Our server, Gerardo, was friendly but however- no checking on us after we got our food since he was busy with other tables and never apologized for "his mistake" putting in the wrong taco type (6 baja fish instead of 6 pork belly that I ordered- second round) & made it seem like it was my fault because he couldn't find my order slip in the trash. Anyway, for the tacos: we got the mojo pork carnitas, pork belly, sesame ribeye, roasted duck, crispy shrimp & baja fish. We also got the duck birria quesadilla, plantains, korean bbq ribeye rice bowl & ahi tuna crispy rice bowl, a side of esquites (street corn off cob) & the seasonal fruit (honeydew) with tajin. All the food came out together so it took a long while. They were obviously short staffed. The pork belly & pork carnitas tacos were our faves- both were flavorful & the pork belly skin was crispy. The shrimp & fish tacos were perfectly fried. The ribeye & roasted duck taco meat were dry. The duck birria quesadilla was really good even tho the broth was a little bland. Corn was spicy yet tasty, we enjoyed the sweet fried plantains too. The rice bowls were disappointing- way too much sauce in the ahi tuna bowl, which made everything very salty & the crispy rice became soggy, and the Korean bbq ribeye was dry & tough- it's basically just a bibimbap. Great addition to the restaurants on the outside of Roosevelt Field Mall - there's an entrance on the outside straight from a parking lot. I heard their happy hour specials are great, so I need to come back for that! 2 adults and one kid on a weeknight. Large space, beautifully decorated, friendly and helpful staff. Most of the menu is gluten-free and you can also customize your order. The food and drinks we tried were delicious. 2 of us each had a bowl, one had 3 tacos, plus we shared guacamole w chips. 2 shared churros and one had gelato. Dinner ordering and service went great, but they seemed to have forgotten to put in our dessert order. We waited a VERY long time. The produce that goes into each drink is very fresh including the mint leaves. The staff is attentive and ready to please. Tacos are small as they should be. The recommendations of choosing 3-5 a person sounds about right, definitely more than 5 if you're not having apps. I opted for the bib lettuce tacos, one with shrimp and one with cauliflower. I came back with my cousin after initially visiting in June and had yet another great experience! The service from the moment you check in is amazing, with staff smiling at you and explaining how to order, and asking if everything's good throughout. Came on a Saturday afternoon and parking was tough, but once inside the restaurant had a cool atmosphere while still feeling very casual and relaxed. We were a party of three without reservations and were seated right away. We started with chips, guacamole, and the red and green salsas. The chips are more like thin tortillas and were the perfect pairing with a cold beer. For tacos, we tried the duck, pork belly, mojo pork, fish, and chicken verde. The portion size was just right--enough to try a few and still leave full without feeling heavy. The fish taco was one of the best I've had: perfectly crispy with a great crunch, balanced with slaw and sauce. The mojo pork was also really flavorful with a great sauce. Bartaco is the perfect addition to the Roosevelt Field Mall Restaurant collection. I believe it opened a few months ago, replacing Osteria Morini. I came here last night for the first time, and without a doubt will return again in the near future. The food, flavors, and price point are entirely worth it. 1. Food- A variety of tacos to choose from. There are plentiful meat, pescatarian, and vegetarian options. I personally recommend the Chicken Verde and Chile Lime Shrimp tacos. The sesame ribeye taco was just okay, too much kimchi for me. They also have a fun appetizer sampler that gives you a taste of the street corn, guac, plantains and a refreshing cucumber salad. I highly recommend this for 1440 calories! I love that the menu includes nutrition/calorie information. Side note, if you are a sour cream lover, they have none. You can either run to Chipotle next door for a side of sour cream or try their delicious (really delicious) gordita sauce. I hope Bartaco decides to add sour cream to the menu, but I can also see why they don't have it. 2. Decor- They really redid the space quite nicely. This has become my new favorite quick bites spot at the mall. I frequent Roosevelt Field often and this is such a good addition. The food is amazing. You don't have to ask what's in the tacos, because the flavors are all paired so perfectly. Decided to try out this new spot at RF. I sat at the bar and the service was great, the bartenders were so nice. I tried the house reposado in a ginger grapefruit agua fresca. SO GOOD. The menu suggested getting 3-5 tacos per person so i started off with the pork belly, the chicken, and the steak. I ended up adding a 4th taco because they are pretty small. I've only been to Bartaco in CT, so I'm glad to learn that a location has opened up on Long Island. The restaurant is beautifully designed and has plenty of tables and bar seating. We started off with a "Large" order of guac and chips. Not sure if they should advertise it as large because it came with a measly amount of guac, not even half of a flat bowl, plus 6 large circular chips. By the time we were down to our last 2 chips, the three of us were scraping the bowl to savor any last bit of guac. I ordered the Baja Fish & Pork Belly tacos with a side of Street Corn. The fish taco was good but the pork belly really blew me away. It was delicately sweet and tender. The elotes came with 2 small cobs, which was the perfect side dish. I do want to add that all the dishes had just enough spice to it. If heat is your thing, you will not be disappointed. A new taco place on Long Island right inside Roosevelt Field Mall! They have a happy hour or "High Tide Hour" menu on weekdays from 3 to 6 PM at the bar only. I usually end work at 6 PM, but I got out early from an appointment and was able to make it to happy hour too! The bar table was very comfortable and had hooks right under for jackets or bags. The bartenders were both very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. My boyfriend and I shared everything. We got one of each of the 6 appetizers and 4 cocktails from the happy hour menu and 6 tacos from the regular menu. For appetizers, my favorite is the crispy chicken Flauta which tasted like a better made chicken taquito from 7eleven and second would be the pork belly sope (much too my surprise!). The pork belly sope is crispy instead of the fatty-like texture I was expecting and very smokey. The chicken Croqueta, tuna Tartare and chorizo pinxto were average. As for the shrimp Mariscos, I usually love shrimp but the sauce tasted like a bloody Mary with hints of Chile and lime and it was not it for me. The drinks were all well mixed and it's nice to know that margaritas are happy hour pricing when it's raining outside! Can't go to a taco place without trying the tacos! And they were delicious. The two that were recommended were definitely my favorites - Baja Fish and pork belly along with crispy shrimp which is my usually go to at any taco place. I usually like the pulled pork but this one was not it for me. In addition, the octopus was fresh and cooked well but the sweetness of the sauce was not it for me as well. To start with, we had a party of 11. The tacos that were ordered were tasteless and small. The brussel sprout taco is not listed as spicy. My son's "meal" came out first...and not complete as we had asked for the kids taco platter (don't remember what it was called) with an additional taco off the main menu. My daughter's kids cheese quesadilla was brought out so late that everyone in our party of 11 had completed their meals entirely and she sat hungry.
