Very disappointed in management lack of response for a reservation refund. The reservation was cancelled at check-in time by Aaron at front desk, there was an issue that the Driver's License of the guest had expired the day before and was unacceptable for check-in . Since I booked the reservation, I was called by the guest with the issue. I spoke with Aaron explaining that the hotel reservation was booked under my credit card # and I could fax/email him my ID if needed validify the reservation. Aaron declined acceptance of this validity & said he would have to cancel the reservation. I informed Aaron that this was booked on hotel.com and I would have to had canceled before 24 hrs before to obtain a refund and we are not cancelling our reservation the hotel is. Aaron assured me that in the event I was charged, contact my credit card company and dispute the charge and he would verify the incident so I would get a full refund. Upon disputing, the hotel response to the credit card company was "no show" & "had the opportunity to cancel 24 hrs in advance." What? "No Show?". I called the hotel and requested to speak with Aaron only to find he's been terminated. After several calls to Eaton DC to resolve this issue, I finally received a call back from a manager who claims she will look into the matter & get back with me.... no response to date. I've stayed and booked many fine hotel reservations in various parts of the U.S, I can say that I've never experienced such a lack of co-operation in resolving what should have been a simple fix. Hopefully my next review on this hotel will be management resolved issue. read more

This is my new favorite spot in the entire city, not even kidding. Bar none, Eaton is the perfect space for all of my needs. Every aspect of the space is expertly curated to perfectly accent each other and create a super modern and chic hotel. The first time, I came here was to study for finals. After hearing about the incredible pro-social events, I knew I had to check it out. The hotel consists of several distinct spaces, a coffee shop/cafe, large lobby with individual workspaces, art exhibits on all the walls, a speakeasy, a cinema, a coworking space, a handmade store, and a full-service restaurant. And that's just the ground floor! You don't need to be staying at the hotel to access any of the spaces. We started off studying in the lobby because the cafe was full. It's honestly such a productive space; there's tons of chic seating, outlets, and beautiful books to keep you busy. After a while, we headed to the coworking space, which was equally spacious and quiet. At 6pm, the speakeasy opens up, and I have to say its a must visit. It honestly feels like a scene from a James Bond movie; everything is so dark and luxurious. Cocktails range from $12-$16 but are well worth it. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and their recommendations can't be beat. If you're looking to party, the rooftop Wild Days turns into a club at night. Like the rest of the hotel, the ambiance is amazing! And if the weather's nice, you can head out to the rooftop terrace for great views of the city. Overall, Eaton is honestly a gem in the heart of DC. Make sure to check this place out for awesome social justice events! read more

This is for the coworking space. Pros: Beautiful, thoughtful design - it's intentionally created as a place for artists, creatives & activists. They have some interesting programming, and a great rooftop. Cons: It's very expensive for what it is, which seems to be completely counter to attracting artists, creatives & activists. The drop-in rate comes out to $85 per 8 hour day (or $45 for 4 hours) - what artist or activist is going to (or even can) spend that to sit at a coworking space? Particularly when $300 / month provides access to every WeWork location in the city 24/7. The food & beverage is hit and miss - sometimes it's great, other times not. Same with the staff - some are friendly and knowledgable, others are very much not. While I really wanted to like this space, it's hard to not view it as part of the new breed of "elite woke" that I've come to dislike, that is literally about being exclusive, not inclusive. They vett prospective members, meaning it's really a private club. Again, seems out of line with their stated mission of "We encourage grassroots projects and artistic expression, and believe that hanging out with fellow dreamers and doers is the best path toward a more utopian society." Apparently this utopian society is not open to everyone, and if you would like to participate you will first stand and be judged worthy or not. This space seems more about people who can afford to be "dreamers" in beautiful surroundings, rather than the actual "doers" in DC focused on the hard work to make things happen. read more

