Overall, the repair quality was pretty poor. The customer service itself wasn't bad--everyone I spoke with was kind and polite. However, after waiting five weeks past the original estimate, my car was returned with a crooked door, scratched tail lights, and a sloppy paint job that started chipping just a few weeks after they painted it. They did take the car back, but again kept it longer than they estimated. They fixed the door for the most part and repainted the areas that had chipped, but there are obvious tape lines and the finish has an orange-peel texture. read more

These guys are super slow. They know that they are one of the only body shops in town so they have zero sense of urgency on getting your vehicle repaired and back to you. Also, for the length of time that it takes to have your vehicle repaired here, the quality of the work is average at best. I've had two vehicles repaired here for insurance reasons, and both experiences were subpar, unfortunately. read more

Not sure how this business got any rating over 1. My experience was not good. They said my truck was ready so I picked it up only to find out the gas cap and nozzle were jammed under neath the bed opening and I was unable to put gas in it. Then my exhaust caused issues when Muffler King told me someone put a Chevrolet tail pipe on my Ford F150---that was Ebby's! My advice, go somewhere else. I brought my car here to be painted they were a week late on completion. I was given multiple excuses as to why it was unable to be completed by the original date from got parts for another car to the workers were sick. When the vehicle was ready and I went to pick up and it is was slapped back together and given to me as is. The car was dirty with grease marks where there hands would be when putting the doors back on, streaks/water drips and the Inside was full of silver paint dust all over my black rugs and leather seats of my jaguar. Never in my life have I picked up a car after being painted without it being fully detailed inside and out. Did not feel like a valued costumer not sure why!! Class A Service Everyone in the building did an excellent job working with me and my car after I had gotten into an accident. While it was significantly over estimate - I don't exactly blame that on their end. My car just has expensive parts, and they did what they could to bring down those costs. Cliff worked with me for the majority of the time, and always clearly explained all of the details for me. the paint and body work certainly came out mint! As for their warranty: I had both a cosmetic and mechanical issue. There were some small scratches from putting the grill back in, and they fixed those without a problem. Mechanically, there was a transmission fluid leak from the radiator. While I did not notice it for quite some time, when I did the entire staff worked with me and my schedule to fix it as soon as possible, I was impressed with how accommodating they were. And, they did end up repairing the issue as well, everything seems to be OK as of today. Overall, the store is extremely consumer centric, with professional staff eager to accommodate and ensure that everything is perfect. read more

Folks at Ebby's know how to paint!!!! They painted my grill and it came out flawless. The receptionists are polite and will work with you on the turnaround time. The painters are very professional and will give you a great estimate the first time around. No need to visit other shops as Ebby's will do it right the first time at very little cost to you. Ebby's was highly recommended by my neighbors. Almost two months ago I had a pretty bad accident south of here, and the State Police had my car towed to another shop. Glad I transferred the car to Ebby's. Ebby's did repair on my vehicle after a fender bender in Philly. The girl that him me's insurance paid for everything and coordinated with Ebby's to get the repair done. They were extremely professional, courteous and kind. The repair took a day longer than originally spec'd, but they called and let me know and coordinated with the insurance company and rental car company for me. The price also came in lower than the place next door, as they repaired the fender, rather than ordering a whole new part. Way to be conscious of the environment as well! read more

Paint looks excellent and is a great match but I had a few issues. Whoever installed my windshield didn't do a terrific job and it had to be redone by Safelite, who told me as much (Ebby's did work with me on this - pretty good customer service in general). However even though I told them how much my car meant to me they didn't bother matching the correct or even similar fabric for my headliner, and obviously used my trunk as a workbench (rested a sander on it, leaving a big circular scratch). Not to mention when I got the car back it leaked water into the cabin (they didn't notice the 8-inch crack in the body from the accident), was not cleaned, and there were random pieces and bolts scattered throughout the car. Bottom line, they do good paint work but I'm not impressed with how they treated my car. Would go back for them to fix it but the last thing I want is them messing with it again. If you don't care at all about your car you'll be fine. read more

