Favorite: crab cakes, pancakes, Hit or miss: service. Depends on your waiter and on top of that, how many tables they are responsible for, and their attitude of the day. Food is usually on point! Don't sleep on the crab cakes! It might seem lik a random diner in Ellicott City, but the crab cakes are filled with jumbo lump crab meat and seasoned well. Breakfast foods are usually good - pancakes, waffles, omelettes, oh my! And if you're not stuffed from your main dish, try the crazy milkshakes. Ok WoW WoW and Wow, what a time and meal. Now what I'm about to let everyone know about the Ellicott City diner, no one would ever expect. So first impression pulling up to the EC diner the exterior and interior was very clean, was quickly greeted and seated as we walked in, table wasn't cleaned yet upon our request of a booth, but the hostess quickly had no problem cleaning it for us, so that was very good service before sitting down. So then I opened the menu and WoW so many great choices, now when your hungry it makes it hard to choose, so while I needed some more time I ordered a Orange crush! Man was that a good drink, I felt like I was at a bar or something lol, just something you wouldn't expect from a diner, but I wanted to give it a try and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a crab cake and it was the best damn crab cake, crab cake was huge with lots of crab meat and a great flavor. After happening in to the diner a month ago, my husband and I decided to bring our friends for a Friday night dinner. The last time, I got one of the massive milkshakes and the churro French toast. This time, I just got the churro French toast (because the milkshake was huge!) and my husband got the Mac and cheese pancakes. Both were equally phenomenal in their own ways. The best part of the dinner was when our server, Oscar, brought out a cake pop for the toddler with us. It was just the sweetest gesture and was so appreciated -- his service was incredible, but that put it over the top. We can't wait to come back and try some different items. We made it to EC diner for the first time for a weekday dinner and we were surprised we hadn't heard of this place before! Apparently they opened during COVID. We got the crabby fries to start, and they were delicious- solid 7.5/10, with real crab. The waffle fries could have been a bit crispy, but they were still tasty and seasoned well. We both ordered burgers- I got the 420 burger and my husband got the crispy cheeseburger. Both burgers were dry, unfortunately. For dessert, we tried a chocolate mousse cake from the display (also a bit dry) and the brownie shake. The brownie shake was great- the milkshake itself was okay, but the ice cream sandwich it came with was delicious and the brownies were also very very good. The food was reasonably priced and we left with half the food in takeout containers. Our waiter was also very friendly and kept bringing me iced tea refills, which I appreciated. I would definitely be back, but next time I would try some of the Greek or breakfast dishes. read more

EC Diner is a must try. I went here on a Friday morning & ordered two Western Omelets with American cheese inside & mushrooms added. The omelet comes with a side home fries and toast. The omelets were delicious & hearty. I loved that the omelet had a good consistency of cheese in it without being too much. I cannot stand a dry omelet. The strawberry cheesecake french toast was sooo good! The waitress actually recommended it for my husband and I'm so glad she did. The cheesecake drizzle was so tasty. Okay..... where do I begin... EC Diner sold me with their MASSIVE menu. My boyfriend and I figured we come here and try a little bit of everything on the menu. Man what a disappointment. It's story time, pull up a chair... Drinks The disrespect to put my Bellini in a red wine glass and not add a strawberry garnish for kicks and giggles. My boyfriend order a Dr Pepper and got a diet, whatever that was. The sprite was terrible. I would've went with water but I didn't trust it. Appetizers So blown they were sold out of the TexMex egg rolls. Moving on, the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and the spicy sauce was yummy. The Jersey fries were dressed up with cheese and gravy. It was good for what it was. Sandwich The Migon BLT was a piece of flank steak. Well prepared and cook but the season was non existing. Salad My house salad was more like an apartment salad. They literally just took onions and peppers and slapped it on top of my king size bed of lettuce. The ranch dressing was super thick and creamy in the worse way. Entrees The best part of my chicken Chesapeake was the crab meat. I don't believe in wasting food but I was picking through my food hoping to find something worth eating . The signature imperial sauce tasted like honey mustard sauce and the chicken was lifeless meaning NO FLAVOR. Oh the sides.... The corn was vibrant but tasteless, the mash potatoes was literally mash ...potatoes.. end of story. The broccoli was chilling in the water it was sitting in. Salt and pepper did no justice to this food Boujee Shakes The shakes look exactly how they sounded, AMAZING. Omg the presentation was torch. HOWEVER, not worth the hype. Underneath the treats I just had white cream. Their was a lack of milk and shake. The treats were poor quality. No sugar or spice or anything nice. Acceptable diner breakfast, fun desserts food kids, wretched "Greek food". The kitchen is really unreliable here. On a good day, you get a facsimile of what you order. Some days, you get whatever the kitchen has lying around. Tonight, we ordered the Greek combo platter, which was supposed to come with a spinach pie, pastitsio, and moussaka. We got a spinach pie and a pile of ziti noodles with meat sauce and bechamel under an Italian marinara. When we pointed out that 1/3 of the platter was missing, our server said the kitchen ran out of things. We had to ask for a replacement. One of the sides, oven roasted potatoes were almost raw. We couldn't cut them with a knife. Bottom line, skip anything Greek and get a shake or some pancakes. read more

