Shocked at how good the sushi was. When I arrived in the strip mall to find the restaurant I was a little worried by the lack of people and cars. Walking in to the restaurant I was one of four people, still a little concerning - but I though "hey, let's give it a shot". The waiter took my order and very shortly after that I had my three rolls. They were huge! I eat sushi pretty regularly, but over never had rolls like this. They were huge and and not huge because they were packed with rice. They have a very extensive menu. I ordered a combination of different things (a result of extreme hunger). The sushi is fresh and pretty good. The restaurant was accommodating to substitute salmon with tuna. One of the special maki I got was 8 pieces but relatively small for the price of $14. Hot and sour soup was ok. I would not recommend the shrimp fried rice. Although there was a decent amount of shrimp the rice was dry, bland and no veggies only a few pieces of scrambled egg and onion. I ordered take-out here on Saturday night with a few friends. I had the tuna avocado roll, the Godzilla roll (filled with spicy tuna and avocado and then the whole roll is tempura fried), and a shrimp tempura roll. The tuna pieces in the tuna avocado roll were huge and very fresh. The tempura was warm and fresh. The Godzilla roll was amazing. Everything was really delicious. I would definitely order from them again. It took about an hour to get our order but when we called it in the place sounded crowded and we did order a lot of sushi rolls that, we're hoping, had to be made upon ordering. read more

Another strip mall sushi spot, but this one has fresh fish and a good variety of rolls at a slightly high price. I tried the Seaweed Salad (a little too much daikon radish for my liking - I just want seaweed!), and two of the more complicated rolls with a variety of fish and flavors that went well together. read more

Went here with a friend on a Tuesday night. The place was deserted. We were seated quickly and the waiters and waitresses were friendly. Our water glasses were refilled frequently. She had a meat dish, which she did not comment on, and I had a miso soup, which was above average, and two sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were some of the chewiest and worst I've ever had. The fish didn't look or taste fresh. The sushi rolls at the Wegmans grocery store that I have for lunch were fresher than these rolls. Overall, for the price, which came out to $20 per person, I felt this place should have had fresher food. read more

Excellent food and excellent service! I love the atmosphere and an overall enjoyable dining experience. Although I am not from the area, I hope to return and eat here in the future. Ordered take out from here tonight. My fiancé got 2 sushi rolls and I ordered some Chinese dishes. He said the sushi was only ok. Everything was drizzled with mayo (which he hates) but this was not indicated on the menu. Also, the rolls kept falling apart. More rice left on the dish than on the rolls. I ordered the won ton soup. Broth was very flavorful, but the dumplings were so gummy. Egg roll was ok. Would order it again. For an entree I had the ho fun chicken. I saw a picture of the beef dish on this site and thought it looked amazing! I had to add soy sauce and sirrachia because of the lack of flavor. Still not edible. So greasy and chewy. Not worth the calories so I threw the whole thing away after eating about a cups worth. If you like generous portions, then on that point this place will deliver. read more

This was my first visit and it was a bad experience. *Sushi lovers beware* I generally use Sumo Sushi in Pennington but decided to try this place which is a mile from work. Firstly, the owner Tony Yu took my order for a sashimi bento box which has choice of Cal Roll or Egg Roll, and your type of soup. $14.50. However they up charged .57 cents for selecting egg roll. I requested the different back and received it immediately with the explanation that the printed menus are out of date. *Shopper Beware* Secondly, on opening the sashimi dish I immediately caught the scent of spoiling fish. It was the indeed the Tuna as the first taste confirmed. The salmon was also turning as the texture was mushy wet almost sticky. The cuts of the sushi were also horrible. All but the mushy salmon being 1" thick blocks. The salad lettuce was nearly all yellow with half being a single large clob. Clearly, a one stop shop for all types of Asian Cuisine is not the best way to go and I cannot recommend East Sushi. Try Sumo for great Japanese Sushi instead. ** Response - The Tuna smelled of sour fish when I opened the container. I tasted but had to expel. This occurred Thursday during the lunch hour. read more

