Had to get a device installed in my car. Made an appointment for 10am, but came early. Kept checking back with them to see when they would be done. Each time, they'd suspiciously say they needed more time. Tried my best to be patient and kind. It nears 6pm, and now I know it's just unreasonable. They give me back my car, failing to install the device. I don't mind the failure; I don't even mind having waiting the entire day. What I do mind is that they left my car super dirty. Black marks everywhere, all over the dashboard, sides, seats, etc. They also left my glove compartment broken. I don't think that's okay. Had to take my car to another place to get the the job done. Other place completed work in 1.5 hours, and left my car as clean as it was when dropped off. And they fixed my glove compartment for me that Legacy Automotive Repair broke. read more

This business is carmax approved. I went in to have my car looked at and for a simple battery replacement I was given a quote of over $400. I was give a list of additional fees that seemed inappropriate. For the same work I was give an estimate of less than half with AAA or Autozone. Car max should send their customers to a larger more reputable shop. I was still charged a diagnostic fee from this place, when I clearly told them the issue. There was also an older woman there who had a similar issue and was being charged the same amount for a simple battery replacement! This place should be ashamed of themselves. His first quote was too good to be true, so I honestly called back and verified twice. I thought for sure it would go up significantly once they started, Nope you proved me wrong! I'm a bit saddened as I've brought my car here on multiple occasions. They are a carmax care approved facility and at the time, the closest facility for me. In April 2018 they supposedly replaced my exhaust manifold. The gas smell almost always remained but I trusted they did as they should as they're mechanics and I am not Fast forward to now. My vehicle is in a repair facility just a year and a half later, for the EXACT same problem. Again I'm no mechanic, but shouldn't the part that was replaced last longer than a year and a half?! Now I'm out my deductible for a second time for the same problem. Not only that, everytime I would pick up my car, it smelled of cigarettes. Gross! Jennifer was really friendly and always kept me updated which is the reason for 2 stars. Otherwise, I'm going with they are an untrustworthy facility. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. Quoted a price of almost 600 dollars then told me it was "exploratory" and would cost more to finish the job. When i told them no thank you I paid the 120 diagnostic fee and waited for the tow truck to come get my car only to find the "mechanic" had left the valve cover and screws on my passenger seat after i refused their ridiculous feee. Where do I begin? They stole 3900 from me and my family. I took my car in for throttle body maintenance and a coolant leak. The throttle body cost me 360+ with a diagnostic saying I had to get a coolant pipe replaced ($1900). I said ok... took the car in and was told it would be done by wed. Legacy called me on Thursday saying that the car is taken apart but will cost me 3900 now! I was startled, but I needed the work done and agreed. The next week...Wed came, no car ready, Thursday, no car ready, Friday I was told to come get the car. I did. When I pulled out, the car was fine... when I got out of work the car had a loss of power. I called them, but they were closed. On Monday, Jennifer and the mechanic who reeks of beer, tried to blame me saying "well it's probably something else now... blah blah." I had already scanned it, it was a throttle body flap and I told them, please just take a look I think it's something small you maybe forgot. They did and I was correct. I picked up the car again that Tuesday and went home. The next few days were good until I again noticed a coolant leak that Friday afternoon. I called legacy just as the car broke down. I got towed to their shop where I paid $160 for tow for work they supposedly completed for roughly 4K. He website lies saying they offer towing. The next week... I was told they cannot do the work. I immediately took it to a specialist (another 160 tow). The specialist showed me where they broke the coolant pipe and tried to hypoxy it back on, put in wrong coolant, and had fluid and oils soaking the underneath of my car. All of this is documented and the wrong coolant being put in car is in the receipt she gave me.I payed 3900 to fix the supercharger which got destroyed due to coolant leakage, the janky pipe, and the belts replaced. I contacted legacy and sent them the receipt explaining to them they did a botch job and I need to be refunded. They stopped answering my calls. I went in last week and asked the status of the email I sent with all the proof, I was told it was sent to corporate. Jennifer went from mom and pop to corporate over night. I went in today and asked again after calling with no answer and I was told "I don't think your gonna like the outcome of this" and I was too "aggressive." Cliche from her ilk playing on the fact I'm a minority. I was calm and polite, but I think this is what-they-do and it's not their first rodeo dealing with botched work. I'm calling triple a, bbb, and my lawyer next. Also... the mechanic reeked of alcohol when I picked up the car last. Please stay away from this crook of a place! I think they manipulate the elderly and people coming in for simple repairs. I'll update with the outcome of my lawsuit. read more

