My first time ordering from here. I ordered Egusi, moi moi, then Nigerian Jollof Let's start with the jollof It tasted like party jollof (if you're African you know) bland, a lil sweet. Not sure why The stew really saved it because otherwise this whole order would've been a 1. The Moi moi was good The Egusi. Whoever made the egusi needs their green card revoked. Lucky I'm Nigerian and could eat it because if it was a non Nigerian trying it for the first time, the whole thing would've went into the garbage. Absolutely bland, they couldve added more palm oil and chicken flavoring for goodness sake. Even a sprinkle of Lawry's seasoning. The pounded Yam was fine and smooth. The egusi also had a weird smell similar to bush meat, very earthy scent which is something I'm not used to. If you're American wanting to try African food for the first time, DO NOT COME HERElrt

Egusi Soup, Pounded Yam with Chicken

Just ordered eguisi chicken and fufu from grubhub. Order was off & when I called the first person I spoke to was so patient & nice. Management was nice too & went above to get my order right and it was worth the wait. Cue really delicious, wanna try new cuisine get this. It was delivered fresh & hot. My Nigerian friend made this for me a while back and this restaurant didn't disappoint on the similar taste. Thanks eazy life & I will order again!! 5 stars customer service & taste!

    Jollof rice with fried Chicken

This was my first order from the restaurant. I usually order from another but it was closed. I tried the egusi soup with fish and pounded yam & an order of Jollof rice with fried chicken. The jollof rice tasted very burnt. Had no flavor except burnt pot flavor. The fried chicken was literally over cooked to the point the meat was too hard to eat from the chicken. That was unacceptable. The egusi soup was very DRY. It has no sauce at all. I did not like the flavor and it tasted like it was there all day. The fish was tasty but also very dry. The pounded yam was nasty. There are chunks of powder and I literally threw BOTH meals in the trash. The egusi and pounded yam made my stomach ache very bad. The rice could not be eaten due to the burnt.

Restaurant very clean. I can say it looked spotless which surprised me because it is also a location people go to for "night life". The food on the other hand was not my favorite. Before writing my reviews I try to go to a location more than once. That way i can determine if it is a off day. Sadly all 3 of my visits here was disappointing. I called ahead on each time to place order but when I arrived still had to wait half hour for it to be ready. I'm not sure why as it was clearly just warmed frozen food. Definitely a let down. I would not classify as authentic Nigerian cuisine.

The food is excellent but the prices are quite high. $40 for spinach stew and a pepper soup isn't sustainable

OMG it's the best food on this side of Nigeria. It'll be the closest thing to home. It's my Nigeria here in America.

I had to take a star away because they didn't have any jollof rice and that was one of the main items we came for.

At first I…read morewent to their old location which was closed but there was a sign & a young man handing out directions to the new place. If you're a New Yorker, and pay ridridiculous amounts of money to live in this city, then you have to try every kind of cuisine from every cultural diaspora, that's what makes NYC magical! I love African cuisine, my favorite being Senegalese but listen, Ghanaian is now my second! The swallow variety is crazy! And being that I'm recovering from tonsillitis, my throat was in heaven! The food is sooo comforting & delicious. I'm so happy they have expanded because I'm sure their business is going to blow up as more people try this cuisine. The service I received was outstanding! I told the young lady I wasn't familiar with the menu, and she whipped around came out & started answering all my questions. All the meats are halal, so you know it's good quality. I ended up getting fried fish okra stew with tuo zaafi, a swallow made of cassava ($16), and a lamb egusi soup with kenkey, a swallow made of corn ($16). I wanted to try the banku but it wasn't ready. I also got a side of beans & plantains ($5 ea.) I paid with Samsung pay, and promised to be back. Let me tell you! I got soooo much food! The portions are ridiculous. I started with my fish okra soup & it was amazing! I had some of the lamb egusi too, but I'm not a big fan of lamb, but it was good. I've never had such flavors and textures dancing in my mouth. The beans are black eyed & it was also delicious. The plantains were made fresh, they weren't mushy & very yummy! There's enough food to last a week! You must give Ghanaian cuisine a try! I'll definitely be back here! Happy Yelping!

The egusi with lamb was also good, but I prefer okra.
