Steamed Rice, potato wedges, Side Steam Vegetable, fried chicken, shrimp (Under the Veg)
    Tommy M.

This was my first time there and I ordered off TooGoodToGo. I received a very odd variety for a Chinese Restaraunt. I got Rice, some kind of chicken I couldn't make heads or tails of, Potato wedges, fried chicken wings, vegetables, shrimp, and egg drop soup. The soup and the rice were the only thing I liked. The potato wedges were ice cold and I only live 6 minutes from the restaurant and I put it on my seat warmer in an insulated bag. The chicken was very dry and I couldn't make out the flavor of the sauced one. The people however there were very nice but there were only two people eating in the entire Restaraunt. The vibe and decorations fit the vibe of Chinese Restaraunt and the minute I was in there it seemed clean.

Attentive service and really fresh food. We got wonton soup, edamame, spicy dumpling and hunan chicken.

    Bulgogi was very good!

Stopped in for lunch, my first time there. My coworker recommended we try the Bulgogi and General Tso's chicken. I'm definitely a Chinese/Korean food snob so I was excited to see if our tastebuds matched. The General Tso's came out first with fried rice. I personally like my General Tso's crispy with that nice sticky sweet soy flavor. The sauce I'll admit was on point. One of the best. The chicken wasn't as crispy as I like but still very good. The fried rice was less exciting, with no vegetables and just a few pieces of egg. The Bulgogi with white rice came out next. Looked incredible and the flavors were good, but not as pronounced as some Bulgogi I've had. I would've liked it more flavorful with that charred grilled taste. But all in all, it was very good. Both portions were enough for two people to share and leave very full. Total was $42 plus tip and again, well worth it. I would definitely be back when in the area.

Seaseme chicken and tofu, and Vegetable Spring Rolls (2pc)

I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. I used to live above a Chinese restaurant in Chicago and I haven't been able to find any place like it in Columbus. However, after visiting Eastern Bay Chinese, I think I've gotten a little closer. I'm not usually in the area but I was easily this week and this spot popped up on my Yelp app. The reviews weren't bad (3.5 is good in my book!) and the photos of the food looked tasty. I ordered online through their website and ordered takeout. After checking out it said my food would be ready in under 30 minutes which was dope. I made my way there to find an old McDonald's converted into a Chinese restaurant. My food was ready when I walked in and it was piping hot. I had another errand to run before I could go home to eat but it was still hot when I was finally able to dive in. The spring rolls were great. My boyfriend and I shared two and definitely wanted more. Glad they had a veggie option. My sesame tofu wasn't bad either. The sauce was sweet but not too sweet and the portion was huge. Next time I'd ask if my tofu could be crispier because the sauce is heavy and makes it pretty soggy. Nonetheless, I ate most of it. When my next craving arrives, I wouldn't mind coming back.

I hesitated to come here, based on bad reviews, particularly Mike's. But, I noticed that those were pretty old, and things seem to have changed, and they seem to have new owners. Stopped in at one on a weekday. The decor is pretty standard old-school Chinese standalone restaurant. Service was good. The menu was full of the standard Chinese American offerings, plus a small authentic section in the back. I went with my usual comparison items, Mongolian beef and crab Rangoon. The Mongolian beef was pretty good, and pretty standard. Not overly salty, good slices of tender beef. Plenty of onions. Served with average fried rice. And the crab Rangoon were pretty good, with some chunks of crab in them. There's a lot more than menu I'd like to try, and I will be back when I am nearby.

If you're looking for a yummy takeout spot definitely give this place a try. I ordered so much food for a great price and all of my friends loved it. We tried a few different items and all were tasty.

Eastern Bay has a lot of negative reviews from the previous management. About 5 years ago, new management took over, and it's a complete 180 from the extremely lackluster crass management that was. This was my first visit to Eastern Bay, and Anna and I had a delightful, delicious meal with good customer service. Obviously pre-pandemic there was what looks to be a buffet area that's closed off. Plenty of tables and booths. The booth seating was very comfortable. The menu is quite extensive with plenty of Chinese American dishes; there is a smaller section of authentic Chinese dishes in the back, too. Our server gal was a doll. Very polite, gave use the proper amount of time to decide what we wanted to order; friendly personality. We shared two apps, I also got their Steamed Shao Mai; I took my Sesame Chicken to-go, since the apps filled me up. All three were excellent! All hot and filled to the max with the proper filling. I was expecting the Thai rolls to be lame frozen mush that basically would taste like fried oil - I. WAS. COMPLETELY. WRONG. I could taste every component, the shrimp and chicken were 100% present, and the veggies, while I couldn't tell you individual ones - added to the flavor. I highly recommend these! I'd easily get two of this app as my meal and call it a day. Their Crab Rangoon was also very good, not too sweet filling, hot, excellent. The Shao Mai was a solid three-for-three!! I could taste both the shrimp and pork, and the fillings were the star, not the wonton-esqu wrapping. I was super impressed with these three starters, indeed. My Sesame Chicken defaulted to to-go. It was a solid good, but I wasn't wowed by anything. I now know next time to go with a different main dish; this will be relatively easy as their website pictures show several tasty options worth trying! If you haven't gone to Eastern Bay in a long while due to the poor previous management, GO NOW, as it's completely changed hands and the food is definitely on my radar.

