I don't come here too often but when I do it's always a good experience. Love the sandwiches here and especially the bread that they use. It's soft and crunchy at the same time. I most recently got the Reuben sandwich and my significant other got the Chicago sandwich. Both equally good. We also got on the side some order of their special fries that came with deep fried chicken and bacon. The chicken I didn't care to much for but it was still good. Ordered the Reuben sandwich and it was pretty disgusting. I knew based on the description it wouldn't be a traditional Ruben but this was just super soggy and messy. It looks like whoever made the sandwich dumped the ingredients in the bread and mushed everything together as hard as possible before wrapping it up. The cheese was fully outside of the sandwich and stuck to the paper. In terms of flavor, the only thing I could taste was mustard. I love mustard but it was soooo much it was legitimately the only flavor on this sandwich. Really really bad. Love this location. The food is consistently delish from Kakaako. No shade to kaimuki, went there once (bc its closer to my house btw) and the same sammy I ordered from Kakaako like a week before just wasn't it... there's just something about Kakaako, it's special. The chef must put a lil extra loving into his work here cus I taste it in every bite. I also like the set up of this one a lil better and most importantly, I love that the owner is from MD (like me). The Philly was a little pricey but it was really good. My husband really liked it. The bread was soft n crunchy. The philly had a good amount of meat and cheese. The fried chicken po boy was so good. Finally ready for a review after trying this place out maybe 5-6 times. I've tried three of their sandwiches - fun goat, pastrami single, and my personal favorite, avocado bahn mi (if I'm not eating meat that day). I really love how each sandwich is different with different meats and condiment combos so it's always a completely different experience for your tastebuds. The avocado bahn mi is probably the top bahn mi in my book because of the basil mayo and sriracha sauces - not the basic bahn mi but love the twist (pictured) and the French bread is always fresh and warm and crunchy. The pastrami single is LIKE BUTTERY GOODNESS. The wagyu was juicy, the pastrami was tender and the bacon was just *chef kiss* Wether they just randomly threw a recipe together or they really spent time perfecting this.. IT WORKS AND ITS GOOD. The way it tasted felt very homey almost like comfort food because it's just a mix of different proteins and just a slap of cheese and mayo - beware it's a bit oily but that's how you know it's flavorful. Highly recommend. They also offer a selection of beers that you can drink when dining in and I've tried the Salty Crew blonde that is also now my favorite new blonde lol. Overall service is quick and easy. Food takes about 10min depending if their busy. Parking is alright - we parked at Salt. EARL will always be an option if I'm craving a sandwich. read more

I like to order pick up online and sit with my dog outside. Family and kid friendly! The price points are good. The sandwiches are only $10! We got the "Firebird" and "Creamy Garlic". They were both very juicy and crunchy. Definitely worth the price. They are generally always busy, especially on weekends and holidays. They also have subs starting at $14.25. There's a variety of fried chicken styles: Nashville, Country, Creamy Garlic, and Hot Honey Old Bay - the Country version had a yummy herb mayo that I wish they had slathered on. I'm going to start off by saying that the 2 stars given is strictly for the employees that were running the front. They were VERY nice. They were obviously stressed out that the food was taking a long time to be made. I'd like to think that they were dealing with some "not so responsive" cooks behind the counter. Anyway, this was our first time here. I am so very sad to say that the burgers we ordered was the worst burgers we have ever had. They were very cold when they got served to us, and there was zero flavor on the burgers itself. We had to douse them in whatever sauces they had available. We had 3 Earl burgers, 1 Mushroom Swiss, and 3 Earl Fries. 2 of the burgers were raw & the fries were cold as well. I could not even finish my burger it was just so disappointing. My favorite sandwich spot!! I am obsessed with their chicken po boy sandwich but it always falls apart because it's so big. I also love their Italian but try to stay away from processed deli meats usually. Their philly cheesesteak and turkey club are also both delicious. Their earl fries used to come with the same chicken as the po boy sandwich and it was bomb.Com but now they only do that if I request it. How smart of Earl to be opened earlier than others! We've been wanting to try this place and were pleased to see they were open!! Looking at the menu, I knew right away I wanted to try the chicken Po' Boy and hubby ordered the pastrami burger. Wow, the pastrami is a melt in your mouth burst of flavor good and my chicken sandwich was huge with a ciabatta like bread with a good crunch and saltiness from the pickles and sauce. It's like a chicken Katsu sandwich but without the Katsu sauce is probably how to best