Nice to have a dim sum option on this side of town. Conveniently off of TV highway, and ample parking, East Harbor offers a little something for everyone. I was surprised how big their menu is, and that it spans from Cantonese dim sum to Sichuan spicy dishes. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. The dim sum is your typical standard fare. They make a good pan fried noodle dish and congee. Of the dim sum items, I think I liked the har gow the best. The rest of the items I think they could use some better seasoning. Service wise they do need a few more carts going when it gets busy. The last time we went, my mom just up and walked over to the cart that was on the other side of the room to get some items. Or just switch to the "pencil and order on demand" method. Saves some of the service hassle. There are some nice banquet sized tables towards the back of the dining room, with lazy susans and such. If you're not looking to go east side for dim sum, this is a suitable place. read more

A few months ago, we came here for dinner with our family from out of town. It was quiet but the service was exceptional and the food was good! It felt very traditional, especially with the lazy Susan's and being able to eat family style Chinese dinner. Every dish we ordered was large and perfect for a large family. Very flavourful, too! This Saturday morning, we went for dim sum with a few friends. I loved that they had carts going around. We arrived right at opening with many other guests, but were promptly serviced. We're all from more Asian areas so it's so nostalgic to sit and speak Cantonese. I was impressed with all of the food. They don't have as many options as other restaurants, but they do have all the basics (har gow, siu mai, cheung fun) that you need. And they were incredibly tasty!! I went with my parents and we haven't been here in awhile! However, we heard that they have 50% off on all dim sums everyday from 11-3pm (except for holidays). So my parents right away to try! They used the carts again to roll around and they had the steamed one and baked/fried cart. We ordered all the things we like. To name a few: Ha gao, siu mai, fung jao (chicken feet), lo bak go (turnip cake), wu gok (fried taro ball), salted egg yolk bread, shin roll, etc. We ordered a lot so we could take them back at home for another dim sum day haha. Overall, everything was good, fresh and mostly hot. Some were mid warm but none were cold so it was a win, haha. Service...the guy was the friendliest. Late post but we dined in sometime in November and didn't really think we would be returning as the interior is really aged and smelly and dimmed in lighting, kind of dark. It is very large dinning area for large parties. linen is used for table cloth had some stains and seems aged...their bathroom is right when you walk in and with the doors open it smells like bleach and just gross before you walk to dinning area. Service is quick to order and they do come by to check on you once food arrives. We dinned ij for some mainstay dimsum and ordered one clay pot eggplant dish. I noticed food was hot and clay pot wasn't and didn't have any food stuck to it as if it was cooked in there. The price charged for it however having eaten many clay pot dishes I think it was cooked in a wok on stove then transferred over..perhaps it's just a gimmick that it sounds fancy and at the same time you'll only ever know if you actually were a staff in kitchen. In addition to the clay pot eggplant dish, we ordered chicken feet, bean curd roll with pork and siu mai. Bean curd rolls were so disappointing, lack of the gravy sauce that goes over it to keep it moist and the pork meat was smelly, so pungent that I was not able to finish my bite. Never ordering it again. Some of the siu mai and chicken feet were not hot like right out of steamer. Chicken feet was soaked in a very sweet syrup like sauce, a bit too sweet for our preference, not savory. We did take out for dimsum today. Ordered online and it was a very simple process. 4 orders of their siu mai and an order of glutinous fried dumpling. Siu mai was moderately hot as they steam it and then pack it so it is up to you to heat it up to eat at home. Glutinous fried dumplings were crispy but taste was a bit lackluster with no flavor and very little filling. I've had better ones else where and it's packed with filing and more flavor even in the glutinous dough wrap. Overall, would recommend to do online order and take out only. They look inside the bag to determine if you are allowed to get more soy sauce and chili oil, we asked because we were given very small amounts for 16 pieces of siu mai. read more

