Pancakes and Side of Bacon with Coffee

East Egg is my go to for breakfast. These people work their ass off serving the community of Kalamazoo. They consistently serve great, high quality food, and pleasant conversation. The staff will bend over backwards to make your visit pleasant. This is a mom and pop operation, so please go support them.

The manager at this location didn't believe me when I called to tell her that not only was the whole order wrong, which I was going to eat anyway and not say anything, but then I chomped on this huge piece of METAL. Their whole practice must be half-witted and lazy, which is dangerous in a kitchen.

As a young girl, I was always told that Breakfast should be the most important meal of the day, it's fuel for your day to get Started! East Egg by WMU campus did not disappoint, I have been watching SM postings of some their dishes and had to go in to see what it was all about. My kids got a Cheeseburger w/ French fries and their dinner plate size Chocolate Chip pancakes. I am a sucker for a good corned beef and tried the Northerner which includes 2 eggs, corned beef hash (must add green peppers/onions), hash browns and toast! Packed full of juicy flavors and perfectly well seasoned. I definitely will be headed back to try other menu items!

Awesome and great service. Came in and ordered. Food came fast but wrong and replaced immediately and even better kept the mistake.

Pancake Combo - added cinnamon roll topping

There weren't any tables available, not surprisingly at 10:30am on a Sunday, when I arrived. I was greeted quickly and then had a table within 5 minutes. I overheard many say "you have to get the cinnamon roll pancakes". So I ordered the Pancake Combo, with 2 pancakes, meat and eggs. Adding the cinnamon roll was $2 more and worth it! The pancakes were huge and I could only finish half. Will be back to try more things.

East Egg by WMU is a great spot to grab breakfast!! The Good: *The food is good and comes out quick! *Service is good and comes with a smile. (Unless your server is hungover) *Endless coffee refills *Try the freezer jam!! The needs improvement: *My coffee cup had dry coffee spots on the side and there wasn't enough time for the coffee to dry from the time my server poured and brought me my coffee. Overall: We'll be back because the food is delicious! A solid 4 stars.

We visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast when most of our area was without power after some…read morebig storms rolled through. Admittedly our first choices were not open due to power outages. This is a new place that we have never noticed before. I believe this building used to house Theo and Stacey's and then Berries. The service was attentive and kind here, however our meals left us with a less than stellar opinion and a lack of desire to return. I can see from another reviews here that the owner says the food is mostly "house-made". I am not certain if this phrasing means the same thing as homemade, but none of our meals tasted at all homemade. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with the added option of eggs and potatoes for an extra $3. Nothing on my plate tasted homemade to my palate. The biscuits were not warm and tasted like a premade item, not like a fresh biscuit, at all. The gravy definitely had a canned taste and appearance - not flavorful or very warm. The eggs were fine, cooked to order. The breakfast potatoes did not look fresh cut and were undercooked and not seasoned as our waitress described. They definitely had a premade appearance. I have ordered biscuits and gravy all over this town, I'm not a rookie in this field. ;) My son ordered a Benedict. It was very basic, as expected, but with a bland, cold sauce. My husband ordered an omelet with the breakfast potatoes and toast. If you order sourdough toast it only comes with one piece, which is fine, but it's not true sourdough from a fermented starter. It appeared to be regular, thin bread from a packaged, pre-made loaf. He also commented that the potatoes appear to be out of a frozen bag, not a homemade appearance, taste, or flavor. The omelet was bland but they do provide salt and pepper as well as one hot sauce choice to flavor things up a bit. The coffee was very diner-esque. Lacking in flavor and strength. However our waitress kept our cups full and warm! There were a couple of larger groups present which kept the atmosphere quite loud during our visit. However the restaurant is cute and has quite a few tables to hold a good sized amount of patrons at once. With a tip our total for 3 breakfast entrees and two coffees was just shy of $60. I know that prices are on the higher side these days, but this was extremely disappointing for the food that we were served. There are so many wonderful breakfast restaurants in our area - another choice might benefit both the tastebuds and wallet! I try to be kind but honest in my reviews here, two stars is generous.

