Three Rivers did a great job from beginning to end. We needed a heat pump upstairs in our 100-year-old home to provide AC in the summer and heat in the winter. They found the perfect unit, a Mitsubishi Hyper heat ducted heat pump that would provide air to all the upstairs rooms, and work in very low temperatures. Their price was excellent. Scheduling was no problem, and they came out and did a very good job, the cleanest of any contractor we've had. They also did an excellent job of explaining to me about the different electronic/ Wi-Fi thermostats available, and why a nest unit, which was my first preference, wouldn't work. Overall a real joy to work with and we would absolutely use them again when we need our main furnace replaced. read more

After getting an $800+ estimate from another heating company, I brought in 3Rivers to look at the gas furnace. The valve, pilot and pilot sensor were all hosed with no parts availability on a 30 yr old furnace. A new one was the only answer. It cost me $3700 for the installation of a new gas furnace, Jesse and Brad were able to bump up the schedule, and take care of me. Brad and team replaced 2 full sets of HVAC units for my home a couple months back. Getting a bid was super quick, the bid itself was appropriately detailed, and their availability to get the job done was also great. I got 3 competing bids at the time, and Three Rivers was not the cheapest, but close to it, which providing better systems than 3 of 4 bids. There were a couple items found during install that changed the bid slightly, but it was all well explained and reasonable. They did a fantastic job and the install work that you can see is very clean. We got to use the AC for a few weeks before the weather turned to no HVAC needed, and now to heating. While I don't anticipate needing them for a new system any time soon, I will definitely be using them for maintenance. read more

Brad came with an assistant to tuneup my furnace and address the new noises I've been hearing. I was also under the impression that my furnace was over 25 years old (as told to me by other companies) but Brad informed me that the furnace was only 14 years old and the outer ductwork and casing were older but did not effect the working furnace inside. I researched HVAC providers in the Portland area and one company stood out, Three Rivers Heating and Cooling (HVAC). Listed in Yelp with an overall 5 star rating, I called Brad for an estimate on a new furnace and heat pump. We had been without A/C all summer and it was definitely time for a new heat pump and furnace which were original in our home built in 1982. The estimate was very competitive but we had to wait two months for them to get to us. But I took this as a good sign, that they were busy in spite of the dozens of competing HVAC companies in the area. The installation was on the day promised and Brad showed up with a crew of guys that were very professional, efficient and friendly. They had to remove a 40 year old furnace which took longer than expected but they never suggested an increase in the estimate. Brad from Three Rivers Heating and Cooling disconnected multiple vents from our old gas furnace because they were no longer needed after construction. He climbed all the way to the front of our house through the crawl space to put a cap on an open vent that was no longer in use. He checked the furnace and said we had about two years left before it would need to be replaced. Before leaving he checked the carbon monoxide levels the furnace was putting out, "because I want all our customers to be safe !" We were VERY impressed ! We will definitely hire Three Rivers to replace our furnace when the time comes, because we trust them to do quality work at a very good price. Three Rivers came in as a second opinion after our gas furnace failed. The first HVAC service had examined it, and come to the conclusion it was a catastrophic failure, and that the only possible solution was to replace not only the gas furnace, but the air conditioner as well, just in case the air con was sending power surges to knock out the gas furnace. For the low price of $15000 they could handle that for us, and we might as well upgrade to a heat pump the suggested. But we would be without heat for 1 month while they got around to installing it. Brad from Three Rivers arrived for a second opinion and within 45 minutes discovered it was a single bad component. Replacing it cost $250. He also discovered we already had a heat pump, not an air on, although it looked identical to another aircon model, something the first firm failed to identify (as did our inspector when we purchased the property). Excellent service! We got several quote to put AC into our new house (a complicated job since it's a 1920's bunaglow and there weren't ducts upstairs). We ended up going with Three Rivers because they were the most reasonable, fast response and honest. Brad was the only guy we got a quote from that explained we'd need to do ductless units upstairs, everyone else said we'd be fine with the basic unit downstairs (wrong). Woke up this morning to no heat! Brad, from 3 Rivers Heating and Cooling had been at my house three weeks ago to give me a bid for a new furnace. With no heat this morning, I figured the time has come to buy the new furnace, so I called 3 Rivers Heating and Cooling. I talked to Jesse, the other partner in the company. He put me on their schedule to install a new furnace 3 weeks from now -- the earliest they had available. That meant I would be without heat for a while so I asked if they could come sooner, do a diagnostic on the faulty furnace, and maybe get it going again for the short term. Jesse so kindly agreed to come out later that morning. I was so thankful. As it turned out Brad was available sooner, so within 45 minutes he came out to my house. He discovered the igniter was not working and offered to go to the electrical supply store and buy the igniter, and then return and install it. I happily agreed, because otherwise I would have had no heat for the next three weeks. He was back in 30 minutes and installed the igniter. Voila! I had heat! He not only correctly diagnosed the problem, but he was so willing to do all that it took to make it happen that very morning! I can't say enough about the excellent knowledge and superior customer service of this company. Brad(three rivers H/C) is very responsive and flexible to rescheduling (within a couple of days of the original, and the cost is better than others) when the weather drops and may not be perfect for my furnace and A/C service. He texted me to know the overall condition of the system and arrived on time. He took care of the property and put on shoe covers even after I told him that's not necessary. I called Three Rivers Heating and Cooling and spoke with Brad to explain that I might need a new furnace. He was helpful on the phone and scheduled to come out for an in-house estimate. When he arrived I explained to him that another heating company had done maintenance on the furnace and told me that the heat exchanger in my furnace was rusted and needed to be replaced. That other company provided pictures of what they said was the inside of my "rusted"heat exchanger. Brad looked at the pictures and said the heat exchanger showed normal usage -- and was not damaged and rusty. Based on those picture he said I did not need a new furnace. I was very grateful for his honesty. He made the trip to my house at no charge to give me an estimate for a new furnace, and then - with his great integrity - said I did not really need a new furnace. I asked him to provide an estimate in case I wanted to get a new furnace. He quoted me a very reasonable price for a high efficiency gas Lennox furnace.