My daughter and I were returning home from a visit to Philly. Around lunch time, she had a hankering for sushi, so GPS showed East Sushi to be the closest place. Thank goodness on a good hit. We had a variety of very good sushi and completed the meal with a dessert of banana tempura topped with red bean ice cream. That was absolutely delicious. The service was exceptional. First impression is what you would expect a first impression to be when driving up to a strip mall chinese restaurant. The walk in revealed a typical setup for a chinese restaurant of this type, maybe a little nicer. Wait staff was very friendly. Menu is great! They serve both Japanese and Chinese which was also very nice. The sushi is amazing. I ordered the fire cracker (lobster tempura roll), and the spicy salmon roll. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered the general tsao's tofu, also amazing. I must say, I was really impressed with this place. I was even more impressed that my wife was impressed because she usually doesn't go for Chinese food. I will definitely be coming back. read more

The bff and I went for a quick lunch...she had the hot salmon box I had the cold. The miso soup was yummy...I didn't like the ginger dressing at all and the lettuce wasn't cut ...the bff liked it... They give u two little appetizers in the box.nor sure of the name but it was good. Salmon sushmi was good and very fresh. Spicy salmon roll was average ...a bit dry until I added the soy but...still average. I also ordered the roll with the whole baby crab ...was kind of upset with the portion size. Stopped by for an early dinner and I was craving Asian cuisine. I am a business traveler that has been in the area for over 6 months and was a little reluctant to go Asian again as my previous experiences locally have been less than impressive. The restaurant was not busy and was seated right away. I ordered Japanese Egg Rolls and the East Village Special Lo Mein. My entree came out right away but no egg rolls. I enjoyed the entree very much and was loaded with flavor. I checked my bill and was never charged for the egg rolls so no harm no foul as I was now very satisfied. I took a take out menu with me an plan on venturing into their sushi selections very soon. I will definitely be back. Of note...whole Peking Duck is available for around $35 which in my opinion is very reasonable. I might very well treat myself and see how good it is so stay tuned for separate review! read more

My family and I just ordered their lunch special today. My mother recommended the food because of her past experience with this establishment. Got our food, we were missing a carton of rice and two of the three we received were half full. My brothers' meals were disappointing at best. My mother was satisfied with her order expect for the missing carton of rice (we shared with her because who wanted to drive all the back to an establishment to pick up something that should've came with the order to begin with), but I was highly disapportment with my meal. I ordered the Chicken Tempura which had other things that came with it like "like fried squash, fried broccoli and something unknown that looked like chicken or fish that I ate that was also fried." The meal was bland tasting, I only had a half of carton of rice, and most places that give you wonton soup would give you three or four huge wontons, but NOOOOOOOO, this place give you a "small wonton in a half" with it mostly being soup. I have been to places that the quality was there but was not worth the price, but when you go to an establishment that both is not worth the price nor the "piss poor" quality of the food, I will highly not recommend this place to a soul and this place either need to switch owners that care about its customers or need to shut down completely. read more

This place was ok in entrance. It was completely deserted. The waiter sat us quickly and took out orders very fast. The glasses were dirty and foggy. In the middle of eating i looked up and saw a roach walking across the ledge. We immediately told the waiter and he grabbed a napkin and killed it. Then proceeded to give us the check! We asked to speak to the manager but they werent on duty. They expected us to pay for half eaten food. So we got up and left without paying! I do NOT RECOMMENDED this place to anyone. Unfortunately, I'm not much into Sushi, so can't comment about it. That said, I've tried almost every other item on the menu and always came out satisfied. Yummy sushi is great. The sushi is some of the best I have had, and certainly is best on the area. I am a vegetarian who doesn't eat dairy, so their curry vegtable is out of this world. Ok.... I'm writing this review with a heavy heart. My wife and I previously had takeout from here once before and enjoyed it very much. We decided to dine in this time. We brought our own bottle of wine so we asked for a bucket of ice. They accommodated. My wife and I noticed that there was a baby cockroach crawling on the rim of the bucket. We pushed through that and ordered. Then my wife noticed a full grown cockroach crawling on the picture right next to us on the wall. Again we pushed through it and started eating our first app. Just before our second app arrived I noticed 2 additional baby cockroaches crawling on the rim of the bucket of ice. That was it. We immediately alerted the staff of the problem and that we were no longer interested in dining there. We actually had to ask for our bottle of wine back (don't worry we kept it corked at all times). We weren't charged for the first app and can of soda which was good because I had no intention of paying for it after battling a family of cockroaches. Eat at your own risk.