5 STARS ALL THE WAY. I stayed in a suite on a business trip of mine. The room was cozy, clean and charming. The overall experience in the hotel was top quality. The team beat every expectation (Thank you Kathy!). The service was effective and warm throughout the whole staff. The interiors are designed in a very tasteful way with beautiful art, record players and details. Even though I am routined traveller, my night at the Eaton felt like I was staying in a local mansion in the middle of Europe. The cafes are of very high quality- dinner, room service and breakfast -all was of top quality. The location of the building itself is also great - quiet but central. This is an interesting space when you look around because you can see a podcast studio, a hotel lobby, a restaurant, and a bar. The details are the strong feature of this coffee shop. The lights, the plants (even plants are so beautiful here ugh), and the little details on plating will make you enjoy this place. I tried latte and it was alright :) Nothing really special for the latte compare to other local coffee shops in DC. Read Mfj N.'s review below. Spot on. Came to town for a conference and the conference hotel was booked so the travel agent booked us at the Eaton hotel (how does one refer to it? The Eaton hotel? Booked us at Eaton Workshop?). I loved a lot of little details about the hotel - like the steamer in our rooms instead of an iron and ironing board, the unusual assortment of items in the mini bar (kombucha and energy bars). But mystified at the lack of hooks to hang a wet hand towel on, the lack of a coffee maker in the room, or the fact that turning on the shower requires you to stand directly in the path of the oncoming stream of water from the shower head?? The restaurant (American Son) didn't open until the morning I checked out. Had a lovely breakfast of avocado toast (naturally) and copious amounts of coffee that they kept coming - I really appreciated that. My colleagues enjoyed their breakfast of eggs Benedict and eggs in a basket. The Allegory bar was a challenge to find (on purpose) but I liked the atmosphere and the bartender was lovely. I really like it - as a recent teetotaler - when I find a drinks menu that includes creative and interesting non-alcoholic options. I understand the desire to be energy efficient and require the use of a key card to keep lights and electricity operating. It probably would have helped to have staff explain that slowly and in detail - took me a minute to figure out. All in all, I would come back. The location was really convenient. I thought it provided good value. What would make it really fun is if the hotel was a little less earnest and poked a little more fun at itself for really being just the epitome of hipster millennial cool. read more

It was our 3 year anniversary this weekend and we were over the moon excited to stay at the Eaton. We don't get to stay at many hotels so this was a big deal for us. When we got to our room, the turntable and mini fridge didn't work. We called the front desk and after 30 mins, someone came up to replace both. This wouldn't be a huge deal if the TV kept working. Every couple of minutes, it would shut off. The salt lamps also didn't work and the website stated you had access to a Bluetooth speaker which was unusable. Around 11 PM, we went downstairs to go to Allegory (hotel bar). The man added us to the list and we proceeded to wait the next 3 hours for any sort of update. We moved up only three spaces on the list before the bar closed. Asking for some sort of indicator of whether we'd get in that night, the man managing the list gave us no information. It was something we were looking forward to and since they don't accept reservations the whole situation was a bit disappointing. Additionally, when I was making the hotel reservation online, there was an option to purchase a late-check out option. When we got to the hotel, we asked about doing this and the response was unclear. We didn't get a straight answer when checkout was so we just played it safe and were out by 11AM. The only redeeming thing about our trip was Michele's. We've loved that restaurant this past year and it didn't disappoint. I know it was a very busy weekend for the hotel, so I understand some shortcomings. But this was overall just disappointing. After telling the front desk at checkout of all the negatives, he said we should have told them and they would have replaced everything. It made me feel like it was our fault. Just stayed there 11/19-11/21. All in all we loved this hotel with one huge exception (see below). The hotel is stylish and has some great bars and a good coffee shop on site. The rooftop bar is wonderful, though I wish it was open in the daytime, there is a lovely terrace. As others have mentioned, the hotel room coffee situation was abysmal. The rooms do not have coffee makers, if you want to make coffee in your room in the mornings you must request one. When I did, we received a very old and intermittently functional keurig and *2* coffee pods, one of which was destroyed by the machine. Every morning when I would request more coffee, even if I asked for more than 2 pods (hey, my partner and I like a couple of cups of coffee in the morning!) we always received just *2* pods and then had to call back to the front desk to request more. Then it was a game of trying to make the machine work. I would have gladly exchanged the tv (or even the turntable) for a functional coffee machine with adequate supplies. Other than the epic fail around coffee, this hotel is wonderful and e enjoyed our stay. I truly don't understand why they don't have in-room coffee machines standard.. read more

