I live in Palm Springs and was on my way to visit my son when I heard this crazy loud noice coming from underneath my vehicle. I stopped to investigate and part of the undercarriage splash guard had been torn apart and dragging on the ground. I found the closest auto shop on of course "Yelp"... And found Auto Tech and rushed right on over. I explained my situation that I was just passing through and could they help me with this little issue until I can get it back home to the dealership. 11,600 miles ago I was told I needed a new water pump, yesterday I took my car in for a service checkup and was told by Roger the owner I needed a water pump. I said why my car isn't leaking he said it was a small leak and he wasn't going to let me drive the car out of there as the leak would only get worse so I agreed to let him install another water pump. I do plan on asking for an investigation on this matter. read more

Recently, I was driving through Highland, stopped to get gas, got on the road and my radiator hose blew on my BMW. I found them on Google, called them and they suggested a tow company who came to me within minutes. I had my car towed there, was greeted by the young lady in a professional manner, offered fresh coffee and was provided a clearly understandable estimate of charges. The place was spotless and I could see that they cared about their customers. They put me back on the road in no time and it all went smoothly from the moment I walked in to driving out. I checked out their employee board and was quite impressed with their certifications and obvious longevity. Too bad I live 70 miles away or I would make them my go-to independant garage for my BMW and My MBZ. I dropped a decent amount of money for the repairs, didn't feel taken advantage of at all and made me feel good that the money I spent went to a solidly professional establishment. I highly recommend them to anyone needing their services. Roger, the owner, had picked up the phone when I initially called in, greeted me at arrival, and you could tell that he ran a clean, honest and professional business by the way his employees greeted and served me. We took our Mercedes to an auto repair place called Aliso Auto Service for a serpentine belt replacement.The next day we drove up to Big Bear Lake for the night. On our way home we broke down and were stuck on the side of the road waiting for a tow for a few hours. Turns out the simple belt replacement ripped to shreds which disabled our vehicle. I called several auto repair locations and no one could help out without waiting for days. I then called East Highland Auto Tech and they assured me they could get a replacement belt and get us services right away. We had the car towed to their service center and they kindly waited for us to arrive even though they were closing. We left the car with them and got a hotel room for the night. They called first thing in the morning identify that the belt belt repair was not done properly. They told us what we needed and the cost, ordered the parts and had us finished within a couple hours. I have to say that Rico and Cris were awesome. The fact they waited for us to arrive, diagnosed the problem when their shop was closed and took immediate care of our problem to get us back home to Dana Point. Be aware they will take a peek at your car and when you don't like the outrageously high estimate they give you they charge you $96 just to have looked at it. They only had my car for 30 minutes!!!! After complaining they ended up only charging me half but I still feel ripped off! I've always dealt with Rico, and he's a pleasure to work with - honest and professional. The mechanics there figured out the problem my dad's 3000GT was having when other mechanics were stumped. Fixed my Ford Fusion's AC problem by the end of the day. My dad's Lotus and my mom's van also were out in one day. Took my Ford F-250 diesel in for an oil change and air filter, the cost was $161. Charged $7.90 per quart of oil- if you have a diesel you know it takes 15 quarts. What a complete rip off. And it took 5 hours. Giving this place one star is being generous. read more

Just had Diagnostic and service performed on our 2006 Dodge Ram. Went in for AC diagnostics for a blend door. it turned into another problem. Was a completely separate issue and the fix was cheaper than what the blend door would have cost. I appreciate their honesty and am very happy with their quality of work. Let me start by saying that if i could give negative stars i would Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this place. My story is long and I will post some details but the short version is that I've paid over $5400 for complete BS, lies, crappy work, stress and humiliation for 3 years now. Here's the long version: -East Highland Auto Tech quoted $4200 but charged $5483.02 (Nov 18th 2012) without any notice -the quote was on a piece of paper, not a quote sheet, and a copy was never provided to me -they never provided warranty information on parts or labor even after my numerous attempts to collect this information -they promised a full assembly NEW engine and installed a remanufactured partial assembly (long block) engine. Never informed me what they will be using from the old engine. I knew the car has issues with the oil pan and the head gasket and according to Joe Garcia, East Highland Auto Tech sales, those were to come with the new engine -after the installation the engine randomly turned off while driving. I kept asking the owner, Rodger McConnell, and the person that made the sale, Joe Garcia, to send me the warranty info so I can take the car to my local dealership. They never did. -when the engine stopped working (July 2014) the owner of the shop, Roger McConnell, told me to take the van to my local dealer ship -it took weeks and countless phone calls from me and my local dealership for Roger McConnell to provide proof of purchase -my local dealership took the engine apart and their diagnostic was faulty installation. -after I presented the diagnostic to Roger McConnell, he lied for months that he will have an insurance adjuster come and deal with the situation or that he will have the car towed to his shop, or that he will have someone else (never said who) there to deal with this situation, or that if I bring the car to his shop the dealership where he got the engine from will fix it without any questions asked -in February 2015 I had the car towed to his shop (from northern California to southern California, 420 miles). All of a sudden the dealership cannot fix the car anymore, and he keeps hitting all these bumps that prevent him from fixing the car. He never tells me what those bumps are and if or how I can help. -9 months (November 2015) after towing the van back to East Highland Auto Tech I still don't have any information on the status of the repair or any date of completion. -Roger, the owner of this "prestigious" business, disregarded my attempts to contact him and even hung up the phone on me a couple of times -the list is much longer but I can summarize by saying that the owner of this shop has very bad work and business ethics Bottom line. If you have nothing better to do with your money and don't care if your car still runs after they service it, use this shop. If you work hard for your money and love your car stay as far away as possible from this place. The only Pro i can think of is that they are quite polite. They will lie to you and rob you with a calm smile on their face. Update 1 01/23/2015....I opened a case with the Bureau of Automotive Repair in Nov 2015. In December the BAR representative informed me that he tried to mediate with Roger, and that Roger promised him he will get in touch with me within a week (between Christmas and New year) to make arrangements to have the car fixed and picked up. Oh well, guess what? Roger lied again. It's almost the end of January and I still haven't heard from Roger. read more

