After visiting for brunch today, I'm excited to be able to update my review with a full five stars - Swing the Teapot is officially one of my local favorites! I had the tea experience with Black Velvet and it was just what I needed. I'll admit that the licorice and peppermint were very faint, but it was still a tasty tea and sharing a large pot with my partner, we finished the whole thing. My MIL loved her ginger peach tea, and my friends each enjoyed theirs, one getting his go-to peppermint and the other trying the red raspberry and remarking in how pleased she was with her choice. Lesson learned- if you come here and DON'T get tea (with the adorable teapot, teacup and saucer, all charmingly mismatched) you're doing it wrong. Because I'm weird, I just ordered the Irish soda bread with a dish of whipped cream as a "light" breakfast, and I appreciated that the server humored me to the fullest. My partner had a blueberry muffin that he was super pleased with, probably his favorite that he's found in the area so far. My MIL unabashedly devoured her chicken salad sandwich and the potato salad it came with - usually she's picky so that's quite the endorsement. The avocado toast and burger that my friends ordered all looked fantastic too. Great service, delicious food and tea, and very good prices- next visit will be for the live music! read more

The service was pleasant and very attentive and the ambiance whimsy, quaint and fun. I have been on a full liquid/mash diet for health reasons and this ended up being a great place to grab tea and have some soup while visiting a local friend. Their potato leek soup was delicious as was their hibiscus, rose hip tea, my friend had a shepherd's pie, a well made mimosa and apple pie. We have dined here as a family twice one for Valentines Day weekend and more recently Mother's Day weekend. Personally I loved the cozy, nostalgic and historic atmosphere. The teas were served in actual tea pots and cups. Food was pretty good overall, my daughter loved the pancakes, which has been the go-to order. Service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day. The first time we went was on early in the morning before noon so it was not busy. My husband ordered the Irish Breakfast, which was very comforting and filling. I ordered the fish and chips, which were pretty good. I took the leftovers home. The price for the dining experience was very reasonable. The most recent time we went was around lunch time and it was buzzing. We were lucky that we got seated but service definitely suffered this time around. For this dining experience we ordered the pancakes from the adult menu. My husband ordered the Shepherd's Pie and I had the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. We took the leftover pancakes home as we devoured the Shepherd's Pie and Eggs Benedict. I'd definitely go back one day to experience dining with a live band. read more

The bartender, Rich, on 05/16/26 was being a nasty, rude, and not to mention, snarky toward me when he said to me that I have to pay for the seltzer. He said it in a nasty and sarcastic tone the way my father would talk down at me, sometimes. Regardless, if paying for the seltzer was required, I would happily pay; but the fact that this guy was disrespectful about it was unwarranted. He reminds me of my dysfunctional parents when they get in their freaking moods. He also told me that there was a two-drink policy when there's a live band and also told me that if more people are coming to the bar, he would have me move. Basically, he was being unwelcoming and wanted to tell me (but couldn't since he was on the job) "fuck you asshole, you're not welcome at the bar". He didn't actually say that but those were the vibes I got from him. That kind of rude impression from him was just unwarranted. Now, I don't know what made me tip him $6. Maybe I wanted to be the better person in that situation since he was being a total asshole..and maybe I don't want him breathing down my neck about the service. He's a real jerkoff. Next time he does that with me again, I'm not going to be nice about it. He was lucky I kept my cool and chose to remain respectful instead of sink to his dysfunctional level that would remind me of my dysfunctional parents (not to mention, my entire dysfunctional family). So this one really stuck with me in the worst way possible because of bad experiences with my family (which would make more sense). That guy needs to be very careful with how he treats people. He will come across somebody who will be a lot nastier and impatient than him and he will get absolute karma for his rude behavior. He has a job. Therefore, he needs to show some professionalism (I don't mind informalities from employees, as long as they're being friendly people). The tea is the real star at this place. They have a HUGE assortment of teas and some of them are very unique. I had the chocolate mint tea which was delightful. The restaurant often gives out free Irish soda bread at each table which is fresh from the Tulip Bake Shop. If anything I thought the panini I ordered was a little small for the price and the fries left something to be desired. But other than that, this is a very cute place to stop by for tea and lunch. read more

