I've tried to reach this company and they may have been a victim of this pandemic's economic meltdown. Who knows? They came to help us when something got sucked into our furnace. They told us we had a cracked heat exchanger and it was leaking carbon monoxide into our home. We got a new furnace and believed them. Now my plumber is here and he's also worked in HVAC. He is saying our condensation pump doesn't have a good foundation set up and that it is not hooked up properly. I don't know how to hold them accountable for this after 1 year or so since installation. But it'd be nice if I could connect to them. read more

I called Fire & Ice after dealing with two prior companies who were either a) dishonest or b) flaky. Allan came out promptly and diagnosed/solved my furnace problem more quickly (and cheaply) than the prior companies I had initially called. Company #1 tried to talk me into buying a new furnace. Company #2 misdiagnosed the problem & never followed up with a promised part (that I ultimately didn't need anyway). I think I used Angie's List to get recommendations after almost a month of no central heat and rising frustration, & that's how I found Fire & Ice. Thankfully I don't often have furnace issues but was appreciative of the quick and fair service offered by Fire & Ice. Would absolutely use their services if/when the time comes. read more

Fire and Ice responded immediately to a request and Allan came within 20 min on a Saturday! He looked at the thermostat and checked things out. There's a larger heating problem so the issue was not fixed but I was impressed at the customer service. Would use F&I again. read more

Do not give this company your money. The service was bad, but the disrespectful and unprofessional behavior was so much worse. First, the install of my mini-split took days longer than quoted. That wouldn't be a huge deal, but George (I believe he's the owner) usually ate lunch in my house when he got here before he started working. There were fast food wrappers in my basement for weeks. When it was finally done, they left the garbage from the unit in my backyard, and then failed to tell me that it would be my responsibility to schedule a final inspection on the unit. Days before the inspection was due, George texts me about it. I schedule an inspection and it fails on multiple counts. George claims that the inspector was being overly picky about her assessment of the job. So then I try to get George or any of his employees out here to fix what needs to be fixed. It took TWO MONTHS of back and forth texts (we're too busy, it's too hot, etc. etc.) until finally George gives me the number of another electrician to call and offers to pay for it. (Apparently, they really weren't skilled or equipped in the electrical end of this job, even though they told me they could do it.) So now I have to deal with scheduling another electrician. George gives me his information and acts as though this guy will know the whole story and understand what needs to be done. NOPE. So this new electrician doesn't have an appointment for weeks (not his fault) but my permit has already expired and I need this to be done with. I tell George that this outside electrician won't be able to get it done for awhile, and that really, Fire and Ice should have to find someone else to do it ASAP if they can't complete the job they started. He then accuses me of being the reason that the guy won't come over sooner. (George's exact text reads: "You can't lay a guilt trip on the electrician because then he'll never come over. Did you scold him?") It's difficult to express how asinine and insulting this suggestion was, without the context of so many other asinine and insulting texts that I received from this man. But know that my head about exploded with frustration at this point. All in all, this was a 6+ month ordeal, during which I've received numerous inappropriate texts from George, including one about how "women just don't understand the extent of domestic disturbance that jobs like this can cause." Unfortunately, there are some reasonably nice and capable employees over at Fire and Ice. But their boss is going to run their business into the ground. I can't imagine that anyone who deals with George would hire them again. My skin crawls when I think about this whole experience. Again -- DON'T give them your money. read more

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I woke up this morning with absolutely no heat. I started calling various heating companies based on Angie's List recommendations and reviews. As with all companies this one had mixed reviews. However, they are the only ones that called me back. The dispatcher John was concerned and helpful. He called me to say he could have someone out this afternoon or sooner. I was originally thrilled with the customer service. Then the technician arrived in my driveway in an unmarked van (I am a woman home alone). He comes to the door and doesn't introduce himself or the company he is with. He gave off an incredibly creepy vibe with zero ability to read any social cues. He steps in the door of my home before we've established that he is in fact welcome to come inside. I show him to the unit where he appears utterly confused for several moments, then I showed him how to open it up. It is sad he initially needed such direction. He didn't have any tools on him and soon asked me for a paperclip. I searched various junk drawers and came up empty handed. Then I told him that I would check up in our office. He seriously followed me upstairs in my own home. I found this incredibly inappropriate. I had to shoo him downstairs with the one paperclip I could find. He then lectured me on the need to stock such an item in my home. He was displeased that I could not find a #2, and that I only had a #1 paperclip. Sorry guy! So I let him dink around the unit for a bit checking in occasionally. He finally said "what do you know, it just started working on its own!" So he did nothing. Nothing at all. Even better he could not tell me what made it come back on, how to prevent it from not working again, etc. He had zero information for me. He then asked if he could have a cup of coffee. I am not an a-hole so I made him a cup. He then sat down and drank it as SLOWLY as possible while lecturing me about anything and everything unrelated to a heating system. He stayed for nearly two hours. I am sick to my stomach that I paid this man $159 to do absolutely nothing. I expected for him to maybe cut that quote in half since he had zero diagnostic information for me. While he was enjoying his cup of coffee I had him talk to my husband on the phone and update him (so he believed this story when he got home) and the tech quote my husband for a whole new unit. Fine, I know that it is a business. The funny part is that the same dispatcher I talked to earlier called him to check in. I could hear their conversation and it basically was - "Hey it started working on its own?? Great, get the money and get out of there! Also call me from the van." When the tech told the dispatcher that he had given us a quote for parts and services for a new system I heard the dispatcher yelling at him telling him that he is not authorized to do that. We do not usually call repair men, my husband generally fixes things on his own but we thought this might be a bigger job... Long story short please do not call this company under any circumstance. They reel you in with fake politeness and then send a man to your door who is unable to help. read more