I went here to get my car's air conditioning checked because it wasn't blowing any cold air. When I went to get it checked they led me to believe that I needed a new water pump and a kit to fix my air conditioner. Which would cost a couple thousand to fix. And charged me 88$ just to tell me bad news. Yesterday I went somewhere else and got it fixed for 75$. I recommend Sonora Tires in Bloomington CA. Trust worthy people. read more

I hit a pothole coming down the mountain from Big Bear and popped my front passenger tire. AAA towed my car here and they had to special order the tire because Mini Cooper tires are not usually kept in stock. They went and picked it up and within an hour had it mounted on. My father and I have been going here for 20+ years and never had a problem . Last month my father took his 2007 Honda Ridgeline to get his usual oil change done when the mechanic told him his oil pan was leaking. My dad tells him "that's weird, it wasn't leaking this morning" so he goes home and sees oil leaking on our drive way. We take it to Reid's in Redlands and further inspection they tell us that the oil pan plug wasn't tightened correctly and that they tightened it back up. Makes me wonder how many other times they lied to us and tricked us out of paying for parts and services we never needed. Shame on these mechanics and the business they run. They had a 20+ year loyal customer in their pocket. Thank goodness we finally found out what they are all about. Never will I ever go there again. I'm making it my mission to make it known they are not trustworthy and just crooks taking advantage of patrons. read more

The first time I had EHAT fix my f-150, they replaced the fuel filter at a fair price. The 2nd I went to EHAT, I asked for a 60k check-up on my Expedition. The manager (older balding with glasses) ripped me off. He charged me for a 100k check-up...almost $400 for windshield wipers, oil change, fuel filter, and tire rotation. I should of said something because the owner was there, but I didn't want the manager to get in trouble. I won't be returning for a third time...Too bad. I need a local place I can trust. Never coming back to this place. They charged me $69 dollars just to change my a/c Schrader valves and to blow up my radiator and still blame it on me saying it was something internal. The car ran just fine before I stupidly took it here. The radiator was not even 2 months old. They saw my fans did not kick on and did not think to stop running the car without cooling assistance. They did not offer me any help or assistance just blamed me for everything. I could have save $160 dollars (tow truck was $90) if I would've stayed at home. The dynamometer has been inoperative for the past 4 weeks at my regular Star certified smog check station (T & T Auto) so I ended up here for a test on my baby, a 97 Jeep Wrangler. The shop was loaded with cars inside being worked on and another 6 cars parked outside, so I braced myself for a long wait. Spoke with Rico Rodriguez at the customer service counter and he stated that there is one smog check customer ahead of me, so my Jeep should be ready in approximately 30-35 minutes. So I checked the time and then figured that I would go catch a bite to eat next door at Del Taco while I waited for the smog check to be completed. As I walked back to East Highland Auto Tech my Jeep was driven out of the shop. I went inside the office, paid the bill, and again checked the time. Exactly 35 minutes, just like Rico had told me. WOW! A repair garage that actually gave me an accurate estimate. I'm definitely impressed. read more

Ok here goes this is the first time I yelped on any business but I thought it was important enough to let everyone out there know how these guys do business! .... I went to this business because I needed to get my car smogged they said we'll just do it because we're getting near closing time they said it shouldn't be a problem because an 06 Civic should pass no problem ! After just a few minutes later the "Tech" came in the office saying it didn't pass! He then asked me if I recently changed the battery! I told him yes! It was brand new! I live just several blocks from this business and thought they would give me a break and asked them if they were going to charge me! And he said yes! " we did our job! I said really! I think he could have asked me before starting the work knowing if the battery had been changed he could have asked me( customer service) instead he charged me the fee of 47 dollars and had to leave with nothing accomplished! Not only did he take my 47 dollars! he took the convenience away because I live really close and because of this he has lost my business for good! So I hope putting a mere 47 dollars into the till with a pissed off former customer leaving the property for good leaves this manager with a good feeling! I also want to pump up a business located on Euclid Ave in Upland just above the 10 freeway at an arco station! Just a few blocks north of the freeway on the leftThis place is where everyone should get they're vehicles smogged Great customer service and with a smile and a hand shake ! The only reason I didn't go to this place this time was because I missed him because he closed earlier than I had thought! Lesson learned and at a cost of just 47 dollars! Word! Oh I thought you were the owner! What a crock of shit enjoy the 47.00 it's the last money that will go into your greedy little hands People!