Caught up with a friend here today and had the best time! Our waitress was so patient and kind. We ordered tea pretty quickly but got so wrapped up in conversation that it took us forever to actually order food. She never made us feel rushed once, which I really appreciated. The masala tea was absolutely delightful! I genuinely wish I could've taken a whole gallon home to sip on all month! The space itself is stunning: so fancy, feminine, and adorable. Every detail, even the restroom and hallway, was decorated so beautifully and thoughtfully. Next time I'd love to dress up a little more for the vibe, but I was also really grateful that when I showed up in workout leggings and an oversized sweater, they still treated me with the same warmth and care as everyone else. When the bill came, I honestly had to reevaluate my life choices. For such an elegant experience, top-notch service, and amazing quality food and drinks, I couldn't believe I paid about the same as I usually do at totally average places. Did I die and go to heaven? The western omelette was to die for. It made me think of home and I almost cried. The Irish soda bread is among the best I've had, top 3. My friend got the warm stewed apple pancakes (get the whipped cream and maple syrup) and I think it was the first time I ever I saw her smile. Came back again Alot has changed since I came with my son in 2018. The establishment has grown. Looks like the acquired more properties on both sides, but the same cozy feeling. Had a great brunch Friday afternoon with family. I ordered the Irish Breakfast from the "Auld" menu and it was perfect. The home fries were cooked crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, eggs done perfectly, and sausage was delicious. Sofa bread with butter and jam on the side was a wonderful touch. Came here for brunch and it was solid, especially by Long Island standards. It's a cute place and has lots of seating. The wait staff were nice and attentive. They have a wide variety of tea selections so don't miss out on that, and they come in these ornate, pretty teapots that are a whole vibe. Their food menu is standard brunch/breakfast fare, and who can say no to a good corned beef has with egg cooked over it just the way you like it? Quintessentially American, and a good place to meet up with your friends for a weekend catchup. It's cozy inside, and the noise level is not too high. The pancakes weren't bad either, and were fluffy. Visit Date: June 5, 2025 I came here for a Young Adult Library breakfast with librarians and members of the Nassau County Library Association. The breakfast they served us was buffet style we didn't get to chose off the menu. I had a yogurt parfait, french toast, eggs, bacon and a piece of bread with jam because I think the scones were gone by the time I got there. For a drink I sampled both the coffee and the tea. I liked the coffee better. They did a smooth set up for a smaller event, in case anyone reading this review is looking for a place to host events. They seemed to have a good amount of staff walking around to make sure there was more food in the buffet stations and to give us our beverages. They set up a nice table for the author who was speaking at the event. The food was good, not overly great but good. The coffee was better than the tea. Swing the teapot is such a nostalgic spot to me. I've been coming here for 15+ years, it was a favorite of my late grandmother as she loved the full Irish breakfast. I am a tea girlie so I love coming here for a pot of tea, there are so many options that you can always find something new to try. My favorite is Harney & Son's Hot Cinnamon Spice. For actual food, I've never found any of their breakfast/brunch options amazing. Everything is just okay. Breakfast wrap (latest pick) was bland and just a diner egg wrap. Also, I would be doing readers a disservice if I do not mention how dense and dry their Blueberry Scone was. I would skip everything above if I ever revisit. Not everything was subpar. The Spinach & Artichoke Dip was maybe the best item we tried, along with the French Onion Soup. Corn Beef Hash and Eggs Benedict were fine as well, but nothing special. I appreciate how they support local musicians, with live music weekly. We ordered a French onion soup ($8), pancakes ($11), eggs Benedict ($17.25), and a cajun omelet ($16). The soup was salty, and everything else was bland. The cajun omelet had no kick. We've never had home fries with no flavor. The eggs Benedict, ordered over hard, was served over soft with sour sauce, an interesting first. The omelet came with a piece of toast cut in half and a side of homemade jam, which was okay. Parking may be an issue (metered parking all around the block) during busy times. There is a 3.5% up charge for using a credit card. We had high hopes and were disappointed. As lovely as the ambiance was, we do not anticipate returning anytime soon. read more

