After driving 35 miles, Erik quickly determined that the furnace was not only one of the cleanest he had seen in a long time, but that the furnace was in tip top shape - even the filter was clean. Horrible! I bought a groupon for this service. The man showed up on the scheduled day and time. Was not pleasant at all. Walked through my house, said he had to come back when there weren't any children present. Rescheduled for a Saturday. He showed up, we showed him where all the vents and returns were. He asked if we wanted out furnace serviced for an additional cost. We thanked him but declined. From that moment on, he was horribly rude. Went through my house as quick as he could, leaving garbage and lint all over my home. Then just left. Did not even say goodbye. And....the vents and all returns are still dirty!!!!!!!!!! Horrible. I was the customer who had the next appointment scheduled immediately after Stacy's negative review. East-wind called me to report that the cleaning equipment had been submerged in sewage in the previous customer's ducts, and they needed to reschedule to have the opportunity to sanitize their equipment before bringing it into my home. So whatever insight that provides to the previous review. I personally was pleased they didn't try to sneak dirty equipment into my home. We rescheduled for 2 days later. The cleaner was very punctual. He politely asked if I wanted him to clean the furnace for an additional $90 [My appointment was on a living social coupon]. I declined, and there was no upselling beyond that. I showed him the vents in the house, and he proceeded to very thoroughly clean each one, as well as the return vent, and the dryer duct, just as advertized. I'm no expert in ducting, but when I looked at the ducting afterwards, there was a major improvement. After the clean-up, he gave me a summary of the results of the ducting, and how to care for them in the future. To be fair, I must acknowledge the cleaner is a particularly introverted individual. He's not going to chit-chat with you and entertain you during the 90 minutes he's there. That might put off some clients who are looking for more of a customer-service experience. As for me? A professional who comes in and puts his focus on getting a job done well, without distractions, and at cost? You're hired. read more

Horrible horrible service. Please DO NOT go with this contractor. We purchased a groupon, for vent and air duct cleaning. The gentleman shows up and says he does not have the tools to provide the service and recommends we get a refund from groupon. When contacted groupon we are told that no refund can be processed because we are outside the 3 day window. All thanks to east wind duct cleaning, we have spent hours of time and effort just to get back what is rightfully ours. Please stay away from this business, especially if you are getting it through groupon. read more

This company started out great. They were friendly and did a good job with the top floor of my home. I was impressed that they were cleaning up after themselves. About half way threw though they found water in my duct system. Something I was not aware of. Instead of being professional and telling me about the issue and what needed to be done. The owner of the company started yelling at me telling me that I just cost him $500 and he had to cancel all his work for the day. I advised him that I did not know of the issue and that its his job is to figure that out. He went out to clean up and came back and kept yelling at me. I had to tell him to get out of my house. Even though he said he wasnt yelling at me. I couldnt believe he was putting all the blame on me and talking to me in a hostile tone. He told me since I was getting a living social deal he was talking a loss anyways and I then I cost him tons of money with the issues. I am aware of getting a deal but the point of the deal is for referrals and repeat business. This is not going to happen on my end after my experience with the business. The company will probably come back with some comment to make themselves sound good. But even when I called later in the day to tell them about my experience they still were telling me about how much loss I had caused them. If you want a company that you dont know what kind of anger issues you will receive with the work this place is perfect. Not a place I would recommend. read more

Eric was an honest and efficient guy. I read reviews here and became a little skeptical, but I had already purchased a Living Social deal, so set up an appointment. The first go around he recommended coming back at a later date becuase we were remodeling and still needed to do drywalling. He looked over our set up and had some good suggestions, including helping me figure out what we could get done on our own to fix a few things with our furnace before he came back. When he returned to do the duct cleaning, he did offer additional services, but they seemed reasonably priced. I said if it looks like we need it, go ahead on one of the services he offered, but after evaluating the condition of our furnace, he said we could hold off anyway. He did a few little extra things, like cleaning my furnace filters, that weren't really part of the deal I paid for. Finally, I probably shouldn't mention it, but he also honored my coupon, even after it had expired. Reading some of the other reviews, I feel like he's not the most chatty guy, maybe even on the shy side, and as a wife of a shy guy, I know that shyness is often misinterpreted as rudeness. This guy knows his stuff and does a good job. I much prefer this type of owner/operator family type business to 1-800 chain places. I will definitely call on East-wind again for furnace and duct servicing. read more

Similar to other reviewers here, expecting proficient service from this company on the basis of a groupon is not realistic. After waiting five weeks (including one postponement due to weather that never actually occurred) we were informed that our ducts were not appropriate for cleaning. Rather than having the tools/ knowhow to deal with this (as any professional would), our only offered option was to get a refund through group on. Even cleaning the ducts that were deemed suitable was discouraged as apparently not in our interest. Our call, I would have thought. A follow up enquiry basically consisted in being told by Erik that I was a lier in terms of the wait time (does he double-up on in the appointments department?) and that the duct situation we had was "one in a thousand." I had't realized hardwood floors were so exclusive to us. What's obviously going on here is that East Wind does not in fact consider groupons as equivalent to regularly paid custom. They'll do the work provided there is no excuse they can come up with not to do it. My guess is that they have a long list of excuses to hand. Unprofessional and discourteous. Pay the full price and take your custom to those who deserve it. Their excuses seem to be wearing thin. read more

I joined yelp after a bad experience with this company a few weeks ago. I purchased a groupon for this company and wish I had done more research first. I have a hard time believing that some of the reviews here are from actual customers. My experience with Eric was similar to another reviewer. If I had read his response to that review I never would have bought the groupon. He was extremely rude especially after additional services were declined. Had he been more pleasant I may have actually had our furnace cleaned at a later time by east wind but we had time constraints that day that I'm now very thankful for. When we did get our furnace serviced from another very reputable company we were told that the scare tactics Eric had used were dishonest and we didn't need all of the services Eric had pushed (we didn't mention anything about his recommendations until after hearing the other companies findings and when we brought them up were told that some of them would actually be dangerous in reducing air flow by too much). Needless to say its never a good sign when you don't feel comfortable with a person in your house. read more