Same as before, but worse service. We arrived around 1:45pm and it seemed pretty busy. The waiting area was full of people. We were #23 on the list and they just called #18. We stuck it out for another 20 minutes. After the lunch rush pretty much everyone in the queue got seated. We barely got any attention. People who were seated after we were seated got their food first. We ordered har gow, pork siu mai, fish congee, chicken feet, lo mai gai. I was ready to order a second round as soon as our initial order came out. Unfortunately, after 20 minutes, we only got our har gow, chicken feet and congee. we were there a total of 90 minutes. We came here for their 50% off June deal and it exceeded my expectations. My SO and I ordered several things and we were amazed by the portion sizes. It's a little hard to tell from photos, but they were HUGE compared to HK and Excellent Cuisine on east side. The Ha Gao, pretty small though, but still, all our other dishes were large portions, leaving us EXTREMELY full. I was a little disappointed because a food influencer mentioned that they were walking around with carts. We personally like the carts better because it's easier to visualize, but having it come out "fresh" is better. I will admit, it was a little disappointing because a table behind up turned away one of their dishes because it was really frozen. When I heard the couple talking, they said half their food was frozen, but the Chicken feet was kind of their "tipping point" for complaining. As for service, it was okay. I'm assuming the establishment is family owned. One of the servers was a bit rude to other customers, but she's young so it's understandable. When I was her age, I used to be a server at a busy restaurant that was short staffed so I can understand the stress sometimes. Overall, a solid place if I was lazy to drive to east side. This is my family's go-to for dimsum. I wanted to give it a 3.5 star review because the last time we ate there, the chicken feet were almost flavorless.. my dad gave the server this feedback, and she let the chef know. She offered another dish of our choosing, so we asked for egg tarts. Turns out, we had to pay for that, and it wasn't quite an "offer." Miscommunication, I guess? Usually, though, the chicken feet are pretty good. We also always get their pork chops, 落米雞 (sticky rice), tripe, BBQ pork buns, 奶黃包 (egg custard bao), shiumai, and hagao. My favorite is usually the chicken feet, hence feeling extra bummed the last time. I haven't written this place off my list yet and will definitely be back to try again! read more

I ordered the Mongolian chicken lunch combo with crunchy noodles, egg flour soup, and a spring roll. The egg flour soup was terrible. No flavor ie salt and the corn wasn't sweet. How do you not have sweet corn? The chicken entree was delicious as was the noodles. The spring roll was pretty standard. I wish I wouldn have had to ask for soy sauce and a fork. This was our 3rd time to visit this restaurant, except this time it was a busy Easter Sunday brunch. My mom unfortunately had the unfortunate experience of biting into a steamed bun and ended with a mouthful of a full length hair cooked in the pork bun. She was so disgusted we almost walked out without paying. Due to the day being Easter I decide to have the manager adjust the bill minus the steamed buns and went home. Just a heads up seems like they can be in violation of numerous health department rules. Food isn't bad but I'm writing this because one of the servers was very unprofessional. I came in with friends when they opened at 11 AM on a Sunday. There was only one other table besides us but after they left, one of the male servers says to their coworker, "Why are they staying and talking for so long, when they're already done eating?" in Chinese. As the only Chinese speaking person in the party, he probably had no idea but that doesn't mean it's okay to say. We didn't even stay that long but he acts as if there is a long line out the door when we're the only ones there. After the comment, he just goes back to playing on his phone at a nearby table. The restaurant is in a very old building, interior is dark and has that old smelling. We went there for dim sum, I had the worst shrimp dumplings there. Dumpling wraps were too thick and I couldn't find any shrimp in the dumplings. The crispy noodle we ordered was ok. This is not the place for authentic Chinese dim sum. read more

Then the entrees - sweet and sour chicken; eggplant and string beans; a Szechuan chicken dish and fried rice with a bit of broccoli in it to brighten it up, traditional Chinese broccoli. Very good dim-sum, service was slow. They are obviously short staffed. Seems to be a problem at many places. Attitude was, well, typical of a dim-sum/Chinese restaurant. While I can get around an attitude I know many people take offense. I would say don't let that sway you and try their dim-sum. Their other dishes like beef chow fun are really good. read more

The service here isn't spectacular but I would consider East Harbor to be the best dim sum restaurant on the West side, though their overall dim sum menu isn't as extensive as most (they do have the classics: shu mai, shrimp dumplings, layered noodles, etc). My family comes in about every month alone just for the Peking Duck; our favorite menu item here. The Peking Duck is served as either a one course, two course, or three course meal. I highly recommend the sliced skin with shrimp chips and steamed buns (usually served at Asian weddings), or the chopped stir fry lettuce wraps. The third options is that they also make the scraps into a nice duck tofu soup. Another favorite is the garlic pea sprouts! read more