I like the concepts and the room is nice, but so many small fails that keep adding up. Of the 2 times we tried to use the restaurant, one night they decided to close early and the other they had an "event" so also closed. This was in 4 days. Ok, plenty of good restaurants around but inconvenient if the plan was for a quick bite and sleep, but did lead us to the great Hamilton restaurant! Go there! Which leads to the biggest issue- the staff need more training. Simple things. No one knows anything about what is around the hotel. The very sweet guy at the door couldn't give us directions (he was new) the front desk people couldn't answer simple questions and no one was in any mood to be helpful. I travel a ton for work and pleasure (this trip was for fun). Seems like they aren't hiring the right people or don't spend the time to train them. Perhaps too much emphasis on being young, trendy/woke, etc. and overlooking the basics. Based on the price point of the hotel we expected better. read more

This may well be one of the worst hotels I have ever been in, including the one time I had to stay at a broken down motel with no running water. Their big selling point is that they are big vinyl enthusiasts. The record player in our room doesn't even work. And do you think the bottled water in our room was cold? No, because there isn't any bottled water in our room and you have to specially request to have a refrigerator, if they have one. A coffee machine? Are you kidding? Who has coffee machines in a hotel room. For the price that you pay here you're better off getting a tent and camping on Logan Circle. This is not a hotel; it's a nightclub with hookup rooms for partiers who get to intoxicated to make it home. Save your time and money. read more

Beautiful hotel! Modern and chic. a The hotel feels like a bit of a private club inside. There is an upscale bar-restaurant, with a comfortable chic satellite daytime eatery for morning and lunchtime fare, with coffee drinks and prepared yogurt, chia, and acai parfaits to go. There's a fully geared broadcast station that is touted as a "workshop" but does not offer classes or use of the facilities to the public. I contacted the station's manager, a third party unaffiliated with the hotel, I was informed. So I got the skinny from the manager himself. I initially gave them 4 stars, but then they overcharged me by more than 100%. My card was run on check in with a reduced rate I negotiated on New Years Eve (unheard of, right?). Then I had gotten sick from what felt like waves of high frequency in my room and threw up in the hotel room and in their lobby (funny enough, right where a lab dog had peed in the lobby earlier in the night) requiring that I stay an extra day, then on check out, the manager denied the agreed upon lower negotiated price and charged me a price 100% higher! Had they just admitted to exposure of a guest to a high frequency charge? When I had initially arrived the valet had run up to me on the street as I was parking and said I could use the hotel garage without charge. The manager then repeated what the valet had already offered me, as though the valet had not already made the offer. Then I was overcharged for the room. Scams! read more

I'm not sure where to start with The Eaton.. I'd have given it more stars if that were an option! Truly one of the more inspired and well thought out hotels we have ever stayed in (and we travel.. a lot!). The aesthetics were spot on. Decor was fun but not busy, colors and textures were relaxing yet upscale. From the salt lamps to the record player in the room to the super comfortable bedding and probably the best smelling shower products I have ever used, we loved it all. Starting the day out at the coffee shop was a real treat, (the overnight oats and the Tumeric Late were favorites) and ending the day with dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, American Son, was exactly what we were looking for. The food was creative, flavors were delicious, and the menu was vegan friendly! (The Honey Nut Squash Curry and the matcha ice cream were OMG yum!) I said I didn't know where to start, but I definitely know where to end, and that's with the best part.. the staff! We were always met with a smile. Time after time the front door staff, wait staff, hostess, and even management were willing to go above and beyond to make our time there memorable. All of them the perfect balance of professional yet fun. I love that The Eatons impact extends beyond just the lodging it provides. It's also socially and environmentally conscious. A business with purpose. I really look forward to staying here again to take better advantage of the wellness programs they offer. We were a little hesitant to come to DC for my 40th Birthday simply because with all the COVID-19 restrictions in place we weren't sure if it would be worth it.. it absolutely was, thanks in large part to The Eaton. read more