describe it. We had some waffle fries, too, and was right out of the fryer so it was super good! The ketchup they give you is not actual ketchup... it's sweet and I wasn't so fond of that. I like just regular ketchup. I would've given five stars but they don't serve regular drinks here. They only had their specialty plantation iced tea and lemonade which is great but I wanted a soda. What sandwich spots don't carry soda? Anyway, we will be back! We will not come back here anymore. The food is good, but takes too long. The front desk cashier person that takes order is not friendly. She seems like she is in a bad mood, tired and underpaid. The eating area is dirty and outdoor sitting areas is mostly in the sun. For those reasons, we will not come back anymore. The outdoor tables are limited because most of them are not in the shade. No one is going to sit in the hot Sun to eat lunch in Hawaii. The limited two outdoor tables with 2 Sun umbrellas are also badly placed, the umbrellas are placed in way that does not shade the table, that's pretty stupid! If you want to eat here, better order take out ahead of time, so you don't need to wait a long time, and you don't need to endure eating on dirty tables, or look at the face of the moody, unfriendly cashier. The inside tables are dirty, no one wipes the table after people finished their food, but they obligate you pay TIPs at the cashier, without any options to choose "no tips" on their tablet. We, the customers had to wipe off sauces and lettuce, and dirt on the table and the chairs before sitting down. My Uber driver highly recommended this place. He even told me he was coming here after he dropped me off. So of course I had to come try it. I got the Cubano and a Lilikoi Lemonade. The sandwich just wasn't for me, it was a little underwhelming for the price. It felt a little too soggy, was on the small side, and didn't have enough meat for my liking. I would still come back to try a different sandwich. The Lilikoi Lemonade on the other hand was a 5/5. This was the best lemonade I had in Oahu. It was so good in fact I got a refill. I remember when EARL opened in Kaimuki a few years ago (maybe more, wow, I'm getting old). And then when they opened in Kaka'ako, I didn't really feel the need to go because the Kaimuki location was more convenient for me. If I was going to Kakaako, I would go to eateries that aren't usually convenient for me. So I would skip EARL because I know I can get it normally in kaimuki. Now that EARL Kaimuki has moved to market city, which is not as convenient, I think I may be visiting the Kaka'ako location more. I do like that the Kaka'ako location has more seating options and that it's not as hot as the Kaimuki location. They have a kind of limited menu of sandwiches, and they don't offer the best avocado toast I've had in my entire life anymore, but they often have specials like Philly cheesesteak weekends. This isn't like a subway in the way that you make it your own. It's kind of a set recipe in terms of what is included in each sandwich. I haven't had anything I didn't like here, it kinda just depends on what you're in the mood for. It's a little pricey and there isn't a whole lot of street parking if you come in the afternoon/evenings. They have a couple parking spots in the back, but I usually end up finding street parking. read more

The sauce was not as flavorful as I expected, and the meat was thicker-cut than I'm used to (but still tender and no problem to eat). I also tried the plain fries. These were nice and crispy, which I like when it comes to crinkle-cut fries. But they were over-salted for my taste, so maybe next time I'll ask for unsalted. All in all, I would like to try more items from the menu. They post specials to their Instagram, but it seems like they often sell out before dinnertime. I was first introduced to Earl years ago by a co-worker back when they were in Kaimuki. It was the first time I ever had avocado toast - it was THE BEST. I've since compared every avocado toast I've tried to theirs and no one has ever come close. Unfortunately, they ended taking it off the menu a few years later. My second favorite, the brisket sandwich was also taken off the menu. But we still supported and tried other sandwiches. We recently went back home to Hawaii and met up with friends who live a block away from Earl so of course we had to go! Well, I follow them on IG so I was aware the menu had changed a lot. They went from making amazing sandwiches to now making burgers and chicken. The focus on chicken seems pretty weird to both me and my husband considering Oahu now has Canes and Chick-Fil-A. Anyhoo, I ended getting the fried chicken po boy, my husband got the turkey club and our friends got the French dip. I was going to get the burger, but I asked the guy who took our order and he said to go with the po boy. I really hate to say it, but all of our sandwiches were just average. Literally breaks my heart because we used to LOVE this place. I know things change and probably those who never went to the old location enjoy the new menu offerings, but we weren't feeling it. Plus the new location lacks the charm of the Kaimuki location. If I reviewed Earl years ago it would be an automatic 5+++ stars. Based on my most recent experience, I'd give it a 3.
