I went to Jamaica two times last year and the food was one of the highlights of the trip. I was so excited to see that there was an authentic Jamaican restaurant in Radcliff. This food was absolutely delicious. There is nothing i can see here to tell you how delicious it is. All I'm going to say is go try it for your self! The food was flavorful and spicy just like I like it! I don't drink beer, but I was pleased to see that they carried Red Stripe. When you arrive to the resorts in Jamaica, one of the first drinks they offer you is rum punch. This restaurant has rum punch!!! It did not disappoint. I was visiting Kentucky for a week and came across this Jamaican restaurant. When I saw it I had just ate lunch so I decided to grab something small, I got a spicy patty and a medium soup. OMG, it all took me by surprise. I have been to numerous Jamaican restaurants across the US but this one stands out . The lady at the register was very polite and the chef even came out to greet customers which added a nice touch to the visit. After this encounter I decided I had to try their food before my trip ended. I returned for another patty and soup but work went longer than usual and I got there within 30 mins of them closing so the spicy patties were out but the soup again did not miss. I also tried the curry goat with rice and peas and once I started eating, I couldn't stop. As a curry goat lover I might be a bit biased but it was absolutely delicious! When I pulled up and saw a man working a grill beside the building I knew it was gonna be good. I had the curry chicken and a beef patty and it was Heavenly. Perfectly spiced and so tender. The very definition of "fall off the bone". I had a bite of their jerk BBQ chicken from the person I was with and it was so delicious too. Next time I come I might bring a few beef patties home with me, they were so savory and tasty I know I'll be thinking about it for days. They brought the food out quickly, my only complaint is that they initially forgot my beef patty. Luckily that was easily fixed and I was able to get it after I was finished eating. The music they were playing was loud, and I couldn't really hear the man at the register that well, but I mean it wasn't a bad selection of songs. However, if you want to sit down and have a conversation I recommend taking your food to go and talking in the car or at home. I wouldn't let that personal nitpick dissuade you though. Very good Jamaican food. Just found it though they've been open for a bit. I've always loved Jamaican food, curry goat and oxtail stew when made well can be sublime, like crawfish etouffe, or a Jeff Ruby dry aged bone in ribeye. Anyway back to The Spot. It's a smallish restaurant with booth seating proudly displaying Jamaica's national colors. I think it's a cultural thing, maybe, but I've never been to a Jamaican restaurant where the staff was overly friendly, always kind of get the side eye, lol. No matter because the food is usually amazing and for some of the dishes at The Spot that would be true. Their curry goat and their version of the iconic jerk chicken are some of the best I've had. My favorite Jamaican dish, hands down is oxtail and theirs is good but not as good as others I've had. I recently tried their red snapper, it was delicious and spicy (by choice). It's made to order so it's about a 20 minute wait. You can call ahead for seafood entrees. They offer steamed white rice or rice and beans, cabbage medley and plantains. I've have meat patties, what Jamaican restaurant wouldn't, it seemed homemade but tasted frozen store bought. A nice selection for some Caribbean cuisine. read more

I usually eat here twice a week since they have opened. I slowed down the past three months because of the inconsistency of the brown stew chicken. Today my order was messed up twice. The new people they have working the front and the back have the worst customer service and manners. I should've checked my food before leaving because I had to drive all The way back from base for my food correction and was greeted with an attitude. The price for a large brown stew chicken plate and drink ran me 28.00. I don't mind paying but my plate looked like a kids meal version today. I chose to eat at this spot twice. both times I watched as employees served people of the same ethnic group (jamaican decent) and they open the plate for them to view before having them take their food and bag it. in my case both times they gave me my food without allowing me to view. I noticed that my food portion was much smaller than the others I seen served of the same decent. Just stopped in here for lunch today, and it did not disappoint. I had the Jerk Chicken with rice and bean and callaloo (Jamaican Collard Greens). The Jerk Chicken was too good; juicy, smoky, and not too hot. The beans and rice were flavorful and the callaloo was amazing. My family, many of my church family, and some of my co-workers from Fort Knox, won't be eating here again. None of us are happy with the customer service of food selections. The women look at you with distain when you enter, rarely mumble thank you and don't smile. The workers are not welcoming at all, not even when you try to make conversation with them. Maybe it's the culture, but it doesn't feel good when spending your hard earned money with unfriendly people. Don't buy the oxtail. While the oxtail are tender, they lack in actual Jamaican Flavor (no Jamaican allspice, no brown sugar, no flavor of thyme, or garlic etc.). The worse of it is, they give you VERY FEW oxtail, with an abundance of gravy and cabbage. The jerk chicken tastes like chicken that can be thrown on the grill, at any American backyard barbecue in this country. We really wanted to love this Jamaican Restaurant, since the Jamaican Restaurant that was across from Walmart in Radcliff (that had friendly staff) closed down abruptly. With Grinch-like staff, and skimpy, flavorless offerings, the Jamaican Spot will almost certainly meet a similar fate. read more
