Same experience as Bill M. High-priced quote for simply disconnecting a gas line (with shut-off valve already in place) and capping it and possibly taking down radiant heater. Wanted $400 for 15-20 minutes work for two guys and $200 just for one guy to disconnect the line and nothing more. Was told that it was a good deal because normally they'd charge $600! Receptionist got snippy when I asked questions about how they arrived at that price and when I suggested that the hourly rate ($130/hr per person) for either option would be cheaper than the flat rate they quoted, including travel time since it would only take an hour to an hour and 15 minutes tops. (And BTW, she didn't even ask me my exact address). Told me they have other customers that want to use them. Another way of saying "we don't need your business." Agreed. You might agree, too. If I could give 0 stars I would. This company installed our new furnace a couple of years ago. It stopped working within a week. They came back, tried to "fix" it and blew something with a loud bang that filled the house with smoke and burning oder. They removed that unit and replaced it. The owner was present and working with his technician and was beyond RUDE. When I asked a benign question, he replied, "if you don't go back in the house we are leaving". It was about 20 degrees outside. I regret ever using them. Within a year we noticed a leak in the garage from the exhaust pipe that exits the side of the garage. They did not seal it properly. It ruined our Christmas decoration that were on to of a cabinet in the garage. It leaked several months before we noticed it and had it repaired. Rude owner, shoddy incompetent work. I can't thank Maddie enough for connecting me with one of their technicians, Denton, on the day after Thanksgiving when every other HVAC shop in town seemed to be closed and I needed my furnace repaired. Denton was not only at my home within a hr of the initial call but he got me up and running within another hr. Unfortunately, the initial repair was not the true solution to the problem but Denton returned the next evening (Saturday) and actually found the culprit and performed the repair at no additional cost. Thank you very much Denton for the wonderful customer service and caring so much to be responsive, patient and thorough enough to get to the solution! After calling and getting a very reasonable quote, I set up an appointment, and had these guys out to service my forced air furnace and install a smart thermostat last week. Per my request, the technician called me 15 minutes before arriving so I could get my dog in the house and in his crate. I live out in the country and the entrance to my property is gated, and my German Shepard is VERY protective of his home. I've had issues with people coming here to do work, and being greeted by a loud aggressive dog as they're trying to get through the gate, so it was nice he followed my instructions and saved us both a lot of hassle. When the tech got to the house, (wearing shoe covers to keep my carpets clean) I showed him where the furnace was, and where I wanted the new EcoBee thermostat installed. He got to work and got things wrapped up quickly. As we were talking, I mentioned that my downstairs bedroom doesn't get heat, despite having ducts floor registers. He checked the furnace and then crawled under the house to find some baffle the previous owners had closed, and opened it up. Now I've got heat in that room too! Super easy to talk to, schedule, and work with. Would be happy to recommend them in the future! read more

Comfort Solutions installed my furnace several years ago. They installed it in such a way as to completely block all access to my hot water tank so that it cannot be repaired or replaced in its current location. It is costing thousands of dollars extra to have the tank relocated (in plumbing and electrical costs) as a result. I had to give them one star or Yelp wouldn't allow me to post this review but they deserve no stars. read more

I had a furnace motor that needed replacement in 2017. They were quick coming out, and friendly. First motor didn't fit, and I didn't realize until now they were trying to install a refurbished motor without telling me. Fortunately it didn't fit, so they apparently installed a OEM motor. It has now died less than 4 years later, not covered under warrantee. Why would I pay them another 900 bucks for a motor that will last just beyond their warrantee? I won't. read more

Furnace installed in 2018, quits working every winter when weather is the coldest; By the time a technician arrives, the problem is usually solved (furnace started working) and technicians say they can't fix it if it is not broken. When the furnace stopped working this year, a technician (Cameron) diagnosed that it is most likely caused by a frozen condensate piping. He is absolutely correct; he walked my tenant through the process and fixed it (took pipe from outside and allowed it to drain in a bucket inside) and the furnace came on. So it took 5 years for someone at the company to tell me the problem was not the furnace but the condensate piping. Apparently this happens quite often as I found some articles about it on You Tube. What I don't understand is why Comfort Solutions didn't propose fixing this problem in the first place (The answer was always, can't fix if there is nothing wrong with the furnace and I had no idea about the condensate pipe then). I requested a diagnostic to find out what we needed to do exactly to fix this problem permanently (It is not fun to go through the coldest days without a furnace, having to furnish my tenants with portable heaters, scrambling to find HVAC repair, etc). The technician was able to do some maneuvering making the piping bigger, and also putting a valve that allows water to drain in a bucket if the piping freezes again (so it is not 100% full proof). It all should be under warranty because it is hard to believe Comfort Solution did not know about this condensate piping problem and instead we had to go through 5 years of the furnace quitting in the dead of winter. They charged me almost $800 (for the drive/diagnostics/a piece of PVC pipe, valve, tubing, caulking, an hour labor). This company has great technicians but poor customer service. I am disappointed since I worked with them for many years tuning up the 4 furnaces, heat pump, and ACs we have at our house and properties, as well as installing a heat pump and furnace at one of our rentals. read more