I called and spoke with someone originally from a Craigslist Ad (I believe it was Dave) and told him I have a wall mounted heat pump that has been leaking and that it may also need a charge of freon. He quoted me $159 to diagnose and we scheduled a time. He rescheduled after confirming they would be there that day (no biggie) and then shows up the next day over an hour early. Anyhow, they spend a few minutes on the unit (I guess about 1/2 hour) and announce to me that it needs freon and now it's diagnosed....I asked about the source of the leak... I reminded him there is a leak in the unit and that i am not going to refill it without fixing the leak... he then tells me the diagnoses is a leak and that it needs freon... (that's what I've been telling them before they even arrived!) I ask where is the leak coming from? Well, they aren't able to take the front of the unit off, they didn't know how to remove it so they don't know, but I could recharge the unit and I maybe would get atleast some cold air for the summer... I showed them were the oil has been running down the wall and said that I wanted the problem diagnosed so I could get a quote to fix it and then recharge with freon... I told them that I'm not going to recharge a unit with oil and freon continually leaking down the wall from the unit and that diagnosing means finding the source of the problem not regurgitating what I already knew BUT he says he has now diagnosed it "a leak and needing freon"... and that it isn't his fault that I don't have an owners manual to help them find the problem but ironically his partner had been reading the owners manual I pulled up online for atleast 10 minutes by that time... they then said they were afraid to remove the front cover as they might break it since they don't know how to do it properly (this is after the tall confrontational one spent 10 minutes in his truck making a tool by hand, do they not have tools? He was asking me for tools that might work) I then asked if they are familiar with working with wall mounted heat pumps and they say yes but they don't know how to take off the front panel? ... at that point they should have said that they can't diagnose the problem and left but no... he got confrontational when I said I wasn't going to pay him $159 to tell me only what I had already told him before he came out and when he arrived. The POINT was to diagnose the problem at which I would give him his $159 and then he would give me a quote for fixing it... not this guy... it got ugly. I would like to note that I'm not certain if it was George or Dave that I had issues with, as he said he was the owner but I see that George is and the voice message I had from him rescheduling was clearly the tall guy who called himself Dave in his voicemail. Regardless the interaction between the two was bazaar and uncomfortable the entire time, the tall confrontational guy seemed to give the shorter dark haired gentleman little to no opportunity to speak, criticized him about how he was reading from the manual, spoke over him, and got almost overly anxious. When I told him I was not going to pay him $159 unless he could give me a diagnosis he got very angry and acted out of sorts...said he had alot of desperate people needing their services that day and wanted his money so he could leave. I refused and invited him to take me to small claims court and he stomped out, crazy part... he leaned over at my plant growing through the lower part of the fence looked at me, and tore a piece of my plant off and ate it and said "there, now you can sue me for eating your private property"... it was crazy... it was a grape plant but there was NO grapes or anything so he must have eaten a leaf or stem. SO, as a side note I noticed that they turned off the outside portion of my unit when they had first arrived and now it won't run... I look now at the original ad and I should have known better... honestly I was even questioning if they were really with Fire & Ice heating and cooling but the invoice he handed me is entitled just that. The entire visit was witnessed by others and it was the most unprofessional, ridiculous encounter I have seen in years. I have to say that the shorter guy with dark hair (George or Dave not sure) seemed very kind but also very over managed by a very unstable co-worker or owner not sure which. There are so many things I could share in the conversations that took place but it's just not work the energy. The ad I called on was Craigslist, DID NOT mention the name of the company and the number was (888-235-8488). I can only assume these good reviews from others is because someone else showed up on the job because what I witnessed was over the top bazaar. I am baffled. read more

Had complete install of HVAC. Installers paid attention to detail and were true craftsman. Later had an issue [someone may of stolen outside fuses] and they checked inside wiring at air handler and discovered a better way to do it. Price was right for the job. Would use again. They kept me posted every step of the way. read more

My gas furnace was acting up, I called and they came out...Great...so I think...George blows out the plugged tube and charges me $159.00...the furnace starts up and George leaves. The very next day, the furnace isn't working! George says it's going to cost me ANOTHER $159 to come out and look at the problem...(the EXACT SAME PROBLEM you were supposed to diagnose and fix yesterday George!!) I tried calling the office phone number...to no surprise, you can't leave any messages because their voicemail is full...must be other irate customers who received the same shoddy treatment! I called looking for help to service a window AC and had left my number with the service. These folks only do the bigger sealed systems. However, the gentleman (Jordan I think) that I spoke with couldn't have been nicer and answered several questions that really helped. He was very patient. Finally, he said he would try to swing by and help me out. I'm sure this is a very generous exception but one that would indicate honesty and integrity regarding any job you would hire them for. I hired Fire and Ice to replace my HVAC system. It was a nightmare. The company is in total disarray and staff are unprofessional. While the technician (Matt) appears very competent, he has no support and after many careless errors, I lost confidence in the company. I spoke to the owner (George) about my concerns and I really did not feel that the feedback will change anything. There is quite a bit of finger pointing and bickering among the staff. Although I believe Matt installed the units properly and competently, I regret my decision to hire this company and now question their recommended products. I would never use them again for any service and recommend that others use their services with caution. read more
