TL;DR: multiple issues and poor communication but issues eventually resolved I originally contacted PDC Heating & Cooling to fix a zoning issue back in November 2022. They were busy and it took a while before I could get someone to actually address the issue. After inspecting the system we agreed to replace the furnace. It's true the original furnace was old and probably didn't have a ton of life left. However, it was frustrating that it took several visits before they fixed the real issue, which was airflow/zone control. Over time, it was revealed that there were additional issues with the original installation. The good news is that they were eventually resolved. The bad news is that it took a long time to get there. Numerous messages went unacknowledged and unanswered. However, in the end they agreed to have another technician review the system and reimburse for the added expense. Mistakes happen. They were eventually resolved. I just wish it hadn't taken so long. read more

I returned home from being out of town for a month, entered my house late last Tuesday night to find inside temperature was 42 degrees! Apparently, my furnace had quit during the horrific ice, wind, snow storm the previous week. in the morning I called Pdx Heating & Cooling. Kurt was wonderful. We talked about my 20 year old gas furnace and I decided to go with a new Lenox furnace. By Friday morning at 10 am, I was having my new furnace installed! I can't say enough about this team! We needed to get Central Air installed quickly for my Mom who lives in the duplex next to me. She is 83 with health issues and due to other repairs and upgrades we were behind with the AC Even though I started getting quotes two weeks ahead of time all of a sudden my timeline was cut short as a heatwave was expected May 13th and we were at May 8th! We had to get the AC in and quickly. I called PDX heating and cooling, who had already given a quote, and explained the situation. They not only said they could get it in they scheduled an emergency install at no extra cost and came the very next day! Gave Kurt Lukens a call last evening when our central AC went out. He texted for info and pics of the unit and then sent out his top guy, Wes to take look. I had already determined that the unit needed the heat exchanger cleaned, but also checked the motor run capacitor, which I had replaced previously. Wes arrived early Thursday afternoon and we verified that the unit was not functioning. I had not had the chance to check the external fuses. Wes did and found one of the two was defunct. He didn't have a spare, but verified that was the problem. He was only here 30 minutes, got her done. I went out and purchased two new 250 V, 60 A fuses, replaced the faulty one and we have central AC. Great job, quick efficient and top notch. Thanks Kurt and Wes. read more

Kurt came out today, on a Sunday, to move a heating vent for dry wall construction that is starting early tomorrow morning . I called at the last minute on Friday. Kurt was too busy on Friday and Saturday but told me to be assured he would get it moved before the end of the weekend. About a month ago we had a new heat pump and furnace installed by Kurt and crew. Very professional and quick, we didn't have to wait for either of the units. They were done in half a day and then hauled off the old units, both of them and cleaned up their mess in our house. I don't often write reviews, only when I've had an exceptional experience. I found PDX Heating and Cooling through Yelp reviews and I'm so glad I did! I initially called a big company whose name was on a sticker on my furnace. Evidently they had serviced the furnace before I bought the house. Our heating had gone out and it was freezing!!! I called them on a Thursday and was told they couldn't come until the following Monday and just to come out would cost $170. My 2 kids and I spent the night shivering. The next morning, Friday, I found PDX Heating & Cooling and thought I'd see if they could possibly come sooner. Kurt came over WITHIN HOURS!!! He said that I'd need a new thermostat and he couldn't do it that day, but he hooked up the heat so that we could at least warm the house over the weekend, just not with the thermostat. He said he'd come back by Tuesday to hook up the new thermostat. He also didn't charge me for that visit and said I'd just pay him when he hooked up the thermostat. What??? What a kind man. That's almost unheard of anymore. As promised, he returned Tuesday, installed the new thermostat, was so pleasant, didn't mind my giant curious dogs trying to help him out, and charged me way less than the big company would have. Wow! I don't write reviews very often, but the customer service with PDX Heating and Cooling is stunningly exceptional. My tenants phoned me a little after noon today because the central A/C had started making a strange noise and blowing warm air. I called my usual handful of HVAC companies I've worked with in the past, but none were available until next week. Then, I phoned this company. Kurt answered right away, and while he was already working elsewhere, he offered to drop what he was doing and go by then and there. Kurt was at the house within half an hour of my call and had the A/C diagnosed, taken apart and fixed (bad capacitor) in under an hour. An hour and a half after my tenant's call to me, they had a working A/C again. PDX Heating and Cooling is now going to the top of my list for yearly maintenance and service calls. I have been meaning to write this review for some time in order to forewarn others about their sheisty business practices. I am an out of state landlord and my tenant in Beaverton called to say her furnace was not working. I asked this company to send someone over. The owner called to say his technician said the furnace was 30 years old and needed to be replaced. The technician even scared my tenant . She said they were taking temperatures from it and turned it off and said the tech did not feel comfortable turning it back on. Well of course the owner was Soo nice and willing to put in a new furnace that very day and of course offered a discount. I checked my paperwork and saw I put in a new furnace in 2006. I have several rentals and had forgotten that fact at the time of the service call. I had asked the owner to have his tech take a picture of the date on the furnace but he never did. Thank goodness I called another company who came out and checked her furnace and said it was just a dirty heat sensor. They cleaned the unit and it has been working perfectly ever since. I called the better business bureau to file a complaint and was advised to contact the District Attorney. Do Not trust this company. Always get a second opinion when it comes to such large expenses. read more
