They were offering all‑day Happy Hour specials, which made the evening feel relaxed and easy from the moment we sat down. We ordered the Crispy Bang Bang Shrimp, Classic Crab Cakes, and Flash Fried Calamari to share, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The shrimp had the perfect balance of crisp and heat, the crab cakes were tender and well‑seasoned, and the calamari was light, crispy, and delicious. He enjoyed a Pinot Noir, and I had a Sauvignon Blanc -- both poured well and paired perfectly with the food. I'm up with a friend here for lunch. The service was good and the ambiance was nice, but I found the food rather average. I was excited to try the Captain crunch Chicken biscuit. When it showed up I was amazed by the large pile of food. As I began to eat though, I started to get disappointed. I cut into my fried egg expecting it to run all over my plate, but it seems like it was cooked somewhere between over medium and over hard. I was looking for tasting the hot honey, which appears to be under the dish as opposed to on top of it. I was looking forward to a soft fluffy biscuit, but it too was over hard. The Chicken was well cooked, a bit thin, and I'm not sure that the breading tasted anything more like Captain crunch than it did any other breading. However every time I cut into it the breading kind of just fell off into the gravy. The gravy and potatoes were redeeming, with good flavor gravy and well cooked potatoes. Saturday brunch overlooking the water was amazing. The wind was crazy but the atmosphere and food made up for it. My party of three ordered the breakfast egg rolls to share as a appetizer. There were plenty to share and very tasty. Eggs, cheese and crumbled sausage fried in an egg roll wrapper served with hot honey drizzle and roumalaud sauce for dipping. This is my second time trying Union Kitchen at a different location and i've been left underwhelmed both times. I ordered a kids grilled chicken tenders with a side of mashed potatoes along with a kids mac and cheese. Not only were the chicken tenders bland but the chicken was sooo tough. I also had tough fried and bland chicken tenders at the Humble location. It seems as if they're cooked from frozen but I don't know. As for the mac and cheese I like that it was a homemade sauce rather than kraft but it tasted nothing like mac and cheese sauce. Instead it tasted more like a garlic alfredo sauce without the parmesan. The only okay thing was the mashed potatoes. I liked the garlic flavor in them but I could've went without the parmesan cheese in them. Overall, I haven't been pleased with anything i've ordered from here so not sure if i'd recommend. read more

We came here for an early dinner but were quickly put off. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and they were fine, a little overly sauced and not crispy at all. I also ordered an espresso martini and it just tasted watered down and had an off taste to it. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich which was very underwhelming, the cheese looked halfway melted and lacked flavor. My MIL and I decided to split a brick oven pizza and truffle fries. The truffle fries were not warm at all either. The first pizza we received was burnt and didn't look like the pizzas from the reviews crust wise. We sent it back and received another pizza that still looked a bit off. We asked for the manager and she said that's what you get when you order a cauliflower crust pizza, but I never asked for that. Then our server tried to say I did. There must of been a language barrier because the only thing I asked for besides our food was crushed red pepper on the side. By the 3rd pizza they got it right, but we were just ready to get out of there by then. The manager comped the pizza for us but we just wished they had gotten it right the first time. If our server would have read back to us what we ordered it could have cleared it up before he input it. The view is great, but the food experience was one of the worst I've had here. read more

