Such mixed feelings about this place... I love their Kani salad California roll. I always get it. I've had their crab Rangoon's which are average and very expensive ... $6?! Sesame chicken was pretty good. The chicken was dry but at least it was chicken and not breading. Wonton soup was okay. I also ordered chicken lo mein recently which I wound up throwing out because it had this burnt taste to it. Maybe it was cooked in a dirty wok. Not sure but I couldnt eat it. I wanted to give it a higher review but I couldnt in good honesty. I bought from this location 3 times. Each time, I ordered the same thing, the general tso's combination platter and gyozas. The first time, I was elated, the food was tasty and they gyoza's were incredible. The rice was well cooked with a good amount of flavor. The chicken was moist, decent sized pieces. The second time, not so much happy, the chicken in the general tso's was gummy and some over cooked and hard to chew the rice was still tasty. The 3rd time, was similar to the 2nd time. Chicken was tough, rice didn't taste freshly cooked. The sauce for the General Tso's however is incredible. Yes I know people will say that the sauce is similar everywhere, but its not. You can taste a difference in the sauce here. They deliver which is also good. They have a very vast menu, which can overwhelm you. Very inconsistent sushi that sometimes is really excellent quality fish and other times the fish tastes old and slimy. The delivery is really quick, but I would rather wait longer if the food wasn't slimy. It's a small...more like tiny...takeout place that has Chinese food and maki rolls, sushi, bento boxes, teriyaki plates and even pad thai. Okay...usually these type of places, I don't like. Most of these type of places have a lot of different type of Asian food but none of it is any good. Well....this tiny little East 21 Boy I have to say at least gets their maki rolls to taste yummy. Let's first establish...I am not a sushi snot. Sometimes I just get cravings for maki rolls even though I am not a huge Japanese food fan. So here steps in East 21 Boy. Here are some reasones why I like East 21 Boy so much: 1. It's conveniently located by the main Jackson Heights train station. So when I am on the way home I stop by East 21 Boy before I step onto the bus...which as far as convenience goes, it's awesome. 2. Their prices are not too expensive. Which makes sense for the type of place it is, it's a Chinese takeout place. 3. It's fast. 4. I can get pseudo American Japanese food and pseudo American Chinese food in one place. Which could have not worked, but so far...so good at East 21 Boy. I have yet to try more of their menu so all I can comment on is their maki rolls. 5. I have never gotten sick here. All the fish in the maki rolls always were very fresh. The tuna, salmon, et al was always fine. Very delicious, very fresh always...good reason to return. 6. They even have lunch specials on Saturday which I would take the bus just to get it. Hey, what can I say. I like it. 3 maki roll lunch special until 4 pm Monday to Saturday is $9 and it comes with a your choice of miso soup, salad or soda or there is a 2 maki roll lunch special for $7.75...but for the $1.25 difference, I always pick the 3 rolls. They also have bento lunch box specials. Those are all the reasons why I love this place and have been returning again and again. read more

It really makes me sad to make this such a terrible first to review, but I feel it is my duty to warn the world. I was craving sushi in such a big bad way, and I was so sad to discover that my favorite local, Oki, didn't serve lunch on Saturdays (please please change that so I never have to wander astray again!). I found this East 21 Boy menu under my door a few weeks before, and had tossed it on top of my fridge for a rainy day. It may not have been rainy but it sure was frigid, and I sure wanted some sushi. Lesson learned - always wait for your favorite spot to open, I should have left this menu right on my fridge. First up - spicy shrimp roll. How is it even possible to ruin this? Oh, by completely dousing chewy shrimp in spicy mayo, that's how. I tried my best to wipe off the soup it had become in order to rescue a bit of shrimp, but it seems it was better when I couldn't taste it. Sad. I chucked most of this roll. Next - Lucky Roll. You mean lucky I didn't get seafood poisoning? If so, lucky indeed. The menu read: Eel, kani, salmon, avocado and tobiko with spicy mayo on top. Sounds good, right? Wrong. They neglected to mention it is oily, fishy cooked salmon, and that the whole roll is deep fried. I am of the school that believes in raw fish and fresh veggies for rolls, not deep fried, fishy, and gunky. This soon followed the poor little shrimp into the trash. I had figured veggie tempura is really impossibly to screw up. Especially since the delivery had been fast, I didn't expect it to get too soggy, but I knew it wasn't going to be extra crispy like freshly served. Imagine my surprise when I realized the tempura had never stood a chance - it came in a pool of oil. Now I don't know about you, but in my world, tempura doesn't drip oil. That's just wrong. The last, and only edible part of my meal, was the miso soup. Considering it was $1 and requires zero culinary skill (apart from wielding a spoonful of miso paste into some hot water) I can't exactly chalk this up some sort of culinary accomplishment. Oki, I am so so sorry. I will never go to anyone else again (at least not in Queens). Please forgive me, and start being open for lunch on Saturdays. I will never stray again. Decided to try delivery from East 21 on a rainy Friday night. Ordered a variety of foods to try. The listing for them says 35 to 45 minute delivery time. After ordering that time shot up to 50 to 60 minutes and we didn't see our order for 95 minutes. Also our order was missing an item which they refunded us for without any fuss. Now the food. The two maki rolls we ordered were good. Spicy tuna and Godzilla rolls actually had a hint of real spice heat level which is pretty rare. The tuna alsontast d good. The two pieces of tomago were ordered alacarte were also tasty being both eggy and a little sweet. The chicken yaki udon was tasty with the noodles cooked just right and an acceptable amount of chicken. The pan fried gyoza was fine. Maybe a little on the salty side so you don't need a lot of dipping sauce. I wouldn't be able to tell them apart from frozen ones you can buy. We also tried some items from the Chinese side of the menu. The chicken with cashews was highly populated with celery. So much so that everything just tastes like celery. General Tsao's shrimp was a little odd. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce was good. The coating/breaking though was wet and soggy. We used a coupon for free cold noodles with our order. I liked them but they're definitely a little odd. The top part of the dish tasted like cold sesame noodles with peanut and sesame sauce. The bottom layers though had soy sauce. So you had these sweet and smoky flavors fighting with the salty soy. Overall the food was tasty but I would have liked a correct order and on time delivery. I'll give them more chances in the future. They're health inspection grade was an A at the time of my order. read more

