Stay away this place will scam you!! I went for a car inspection (2023 Volkswagen) and I was told the check engine light went on (which I never saw it on). They then had to run a diagnostic and told me my car needed 1700 worth of repairs to pass inspection. If I had a penis instead they would have not done this. I went to the VW deal shop and no problems with my engine. Complete fraud!!! I will report them and strongly advise to stay away!! read more

Fantastic experience with Antonio and the team at Auto Care East! My car was accidentally rear-ended while I was driving it a little while ago. I found Auto Care East while searching on Yelp for Auto Body Shops. I was initially hesitant to go with Auto Care East because the Yelp reviews weren't great. But, after doing some research, I saw a different website that had many, many 5-star reviews for Auto Care East. I'm thinking that website is like Yelp, but specific for auto body shops. So I took the chance and moved forward with Auto Care East. It was a fantastic experience. Antonio, the gentleman at Auto Care East who assisted me, was fantastic. He was very polite, very professional, and very communicative. He did an excellent job explaining what all needed to be done and how long the work would take. Even though the other driver's insurance company paid for 100% of the repairs, Auto Care East's pricing was in line with my expectations. Antonio was on top of everything throughout the entire process. Literally all I had to do was drop off my car. It was ready a few days later. The Auto Care East team took care of everything very quickly. Overall, I honestly have zero complaints. I would absolutely recommend this body shop to anyone who needs automotive repair work. I used to take my car to Auto Care East but one of the partners left and now it is just terrible. Double the price for an annual service, Very rude, unhelpful manager and nobody in the shop had any idea how to re-set the service icon on the dashboard. Took them 25 minutes. The partner, Jeff was really nice and helped me out a lot and They used to give me a car wash after the service but no more. I came to auto Care East after I was told by the mechanic at the Mobil on E 106th that I need new hub bearings to pass inspection for $900. This place is poorly run and seems to care more about making quick money than about its customers. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance and confirmed the price based on the original estimate. When I arrived, I was told there was no indication of an appointment. I even showed my confirmation, after which the receptionist spoke with either the owner or manager who just shrugged and shaked his head. The receptionist told me I'd have to come back, and that it would be a multiday repair. Not even an apology. I ended up going to a repair shop on 111th and 3rd with no appointment, told them what I needed and they took care if it same-day within a few hours. I also realized that Auto Care East had absurd prices about 33% over what I ended up paying at the other shop. read more

A car accident is obviously never enjoyable to deal with and once everyone is confirmed uninjured (thankfully!) you must begin the daunting task of getting your vehicle repaired. My husband and I were rear-ended in NJ on April 21 on our way back to NYC from a family event. The driver of the other vehicle claimed full responsibility - rightfully so. We have a 2018 Honda HR-V. I realized that Auto Car East is literally on my street, but up until now (luckily) I've never needed their services. I inquired with them to confirm that they could fix my car and that they accepted the other driver's insurance - Progressive. They said YES to both. I felt very relieved knowing my car would be so close to me during this repair time My husband dropped off the car on Wednesday, April 24 and we hoped for the best! And........ I honestly cannot say enough good things about Auto Car East. They literally updated me every other day (if not daily) via text message with the status of my car's repairs. They gave me a date that the car would be finished (May 13) and it was literally finished just 2 days after on May 15. Something that is normally unheard of with car repair - so I'm told. They explained the reason for the slight delay, they were waiting for parts, totally understandable. We picked up the car and it looks (and drives) as if its brand new! So, in all, what I would like to convey is if you need car repairs DO NOT HESITATE to bring your vehicle to Auto Care East. I had an appointment for 8:30am for a oil change appointment. I drop car of at 8:25am i call at 10:30am for a status update because a oil change shouldn't take that long. Lady at the front counter says everyone is on break your car will be next giveaway it an hour they call back at 12:45pm and say i need a belt and air filter i ask how much will the total be they tell me 189.67 with oil change. I agree and guy says give me another hours. 2pm comes no answer. I call at 3 and the receptionist says she'll let me know. At 3:40pm they say my car is ready so i walk over get there they hand me the bill and the total is $255.38. I ask why is the bill higher the Caucasian man with the bald head and i quote " it is what it is, it's all broken Out for you " i paid because i had no choice and they had my car hostage. One star for the NY State safety inspection they did on my car a year ago, which was fine. I wanted an oil change at the time too, was initially told they don't do it if you provide your own oil and filter, then was told at pick-up they could've done it with what I brought. Then they'll keep emailing you with service reminders. Their site does list many services they provide. I used to do my own oil changes, brakes and other maintenance, but now don't have a garage in the city to work on my car. I've reluctantly given in to looking for a place to have things done. Since they last said they could've done the oil change and I got my inspection done here last year, I came back to see if they could set me up with an appointment for the annual inspection, an oil change, disc brake change, and tire rotation. I have the parts and supplies I would've installed myself, but this time they're back to saying they don't install customer-supplied items. That's fine if that's their usual policy, I'll just find another place to do it. I then asked if they could set me up for the annual safety inspection alone and they just said, "probably too busy." Looking forward to the next (non) service email reminder. Save your time and find another shop, they're "probably too busy" for your business here. read more

