When I arrived, I was pleased to find such a sweet shop with some any wonderful things. I ended up getting some recommendations from them on what to buy for an afternoon snack, and then I posted up on the couch with my cheese and crackers while I enjoyed them. I love this shop & have been patronizing it since it opened 3 years ago. They have an amazing, rotating selection of delicious gourmet cheeses, additional refrigerated items such as pate & sausage, a ton of packaged goods such as crackers, jams, chips & non-alcoholic beverages, and kitchen items such as cutting & charcuterie boards, dish towels & hand crafted pottery. Yes, it's a little pricey but you're getting top quality goods. There are a few dedicated parking spaces directly in front of the store as well as on- street & public parking around Wayland Square. Oh this store is a danger to my wallet .. They offer such a variety of cheese board related knick knacks , the most incredible greeting/birthday cards , pasta , oils , chips , sweets , tinned fish and many other treats . I walked away with a crispy chili oil , salted caramels , a puzzle ( that I WILL assemble to hang on my wall) , Swedish candy , and most importantly cheese . They had an array of olives and other pickled items and cured meat , and jams to accompany their amazing cheeses . I noticed they had a to go personal charcuterie tray already prepped to grab and go . They also have a mini print machine for 4 quarters ( you can ask the front if you need change ) . went to the 2 year celebration of east side cheese being open and had a fabulous saturday morning. they are so generous. they had a complimentary del's lemonade cooler out front, delicious cake bites, an opportunity drawing for a facial at massage envy, and gave away JK adams cutting boards to the first 50 guests to spend $25 (which is play money in this store). i brought my own bag so i could do the piggy bank donation. and i bought some of my favorite cheeses and duck breast prosciutto which is new for me and will be back for. love this shop. i also ended up winning the drawing :) read more

I picked up two mini jams (guava and strawberry) to pair with popovers that I'm planning to make later this week. What a great Elite Event! My first time attending and I was thrilled to see my fellow Yelpers. The Cheese shop has been on my radar and I was thrilled to have an excuse to go in and sample the wares. They were joined by Sakonnet Winery, a wonderful local business. The offerings were delicious, and the pairings were perfect. The store is a small space, however the use of it was room enough to move around and socialize. I met some great people and had conversations around cheese, wine and weather. of course weather was part of the conversation, it is New England after all! The shop staff and the winery sommeliers were , helpful, friendly and very kind in allowing us to take over their space. As to the store, be still my heart, there were so many delectable treats and provisions, I will return with my wallet open and take home some more goodies. I was curious about what products were being sold and to my surprise, they had some unique choice of goods -- a blend of local jams, breads and crackers, as well snacks and other non-food items! I walked to Wayland Square today to check out the new East Side Cheese and Provisions that just opened this Wednesday. I was immediately greeted owners Angie and Jeff DiMeo, who were very friendly and welcoming. They even offered me several samples of cheese including their house cheddar with truffle honey and a delicious French cheese that tasted like butter and then some! I was super excited to find le Régal de Bourgogne à l'Ananas! ANANAS! I also purchased a truffle fondue and a drooled over their extensive selection of French cheeses! They have connections in Paris and receive several cheeses in air shipments direct from France, such as the Ananas cheese! A delightful new addition to the area! I am sure I'll be stopping in here frequently! In addition to cheeses they also have some sausages, canned delicacies, crackers and an assortment of nonalcoholic but alcohol like beverages. read more

When I first entered the shop I was instantly reminded of a very special cheese shop on Polk St in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. Sure enough. The delightful owners of East Side Cheese & Provisions said that Cheese Plus in San Francisco were their mentors. How wonderful to have such a special gourmet shop in the middle of Wayland Square. Found this realtively new shop a few months ago when visiting my old neighborhood in Wayland Square. Wow! About the best cheese shop I've been in my life in Boston, New York, Philly, or San Francisco. I got an assortment of 5 different types of cheeses. Several of them blew me away, including a fabulous goat cheese and even an amazing cheddar. Not nomally impressed by cheddars, but apparently this cheddar is something the store is known for...aged until slightly crystalline and sweet. The usual nice assortment og gourmet crackers, takeout, etc. you'd get at a large high end shop like this. The couple running the place were enthusiastic, nice, and extremely knowledgeable and helpful with selections. Definitely planning a visitt on my next trip to Providence. read more

I love it here. I stopped in for the first time today. The two men (maybe the owner?) at the counter were super friendly, offered samples of cheeses, and were clearly well-informed. The store is bright, clean, well stocked and beautifully arranged. I bought a cheese that came highly recommended based on my preferences (it was perfect - I'll be back for more because mine mysteriously disappeared) and some Swedish fish (imported from Sweden) - I had to fight not to finish the whole bag. If you're like me and you want to support local small businesses, and contribute less to Jeff Bezos' billions, East Side Cheese and Provisions is doing all the right things. Great place for ideas if you're looking for snacks/apps for a dinner party or a host/hostess gift. Wish they could stock a small selection of wines to make it complete - not sure how the laws work in RI for that, but I have noticed that both Venda Ravioli and Tony's Colonial on Federal Hill somehow are allowed to do that even though they are not package stores. Went to an opening event last night. All I can say is OMG!!! Did not know that there was so much deliciousness missing in my life. The variety of cheese was amazing. So many different choices and ever one that I tasted was yummy . What I was really impressed with was the variety not only of cheese but of accompaniments that pair well with the different cheeses. With the help of the two owners I intend to impress my guests with some beautiful treats .
