    Chicken Teriyaki Bento
    Patrick D.

I'd like to preface this review by saying, I've been to Nikki Sushi & Steak. It was a long time ago and I could barely afford to go out to eat at all. But now, I'm in a better spot financially and happened to be in the neighborhood of this much newer location. Maybe the food would taste better when it was less painful for my wallet? Service was good. It wasn't super busy despite it being lunchtime. It was fairly quiet, nicely decorated and very clean. Since it was our first visit, we didn't want to go overboard. So my wife ordered the Hibachi Shrimp and I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento + Las Vegas Roll. Everything looked great. Beautifully presented sushi. The Las Vegas Roll is smoked salmon+cream cheese tempura roll. It was surprisingly warm inside, light and crisp on the outside. You can tell that I'm used to mediocre sushi because I was surprised by how warm the center of a deep-fried sushi was. But the quality didn't last. I watched my wife pick at her order. This was troubling because she only ever orders seafood every chance she gets. We'll get back to her order in a moment. The chicken teriyaki bento came out, not in a sectioned box like most places have it. It was a modern take on a cafeteria style tray. I know that's pretty much how a bento box looks, but growing up in the 1980s, it just reminded me of my lunch served in a cafeteria tray. I feel like I get better chicken teriyaki at Panda Express. This chicken was like they took an unbreaded piece of katsu chicken, julienne sliced it and poured a scoop of teriyaki glaze on it. The rice was a bit dry too. Luckily, I prefer my rice to be a bit on the dry side (as opposed to overcooked and mushy). But it was really dry and almost crunchy. When I finished my chicken, I mixed the rice with the remaining teriyaki sauce. Now, my wife was still picking at her food. I ended up giving her the California roll that came with my bento. Then I took a crack at her meal. There were 4 shrimp on a bed caramelized onions mixed with soggy crimini mushrooms. They were slightly charred, which I appreciated. The fried rice was basic - soy sauce and diced onions in it and maybe some msg to help make it more savory. It came with a dipping sauce? I guess it was for the rubbery, overcooked shrimp that we were served atop the soggy onions. The meal wasn't good enough for my wife to stomach. I was a bit sad but relieved, because it was my treat to her. I would have been furious that she'd spent her hard-earned cash on such a disappointing meal. I am not the best cook, but I am THE cook at home. I eat my mistakes, and serve the better stuff to my spouse or guests. Today, I ate someone else's mistakes to remind myself that just because I spend a day's pay someplace doesn't mean it'll be any better than a fast food burger. Now, I normally try not to be so harsh on an initial review. I prefer to go to a place a couple of times to make sure they weren't having an off-day. But I'm not planning on coming back. The sushi is pretty good. But I already know about 6 other places in town that are similarly priced and produce better quality food. So I can't wholeheartedly recommend this place. The rest of the menu? Well don't tell me the more expensive stuff is much better. If any place is worth their salt, they'll make sure everything on the menu is good, even the lunch special. 3 stars - staff was friendly and the place is clean.

Stopped in for lunch before going to Market of Choice. My partner and I both ordered the Lunch Bento and upgraded the sushi (neither of us like California rolls). Sushi was fresh and rice was cooked perfectly. I loved the dressing on the salad. We ordered rare beef and it was seared perfectly. The teriyaki was not too sweet with a nice tang. The person waiting on us was attentive and helpful. The restaurant was clean and you could see the Sushi chefs cleaning the fish. I'm excited to come back

Pretty decent sushi! Presentation was really nice and the rolls were decently sized. What I tried was missing any "wow factor", but it was definitely good and I would come here again.

    Green tea

The food is good, and I enjoyed the overall experience. My only suggestion is regarding the hot tea service. The teapot appears to be made entirely of plastic, both inside and out. Since hot liquids can cause some plastics to release microplastics and other substances, it may be worth considering alternative materials. For health, safety, and tea quality, I hope the restaurant will consider switching to glass or ceramic/clay teapots. I believe this would enhance the tea-drinking experience and provide greater peace of mind for customers.

We went a few weeks ago and really enjoyed despite some of the negative reviews. Glad we still gave it our own try. The food was very fresh and tasty. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. It was enjoyably quiet for a Saturday evening with the bar area and a few other tables filled. Would go again and try other items.

This sushi was so worth it. I've wanted to try their other location for a while, but now that this one opened and it's closer to me, I decided to check it out. The environment is very lively and clean. Staff were friendly and sat us pretty quick. We ordered a dragon roll, ninja turtle roll and chicken karaage and it was amazing. It came out on this cool plate with smoke coming out of the fish mouth. Sushi in the Portland Metro is always the best!

Great food, fast service, beautiful location. We have ordered twice. First time there was a hiccup where the front desk misunderstood that I wanted to cancel my order although I had just called to confirm the address for pickup. But they were able prepare our order when we reached there so all good! The second time was dine in and we had a great experience. We have had yakisoba noodle with chicken, bento box, dragon roll sushi, karage chicken, spicy girl sushi and sake. Everything was amazing, just felt the quantity is low for the price we pay. It's a good place to if you want to splurge a little with good food and ambience.

Great addition to Reed's Crossing! I love this place. Stylish and relaxing. The food was delish. Family friendly. They have a kids menu & lunch menu. Most important to me is that they have Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice! Fun and delicious roll menu. The chefs & wait staff are friendly and helpful. Can't wait to try more.

The space is beautiful, spotless, and full of thoughtful details. The food is outstanding--crafted with care and executed masterfully. Watching the owner and chefs prepare each dish was such a treat. The menu itself is stunning, with photos that match the quality of the food, and the lunch bento box options are a great touch. Our server, Phoi, was absolutely wonderful--kind, attentive, and so knowledgeable. Her recommendations were spot on, and everything we tried was delicious. Can't wait to return!

Food was decent, wasn't amazing but wasn't terrible. Portions are kinda small for the price. They need to hire more waiters/waitresses. I waited awhile for my food and it wasn't even busy. My waiter was nice but the hostess in the front could've been more friendly. It's very clean inside with nice interior design. Overall the food was just okay, but wouldn't go back because I had better.

A Ramen Masterclass in Beaverton! If you are looking for…read morethat perfect, soul-warming bowl of noodles, Koku Ramen & Bites in Beaverton is an absolute gem. It's located in the Timberland Town Center and manages to perfectly balance a modern, trendy vibe with authentic, traditional flavors. Here is why it's a 5-star standout for me: The Broth (The Soul of the Bowl): I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, and the broth was incredible--creamy, rich, and clearly simmered for hours. It has that deep, milky consistency that only comes from true craft. If you like heat, the Spicy Miso has a perfect, layered kick that doesn't just overpower your taste buds. The Noodles: They get the texture exactly right. You can choose your firmness, and they have that perfect "chew" that holds onto the broth beautifully. The "Bites": True to their name, the appetizers (bites) are not to be skipped. The Pork Gyoza are perfectly seared, but the Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) is the real winner--juicy on the inside and impossibly crunchy on the outside. The Chashu: The braised pork belly is melt-in-your-mouth tender. They give it a quick torch sear before serving, which adds a beautiful smoky aroma to the whole bowl. The Vibe: The restaurant is clean, sleek, and has a great energy. The staff is welcoming and incredibly fast, making it a perfect spot for a quick lunch or a cozy dinner. Pro Tip: Don't forget to add a Marinated Soft-Boiled Egg (Ajitama). They cook them to perfection here with that jammy, custard-like yolk that takes the ramen to the next level. Beaverton has a lot of food options, but Koku is easily at the top of my list for comfort food. I'll be back again and again!