I had a birthday dinner here many years ago when it first opened and happened open this restaurant again today for an early lunch with a dear friend. We planned to go somewhere else, but it wasn't open yet. I'm so glad we decided to come here because they have brunch on Fridays, and it was the most incredible meal! My friend and I are total foodies, and very particular about what we like to eat. Just perfection beginning to end, service was stellar, the chef and manager both came out to great us at our table, and we got a free round of the most amazing beignets I've ever had! I had a steak omelette with a side of bacon. The omelette was absolutely delightful! The flavor profiles were similar to steak fajitas in omelette form. The breakfast potatoes were perfectly seasoned and super fluffy. Very generous portion for the price. Cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. Ambience and decor were delightful! My friend had the Belgian waffles with strawberries, scrambled eggs and sausage. She is very particular about her hot tea, and the tea served was very high end and right up her alley. Bravo!!!! I had lunch here a week ago for the first time . It is located in the Towne Lake entertainment center which is always a pleasant place to visit. Parking is in several adjacent parking lots. Union Kitchen has both inside and outside patio dining (with nice furniture) facing either the lake or the Center's common area. I ordered Tyler's chicken pasta entree for $20. While waiting on my meal, I admired the attractive dining room that features an open kitchen. UK has a nice upscale vibe to it. The meal arrived less than 15 minutes later. In the bowl was grilled chicken with garlic mixed in a sun dried tomato cream sauce over fettuccine. This was a very good tasting meal. I really liked the tomato sauce and thought it mixed well with the garlic chicken and pasta. It was filling too and our table service was prompt and attentive. For my first visit to a UK restaurant, I left very pleased and vow to return. I believe this is a very good choice for a delicious meal in a nice setting. read more

My husband and I went to the Union Kitchen on a quiet Tuesday night. We have been there quite a few times so we knew it would be good. The service this time was shaky-it took forever to place even drink orders and then filling them took longer. Eventually the manager came out and told us that they were dealing with an employee issue, and that they were slow due to that, but offered us a free appetizer due to the wait time. We ordered the calamari, which was excellent-it was warm and crunchy and there were cheese crumbles that made it extra special. For dinner I had the lobster grilled cheese, which was excellent. It came with house made potato chips that I didn't eat-they were quite soggy and there was so much other food-i didn't need them anyway. It also came with a cup of tomato bisque, which was perfect. My husband had the chicken fried chicken, which was also good. When paying the bill we noticed they gave us our appetizer at half price instead of free like they offered, which we thought was strange-but we had planned to buy it at full price originally, so we didn't say anything. In any event, we enjoyed our experience and will go back again to enjoy their delicious food. read more

I will give this place a solid three stars. Based solely on the service. AJ was amazing! The chicken satay skewers were pretty dang good. However, they missed two of the skewers with the satay sauce. Which was really good and basically the point of a satay. The slaw was pretty decent as was the sweet chili sauce at in accompaniment. The downfall was the hummus. It was basically just ground, chickpeas, very little spice, which seemed to have been applied to the bread instead of the actual hummus, and with no oil. No oil and hummus? This is like driving your car without motor oil. It's gonna be dry, flaky, and nasty and eventually going to go very wrong. Which it was. Luckily this was remedied by me asking for some olive oil and a copious amount of salt. Mmmmm. Salt. The drinks were pretty good. My martini, twist of lemon, sweet vermouth came out quickly, but after our food? But the bar ran out of lemons. What the fluff!?No lemons at a bar? AJ came to the rescue again and brought me a lemon twist to put in my martini after he was able to procure some. Again fantastic service by the wait staff. My girlfriend's whiskey sour was so chunky you basically needed to chew it. Apparently they did not pruree the fruit well enough to make it a drink. Not a smoothie. Based on the location, sitting by the lake, and the outstanding wait staff (way to go AJ!!) I would' come back and give this another go. I really did like those chicken skewers. Went here for my daughter's birthday dinner. Pricey but everyone was pleasantly surprised with their dishes. My daughter got the shrimp scampi. I got the Boost Bowl. A few got pasta bowls and I think the most unique dinner was the grilled cheese with lobster which they said was fantastic. Ended it off with a birthday song and this beignets were delicious. The location is beautiful, right off the water in Town Lake and there's a little play area for kids and they have a little book donation station. There was live entertainment as well. I stopped by here for a work lunch and it was good. It was your standard American cuisine. Plenty of seating both inside and outside is available. I went for lunch on a Friday but they also had a brunch menu available. I opted still to go for their hummus plate as an appetizer and the ahi tuna sandwich with fries. The hummus plate came out pretty delicious. The pita is cheesy and crispy. It also comes with some veggies like cucumbers that is seasoned. The hummus is good, but a bit on the thicker side. The ahi tuna sandwich is flavorful, but it came out a bit over cooked in my opinion. I asked for a medium but it came out well done. The fries were just okay, nothing to write home about. Pricing is average and expected. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food comes out pretty quickly and on a fun little robot. Oof! Perhaps we hit this place on the wrong day or ordered badly but not much went right. We ordered off the mocktail menu. I can't find the drink on the online menu but it was supposed to be an apple, ginger and cinnamon drink. What we got was apple juice. Fortunately someone came by and asked and they were replaced by something a bit better but still no ginger flavor. Hubs ordered the burger bowl, which sounded great on the menu but was a small patty, thankfully not overcooked, in a soggy mess of salad greens and fries. I ordered the portobello mushroom pizza. Yikes, what a disaster. First of all there was only four small slices of mushroom on the whole pizza. But the bigger issue was the fact that the crust was so soggy that you couldn't even lift a slice without it falling apart. Totally gross. I opted not to wait for a new one and they took it off our bill. The servers were fine and it was kind of fun watching their two robot servers bring food out, but I don't see us going back here again despite the gift card, with a pretty limited time frame, they gave us. read more