Inside was bustling and welcoming. There was a good vibe here. I was worried it would be a little rundown or dirty (my previous experiences in diners tended to be this way), but quite the opposite. I had breakfast here with a friend and we were greeted by a courteous waitress. The menu here is very large ... I guess that makes sense for a diner. The menu has a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items to choose from. What I noticed was a lot of sweet items that kids would like, so probably a good place for kids to eat. They seem to go crazy with the number of special milkshakes! I ended up going with something simple and ordered French Toast with Pork Roll. The French toast helping was good ... three thick slices. Pork Roll being offered seemed interesting, as I think that's a Philly thing, but kind of neat they offered that option. The portions were good, prices reasonable. The interior is a little updated and nicer but the food is overall low quality. The meat lover's omelette tasted like cardboard. The coffee was awful. We came especially for the milkshake! Yum!!! I came across an article featuring EC diner having crazy milkshakes so my husband and I decided to try and grabbed lunch there. We opened the menu and there are tons to choose from, took me about 20mins to decide what to get! We ordered bbq pulled pork sandwich and chicken parmesan sub which are both awesome and of course 1 milkshake to share. It is big enough for two. We got the strawberry cheesecake milkshake and it was worth every calorie! I can't even begin to describe how good it was, it's for you to try. I like the ambiance of the place, they have an area where it really has a diner feels with bar, booths and stuff like that and the other part of the restaurant is almost like a fine dining area. People there are so welcoming and our staff is nice and made sure we are well taken care of! Wow just wow. Don't go here unless you want to be ignored and have eyes rolled at you for coming in an entire hour before they closed to get a milkshake. We weee even going to get it to go. We even had them seat us at the counter so we wouldn't dirty a table but instead got side eyes and sighs and then completely ignored for 10 mins. Finally I just got up to get it at the front desk and leave but apparently I was disturbing their side work. I really want to like this place but I just don't. It's so disappointing. We have been here 8+ times, each time trying something different and hoping we just chose the wrong thing on the menu, but each time just leaving feeling gross and stupid for continuing to go back. I'm so tired of overpaying for comfort food that is just gross. Cold fries, cold/dry chicken fingers, tasteless bland breakfast food, over seasoned/spiced vegetables. Just bland, barely edible and a waste of money. They nickel and dime all over. Beware of the cost of sides $$$. Some menu options are a good deal but only if you want a ton of less than mediocre food. You won't pay less than $20/person after tax and tip. I can get much better food elsewhere for much less. Breakfast items are appealing to kids and the decor is nice. Service is also usually good, but the food sucks. Kids always ask to go, but we won't be back. Two visits, two perfect performances! First time, a Saturday evening about two weeks ago, we wanted to eat outside, but rain was forecast, so we gave the EC Diner tent a try. Short wait, good socially distanced table near the band. We didnt even know they had a band! Our favorite local rocker, Spike! I have to watch their facebook for their music nights. Staff was friendly, attentive, and quick. We had the muffaletta which was a good version on ciabatta with plenty of olive salad tapenade on it. Very fresh and yummy! Fresh hot fries! And a big serving. Tasty alcoholic drinks, too. By the way, it poured, and we were perfectly comfortable and dry. Oh, everyone was safely masked with no fussing, just a great relaxed atmosphere. Second time was last evening, we were going to get takeout up the street and realized Thursday is Greek Night here. We got a gyro platter and lamb chops to go. Both delicious and generous! In this area, gyros have come and gone with various versions, and this was the most tender i have ever had anywhere that i recall! Very flavorful, and thin sliced which showcased the tender interior next to a crispier edge. Fresh tasting tzatziki sauce, toasty pita, and tender fluffy flavored rice. Really a delight! My wife loved the many little lamb chops, too, though i didnt ask her more than that, so i cant say more. She did tell me that the staff was (again) very friendly and attentive and efficient. She drove right home and the food was still warm and perfectly packed. Oh, the baklava was flakey, fresh, as super-sweet as it should be :-), and delicious too! These are our first two visits since EC Diner took over from Double-T at this location. We love it! The previous menu was more old-style diner. This feels new, with old standards on the menu, plus new fare and new flair in the recipes. Plenty of parking right at the restaurant, and more in the rest of the shopping center. read more

