Awesome dinner last night. I like that they have half portions on some dishes. I had the half Jumbalya and app of blackened scallops together. Very tasty with a great kick! My wife had the Beef Tenderloin cooked perfectly and Bernaise sauce. Strong Street is shut down for the summer so we sat out side on the street to hear the music playing out there. A perfect weather evening too made for a very enjoyable night. Great Cosmos's for my wife and i loved my Fiddlehead IPA. Eastside one our go to restaurants in the area never disappoints. Jill our server was awesome as was bartenders inside Steve and Brian who allowed me to humor them with the results of my recent doctors visit! LOL Thanks for a great dining experience!

12 oz steak with Gouda fondue and candied bacon

Ok yum! We wanted to try a new place in Northampton instead of our usual spots and I am so glad we did! My fiancé and I both got the 12 oz steak which was cooked as requested. I got mine covered in the Gouda fondue and candied bacon which I was hesitant about but ended up really liking. Our server was really great, she was attentive and checked in on us frequently. The place is lit up right now for Christmas so all the lights make the ambiance really nice and romantic. We finished with maple crème brûlée which was 10/10. We are for sure going back!!

Friendly neighborhood eatery where it's fun to sit at the bar and enjoy gourmet food, including many Cajun-themed apps and mains.

Good news for homebound foodies waiting for the end of coronavirus, the kitchen at Eastside Grill is cooking and delivering to Northampton and Florence. As a guy who lives in NYC and has traveled to work in Northampton weekly for five years, the Eastside Grill knows how to run a kitchen. I've had everything from Faroe Island salmon with mustard butter to the NY sirloin with candied bacon & smoked Gouda fondue. It all rocks. I usually eat at the bar. Alas, nightlife is curtailed during our global pandemic. But there is no need to suffer through another rotisserie chicken (though Sutter's does a good job). Some of the best dishes are the Cajun-themed items like the gumbo of the day fried oysters, chicken etouffe, New Orleans style barbecue shrimp and any menu item served blackened. I enjoy this place enough that our office Christmas party was held there. Even the vegans loved the food, especially because the chef accommodated them with Michelin quality chow. The Oreo cheesecake was the dessert if the night! As soon as possible, I'll return for the Eastside's tangy Gorganzola vinigarette salad. But Northampton is under the same "shelter in place" order as the rest of America, so I'm hoping the restaurant survives the pandemic by becoming the best meal delivery option in the Pioneer Valley.

Not many people in the place for dinner time, but it is a large dining area; very pretty inside. From there, not much to brag about. Service was non-existent. Either flagging out waiter down, or never seeing anyone in the dining area. Started with the crab cake, which was done with claw meat and not lumb crab. Very little taste...maybe from being overcooked? Looked and tasted more like a mackerel patty. Also had the carpaccio, which was cut super thin, and probably about an ounce of meat...again, no flavor at all. For the main meal, my wife had the salmon and I had the filet. I lump these together, since the thought is the same. Overcooked and lacking flavor. Mine was supposed to be medium, but was very close to well done with no juice or color left in the steak. I would have sent it back, but no one came anywhere near our table for at least 10-15 minutes since the entrees were served. I had one cocktail...would have had at least one more if anyone would have come by the table again. Pretty place, but there has to be better places for a nice meal close by.

While our table was being set up outside, we enjoyed a drink at the bar--the 15-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The outdoor setting was beautiful, with greenery creating a relaxed summer vibe and live music playing under a small tent, adding to the atmosphere. Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to the area

My only suggestion to make it real Buffalo style is thick blue cheese dip. The other meals served were amazing - two pasta dishes and the fried chicken. All tasty. Everyone loved their dishes. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food brought to the table. I'm surprised at the 4.1 Yelper average. The meal and service we had tonight was excellent.

We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good as usual. Calamari (fried) is served atop an aioli that's heavy with garlic. For my main course I opted for the branzino with seafood risotto. I would not recommend this dish. The branzino came out slightly warmer than room temperature with a big dollop of room temp butter on it. I wonder if the intention was to put the plate under the salamander to warm / crisp things up prior to service but was forgotten. So I scraped the butter off the fish and onto the side plate it went. I was hoping for crispy skin but alas it was not to be found on this dish. Off came the skin and onto the side plate as well. The fish did have a good flavor to it. The seafood risotto was swimming in butter and was not edible. There were several mussels (in the shell) in the risotto, as well as small bay scallops, and several shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were incredibly overcooked and the mussels so gritty that they were inedible. This place used to be my favorite restaurant. I think that this is the last time that I'll dine at Johnny's in Amherst.

The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of an architecturally pleasing brick building, with the interior ambiance (decor & lighting) fitting of the food style, setting a comforting mood along with the classic 50's/60's Italian American music. All around the food was both tasteful and comforting, similar to what I remember my Nonni would make. From the Calamari Friitti (appetizer) served with both a marinara and vodka sauce, the Meatballs (appetizer) of a classic beef and pork blend, to the Chicken Francaise (dinner), everything combined for a delicious meal. Mulino's is a great estaurant to visit with your spouse or friends for a nice 'family' dinner without being overly fancy/stuffy. Our 30 minute wait wasn't bad at all. After we were seated a super friendly member of the wait staff came over and introduced herself. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and within no time she was back with everyone's drinks. We then ordered our entrees. After enjoying the rolls (which were immediately replaced with new fresh ones) our fried onion appetizer arrived. Piping hot and full of flavor it was a perfect shareable item. Before long our salads arrived. They call this a house salad but it's a really elevated house salad. Let's start with the chilled bowls it's served in. Two different lettuces with red onion, cherry tomato, cucumber, croutons, a bit of shredded cheese and some chopped hard boiled egg. It's no small salad. We all enjoyed it and how it was prepared. My mom and sister ordered a 12 oz sirloin cooked medium rare with baked potato. Both were cooked perfectly and had great flavor with the potato going perfectly with the steak. My wife had a combo ribs and rib eye with a baked potato. Ribs were tender and saucy with the rib eye being juicy and again perfectly cooked. We got there around 1:40 p.m. and they closed at 2, so my friend was a little worried, but we were still welcomed and the staff was very friendly. It's a small place, but I actually liked that it felt cozy. We ordered 12 oysters, two orders of gumbo, a kale Caesar salad, the catfish special to split, and a bourbon-based drink. The oysters were $2 each, which I thought was a pretty good deal. The gumbo was really, really good. It came out a little lukewarm, but the flavor was absolutely there 10/10. The oysters were fresh and also 10/10. The bourbon drink was another standout. The presentation was beautiful, the little flower was such a nice touch, and it tasted just as good as it looked. The kale Caesar was where things dipped a little. It was pretty dry, so we asked for extra dressing, but the dressing didn't really add much flavor. When our waitress checked in, we were honest and said it just wasn't our favorite. I hate sending food back or complaining. I'll usually just stop eating it but she was so kind and apologetic. What really stood out was how they handled it. They told us they were taking the salad off the bill, which they absolutely did not have to do. We had planned to just take the one we had already eaten from home and fix it ourselves, but one of the staff members made us a completely new salad to go. She even massaged the kale so it was actually tender and enjoyable. That was such a thoughtful touch. The catfish was a hit for my friend. It wasn't my favorite, but I still ate it. Overall, I would definitely come back. Next time I'd probably keep it simple; oysters, gumbo, and a drink and I'd be happy. The service was phenomenal, and honestly, service really makes a place. Feeling welcomed and comfortable matters, and this place absolutely gave that.
