at the end the bike had troubles starting and when we finally got it to start, had a throttle that was stuck. We tried to troubleshoot this issue with Kevin, the owner of Carmel Eagle Rider and he was absolutely no help. He told us that we had to get the bike back - a 3 hour drive North from where we were staying. We consulted with a mechanic on site at the event we were attending and she urged us not to ride the bike as it was absolutely unsafe. Kevin tried to troubleshoot with us, suggesting we pour hot water on the throttle to loosen it up. My questions here, why are you renting a bike that is unsafe? Why are you renting a bike where the throttle needs to shave hot water poured on it? How did you not know the bike was in this condition? The hot water trick did not work, neither did lubricant or any other solution we tried. Kevin expected us to ride this bike, that might I mention was registered and insured as a scooter according to the Eagle Rider head office (for reasons I can only imagine). Kevin was wanting us to put one of lives in danger to return this absolutely unridable and unsafe bike in order to return it to him. At one point he even suggested that we find a man to help us figure it out. We ended up troubleshooting for much longer than we should of, left the bike in Santa Margarita and nearly missed our flights home due to Kevin's negligence. Kevin wanted us to pay to tow this bike back to his shop after renting out an unfit and unkept bike. Moral of the story, DO NOT RENT from this location if you want to receive an ounce of customer service. If you want someone that values your life and safety DO NOT RENT here. read more

This is a bad representation of Eagle Rider! Kevin Kosick was no where to be found. Did this place have available motorcycles we wanted to rent? Yes! Were they reserved? No! How do we know? Because we looked on their website and it showed 9 available motorcycles for rent. When we called to confirm, no one answered. We drove to the location and we're greeted by a friendly employee, who was absolutely useless in helping us. This employee told us that Kevin is the one who maintains rentals and that he just left for a ride and didn't advise the time he would return. Also he went on and explained that motorcycles rentals are by appointment. This is no where found on the website. This was a on the fly decision for us and normally we book ahead. But I find it very hard to believe that your establishment can't accommodate walk-ins. Sorry but if you're going to claim you're a EagleRider business affiliate, you better be able to deliver the standard customer service to all its members who are paying customers for your service. Period! If you don't learn customers are always right and you work for us to provide that service. You will fail and I hope you go down sooner rather than later you lazy POS! Teach all your employees how to rent a motorcycle! Eagle Rider Corporate will be hearing from us. read more

When our group arrived to rent our bikes, Kevin didn't have the correct bikes and one of the Sportsters was older, had oxidized metal and had a paint job that was definitely hand done. We were told this was one of the Sportsters we would need to take and that it was "in some movie with Brad Pitt so everyone loves this bike" even though it wasn't on the website and didn't look like any other Eagle Rider rental. We took it because we didn't really have a choice and our group of 5 had an event to get to a few hours south. The throttle was so sticky that it didn't snap back and the gears were grinding really bad trying to get it in neutral. When we went to leave to return the bikes, my bike's throttle was so sticky that a mechanic came over to assess it and said it was super dangerous and unrideable. We contacted Kevin, thinking he would apologize for the situation and come up with a solution to what we should do. Instead he said he bet he or his mechanic could ride it and if so, then we would be responsible for all towing charges and then asked if a man was around (we were at a 1500+ women's motorcycle campout). He acted incredibly childish and didn't acknowledge we didn't feel safe riding the bike or make any attempts to figure out how we could get this bike back. When we called Eagle Rider corporate (who have been really great to work with) they saw that he technically didn't rent me a Sportster on the paperwork, he had me down as a "scooter" yet he definitely told me the paperwork was for that Sportster and I paid the full price of a new Sportster, so I think he rented me his own bike or a shop bike, not at official Eagle Rider rental, which is so unprofessional. If I had got in an accident or something, would the bike have even been covered by insurance? Probably not. It was a really terrible situation and he spent more time trying to berate us than figure out a logical solution and I can't recommend working with Kevin as he acted slimy in a situation that didn't need to be that way. I reserved a scooter for the DMV motorcycle riding course test. The manager claimed he rented out scooters all the time for that purpose. He gave me the crappiest scooter he had, throttle was sticky and the handlebars were not aligned with the front wheel, but he claimed the course was so easy that the scooter he pushed on me was just fine--according to him. The body of the scooter was even cracked and dented. The scooter had obviously been wrecked. When I returned the scooter, after failing the test, I noticed he had a at least three scooters in perfect condition lined up at the front window. I invested over $100 into this mans unethical business practice. read more

I called ahead and Kevin answered all my questions. I reserved a sportster, but decided on a fatboy that was available, and Kevin let me take it for a test drive before i upgraded. The bike was in great shape. Make sure to reserve ahead of time. Kevin seemed like a great guy, but it seemed like he may not be at the shop all the time unless you've reserved a pickup time. The insurance they offer has a high deductible, so be careful with the bike. If you're an experienced rider and reserve ahead, i don't think you'll be disappointed. Monterey to Big Sur was a beautiful ride. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the sportster i originally rented wasn't scheduled to be back until 30 min after my pickup time. For a day long rental, i wasn't going to let that bother me, but just fyi. read more
