I had a very good experience with E Bikes Hawaii. I have been a lifelong cyclist and started as a road racer in high school. I love nice bicycles and ride most days. Anyway, I ordered a very nice custom tandem with hopes of taking my wife and kids for rides. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that I would be doing most of the work and the hills around Kaneohe are not pleasant with a heavy load. That beautiful tandem has been sitting idle for years. I contacted Roy at Ebikes Hawaii to see if he could help me out with an electric hub conversion. He came up with a quality solution (front hub motor) and suggested all the other components to make it work. Within a couple of weeks I was set up with an excellent solution and I'm very happy with the outcome. I'll be contacting Roy shortly to have them install another electric motor on a different bike. I never gave much thought to electric motors on bikes but it is a very nice option for us aging cyclist. It will allow me to continue riding through the years as different body parts wear out. Good guys to work with. Small shop but enough bikes to choose from. You can even just rent a bike for a day if you want. I bought the Stromer ST1 and my work commute from Ewa Beach to Sand Island is so much easier now.. They don't like to answer emails though! The staff at the Ebikes shop at Hickam is incredibly knowledgable, I did not know even know Ebikes existed until I spoke with a young man for about thirty minutes and he was more than willing to help me with all of my questions. He seemed incredibly knowledgable in the field of Ebikes and was able to pinpoint the perfect bike for my needs! I currently live in Mililani where the wind combined with the hills can really take biking out of the work commute equation. I found the perfect solution through their help though, now I am able to get to and from work with ease on my ebike! First, a great product. I had been looking for an electric bike to replace my current folding bike (Dahon Speed 7). Considered an electric upgrade kit but these are expensive and you end up with an add-on. The solution: the A2B Kuo. EBikes Hawaii is great: they spent a lot of time answering all my questions and let me test ride the bike, then ask more questions and offered another test ride. The price is a bit higher than on the mainland, but as we know shipping here is high. This store stands behind its products and really went the extra mile to help me make a wise purchase choice. I was cruising in Kaimuki the other day and happened by the new ebikes hawaii store and went in. To my surprise the these ebikes (electric Bicycle) are insane. The gentleman that helped me (Roy) was very informative and let me take a ride on one. I was very impressed with the a2b line and decided to go back and buy it yesterday. Definitely stoked on my purchase, I love not peddling up the backside of Diamondhead now. My fiancee and I rented E-Bikes for half a day and had an amazing experience! Roy was very professional, friendly and helpful, going out of his way to share local knowledge and suggestions for where to go. We ended up biking around Diamond Head, where there were some pretty spectacular views despite a bit of a grey day weather-wise. On Roy's recommendation, we then biked to Your Kitchen for amazing Japanese food and shaved ice. This was definitely something we never would have found on our own, and the e-bikes made it easy to get there. It was interested to bike around some of the residential neighborhoods of Honolulu to get a feel for what it would be like to live here as a local. As for the bikes, they were very easy to use because of the integrated pedal assist style. Rather than having to deal with a separate throttle, it simply makes pedaling easier and faster. That was much appreciated when going uphill! Even though it was our first time on electric bikes, we were comfortable riding right away, and felt like pros by the end of the few hours. The shop is a bit of a walk from the main Waikiki tourist/hotel area, but certainly close enough to be worthwhile. I'm guessing that a short bus ride or taxi could get you there, but the walk was pleasant enough. You can either walk along the high-end shops or along the canal that borders the golf course. Then the shop is just around the corner. Overall, this was a great introduction to electric bikes and a unique way to cover a lot of ground in Honolulu without breaking too much of a sweat! read more

I had so much fun on the Uno electric bike!! The rentals are super affordable especially since they're such high end bikes!! I live on the island so we just threw the bikes in the car and headed towards Sandy's where we biked through off road trails. The throttle and electric pedal assistance had me joy riding through trail terrain and even through sand once we made it to another beach! I have a regular bike but just wanted to try out the electric bike and I'm so glad that I did, seriously considering going back to purchase one. UPDATE: Although I was truly done and over the entire situation I went into the store today to pay off my first bike. I happened to run into John and he and my husband, who was with me this time, both managed to talk me into voicing my negotiations one more time. I was more ready to pay and leave but they both seemed to want good blood between us rather than bad. To my surprise and confusion John agreed ed to and closed the original deal with me and I unexpectedly walked out owning my own ebike! I'm not sure what happened with everything the first time. But they are good guys, nice and knowledgeable. Get any deals they make with you in writing, They Do Not Keep Their Word. I have been dealing with Ebikes Hawaii for a few weeks now. When I first when in everyone was nice and informative. I got my hubby a bike for a gift and that went without issue. It was at this time that Roy and I struck a deal for me to purchase my own ebike. My bike was ordered in their next shipment and is now on its way to the island. During discussions with John it was made clear to me that they wanted me to put down a certain amount tor me to claim my bike. (The specific amount was named by John the owner and I agreed.) When i went by to pay that amount however, Roy, while knowledgeable and friendly, was clearly anxious and nervous to deal with me. He stated that he had gotten in trouble with his father for the deal he had struck with me and could no longer keep that deal. After some time trying to work with him I finally said okay i just want to put my hold amount down on the bike. Now, Roy began the transaction but after swiping my card he canceled the transaction. I was instructed to just come back when John was there. I was not happy but understood that he had made a deal that he got in trouble for and came back to speak with John. This was a mistake and waste of my time. When I went to talk to John I found that again the price that I was meant to pay was increased yet again. (a total of 3 price increases). This was my last attempt to purchase from them. When i talked to my husband about all of this he stated that it sounded like they were trying to take advantage of my because I had made it clear that i wanted the bike. He also speculated that this may have been a situation like at the car mechanic, where they take advantage of women who come alone. (Speculation, yes) but the lesson here....Get any deal they make with you in writing. They do not keep their word. read more

