I recently started using this Service Center because my wife had always spoken very highly of it,…read moreespecially of her service advisor, Ben Thurston. Before coming here, I used Toyota 355 in Rockville, but after a very disappointing experience there, I decided I would never return and began looking for a dealership that truly values its customers. This was my second visit, and once again Ben Thurston exceeded all expectations. In addition to my scheduled maintenance, I asked him to look into some damage on my wheels that I believed should be covered under my service plan. After reviewing the situation, Toyota initially determined that the repairs would not be covered. While I accepted the decision, I expressed my disappointment that the wheels on a truck I purchased for nearly $90,000 were already showing significant wear after less than two years. Rather than simply delivering the bad news and moving on, Ben took it upon himself to explore every possible option. He contacted multiple wheel contractors, discussed the situation with his management team, and even reached out to Toyota on my behalf. He genuinely cared about finding a solution and never stopped advocating for me throughout the process. In the end, Ben was able to secure approval from Toyota--not just for one wheel, but for the replacement of all four wheels. That outcome was far beyond anything I expected. Customer service like this is rare today. Ben went above and beyond in every sense of the phrase, demonstrating professionalism, persistence, and a true commitment to customer satisfaction. Because of him, I will continue bringing my vehicles here for service and will recommend this dealership to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you, Ben Thurston, for your outstanding service and dedication. You have earned a customer for life.

The power windows stopped operating, so I took my car to Jim Coleman Toyota for new fuses…read more The techs claimed that all of the fuses had been replaced and a diagnostic test was necessary. In total, I paid more than $400 just to have my fuses replaced. What's worse: the next day the headlights were not working. This time I took my Toyota Corolla LE to a trusted mechanic. He showed me that two fuses needed for the headlights relay were missing. He also showed me that simply pressing a button above the window controls would unlock all windows and that I had not needed new fuses at all. This dealership should be cited for poor business practices.

I've had good experiences here overall across two purchases and one sale. Last summer, I bought a…read moreconvertible that was hard to find here in the DC area, so I had it shipped through the Carmax network from a few states away. I knew going in that I would pay more at Carmax than at some other dealerships, but in the end, the extra cost (the shipping fee plus Carmax just being pricier in general) was worth it. My salesman, Marcus, was super nice and chill. I didn't feel rushed or pressured at all. The sales staff let me take a longer test drive than the normally allowed 20 min, and I appreciated their flexibility. After all, if I'm going to drop thousands of dollars on a vehicle, I need sufficient time to test drive it, visually inspect it, etc. I also appreciate the fact that Marcus and the crew did NOT drill license plate holes in my front bumper (the state my car shipped from does not require a front tag). He knew the car was looking sharp, and he guessed correctly that I would want to avoid drilling holes if possible (I found a magnet solution). He handed me my front tag as well as an order for Carmax tag installation if I changed my mind. That is good customer service. Now to the reason why I don't regret having paid a bit more at Carmax. My car ended up having two issues: an engine emissions issue (check engine alert) that required Carmax to update a couple of parts, and a paint bubble on the rear quarter panel. I'm thankful that I noticed both issues within the 90-day warranty period. For the paint issue, I brought the car back in, a service manager looked at it, and he said right away they'd cover the repair (either through a repair shop of their choosing or of my choosing). Again, I appreciated the flexibility. I was a little surprised they didn't write up paperwork promising to cover the repair, but sure enough, at the designated time, my chosen repair shop called the service manager, and the service manager made the payment. How about that? A handshake deal that came through. But seriously, Carmax, the paperwork route is the better one. Some pro tips: Make an appointment online. Unless it's a slow day like a Monday, do not just stroll in and expect quick service. I made two appointments (for two separate test drives), and a salesman greeted me within minutes of my arrival each time. Another tip: take longer than 20 minutes for your test drive if needed. They are flexible (and they do not ride with you during the test drive). I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a bit disappointing to have to bring a new (to me) car in twice for repairs, but they did live up to their warranty. I'm also just a tad bitter that they offered me a low price for a trade-in/sale a few years ago, but, hey, I didn't have to take their offer. All in all, I would not hesitate to shop here again. You might pay a bit more, but at least you get a 90-day warranty. Some other local dealerships offer nothing after you drive off the lot. My only other piece of advice (not Carmax-related) is to shop Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) if possible. The particular car I wanted was too old for that kind of certification, so I went the Carmax route. Cheers.

However, I was forced to go to the dealer after an unnamed company sent me the wrong part for my car. I called this place and the gentleman told me that the part that I needed was the last one in stock. He agreed to hold it for me while I traveled there to retrieve the part. The price was steep but it is what it is and necessary so I can get my inspection completed so I can come home. The service was quick and efficient and I left as a satisfied customer. The fix is to reprogram the Drivetrain Control Module, which takes 30 min according to the letter from Chrysler. I go online and the earliest appointment is for 3 weeks from now. The website says I can show up to the Express Service Lane first thing in the morning without an appointment and they'll do it that day. I show up the next morning and when I politely ask if they can do it today, the incredibly obnoxious guy at the counter (a short white guy) says in an extremely aggressive and mocking tone that they can't do it before my appointment date, but I can leave the car and they'll do it on my appointment day three weeks from now! Seriously, leave my car at the dealer for three weeks to do a 30 min safety recall? And of course he didn't even offer a loaner car. So I took it to Cryswell Jeep dealer in Gaithersburg where a very helpful and courteous lady gave me an appointment for next week. You can be sure that I'll never go to DARCARS Rockville Jeep again. To DARCARS Rockville management, if your front desk employees are just going to be brainless jerks only capable of typing some info on a computer, you might as well replace them all with AI Chatbots. It will be much cheaper for you and a much more enjoyable and efficient experience for your customers.

Maybe what they need are new shop foremans and service managers who are honest and helpful.
