This was our first time trying Early Riser Cafe in Cypress. We walked in hoping to find a new breakfast spot to add to our rotation. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and I will say our server was very nice and welcoming. One thing we immediately noticed, though, was that the menu prices were crossed out and changed. The waitress explained that prices have been fluctuating, but it did feel a little unpolished and confusing seeing gouged-out pricing on multiple items. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, and my wife got the South of the Border omelet. We also had the roasted potatoes, which ended up being a very small portion. My main issue was that several items listed (or expected) didn't come as described. The quesadilla was supposed to come with sour cream and pico, but they weren't served on the side. We were told the pico was inside the quesadilla, which wasn't noted on the menu. Additionally, both dishes had raw, unsautéed onions mixed into the scrambled eggs. That wasn't listed in the description, and I personally don't like raw onions, so it definitely affected the meal for me. I think ingredients like that should be clearly stated. The cheese sauce tasted like standard heated nacho cheese and was very runny, not what we expected from a breakfast dish. The sour cream also tasted off. Overall, while the service was friendly, the food and menu presentation didn't meet expectations. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning. read more

We stopped in at Early Riser Café and had a great experience overall. Our server, Liz, was wonderful, friendly, quick, and precise with service. She was also very informative about the menu (maybe a little too informative, but in a good and helpful way ). We were able to choose our own seating, and everything moved smoothly from start to finish. The food was tasty. we ordered a build-your-own omelet, eggs-your-way with mini pancakes, and a kids' meal, all of which came out fresh and satisfying. The only reason I held back from giving 5 stars is that the coffee was a bit on the watery side. Otherwise, everything else was spot on. I looked up this spot on Google cause I wanted something close to home and quick. Drove up and plenty of parking. We were greeted so happily when we walked in. Felt really homely. They only had a few customers at tables but it was late for breakfast. We put in our order and sadly it took 40 minutes to come out. The omlet was good! They forgot my pancakes but when they brought them out they were good and hot. The potatoes, coffee, toast...all were luke warm and borderline cold. Umm, no thanks. I really didn't like this place but you are more than welcome to try it. I don't think the eggs are real. They are more than likely powdered eggs. Yuck! Me and Twin A are pretty particular about our eggs. These were subpar. You could fix a better breakfast at home. My husband mentioned that their omelet was good and maybe that was fixed with real eggs. Who knows. Either way, I am not going back. Our server was nice though. :) read more

Welcome to a quaint little gem hidden off Fry Road! I've seen this place on Yelp plenty of times but wasn't sure about the food. Honey let me tell you!!!! The pictures ABSOLUTELY do no justice! I ordered the Philly Omelet. Baby you owe it to yourself to try it! You can be a big back and get the half order of waffles with it, but you'll be too full to enjoy anything other than a NAP! This place is not good at all. I do not understand how they have good reviews. I ordered the eggs over easy, grits, toast and bacon. The grits are clumpy and watery. Zero salt. Terrible. The eggs were cooked well but zero seasoning. The bacon was burnt black. And the toast was completely white. It was actually one of the worst breakfast I've had in cypress. Service was good. Salt and pepper shakers in the whole place were gross with rust covered lids. Rust was enough that there was rust inside the salt. Upon tell in the waitress about the rust she took it and wiped off the rust and brought it back. Of course seeing the rust still in the salt I had to complain again. I was then offered packets of salt. Even my cup was broken on the top edge. Come on people. You can do better than this!!! read more