The server asked the manager, who we never saw/met, what she could recommend w my allergy and the suggestion was muffins, pancakes or waffles (they really pushed the muffins)...come on. Everything is deep fried in the same vat as their shellfish (potatoes, sandwiches, churros, etc...). The restaurant was the only one not busy in the mall area, which is why we went there. Probably should've been a red flag. Again, wanna make it clear that the service was friendly. But did not feel that the kitchen (or manager) were accommodating for my allergy. And there's no way, I am the only one going in there with an allergy... had to have been something they've dealt with in the past. I took a friend to lunch to celebrate a work anniversary on a random Wednesday at noon. Interior was nice and quiet. We were seated right away and greeted by the chef as well. I had never been there before and was shocked at the extensive options on the menu. It was hard to choose, but I had already come in with a craving for chicken fried steak! It did not disappoint. Large portion, great meat and yummy cream gravy. I can't wait to get back and try other things on their menu. I saw at least 6 to 7 items that I wanted to try. Zanetta was our server and she made the experience 10 times better by just being so kind, friendly, and by making some great suggestions. I'm a reservation person and appreciated that I can make reservations on OpenTable just to be safe. This is a white tablecloth and wine glasses at lunch type of place but I felt super comfortable coming in as casual as we were dressed! I might zhuzh it up a little bit more for dinner. I think this would be a great date place because just the menu itself is a conversation starter. Can't wait to bring my hubby back. I know he'll enjoy trying some of the different dishes they offer. Came here with a reservation for a large group and they were plenty ready for us. They took our orders promptly, our staff was very friendly and chatty and were quick to refill beverages. We shared the bang bang shrimp, lobster potstickers, and crab and tuna tower and all were very very good. The tower was fresh with tasty crispy wonton wrappers for chips. The bang bang shrimp had a great sweet and spicy combination and the pot stickers were so so good. This was my first time having a portobello mushroom sandwich and it had so much more flavor than I was expecting. It was smoky and with great texture and the bun was toasted and buttery. We ordered queso for an appetizer and kept asking if we could at least have that, after an hour it came and it came out cold and almost solid. Way to ruin my first Mother's Day! Mother's Day isn't to blame for running out of food, it's poor planning. Your restaurant has an occupancy and it wasn't even that busy. Stopped in for lunch while checking out homes in the area. The restaurant wasn't easy to locate as it's on the backside of the building and not facing the parking lot. Once inside, the staff was nice and pleasant and sat us quickly. Our waitress was very nice and brought us drinks quickly. We just ordered some small plates to share.