Day 1: Paul comes out to tune-up my furnace. Very nice guy, knowledgeable, efficient, professional. Really liked him and seemed like he did solid work. Day 2: After Paul left our heat never came back on. I called the company and he came back out. He said something is wrong with the circuit board and that he had nothing to do with it. Obviously, this is highly suspect. Yes, it could be an incredible coincidence, but I had a perfectly good, working furnace that he tuned up and signed off on. After he left, it didn't work anymore. Definitely not malicious, but seems like some accidental action could have caused this. He also recommended a new draft inducer. The part is $140 on Amazon, and he said his company charges $1000 for it. That's a 7x mark up! I'll revise this review further if additional actions take place... read more

When we installed central air in our former house, it seems it was installed by a less than competent company. It seemed every spring we had to have the AC serviced with freon, but they claimed they could never find a leak. In fact we were advised that perhaps some kids were letting it out as a prank or for recreational purposes. After several years of this, we said, "Enough!" and called Comfort Solutions based on good references. Susan, the office manager, was very polite and accommodating. She scheduled Justin to come out and test our system as soon as possible. On the first visit, Justin could only confirm that the system was almost empty. Then he pressured tested it, after informing me this would cost some serious cash due to having to flush and refill the system completely. No leak was detected after an hour or so, so Justin refilled the system and got us going for the next year. Of course, the following spring, the same problem occurs. This time, however, Justin spent a lot more time and finally found a very small crack in an external valve. Nothing was detectable by dye or sensor, but he said it had to be the source of the leak. It was replaced, the system refilled and we were good to go! Now that we have moved we plan to have Comfort Solutions continue to service our AC and Heating due to their ability to persist on finding the cause and providing a reasonable solution. read more

They worked during the aftermath of a winter snow & ice storm, likely a busy time for them, to get my heat up and running after a power surge blew my HVAC power supply, and charged me a reasonable fee for the service. They were even open to working with a home equity loan company I recommended to help me manage costs. They are my go-to HVAC service providers from here on in. Special shout out to service technician Paul for carefully rechecking the repair diagnosis before starting on repairs which cut the cost by more than 50%. read more

I decided to get a 2nd opinion, and the other company assessed the same issue, and showed me how to clean everything to maintain my system between tune ups, for $550. We just had our furnace replaced with central air conditioning added. Since our home was built in 1906 we added two heat pumps to the upstairs bedrooms. We had our Carrier furnace go out last week and found out online that our model had a Service Bullentin on it as there was a huge lawsuit filed years ago for a possible cracked heat exchanger. I called Carrier and they said the repairs would be covered under the 20 year warranty and gave me 6 businesses to call who were contracted to do the work. I called 5 before I actually talked to Brian who knew about this warranty well enough and cared to help us out. The other places either did not call back or just tried to sell me on on a new furnace which financially wasn't in our budget at all. However Brian the owner (who I didn't realize at the time) said he could get out on about 6 days. I asked if at all possible he had anything sooner to please let us know. Not only were we cold but we had plans for Saturday to do Christmas fun stuff here with our only Granddaughter and being cold certainly would not make it much fun. Brian was able to move some work around and had Paul come out Friday. It was a Godsend as Paul had pulled out the primary first to find a huge hole in it! The secondary was of course bad which in turned ruined the primary. On top of that the carbon monoxide reading was off the charts and we found out our carbon monoxide detector was faulty due to dust blocking the sensor. We feel thankful and blessed that Brian took the time to make sure he took care if us and Paul was a nice and professional technician. We had a new furnace put in by this company in 2007. The employees were very polite and nice to deal with. My gripe is that they sold me a refurbished furnace and I really didn't understand that was the case. They never come back and closed one of the air vents that they opened up in the garage. This furnace has never worked right. I have been told by other repair companies that it was not installed right or that it was the worst brand they could sell me. We had three bids for central air back in March and Comfort Solutions beat the other two by a considerable amount, so I went into it wondering what the catch would be. I can honestly say I have no idea because everything was great. The office staff were friendly and available. I had different people show up a couple of times to do measurements and such and everyone was nice, clean, and on time. The actual installation was a breeze and they finished an hour before I thought they would. The electrical company they contracted was great too. I have absolutely no complaints and it is now June and we have a nice cool house with a great Carrier machine and I couldn't be happier I went with the lowest bidder! We hired Comfort Solutions to install a ductless mini-split heat pump system with three interior units in our townhouse. It was a difficult job that involved complicated line routing through awkward crawlspaces. Another heat pump company had already refused to do it because it was too hard. We also got bids from two other companies, but one didn't seem very competent and the other was overpriced. Greg at Comfort Solutions was clearly more knowledgeable than any of the other companies' representatives. And Comfort Solutions' bid was more affordable than most of the others too. They got the job done in two days, and did good work. They also filled out the forms and paperwork for us to get all the rebates and tax credits for installing this energy-efficient system. So, if you want a ductless heat pump system, this is a good company to choose. read more