I have no idea why this isn't a five-star rated shop on Yelp. This has to be one of the best experiences I've had when dealing with an auto repair. I was hit while out of town and didn't really know anyone who could fix a car in Manhattan, but the person who hit me had Allstate and so I let them tell me where to go and fortunately this is where they sent me. I got a call almost immediately from the shop after talking to Allstate to set up an appointment to bring my car in. The process was literally the easiest and best I've ever had. I was there maybe 15 minutes? I told them that I didn't need the car back anytime soon, but then needed to go out of town unexpectedly and they got my car back to me in record time. Days before I even needed it (although I couldn't pick it up then). I got my car back (a BMW) and it was perfection! They did the best job ever on fixing this. Like, nothing was wrong. Unfortunately that doesn't happen very often when I take my car to get fixed at other shops. This was the first in a very long time where I am absolutely 100% satisfied with everything that was done. Unfortunately my insurance sent me there for the second time. It's my second car being fixed there. The first was a 2013 toyota highlander this time it was my new 2015 grand cherokee. This place has 0 quality control, no finish. If you look carefully you will find that not only that simple repairs like replace a bumper and paint is not done properly - twice I left my car there because you could see dripping dried up pain, leftovers of masking tape, but they damage other parts because of very very bad craftsmanship. On both cars I had to show them the poor paint job, the loose brackets that were left. If you are picky and particular and want your car fixed the right way, this is not the place for you. I dropped it off because it was recommended from progressive but these people are extremely unprofessional I wonder if they ever went to school to repair cars. I left it to get a fender replaced and I ended up with a check engine light on my brand new Mercedes C300. Progressive wouldn't help me solve this problem neither did they. When I took the car to Mercedes Dealer I was told they cut a brake sensor wire and tried to patch it with a inferior wire. Do yourself the favor and find another place. My "check engine" light came on Sunday night while driving home - I am going on vacation Wednesday morning and I knew taking my Volvo to the dealership would not work in that time frame. After looking at reviews online, I went to Auto Care East. Not only did they fix my problem, they serviced my car (which was also long overdue) and were done by the end of the day. I expected to get a huge bill for the expedited service, but it was incredibly reasonable. Customer service was great too - my phone calls were answered immediately and I was in and out of the office when I picked up my car in less than 5 minutes. This place is an auto repair rip-off joint. Since they are located on the UES, they assume people here will not recognize that they are being ripped off because everything costs more up this way. I got mixed up with this outfit because my auto insurance company inexplicably used Auto Care East as one of their authorized repair shops and referred me here following a pretty bad crash The Hub & I had gotten into. What a mistake coming here! These scoundrels botched up everything - and more: When I picked up my car and drove out of there, I noticed that they had forgotten to fix more than one of the items that were damaged in the smash-up. I returned immediately to report these non-fixed items, but they refused to fix them, accusing me of breaking them AFTER I left the shop! I had only driven away less than 10 minute earlier - there wouldn't have even been enough time to create such damage! Fortunately, my original insurance claim detailed ALL of the damages I had originally reported - including the items these characters tried to bogusly blame me for. So, after I foiled their shady scheme, my insurance company stepped in to demand that they fix my car thoroughly this time around. What shysters at this place! I have an older car 2000 Mazda 626 manual. I brought the car in for a new battery, to get the breaks checked, and an inspection. Unfortunately there were several other things wrong with the car for it to pass inspection and got an estimate of $3300! I wasn't sure if I even wanted to keep it at that point. I do have a fiancé who knows about cars so we discussed what things really needed to be fixed and then I negotiated with Anthony and Junior about what items were essential for me to pass inspection and drive the car for another 1-3 years hopefully without issue. They fixed everything I wanted and we got the price down to $2200. So yes I had to put some money into the car, but overall got everything (which included battery, brakes, axole, 2 new tires, and some other stuff) fixed I needed to and I know they did a good job. I brought my brand new car into Auto Care East, after i had gotten into an accident cracking the front of my car. Autocare was a preferred vendor of my insurance company, and because of this they were able to do the estimate and start the work immediately. Everyone in the shop was nice and reassuring, and explained to me how they would repair my car to as good as new. I got email alerts and photos of the progress of my car, which was quite amazing. I am usually a skeptical person, and usually very critical of businessess, but autocare east was a very pleasant company. They did a great job in a short amount of time and I wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back. I will be back for my oil changes and inspection certificate.