Heading out of my way to Eastern Bay Chinese Restaurant and it is definitely worth the drive. I ordered most of my dishes from the Authentic Chinese dishes section and would highly recommend on the same. My favorite is the West Lake Beef Soup and the Skewers. They offer a couples variety of the skewer, such as beef, lamb, fish ball, etc... I am a fan of different type of skewers, especially on the Chinese style skewers. Each skewers is about bite size and it packed with favors. It is always a prefect snack whenever hanging out with friends.

Lunch buffet (General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp & Vegetables, Twice Cooked Pork)

The Cliff's Note version of this review is that for the lunch buffet, they offer great service and value, with the food being so-so. I've lived in the area for over a decade and have noticed this Chinese restaurant countless times while driving by it on Riverside Drive. But I have my go-to Chinese restaurants closer to home/work so I'd never been here before. I recently started craving a Chinese buffet for some reason, and Yelp led me here for lunch today. (With China Dynasty and Hong Kong Buffet gone, it was either here or Asian Star.) The building is kinda run down, but the service was excellent. I ordered a Diet Coke and got 3 refills without having to ask in the 45 minutes that I was there for lunch! I've gone 45 minutes without a refill at a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, so that's pretty impressive for a Chinese buffet. The buffet area was clean, and the food I tried were all pretty good for a buffet. (with the exception of Empress Chicken, that was way too sweet.) I especially enjoyed the Twice Cooked Pork. The downside is that the buffet consisted mostly of chicken dishes, with only 1 shrimp dish, 1 pork dish, several veggie dishes, and zero beef dish. I would've preferred more variety in meat options. But their lunch buffet was only $9.75/person, so it's an excellent value. If Yelp allowed half stars, I'd rate this 3.5. Since they don't, I'll round up to 4 stars in recognition of their excellent service and value.

I went to this place before and it was great. It's totally cheap too because the lunch price is $9.75.

They have a menu of items you can try in order off of, but my sister and I got the buffet and we're sure glad that we did. They had some salad bar items and then hot bar items with different items that rotate daily. In addition, they had a gentleman carving beautifully cooked steak, lamb, and sausage at your request. Everyone that worked there was super nice and helpful. Multiple people stopped by to check on us and welcome us. All the food was delicious and we picked out a few desserts to take home from the bakery (not included in the buffet price). There's also a little Brazilian market attached to the restaurant that is worth checking out as well. The restaurant itself had a really nice vibe with exposed brick walls. One of the women working told us that happy hour is from 12 to 8 but I will have to come back and try one of their cocktails at some other point. I will definitely be back.

The label clearly said "Use By Thu 7/23," meaning the product was past its expiration date. This is a serious quality control and food safety issue. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've had problems with this restaurant. The service is often very slow, and more than once I have waited for over an hour, only to be told that the item I ordered was unavailable and that I had to choose something else instead. My advice to anyone buying ready-to-eat food here is: always check the expiration date before eating, because it seems that the staff is not consistently checking it themselves.

I walked in, I was standing at the hosted stand, waited for literally 5 minutes, I almost turn around and walk out, how do you let a customer standing at the front for 5 minutes? Since it was my first time, I'm not sure do I seat myself or someone will come up and help me seated. I saw 1 waitress working, she was pouring drinks for a table of 8-10 people, for a bit, i seriously thought she's the only one working at the front. Finally, another waitress came out from the back. I seated, already not happy with the service for a first time customer. The other waitress came, asked me what I like to drink. I looked over the menu, and read some the options, seem like the popular dish is the $12.99 lunch bowl, waitress came back, no drink. Asked me ready? Help yourself. Huh? I'm like no I'm not ready, where is my drink? I seriously wanted to walk out. I'm like okay, give it a chance. She came back with my drink, asked me again, I told her, I never been here, how is this work? She said you can take the $12.99 lunch special, or you can do the special combo, which includes drink, appetizer and I think the California roll for $19.99. I told her just do the $12.99, and she told me take this empty bowl and go get my own food, they cook it for you. I'm still very confused, they give you a card, write down your name and your table number. So I'm thinking maybe I take the card with me, I took whatever I like to eat, and leave the card with my bowl for the cook. After few minutes, I was t really sure, do I go get the food myself or the server going to bring the food to me? Very confusing, I read the other Yelppies wrote the server is very helpful to her, but I gotta say, not at all during my visit. Food is okay, nothing so special except is cheap, $12.99 lunch special Very bad experience for sure You all can go tried, you maybe like it, but don't expect anyone will help you