Excellent customer service! Roy was SUPER helpful and hooked me up with an awesome deal on an e-bike. Since I am a poor college student I can't drop $4k on a top of the line bike, but for the same money I could've spent on a moped, which I would still have to maintain fill with gas and repair often, I was able to get a sweet converted bike with just as much power, if not more. He's was very accommodating let me test ride the bike several times and worked with my budget. I am over all pleased with my life on the e-bike. I zip around town with ease. I never worry about traffic or parking, AND I can put my e bike on the bus for rainy days or longer commutes. These guys are amazing! I had a chance to work with both John and his son Roy, these guys know their products and give great service! At first I was just curious to see what these electrics bikes were all about so I stopped by and met Roy who was very friendly and knowledgeable. I knew I had to do some research before committing to buy anything so I jumped on multiple sites including Ebikeshawaii.com were I had the pleasure of working with John who was also a big help. He gave me some great recommendations in brands and models. After reading all the reviews and doing all my research I settled on the Haibike brand so we went in yesterday to test ride. At first we were only looking for a bike for me but after my wife had a chance to ride it she was so impressed we ended walking away with two bikes! We were so excited to take home our new bikes but it was 5:45pm (15min to closing), Roy ended up staying an hour after closing just to make sure my wife and I could take home our new bikes that evening! I didn't realize the range on my bike was going to be so far and I pedaled a lot in the beginning but after a while I went to electric only and still had plenty of battery charge left when it was time to turn in. I have an electric bike , but got no help with repairs from the company on the mainland. So I began to look for a local connection. I found Roy helpful and I got the chance to ride several different bikes. If you buy on the Internet you do not get the experience of using the bike. I did purchase a bike and I am very satisfied with service so far. Lets hope Roy is successful as local dealers are necessary. Dealing with the Mainland is difficult and if you need a battery it is extremely costly to ship same to Hawaii, as it is classified as Hazardous material. read more

I went to the Hickham AFB shop and test rode several of the E-bikes, what a great commuter concept and go green idea in saving money on fuel cost. The beauty of these bikes is that fact that you don't arrive at work all sweaty. These things are huge in Europe and mainland, and have been in Europe for years. Buyer beware, shady business. I met Roy the day before I was to install an electric bike kit on my brand new bike, since it was almost closing time he told me to come back the next morning so his mechanic could install it. I get there first thing in the morning and first red flag I notice is the kit he showed me the day before, the battery reflector is now cracked, and I'm thinking they switched out the new battery for a used one which happens to be the most expensive part of a e bike kit, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt and hoped for the best. Next red flag is his mechanic, Jacob walks in and right off the bat he seems aloof and unfriendly toward me. I did research and learned that a 500w motor SHOULD use a torque bar to reinforce the fork drop outs on my bike and was informed by Roy that the kit should come with one. As I watched Jacob doing the install he seemed to be irritated, and told me not to watch him. I kindly replied that it's my bike and I'm spending alot of money on the kit, and sure enough as he installed the electric wheel, he purposely left out the torque bar I then inquired if there was a torque bar and he said no, and that I didn't need one. Then Roy comes back in the store and I tell him that I'd prefer if the torque bar was installed. Roy looked through the kit parts and finds the torque bar and shows it to Jacob. I just hold my tongue and watch. Now Roy tells me he's gonna leave and he'll be back in an hour, so it's just me and Jacob. I'm far away from him being quiet and then he tells be in a gruff manner "Boss, it's gonna be an hour and I don't like to be watched, come back later." I reply that it's my bike and I'm paying a lot of money I just want to be sure it's done correctly. He then starts to be rough with my bike. Roy comes back in and says he's decided to stay. Now I'm feeling insecure about this whole business deal and so I start to record Jacob with my cellphone camera. He acts even more irritated for what I don't know because I'm in no way hindering his work nor his space. A business man comes in and makes small talk with Roy, but I'm assuming it's Roy's father pretending to be a customer. After a little while more Jacob turns to me and says "what now you recording me?!" I tell him again I just want to make sure my bike doesn't get damaged. Roy asks Jacob if he minded and then Jacob tells Roy again in a gruff manner "yeah I do" then Roy tells me to stop recording and I tell him look I just want to be sure the install goes smooth. Now Roy starts to raise his voice at me and then the pretend customer starts to jump in saying I didn't have a right to film, so all three of them are ganging up on me, and this is where I feel it's not good business. I tell them to stop the install and just put my bike together. Roy tries to keep the deal going, but I feel threatened by such horrible customer service and decide not to. Jacob put my bike back together roughly leaving scratches to my brand new bike fork and stealing my bike tube that had tire puncture proof slime installed, giving me one that didn't. They gave me such a horrible experience. Beware if you're gonna do business with these guys.They very shady. read more