I have a Mitsubishi Raider truck here in Redlands and there are No more local Mitsubishi services near me and I had an emergency light go on and a busted throttle line somewhere in my motor ,so I asked Legacy if they knew how to work on Mitsubishi s because in the past I have taken my other Mitsubishi, s to other places for service and either the car wasn't fixed correctly or the mechanic didn't know how or didn't have parts.Legacy diagnosed and fixed the issue also identified a bad water pump which they changed at a reasonable rate and timely fashion. I have a 2007 BMW Z4 and just started having a few problems, I took my car to Legacy and it turns out that all the reviews thus far are correct. About a year and a half ago I had an issue with my brakes. At that time Legacy got me in quickly and took care of my car. Less than a year later my brakes had worn down to the rotors and they did a warranty replacement on the front brakes and rotors and later the rear brakes. I called them before the year expired for the rear brakes, but couldn't get an appointment until a few days after. They took care of the rear brakes under warranty anyway, which I appreciated. The problem happened when, six months later, the front brakes were already worn down again. Considering nearly two months of this time was during the worst of the quarantine and I was driving about 10 miles a week, they should not have worn down that quickly. When I brought my car in, I was informed that the owner decided their warranty only covered the first replacement and that I would have to pay labor costs to fix my brakes. I don't often post reviews, but I felt people should be aware that if you have something repaired under warranty, the new part will not be covered. I've decided to take my business to Firestone, which is nearby, competitively priced, and whose labor warranty resets when new work is done. I hope they'll treat me better if something goes wrong. read more

Excellent repair and customer service. I have been taking my car to Al for several years---long before he opened up his own shop Legacy Automotive. Just talking to him you can tell he is knowledgeable and I know he has a considerable amount of experience. He is eager to help you with your car's issues. I remember one time a few years back I had taken my car to several places to get estimates on an engine problem which no one could figure out yet each mechanic charged me a diagnostic fee. I told Al how everyone was charging me yet couldn't figure anything out. But not Al, he said if he couldn't figure it out he wouldn't charge anything and he didn't. An honest and fair mechanic and person. He recommended I take it back to the dealer and suggested they check on the computer readings. He was right!! Thanks to Al, I found out it ended up being an issue that was still under warranty and the dealer took care of it for free while everyone else charged to try to figure it out, except Al. He is honest, fair and really works hard to take care of all your car's needs. He took care of three maintenance jobs this time, March 11, 2021, and his prices were considerably better than anyone's. I've recently moved to Redlands was hoping to find reliable mechanic in the area. My alternator went out and on September 6, 2019, I took my car to Legacy Automotive Repair in Redlands. I checked their reviews on YELP, and they They had 4 stars . So I gave them a try. But with my recent experience with them, I'm wondering why or if they're having their own friends and family members write reviews for them because they treated me terrible. So as mentioned, I decided to trust them and take my car in to have the alternator replaced. They did, and shortly after they replaced my alternator, I'm driving on the freeway to work the alternator belts snaps and breaks into. I called Legacy back and told them what happened, and right away a (J) or Jennifer already set for an argument says, "What happened to the belt had nothing to do with us the replacing the alternator. It's not our fault." That is something separate." She said the belt was probably bad anyway. I told her "well if the bad was bad, why didn't the mechanic tell me, and I would have ask him to replace it." I then said a good mechanic would have advise me so that I could have had it replaced. A belt only cost $10. I would have had it replaced and not have to go through this and risking my life on the freeway and having to bring my car back and pay more money. She then got really rude and said " well regardless what happened is not our fault and like I said it is something separate,then got real condescending and said as we charge$60 for labor for that and what ever the parts will cost. I then said mam, I'm not trying to argue with you, I just want you to do right my me that's all. I said if the belt was already bad your mechanic should have told me or he might have tighten the belt on there too tight when he installed it or he could have installed the belt incorrectly and now it broke. I offered to purchase the parts if they would give me some type of compensation for the trouble and she rudely said we don't do that, and if we do, I'll have to talk to someone else and get back to you. Of course she didn't call back, and I knew she wouldn't , and I had to have the car towed to another reliable mechanic who I've used in the past to fix my car right. It's shame, Legacy did this to me and was rude to me when I asked them to correct their work. They were already set for an argument when I called them which tells me they must have had these sorts of situations in the past. Horrible customer service, poor mechanical work. Don't rely on this shop. They will break your car and not take responsibility, and argue with you if you call back. Eventually companies like this will get sued and then they will change their arrogant position. Legacy you get what you sow!
