My mom and I were craving Japanese food, so we decided to try somewhere new. The ambience is very neat and modern--good for a date. She ordered Chirashi and I got Salmon Don. It took us a while to order and receive our meal. For $18, I was really sad to see 6 pieces of salmon in my bowl. This is a decent local spot for sure. Dropped by on a Sunday night and it was legit slammed! Parking lot is small and there were about a million take out orders flying out the door - a good sign. Started with steamed dumplings which were decent. For dinner I had the drunken noodles with shrimp. They had a nice kick although I'd ask them to up the spice just a tad next time. Wow! I had the shrimp Thai fried rice and it was fantastic! They gave me the option for making it spicy on a scale of 1-5. I like spicy food, so I went with a 3 (my lips were left with a bit of tingling, so I might have preferred a 2, but the 3 also had great flavor so I would probably recommend it). First time trying here, but pass it regularly wanting to check it out. We went on a rainy Saturday for lunch. They had a lot of orders for takeout, with only a handful of patrons. The service was a tad slow, and we had to wait a bit for our order to be taken as well as our food to arrive. There was also a question of whether we'd get our change back on our bill when we paid, as we waited about 10 minutes on it. I had the pad Thai as it's a favorite dish of mine and I have a bar of what good pad Thai is. This was pretty standard, while a large serving I do admit that I ate it all. There wasn't anything that blew me away by it, as Smiling Elephant is by far the better option just down the street especially at the price point. My lunch date got the sweet and sour chicken, again, pretty standard, which he enjoyed. I used to LOVE this place. We would order takeout or delivery nearly every week a few years ago. Last night we ordered $60 worth of food I was completely shocked by how terrible the quality was. I literally thought for a moment that perhaps our Uber eats driver had swapped out our order with gas station sushi.. it's been a couple years since I had ordered from them so I'm not sure how long the food has been like this. The sushi rolls weren't fresh at all and actually made us sick. We live only a couple miles away so it wasn't due to delivery time issues. One of the rolls was nearly $20 and clearly hadn't been prepared fresh at all, possibly not even within the same day. Very disappointing. Maybe they're just skimping on quality for delivery orders and it's better if you actually go there and order a meal to eat in the restaurant but this was so disgusting, I will never attempt to eat any food from there ever again. read more

TEP is truly a treat off the beaten path of Nashville. They host a diverse menu of asian fusion fare, great service, and an intimate vibe. I've been to the eastern peak several times for different occasions and it has been the perfect setting without fail. Happy Hour is stellar if you can make it. I believe they have a number of martinis and maybe even food specials. For a larger birthday, the menu was strong enough to please a diverse group. The sushi rolls have impressed me twice now, so its a 5/5 for me. The fried calamari and fried rice seem to be bog hits as well. When it comes to service, TEP has never skipped a beat on any of my dining experiences. Keeping it short and sweet, if you like asian food with a cozy, romantic feel... Stop by TEP. I was expecting more, given the ambiance and prices, but the food ended up being only substandard Asian fusion. Sampler Platter: 3/5 I split this with two other people. Everything (spring rolls, gyoza, shu mai-like steamed dumplings, crab rangoons) tasted as if it had been store-bought frozen then reheated. The gyoza and steamed dumplings specifically were overcooked and almost looked as if they had been deep-fried, as opposed to the traditional methods of pan-frying gyoza and steaming steamed dumplings (obviously). Also, the sauces served on the side didn't add anything, as they tasted like they came straight from the bottle. Basil Duck: 3/5 This was also disappointing. First of all, the dish was cold when it was served. Because of this and also because the duck was most likely not cooked properly, the skin was mushy, not crispy, and the meat was tough to cut with a knife and chew. Also, the duck, along with the veggies piled on topped of it, were smothered in a standard brown sauce that added no complexity to the dish. However, one thing I did appreciate was that the hottest spice level (5) was sufficiently spicy for me and my relatively high spice tolerance. For the sides, the jasmine rice was average, but the salad was surprisingly good, with the ginger dressing being thicker and more flavorful than usual. Service: 4/5 Our server was attentive, and our food came out reasonably fast. She also quickly corrected our checks when she charged the wrong person for the sampler platter. However, it was a little strange that before we were seated, we had to explain the concept of pushing two tables together to the staff because otherwise they didn't have a large enough table to fit all 11 people in our party. read more