My family and friends celebrated a birthday dinner here. There were nine of us. We all enjoyed the food very much. The clay pot seafood dish, tofu and chicken dishes were plentiful and delicious. The hot and sour soup was rich and very tasty. I found the chicken chow main generous, good but a little too dry. The service was wonderful and very attentive. We all agreed we will return. Been going to East harbor for years, unfortunately the food has dramatically lost it's flavor. The dim sum is still good though, but it's the rest of the menu that has fallen off. Fried rice bland, Stir fried egg noodle in supreme soy sauce is bland, Roast duck was dry, Mao Po tofu bland. I came here on a whim on my way home from work in the evening (by myself), as I was craving dim sum. All of the staff members were incredibly kind and helpful with their suggestions. I ended up ordering 3 dim sum items, which were on the appetizer section of the menu (shu mai, ha gao, bbq pork buns; each priced $11-13). These prices were great for the big serving sizes each container had, which they informed me is about double the typical amount served 11am-3pm. The tea was fantastic and loose leaf. The decorations were beautiful, and the dining room massive. I can only imagine how busy it gets during brunch time, when dim sum is usually eaten. We ordered a pile of food through Grub Hub on a Wednesday night. It was delivered EARLY (unheard of) and it was fresh, hot, and delicious. We got: -Mongolian Beef; which was tender and tasty. It came sliced , sprinkled with sesame seeds ( sigh, love those cannot eat them and they were not in the menu pic) and a little cup of teriyaki-ish dipping sauce. It was a little expensive once all the delivery fees, tip, etc. were added. If you live close I suggest you go pick up. All in all though it was pretty good. We had food delivered here for Lunar New Year. Minutes after placing my order I was informed the eggplant I ordered they did not have, so they replaced with another dish. I was impressed by how quickly they contacted me. Our food arrived earlier than expected, it was hot and delicious. Don't let the building mislead you, they don't seem much on the outside but they offer excellent Cantonese food. Authentic Cantonese food big portions and fast service. This is my last testament for this place. Never going back, all the latest Yelp trends I read I now can add to. The weight of an understaffed business has now manifested to very consistently bad experiences overall. Before I go on, you can look up their Washington County restaurant inspection report... and decide for yourself how bad things have gotten. -------- We went a few days after New Year's with family visiting and it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. 1. We ordered a bbq meats dish, the bbq pork looked like it has sat out for a day or two, sure the red marinade is partial food color but it had faded. Duck portion was just okay in itself. 2. If you're into beef tripe as a dim sum dish, they have a very bland rendition, barely any white pepper or jalapeno flavors. 3. The kalbi style steamed short ribs were all clumped together, signaling it also probably has sat there for a while. And the mother of all hilarious service disaters only in fictional writing came true: Me: Hi there, what do you have in the cart? Cart dude: (blank stare) Me: So would you like to tell me what choices you have? Cart dude: (looking in the distance) you tell me what you want, I'll tell you if I have it. Ding ding ding!!! You've justified a rare 1 star Yelp review by me! Congratulations! By mid January, anyone that's in the know will be heading to the new Chinatown Restaurant site in the heart of Beaverton anyway. I have tried their dim sum, different fried rice, BBQ/roasted pork, roasted duck, five spice duck, East Harbor flavorful chicken, thai curry crab, sweet-n-sour pork, walnut shrimp etc. I like almost all dishes I have ordered so far. I like almost all their dishes except sweeet-n-sour pork and walnut shrimp because the batter was too much/thick to actually taste the proteins. I thought they did a good job with their fried rice because the grain has been perfect (not mushy/wet). Large plain rice at $8 is pretty pricey. Lots of parking, friendly services. read more

They are so attentive to you, greet you with a smiling face, and you can tell they take pride in what they are serving. The food is so good; our new go-to dim sum spot. Came here for dinner while visiting family. They have their own parking lot, so no worries on where to park. The restaurant lights are brightly lit outside. The interior has a very Eastern feel with a spacious dining room with many sized tables. Servers there are very attentive, while the chefs are knocking out orders in a timely manner. We ordered a whole roasted duck with rice, string beans with eggplant, Chinese broccoli, Chicken fried rice and beef chow fun. I literally had no complaints about any of the food. It was delicious! The roasted duck was juicy still, packed with traditional flavors. The Chinese broccoli was tender yet crisp with plenty of sauce on the side. The string beans with eggplant was great. I'm not a huge fan of eggplant, but I actually had a few pieces here. Can't go wrong with chicken fried rice. It was loaded with plenty of veggies and chicken. The beef chow fun is one of my all-time favorites and it definitely hit the spot with its generous portions of noodles and beef. I have yet to try their dim sum but have high hopes for another satisfying visit in the future. read more