I stayed at The Eaton this week to celebrate my birthday with a screening in the private theater. I highly recommend if you are thinking of hosting a small event. The room: was a good size, decorated well, clean, the windows open a good amount to get fresh air, comfortable bed and it has a record player! The restaurant (American Son) had great delicious food options. We ordered the duck leg, calamari, and harissa buffalo octopus. The BBQ chicken pizza had good flavor but was just okay. I'm a New Yorker so it's hard to impress me with pizza. The Staff: were friendly, professional, helpful, personable, and willing to make anything work so I had a great stay and event. read more

I went here for the first time for a teacher workshop with Teaching for Change and BLM at schools. It is a beautiful area and a beautiful building. The room we used was a pretty good size, although we definitely needed more room since there were a lot of teachers who showed up. A nice man was standing by the door and helped direct teachers where we needed to go. There is a coffee shop as well as a wellness center which I thought was pretty awesome. I would have to say though that my favorite part is the library. The library is cozy, and the books are separated by genre. There is a good variety of books, and I was super excited about seeing all the books, a lot of them by authors of color. I actually want to do a staycation here. Such a cool space. read more

A nice conversion of the previous Sheraton four points (amazing what a little black paint can do to an exterior). Kind of like Langham meets the LINE - not too over the top in luxury and fun in design. Definitely a unique addition to the DC hotel market that is badly in need of some spice. While the majority of my stays are with larger global brands, I've increasingly sought out smaller, boutique properties that combine a convenient location, great amenities, clean, thoughtful design elements and good value for money. My first stay at Eaton DC was fantastic -- great people on staff and fun, unconventional elements like the in-room turntable and quirky curated vinyl selection. The room and property were immaculate fun and a super comfortable place to relax for a couple nights. I'm also a huge fan of the very vibrant and visible cultural awareness and social and environmental justice ethos embodied. read more

I want to love Eaton but the drink and food prices are outrageous. Granted this is because of the location, they need to remember the audience and our price elasticity. Eaton is a very unique space that celebrates the culture and creativity of DC's melting pot. It ostracizes DC natives who likely can not afford their prices and will eventually turn into an upscale locations. I would challenge them to see if they can offer more promotions. read more

I had the pleasure of staying here during the hotel's first couple of weeks. My stay was one night and I didn't have a chance to check out the wellness services or bars, so this is a review for my room and overnight stay only. Overall, the hotel and room are impeccably designed. Some might say over-designed but any hotel that is not a cookie-cutter chain last updated in the 80s is a breath of fresh air for me. You could just see the architect and design teams (who I imagine to all be young prodigies wearing glasses they picked up in places like Berlin or Prague) sitting in a room together throwing around words like "curated" and "multi-sensory" and "Jared Leto." The furniture, decor, accessories -- they are all uber cool. Almost a little too cool for school. It's all very Soho House-esque. My room... you guys, there was so much to look at and take in there. I had a junior suite and it's what I envision the Brooklyn studio apartment of a 20-something trust funder who fancies himself to be "an artist" looks like. I had a big and firm but comfy couch to lounge on as I worked and watched tv. The bed was one of those low platform ones and was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was to die for -- huge shower, great bath products and awesome floor tiles I want in my own home. There were touches of wood, brass and leather everywhere and everything had sort of a faded glamour kind of feel. The room also had a collection of books and a record player and vinyl. I am usually traveling for work so would never have the time to play said record player and it seemed to be a bit of forced pretension, but to each his own. There were some other accessories that I had no idea of what they were other than to say some kind of hipster artifacts. There was also a glowing rock/crystal thing on the nightstand that I think is supposed to give you good vibes, which I didn't realize you could unplug so the whole night I had the sensation of the sun rising on my face. I only had a couple issues. One, the lights were motion detector so kept shutting off if I didn't move around a lot. I could not figure out how to work them. Also, the mini bar is stocked with super trendy healthy stuff like kombucha, which isn't really my cup of tea. If you are hung over and just need a Diet Coke, you are SOL. Who should stay here: young, hip, diverse people in their 20s, 30s & 40s who work in creative fields, take daily doses of CBD oil and come from other metropolitan areas (or those who ironically live in places like Cleveland). Who should not stay here: anyone wearing a suit, families (unless they are the kind who name their kids things like Honeysuckle), bachelorette parties (unless your theme is "goddess of the full moon" and your wild night involves a sound bath), middle-aged men who come to town for conventions to cheat on their wives and anyone who voted for Trump. read more