I had the breakfast burrito, roasted potatoes, and a side of grits. With OJ! The food was great! I have a dairy allergy so I couldn't do any of the dairy, but they accommodated me and it was still amazing. Roasted potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The burrito was packed and was very filling! I'm stuffed! Waitress was fantastic and nice. I'm just passing thru from Florida, but if I was to ever come back to town, I will definitely come back here. Only thing I couldn't cope with is the fact they don't have the dairy free French toast. A lot of place accommodate like Dennys but there are also a lot that can't. So I understand. And I am not holding that against them. So I give them a 5/5. This was my second time here. First time, it was pretty busy on a Friday with lots of big parties from the surrounding schools. It was most likely the teachers. I decided to regroup and come back the next week. It's a small place but packs quite a punch. People are very nice here. I went with the stuffed French toast and added a side of bacon. They don't skimp on the bacon like some places. You get four slices. The coffee was nice and strong which is what you want with a nice breakfast. The French toast was delicious. I found The Early Riser Cafe on instagram. They are located in Katy on N.Fry Rd past West Little York. Augustine was my server and made sure I was well taken care of. I ordered Eggs my way which was over easy eggs, hash browns and nice crispy bacon. I also had coffee and orange juice. The food was prepared very much to my liking, very tasty. I found Early Riser Cafe after a very brief search of breakfast spots in Katy. After watching a cold soccer game, I wanted a great country style breakfast that was heavy on comfort. This place met my desires offering meals with mini pancakes as an option other than toast. I absolutely loved this offering since I wanted pancakes but wasn't ready to take on the huge size of a regular order. I had scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, and sausage with my mini cakes. The meal was served hot from the griddle straight to the table with no waiting. If you're there with a group, ask for permission to start the meal before them since all of the food doesn't arrive at the same time. Hello my fellow Yelpers. So the wife and I decided to go out for breakfast and we decided to check this place out and boy am glad we did! We started out with a couple of O.J.'s which were very good. They tasted freshly squeezed but I cannot confirm that. Wife ordered the classic eggs Benedict and I went with the Salmon. Eggs were nicely poached on both dishes, my dish tasted like a good ole bagels and lox's but, whatever that green sauce was on there elevated this dish to another level. It was great! The hash browns were good and needed...to sop up some of the delicious running yoke lol. Atmosphere was good (well it was only me the wife and someone waiting for a to go order lol), staff was super friendly. So let's go through the checklist: Good Food? Check Good Service? We always try to seek out family run/independent restaurants when we are traveling so on Father's Day we drove past IHOPs, First Watches and fast food breakfast options to seek out Early Riser's Cafe. A cute little place located in an unassuming strip mall, we were the only ones there when we arrived at a little after seven am. A young lady promptly came over to take our drink order. She brought our drinks and took our breakfast order with a smile. She continued to check on us regularly even after other customers came. DD ordered stuffed French toast which she declared "fantastic". Grandson and I had omelettes which were perfectly prepared. I especially loved the crispy roasted potatoes. THE HONEST TRUTH My first day of spring break, hubby and I decided to have brunch at this establishment hoping we would enjoy it. Although we were sort of on the fence about giving them a try, against our better judgement we gave them a chance. We sorely regret it as we were met with many disappointments. First, the customer service was great! Our server Cynthia was extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She was such a sweetheart. When we walked in, we found a table and took a seat. Cynthia immediately greeted us, introduced herself, and took our drinks order. Hubby ordered orange juice and I ordered coffee. My hubby said that the orange Juice was delicious and ice cold. My coffee was delicious with the French vanilla coffee creamer added. My only complaint is that the coffee wasn't steaming hot but instead lukewarm. I despise lukewarm coffee. Ugh! I should have just asked for ice coffee if I would have known I would be served lukewarm temperature coffee, lol. Furthermore, I ordered the three egg omelette built my way, consisting of tomatoes, jalapeños, mushrooms, onions, and grilled chicken accompanied by fresh fruits and buttered grits. I was disappointed with my breakfast as my grits were served cold and lumpy. They appeared to be hot because the butter on the grits was nice and melted but when I took a bite, they were cold as ice. Bit of exaggeration but yeah they were cold. This is evidence that the grits possibly sat out while the other part of my breakfast was being prepared. Anyway, my egg omelette was overcooked with that brown scorch taste. The grilled chicken inside the omelette wasn't fresh and it tasted old. Ugh! In addition to my disappointment, my husband was also dissatisfied with his breakfast. He had the chicken fried chicken and eggs breakfast and complained to me that his eggs were scrambled hard with a slightly burned-brown scorch taste to them. He was turned off by this. He prefer his eggs softly scrambled but not running. These eggs were scrambled hard and were brown from the heat being too high. His grits were cold, hard, and lumpy. Along with that, he said that the chicken fried chicken tasted like it wasn't real chicken ( unfresh), and that the gravy was weak and watery. The only thing that he enjoyed about his breakfast was the ice cold orange juice. Overall, this dining experience was dissatisfying mainly because of the food. Maybe the cooks in the kitchen like their eggs scorched brown and scrambled hard, but everyone is different. However, in the future, they should ask the customers how they would like their eggs prepared. The customer service rendered by our server Cynthia, was great. The dining area was very clean, but the hot sauce bottle and the salt and pepper shakers on the table were dirty. The hot sauce bottle had dried hot sauce on the outside of the bottle and it was greasy and the salt shaker was greasy and had black spots all over it. This evidence lets me know that they don't care to clean them after each guest. In my honest opinion, that's extremely distasteful and discouraging. I don't think we will be back in the future. I gave them two stars for the awesome customer service skills that were displayed by our server, Cynthia. The poor quality food and food presentation is why they lost the other three stars. They need to step up their A-game. When People are spending money in your establishment, it's important to make them feel that they have gotten their money's worth. This place was a pleasant surprise. My wife and a group of friends and I decided to stop in for breakfast. The menu is well-rounded and has a variety of options. I had an iced caramel coffee to drink--was great! My wife had orange juice. For our meals I had the meat lovers omelette--it was delicious!!!! It came with a side of hash browns which were nice and crispy and a couple pieces of toast. My wife had the "Eggs your way" plate with a side of pancakes, hash browns and sausage patties. Everything was delicious and fresh. Staff were attentive and nice as well. Throughout our time there people just kept coming in--a testament to other's positive experiences. Excellent service, we were greeted upon entering and brought menus within two minutes. I ordered the "Egg Your Way:" I choose to have my two eggs medium poached with pork sausage, house potatoes and sourdough toast. Potatoes were browned nicely and crispy. Sausage patties were flavorful and juicy. Toast nicely crunchy and not greasy with butter. Eggs were cooked perfectly as well. My son ordered 2-pancakes with bananas and strawberries with hot chocolate. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. Hot chocolate was not made from a mix, as you can see into the kitchen, but homemade. I couldn't be happier with the food or the service. We will be back!!!
