Wow, I didn't expect this level of service as a new customer. David and Samir were patient and kind throughout the entire process. I had seen both older and newer reviews but decided to give this place a try--after all, how bad could it be just for an inspection? Plus, it's not far from my apartment. Not even 1 star!!!! Stay away from these scanners terrible business and owner!!!! Establishment worker gave me a price for a wheel alignment of $70 and then once the job was done the owner changed the price to $100 and told me they will not give my car back unless I pay the new price. Even his worker told him it's $70 and the owner said No it's $100 or she will not get her car back. Even the worker was disgusted with his scam robbery!!!! Then owner proceeded to say he will charge an extra $30 on top of that for any credit card charge. Stay away from this establishment! read more

Took my car in for inspection last week. The man told me that my 2 front hub Bearings (had no clue what this was) needed to be replaced. He took me under the car and pointed to them and said they were worn out and it was unsafe to drive. He also shook my tire and said the worn bearings are causing my tires to be loose. Told me it would be $900. I left and brought it to Auto Care East on E 94th St. a few days later and asked mechanic to check my hub bearings. He said my car was perfect and bearings were good. This was my 4th year in a row getting my car inspected here (I'd had very good experiences before). This time...not so much. I called the afternoon before to confirm what time inspections started, and was told 8:30. The morning of, I called again to confirm and was told 9:30. When I arrived, NO ONE HAD MASKS ON. They had a small plexiglass shield in the office area, but really? what's that helping? Then, one of the guys said my car needed more than $1200 in repairs (seems to be a popular amount, based on reviews here). Miraculously, my car still passed. I had my guy outside the city take a look, and he said I could probably use an oil change and a little air in one tire. That's it! read more

Took my car to to this shop for repairs. They charged me over $1,200 & did nothing! They were supposed to replace my front and rear EM parking brakes. A week later while driving all I could hear was squeaking from my car when I turned or needed to hard stop anywhere. Took it back to the shop and they said nothing was wrong. I took my car to a different shop and the checked and it turns out these guys didn't replace anything! I had to pay another shop to do the repair and now I need to file a report with DMV because East Side Auto Service won't give me my money back! This business is a scam, do not go to them. I went there for my transmission, they "fixed" it and told me a have 1 warranty on it. 3 mois later, the transmission broke down and I took it back to them, after 2 min of "checking" they said, it wasn't the transmission but I need a sensor, some brake jobs and transmission oil, I laughed and told them to fix my transmission. They called me to tell me that it was oil leak in the transmission and to come pick up the car. The transmission is still running but it need some work and they are not willing to fix it now. They charged me $2100 for some bs work they did. I repeat go somewhere else. And file a complaint against them from the dmv, so these scammer can go out of market. read more

Staff is friendly, service is fast and reliable. Not knowing much about cars, I appreciated that the mechanic showed me what was wrong and explained to me exactly what the plan was to fix it. Took my car there for inspection. They told me I had a broken axle that had to be replaced and it would cost $500+. Didn't sound right because it had gotten a once over just months ago at the Hyundai Potamkin dealership. Left this lying station and drove straight to the dealer. He said there was a tiny leak in the axle, that no repair was necessary, I paid only $37 for the inspection. Moral: don't trust these guys read more

Open 7 days a week. Friendly and professional staff who do a good job of making you feel taken care of. We were in a pretty dire situation when one of the bolts on our right rear strutt broke clean off (eff you FDR...) and luckily this place was just a few streets away. We were able to crawl over and after Sonny took a look, he provided good honest advice, took down our information so he can see to ordering the parts needed, and even offered to store the car in his garage until it was fixed (at no extra charge!) After a relatively small bill (given the circumstances), we were able to pick up the fixed car exactly at the time promised. Happy with the service at East Side Auto! read more

These guys are straight up crooks. I brought my car in for an inspection. They put it up on the lift and five minutes later came in looking like my dog died and said I needed $1200 in repairs in order to pass inspection. They brought me under the car and pointed to who knows what with great conviction. I had them print their estimate up and took it to another station. Where by the way my car passed inspection without ANY repairs. They couldn't even figure out what the estimate was suggesting with it's $500 in parts. Stay FAR AWAY. I had the same experience as several other posters--went in for a state inspection and was informed that work needed to be done, specifically, that the "brakes were low and a new brake pad was needed" in order to pass inspection; the cost for this work would be nearly $500.00. I declined and then immediately brought my car to another inspection facility--the car passed inspection with no problem. Go here at your peril. read more

I did inspections here twice, until all of a sudden my car "needed" a $1,700 brake job due to "brake fluid leaks", etc. They also took the wheels off my car to find out why it was squeeking but I asked them not to do this and that I'd like to get my car off the lot. They wouldn't release my car until I paid them $250 for their effort. Nothing was done. I took my car to another auto service in Manhattan - they said my car was perfectly fine. Terrible experience here! Pulled into the station to get gas with 2 kids in the car and the attendant tried to let a BMW cut in front of me and another car. Caused a huge jam up in the gas station. When I said not only was I here first but the car behind me as well, he told me to go F@ck myself over and over. He repeatedly grabbed his genitals yelling at me what are you gonna do about it!!!! I guess the BMW gives a better tip??? I don't know? But horrendous customer service. I will NEVER go back here again!!!!!!! Neither should you! We brought our car in for an inspection, which went well. We had also asked for them to do some other work on the front of our car, and they said our rear brakes also needed to be replaced. A day after we picked up the car, our rear struts were clanking so we brought the car back, and they said they needed to be replaced. We just had struts put on rear 3 years ago and we only drive 7000 miles per year, so this seemed very fishy to us. Needless to say, we went back to Monroe Auto who guarantees our rear struts, and they said only a screw was loose and that we didn't need new struts. Glad we didn't waste $600 on something we didn't even need. read more

Ron and crew are courteous and quick. But they'll always try to get you for stuff that you don't need. They charge you for cutting rotors to "prevent squeaking" and "remove rust" even though this isn't done anymore and there's no rust where the pad hits the rotor. And will tell you your pads are down to 10% when they're really above 50%. My suggestion, they're good for oil changes but if they make any suggestions for work that's needed--get a second opinion. I don't think they're so low as to actually cause problems to your car. But if suckers get wise to their tactics, it might be the next step. read more

Just witnessed a woman get destroyed by a guy I'm told is the owner for having a credit card instead of cash payment. She insisted he hadn't alerted her about this prior to service, to which he responded by screaming at her to "Use your head and your eyes!" to read some sign apparently posted somewhere (I didn't see it either,) insulting her, berating her, ridiculing her, to the point I thought the woman was going to have a nervous breakdown. He was so loud that I could hear him standing just outside of his office. Then I watched her return because of an error in the details of her receipt, for which he not only did not apologize, but continued to ridicule her, boasting of his "many happy customers." She looked so upset I wanted to go over there and offer a hug. That guy displayed himself to be aggressive, irresponsible and arrogant when pressed about the lack of transparency, quality and accuracy of his customer service, and I certainly would not feel comfortable doing business with him.