Came here for a bridal shower and had a lovely time. The restaurant is pretty large and we were seated in a side room that was very spacious and we had it to ourselves for the most part. The employees were all so friendly and helpful in terms of checking up on us and serving all of us tea. I really enjoyed my Barry's Gold tea which is one of the two most popular black teas here (the other one being masala chai). In terms of food, I would agree with the other reviews that say it's okay. I especially liked the Caesar salad. The restaurant itself is cutely decorated and a bit eccentric in a charming way. Had a reservation last saturday at 6pm. We got a seat in the backroom. We were handed our menu's and it took 8 minutes to finally get a waitress. Her name was Shannon. We placed our 2 drinks orders. She came back 5 minutes we both ordered the fish. Was very fresh. Never once did Shannon come back to check on us. Now we needed our check. Well I was fed up and went looking for her she was behind the bar. I looked at her and was like I will take check. She then went to register while I waited for her to give me my check. I paid. She didn't even ask how our meal was. The place was quiet so what was her excuse. Sorry Shannon needs to get a lesson in customer service. I felt she didn't want to be there. Beware - RACISM! Other one star reviews on Google all share their experiences with racism at this establishment. This is one of my favorite spots but this was one of the worst experiences I've had. From the moment we entered, we were ignored and stood at the door for almost 10 minutes without anyone greeting us. Finally, we were called to the back and seated. There were multiple empty tables in the area we were seated in. It took some time for the waitress to take our order. After taking our order, we waited about 20 minutes for our appetizer. More than an hour passed and our entrees never came out nor did anyone say anything to us about why there was such a wait or check on us during that time. By then, our section was completely empty and we were so done with the experience. Everyone in my party knew it was racism and discrimination because we were ignored by every waitress when we entered and addressed only when two Caucasian women came into the establishment after us because they couldn't seat them without seating us first. While seated, no one checked on us or spoke to us although they consistently checked on Caucasian patrons. Even after we decided to leave, the staff didn't apologize for the wait or try to explain why there was such a wait. I will not be returning here and don't recommend coming here if you're BIPOC because the staff is racist. read more

I came here for Valentine's Day lunch with my friend and we had a decent experience. We were sat in the room to the right and we were sitting for 15 minutes looking at the menu. The waitress never came so we had to ask the host to get some assistance. She finally came and i ordered the buccaneer burger with fries and coke. The food came in like 15 minutes and tasted good. If you're going for lunch or dinner, just know the menu is more comfort food and sandwich like options. It's an Irish fare type of menu. Per the menu, "Swing the Teapot" means to keep the tea cups flowing so yes, tea is a must. I'm told that the brunch is good as well but I was here for a weeknight dinner. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and potato skins, French Onion soup, Shepard's pie and my friend ordered the vegetable panini with fries. Food was only 3 stars but service was great. Overall dining experience was nice. Spacious tables with a really cool mix of chairs. Each chair didn't necessarily match and it may not have been a match to the table either. Came here for brunch one day and we are so glad we did! For tea we started with chai (wow!!! so good) and our second tea we did black tea and it was soooooo good! I love that they have different types of kettles and a wall of different kettles! For enteee we got the eggs Benedict which was delicious and the corned beef hash was to die for!!!! My parents took me here for brunch to celebrate some good news! I love how the lace is decorated with tea pots and beautiful paintings. It's such a fun vibe. There are two rooms, I was seated in the back. My mother and I shared the plum pomegranate tea and my dad got the masala chai. I thought my tea was good but I wish I tried the Apple tea or the chamomile. I ordered the California omelet. It was good but it tasted like it wasn't seasoned and the ingredients were just thrown in. I had to add some salt and pepper myself. If you are a person of color and/or LGBTQ community, PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. They are extremely racist; look at all the 1-star reviews left with similar experiences. It is not a one-off experience. I typically write reviews for restaurants with a highly positive experience however, this restaurant left me feeling so disappointed and upset, as well as the rest of my group that dined there today. Firstly, when I called numerous times to inquire about having a small group of 4 women for a 'baby sprinkle', a rude woman answered the phone and said "You can't call about that right now. You gotta call after 3pm." No manners or customer service. When we arrived today for brunch with 2 small decorations to hang unobtrusively on their brick wall, and even promised to take down immediately after taking photos, I was given the absolute rudest response/excuse by I assume the racist manager mentioned in most of these low reviews: "No, you can't do that. If I allow that, I'll be setting a precedent, and we can't be having that. We have parties here all the time, private ones, but no decorations, nope. Can't do that" No apology, just flat out rejection with zero empathy. We decided to stay and eat since our friend was already on her way and would be a hassle to redirect her to a kinder establishment as she's 30+ weeks pregnant. BIG MISTAKE. We should have just left. We received kind service from our waitress but proceeded to receive disapproving side eye glances from the manager during our entire stay, and we all felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome. So disappointing since the place is actually quite adorable and cozy, and the food was decent. You would think a business would be thrilled that we chose them to celebrate a baby sprinkle for our close friend, instead we were treated with disdain. NEVER AGAIN. read more