** (Update to my post below: I think leaving this restaurant was a blessing in disguise, as I see a review from 3 months ago where ROACHES were found in the food, and they have pictures) ** My family and I have visited this restaurant on many occasions and love the food here. My niece was in from Michigan and we were a party of five. We had a great day and when we arrived the waitress was very polite and seated us. I ordered my usual the Chinese old fashioned and everyone else asked for water to start. As we were sitting the lights above us in our section were flickering, which causes me to have bad migraines. I asked the waitress if we could be seated somewhere else as there were several locations that were available. She politely said she would check. I could see our waitress at the bar talking to a lady about our situation and I could immediately tell this lady was not having it. She turned out to be the manager and I could tell from her face and body language that she was not allowing us to be moved from our location. The waitress came and said she could move us back but not to the other locations away from the flickering light. After the obvious rudeness from the manager we got up to leave and I asked the front door greeter who the lady was that our server was talking to and she informed me that it was the manager. I said thanks and as we were leaving, the manager came to the door and was literally standing outside to talk to us in a very unprofessional and rude manner. When I asked for her name she said she would not give it to us and said fuck you on several occasions and used other various curse words. When I went back in to ask the greeter what her name was, the manager said for her to go to another post and asked for me to leave the establishment. In my 40 plus years of life I have never had a restaurant establishment treat me or my family like this. And the language that this lady used was extremely unprofessional, especially with a 4 and 5 year old waiting beside our car. The food is excellent at this location, but until this manager leaves, I will never be back. I hope there are cameras at the establishment....especially outside, so the owner can review to hear her language and hopefully so the manager can review and see just how unprofessional she really was. read more

I went here with a couple girlfriends this eve. I just have to say. I love this place. The sushi is awesome. I had the red dragon and the TNT rolls. This is probably one of the, if not my favorite sushi place in Nashville. The TNT roll I liked a little better, but I'd order them both again. I also had the elderflower cocktail. It was pretty good as well. It looks gorgeous inside. I think the only downside I had was the server. I'm not sure I've ever felt like this any other time, but every time she walked to the table. It just felt awkward. It took about 15 or so minutes between giving her the credit card and her returning it. Which I talk a lot and have awesome friends so not the worst thing in the world. Overall, I spent a lot for one person. But I think the food is definitely worth it. I think my rolls were 13-14, which is fairly average. I'd forsure come back here for sushi. I want to give Eastern Peak a quick review. Eastern Peak is in a very unassuming place. It has a large parking lot next to a LapCorp office. They have a large restaurant and small patio seating that can be enclosed with cooler months. I came here for happy hour and ordered solely from that menu. I enjoyed everything I had with the sushi rolls, drinks, and gyozas. It was okay... the salmon and yellow tail were fantastic actually and wish that's the only fish I got. The tuna wasn't fresh, octopus was okay, White fish okay, mackerel is gross period. To their defense, sushi on a Tuesday is risky anywhere; eating what's left from the weekend rush. We decided to stop in here on the way back to the airport, because we hadn't done any Asian food since being in town. Zero regrets. This was as good as Yelp reviews said it was. The Gyoza and spring rolls were on point. The soy noodles with shrimp were absolutely amazing. We also got two rolls (Hawaiian and Dragon). The Hawaiian roll was really well done, but the dragon roll was a work of art. Didn't expect it to be so good. Pleasant surprise. We heard that The Eastern Peak was going to be opening up a location in the Gulch and wanted to try it out. A lot of Thai restaurants are not open on Sunday so we were happy to see that The Eastern Peak was open for dinner. The location on Thompson was really strange because it seemed so out in the middle of nowhere. You would have to go out of your way to find this place. But hey - the restaurant had customers there and obviously by reading the other Yelp reviews, other people were willing to make the drive out to find it. The restaurant itself has a private parking lot. There is indoor and outdoor seating options. The restaurant was very open and had a nice look - very clean, nice decor, wine bottles on the wall, a bar right as soon as you walked in the door. The one thing that hit me as soon as I walked in was the smell. It was not the amazing Thai food aroma that I was expecting. It was that nasty Glade plug-in air freshener smell that I hate. It may be one of the top ten smells that I cannot stand. And it was strong. Ugh. We did not have reservations but since it was fairly slow, we were seated right away. We had a great server who was friendly, attentive and provided good service. I ordered the Tom Kha Chicken soup to start. It was soooo good. It is the perfect thing to eat on a cold winter night. The coconut milk was creamy but not heavy and the bright sour flavors from the lime leaves was so good. It had just the right amount of heat. I could have eaten gallons of the soup. Our entrees were also delicious. Great portion sizes. The Broccoli Chicken (I substituted instead of beef) was delicious. Perfectly cooked broccoli. I know my entree was not Thai but that was what I was in the mood for. I think next time I'll try one of the noodle entrees or a curry. $38 after tax and tip for one soup and two entrees. No drinks. By far the best Thai we have had. My sister in law ordered during her last visit and mentioned how much she missed it. She came back to visit and we ordered for the whole family and friends for the evening. We all got the chicken pad Thai. We tried the Thai basil fried rice and it was amazing! I'm writing this review about a month later. However, a month ago when I last dined here, I felt like their staff was still working out the kinks. Our waitress forgot the salad my mom ordered and she mistook​ my sashimi for nigiri. The food was worth the confusion, though. One of my usual dishes if they serve it at a restaurant, drunken noodles, tasted delicious here. I also loved the blue mimosa I drank. Finally, the sashimi is one of the best I've had in the Nashville area. That said, it is on the pricier side. Could you find a more hole-in-the-wall place with the same quality of food at a cheaper price? Probably. But if you have the money, it's worth the taste and the posh setting. read more