Been coming to this restaurant for about 4 years now and I will say it is the one fastfood place that you can get either or when it comes to sushi and chinese food. However I tend to only order from the chinese food menu because the sushi prices are somewhere near Manhattan's prices. The sushi here is also not that great in my opinion. I ordered an eel roll once or twice and received the fattiest parts of the eel that was not broiled properly. However I do frequent this restaurant when I want a good bee fried rice. Was desperate for a sushi night after months of not having it -- especially worse when we found out our usual spot no longer delivered to our location!!! -- and we decided to try this place. I'm always weary of new sushi spots because freshness is important with raw fish. And the man wasn't rude or anything which is surprising because I've had some rude delivery men acting as if they were doing a huge burden filled task by bringing us our food. Breakdown of the order: Miso soup -- standard, warm, and tasty tuna avocado rolls -- my favorite are salmon avocado rolls but these are my second favorite. And I was amazed when i saw them! Perfectly rolled, very vibrant hearty green chunks of fresh avocado, and gorgeous color of the tuna. I don't think I've ever seen tuna that bright before and I felt more inclined to eat it haha shrimp tempura roll -- very good. Loved the flavor and crispness. Done well Gyoza- pan fried. Didn't have much flavor at all, so wouldn't get it again General Tso's chicken -- was amazed at how tender the chicken was, and how large the chunks actually were. At other Chinese takeout shops, the chicken is tough, old, dry, but deeply fried with batter, so that's all you are really eating. With this chicken, it was actual chicken, with some light breading/batter and sauce. Lunch on a weekday at the restaurant. There are two menus here... the list of food is huge, with one dedicated to chinese and the other newer menu dedicated to japanese. A few of us ate here and had different teriyaki Lunch combos. The prices were about average... ($7.25-8.75) teriyaki lunch combos and ($5-6) for chinese lunch combos. Both are available from open until 4pm. The combos come with either a can of soda or the miso soup which was large and tasted a little questionable. It was still good with its tofu and seaweed, but after it got cold, it lost any favor it had with me. The food portions were also large, lots of rice, the the teriyaki sauce was ok, the salmon was good, the chicken was good, but the fried foods were mediocre. It's probably be advised to get the chinese food. The cons were mostly based on eating at the location. Two tables for 4 is all the seating available. Plus delivery guys are constantly in and out since they offer free delivery which didn't help us at all because it was cold and the door doesn't close all the way... unless you hold it in place for a sec. You can order at the counter and wait for your food, but for a couple bucks in tip, it's way worth it to order delivery or at least pick it up and take it to go. I'm curious to try the chinese food here since it's "really" a chinese restaurant. I'll try this place again, but maybe when it's warmer or I'm getting delivery. Cash only. Just the first time for order and will be the last time for me. I called to order 2 menu, and reminded the staff who received my order to let the delivery guy call me when he arrived at my front door because I'm not home yet. But he came inside my building before called me. And I'm waiting in front of my building entrance and when the delivery guy came down he complain me why I am so late!!! I said you can't entered to my building without ring the bell to let the residents allow you to enter. And he said he was busy so I paid him for food but not for tip because he complaining the customer. So he got angry and said "you do not order the food from my restaurant again" I said sure and will call the restaurant for complaint. After that I called to restaurant and the staff said she will report to the manager. That's it!!! good job for your business about response to the customers. When I checked my food, I ordered fried chicken curry but they gave me for chicken cutlet curry!!! I swear to myself that this will be the last time for me to order from this restaurant. It really hurts my heart to write this update... but I cannot keep a public positive review after what came in an order I received recently... I ordered the chicken satay. The sauce that came with it was honestly unrecognizable as peanut sauce. I tasted a tiny bit before realizing that it smelled "off", and it was so disgusting that I honestly couldn't tell you if it was peanut sauce, puke, or diarrhea. Seriously.... it was that disgusting. I'm feeling ssssooo bad rating this restaurant with 4 stars instead of 5 because this is by far the best Sushi that I've ever tasted and believe me I've been in a lot of Sushi restaurants and this Sushi is made in heaven!!! The salmon and Unagi rolls are so big, delicious and fresh that is like an explosion of flavors in your mouth. My cousin found this place and she fell in love with it. When I went to NY for vacation she took me there and the place is not nice looking at all. To be honest if she wouldn't recommended this place to me I would never enter to buy anything there, so this is the reason that I'm giving them 4 stars but besides that I don't have anything wrong to say about this place. I order from this place a lot considering that the service is pretty fast. However, when I got my order today I was disappointed with the change in the portion of the food. Usually the chicken katsu curry I order would have the curry filled up to at least 3/4 of the container, but it only filled up 1/4 not even filling up to half of the plastic spoon when I stuck it in. I understand that without a price increase they're slowly decreasing the portions, but decreasing to the point that I don't have enough curry to spread over the amount of rice they give, seriously?! read more

I just got food from here via seemless, as in 10min ago. Terrible! I have never got food from here and I will never again. The gyoza was supposed to be steamed and not partially cooked.