The food was good and the waitress was on point when she needed to be she was super quick the food didn't take long at all. We go two smash burgers a classic and traditional both greatly prepared I highly recommend this if you're looking for a good burger in the Kalamazoo area our bill was only 33 bucks with burgers fries and drinks

We chose Brick and Brine to celebrate a very special Anniversary!…read more Brick and Brine provided us with an absolutely phenomenal dining experience!! Our dinner stretched out over a nearly 3 hour time period, but felt like it flew by at the same time! Never rushed, but intentional and SO enjoyed!! Our waiter was fabulous and made sure that our every need (and want!) was met. He went over and above for us and we loved every moment!! I wish I had gotten his name to mention here! We started our evening browsing the cocktail menu. The offerings are vast! We ordered two different kinds of old fashioned options, always a favorite! One had very unique twist and arrived on fire/smoking! The drink continued to have a smoke effect, but this did not highly alter the flavor! It was delicious and fun! "It adds drama" is how our waiter put it, and he was right! :) It was called "Fire House No. 4". Next we perused the appetizer section. The choices were excellent and we landed on the meatballs, going off of recommendations and previous experience! For meatballs, they were indeed quite delicious but if I'm being completely honest I don't think I'd choose them again. I would venture out a little more. The scallops came highly recommended by our waiter. Also highly recommended was the steak tartare! After our appetizer we ordered a wedge salad. This was wonderful! It mimics what you'd traditionally expect from a wedge salad - this one served with multiple small wedges of iceberg lettuce - but the toppings elevate so nicely! Bleu cheese, the most delicious marinated tomatoes, pickled red onions, and the best, most flavorful chunks of bacon! This was a favorite!! It was finally time to decide on entrees. This was tough! There are many choices I'd like to try and we will definitely be back to try some more. Because this was a special meal and we had heard very good things, both of us ordered the ribeye steak. This is a large piece of meat that arrived with mouthwatering presentation. While the flavors were most definitely evident of a quality piece of meat, I would personally not choose this exact entree again. The meat was well cooked, and done to my requested level, but arrived not very warm. I like my food hot and while I acknowledge that a fine steak presentation likely requires a rest time, my own opinion is put off when I feel like my food is in any way on the cold side. I did not complain about this - and it doesn't affect my rating, but it is worth noting and something I'd like to know when making a decision for ordering! Other entrees that I saw coming out around me that I am SO very interested in trying on a future visit were the fried chicken (WOW! The presentation on this dish is NEXT level!) and the salmon! Everything I saw coming to nearby tables looked quite stunning and I'd quite honestly like to try each dish from their menu! ;) This place is quality, it is very evident! We paired our dinner entree with two side items. The side items are large, intended to serve multiple people. We chose the crispy fingerling potatoes and the Brussels sprouts. Both were perfection! We loved them! The Brussels sprouts had SO much flavor! Even the leftovers the next day were so delectable! We finished our meal with the most exceptional dessert! It was a hard decision but we chose the Chocolate Hazelnut Flourless Torte! AMAZING! It was served with an orange creamsicle ice cream which sounds like a strange accompaniment for these flavors but it fit so very well with the dish. The hazelnut crémeux on the side was also exceptional - just a really great dessert, all around! Alongside our dessert we ordered an elevated espresso that was absolute perfection! One of THE best dessert cocktail beverages I have ever had! I highly recommend this either as your dessert or as an accompaniment! So, so good! Even though there were a couple of things during this meal that I personally would not choose to order again, everything was still superb! I can't choose any less than five very deserved stars!! This was such a great experience at a very fine, local, Kalamazoo restaurant!! Be prepared to spend some five star dollar amounts, but also be prepared to receive a five star, not just meal, but entire experience!! ;)