I preface this review by saying that I have used Ebby's for my body work before and was very happy with their work and professionalism. However, this time I came to them to remove a protective covering over the front of my car (aka bra) which has been on the front of my car since it was new. Unfortunately, over time, it got hard, turned slightly yellowish, and has cracked and generally looks terrible. I was unable to remove it myself, so took it my favorite body shop. They looked it over carefully, told me they could remove it with a heat gun and buffer, but that it would take a good part of the day to do. They told me what it would cost and gave me an appointment to bring it in a month later. I brought it in at 9:00 A.M. on that day and they told me again that it would take most of the day. I waited patiently and called them at 5:00 P.M. They implied that they had been working on it all day and that finally the owner came to look and said something to the effect that it was just too much labor and they just "wouldn't be interested in doing the job," and that they wouldn't charge me for anything they had already done. I was disappointed, but I could understand that. By the time they told me I could pick it up any time, it was too late to go pick it up. I would have to wait until the next morning to pick it up. You can imagine my disappointment when I got it and saw that they hadn't even TOUCHED it! They didn't even try, but left me the whole day to even let me know. I seriously doubt that they that they didn't know until the end of the day that they didn't want to tackle the job. In a nutshell, I was initially very satisfied with their work. However, I was unhappy that they would make me wait a month just to be seen this time, but gave them the chance because I had been happy with them initially. Most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. Ebby (the owner) is rude, condescending, and quite frankly, immature. A number of other reviews on websites confirm these traits. Best advice: Stay away from this shop. Friendly employees; however a sloppy estimation job did not account for three extra days of additional work and an extra grand in repair costs - resulting from damage that went unnoticed in the initial estimate (minor damage to the front fender and grill). When I was finally summoned to retake possession of my car, I noticed that the brakes were not functioning correctly - one of the brake lines had snapped. Ebby agreed to fix it and the next day when it was available for pick-up, I was told by two different agents (the receptionist and an estimator) that the repair was free of charge. Rightfully so. An independent brake inspection just months prior to the car's trip to Ebby's yielded no problems with brakes. I was thankful that the shop had realized that the damage occurred on their watch and would not be charging for the repair. After finally picking up my car, I started to make my way up to DC for a long planned weekend trip with friends who I hadn't seen in years. I received a phone call from Ebby that there had been a mix-up and I did owe the shop money for the brake repair. A sizable amount, too. Already on my way to DC for the weekend, I told Ebby that I was unable to pay because I had already left town, but I would be happy to come back on Monday. Without hesitation or negotiation, Ebby demanded that I give my credit card number over the phone because the money I owed was immediately due. When I further declined, explaining my reasoning in a thoughtful manner, Ebby threatened to call the police. Not wanting to have my weekend tarnished by this threat, I agreed to turn the car around and head back to the shop to negotiate. In the shop, Ebby insisted that the brake line snapping was due to it "rusting through" and their work having nothing to do with it. His tone was argumentative and demeaning. He seemed to take my logical argument -that brake lines don't just "snap" unless they are triggered by some exterior force- personally. Several times he walked away from me out of frustration and said, "we're done here," only to come back later and continue to argue with me. "Are you insinuating this is MY fault?" He kept repeating. Ebby then took me outside and demanded that I get under the car to look at the undercarriage, which I refused to do, given that I was wearing nice clothes. Although his staff apologized to me for the mix-up and my begrudging trip back to the shop, Ebby never apologized nor appeared to be the slightest bit sympathetic. Finally, after I told Ebby that I would pay for his repairs but I would be sure to tell everyone I could about this terrible experience (including my insurance company), he decided to call up the local representative of my insurance company. I talked to the rep on the phone and he assured me that my insurance company was going to take care of the costs. He apologized for the way I had been treated and then called Ebby to tell him what would be happening. Ebby told me I could go; he reached out to shake my hand but never looked at me. There are lots of Auto Painting and Repair Shops in the Williamsburg area. If you are in need of these services, DO NOT GO TO EBBY'S unless you want to be swindled and disrespected. read more

They did an amazing job on my door and panel behind after the car was t-bone. The Ford dealership insisted a needed a new door and the repair would have cost $1900. Ebbys was able to make the old door look as good as new and match the paint perfectly for $800. read more

I needed to find a place to have my bumper repaired after the accident. Still being relatively new to this area, and the state of Virginia, I was not sure where to go. I received Ebby's name as a recommendation from the car wash. I came in and had my car assessed. They gave me a full estimate and explained everything they would need to replace. They are a very busy shop, so my appointment to drop my car off was almost 5 weeks away. When I dropped my vehicle off the process was very easy. The receptionist also called the car rental place to have them come pick me up earlier than I had previously told them I would need to be picked up. they do great work and stick to the estimated time from the beginning! This place was recommended to me by Howard Motors and I still cannot see why. They had 2 cars ahead of mine to assess and it still was not assessed properly. I told them about other issues with my vehicle that needed to be checked into and they completely forgot to do it at all, after waiting over a week for them to let me know what was going on. Even with it being a single vehicle accident and paid for out of pocket, they still reported it to the insurance company. Oh yeah, and I still have to take it to another shop to finish being fixed. I'm so displeased with their work. When I got my vehicle back, the steering was terrible. My car will never drive smoothly again apparently.I will never EVER use this place again read more

I had my car sent to Ebby's by my insurance company, not at all familiar with them or the Williamsburg area. I was very impressed with their work and quality but more so with their customer service. I never found myself wondering my vehicle's status because they were diligent and reliable in contacting me and keeping me in the loop. Their staff was extremely nice and clear all throughout the way. Ebby himself came out to make sure we had a positive experience and that their work met my standards. Long story short- I have a Civic that was rear ended by Chevy truck. Ebby's did excellent work and it looked like new! Three days later, someone had already tapped my bumper and there were marks on it. Ebby's was kind enough to buff the marks out for me. Take your vehicle to them when you need work done. Had someone hit my van and took it in for work. Told them at drop off that a new bumper should be ordered but was informed that it would be an easy fix. Because it was drivable, it took a month to get in for my appointment. The job only took 4 days, and I did appreciate them keeping me informed. However, when I picked it up, it didn't look good AT ALL. They had heated the bumper up to fix it and missed about 5 spots. The after-work (buffing) looked like it was forgotten completely and there is still tape along the creases of the back window I can't get out from where they protected the windows during painting. I didn't see it until the next morning because we had taken it back home at closing on a stormy day so there was no light. So the next day at home, you could clearly see the shoddy job. Took it back in and had to argue with the manager who said (yes, he really did!) "It was like that when you dropped it off." I informed him that it is a 2011 van with 5,000 miles on it and didn't look like that when we dropped it off. It took him several minutes and a stern reminder of his shop's warranty to have him take it back in and fix his work. Had to wait another month for the second appointment. They had it "done" in one day. When I went to pick it up, the owner, Ebby himself, came out and began immediately talking about how it will "never be the same as factory" and "they did what they were asked." Most of it was mostly fixed, though some dimples and trash in the paint remain. It won't make a difference on resale though and it's not noticeable to anyone but me who knew what it looked like when I bought it so I left instead of arguing....and waiting another month. Basically, they function on turn-over. It seems their main concern is quantity and NOT quality. I also didn't appreciate the typical "she's a woman and doesn't know about cars" attitude that I received. Too bad for them they don't know me very well! ;) Overall, save yourself the trouble. If it's a complicated job, go somewhere else. read more