EC Diner is a little gem located in the back of a dimly lit parking lot full of diamonds. We came explicitly looking for dessert after our sub par dinner to cheer us up. EC Diner did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated immediately. Although we didn't partake, we sat at a cute booth with a jukebox for entertainment. I ordered my dessert and was told it would be a bit of a wait. I appreciated being told in advance which helped me to be patient while waiting for my tasty treat. It took about 15-20 minutes but when it arrived, it was worth the wait. I felt like the server was floating on a cloud as he walked it over to me. The downside is, it got messy. I'm not sure if it's a messy dessert or because I ate it like a 5 year old but either way, it was delicious. I ate my cheesecake and sipped my milkshake with a huge smile in my face. I definitely recommend this place for dessert. I plan on returning to actually try the food. Major plus, the bathroom was really clean just FYI. A must try. All around great experience. read more

EC Diner opened up sometime last year and replaced the old diner. Parking can be a little hard when busy and it does get packed during the weekend. I ordered a gyro, snickers cheesecake and tried a little bit of the funfetti milkshake. The gyro was surprisingly good and the snickers cheesecake was delicious. The milkshake not so much. We've been here a few times since this location changed names and ownership. Maybe I order the wrong things but each time, it seems like they just miss the mark. The staff is great, the menu just doesn't impress me. Today I selected the Lunch Combo which is soup, side salad and half sandwich. I chose the chicken and rice soup and the chicken salad on wheat. The soup was good. The Greek dressing for the salad had no taste at all. The bread was cut weird so there was a half slice on the top and a small triangle on the bottom which made it impossible to pick up. I ended up eating it with a fork because I was hungry but the chicken salad was not great.... basically mashed chicken and mayo. No onion or celery for taste and texture. No seasoning at all. I had heard great things about EC Diner but I was very disappointed this weekend when we got restaurant week take out. I'll start by saying I had to call the restaurant over a course of an hour over 29 times just to get an answer. We almost gave up but I decided to try one more time and they happened to answer. The restaurant week menu looked so awesome, I ordered one of each salad and for entrees a seafood festival and crab cakes and lamb chops. We never got the seafood festival, they put a crab cake and fried shrimp instead. And both meals came with a plain baked potato with no fixings, it wasn't even sliced open. Just a whole cooked potato. I can atleast say the crab cake was very good but the lamb chops were tough and the fries shrimp overcooked. I enjoyed the salads, I kinda wish that was all we ordered. The Maryland crab soup just tasted like canned tomato vegetable soup with barely any canned crab floating around. The cannoli was yummy so thank God they did that as the dessert. The service at the restaurant was alright, the lady at the cash register was kind of rude and the guy at the host stand seemed unorganized. Overall, I wanted to go back for lunch one day before restaurant week ended and I don't think I'll even do that after the dinner we had. Updating after our last visit a few months ago on a Saturday evening where the place was jam packed. The server was new and we spent over 1.5-2 hours total time and waited for our food for what seemed like an eternity. The waiter tried his best so can't fault him but the kitchen was backed up big time. Personally with such a long wait I think Mgmt should step in and try to make amends with a comp'd dish or two...but nobody picked up on it. Went for a Saturday morning birthday brunch with the family. The hosts (all of them were so incredibly polite and pleasant. We chose to sit outside in the tent (pandemic ...). We were very pleasantly surprised at how few tables they have inside their huge tent, and how far apart the tables are. Waiter came and he too was really great. Answered all of our stupid questions and brought our stuff. The portions, all of them, are huge. Really big. Large. Big. The fun part was that our son was in the mood for a shake, so he ordered one of their "Krazy Shakes", or whatever they're called. We were expecting a normal but large-ish shake. but it was friggin' huge with tons of toppings (an entire ice cream sandwich was actually a topping!). Everyone at the table next to us had their jaws dropping when the waiter brought it out. We were just laughing. GO!! And GO AGAIN!!! We definitely will. Delivery review: Bangers and blunders: great if you know what to buy. Food came super late because they lost the ticket. Gave the poor DoorDash driver a bonus to their tip for waiting. My food came out amazing. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger with waffle fries. They didn't skimp on the bacon and the burger had some heft to it. My fries had the same taste and consistency as Arby's fries. If you like Arby's French fries, you should order the waffle fries--if not, avoid em. My brother got the chicken gyro and thought it was wonderful. Another dish with generous proportions. My sister in law got the Turkey BLT. The portion was generous, but the Turkey was just "meh." My Mom's open faced Turkey sandwich with gravy was left mostly uneaten. Not good. It was also missing the cranberry sauce she ordered. My wife and father got the chicken and waffle Benedict. Surprisingly, these portions were not generous. 1/2 a waffle, small portion of lackluster chicken, and no syrup. Needless to say, they won't be ordering that meal again. My wife also got a strawberry shake--she said it was more milk than strawberry flavor, but it wasn't bad. She didn't say it was particularly good either, so I'm guessing it's a solid 3. I would 100% order at the EC diner again. I want to know what else on the giant menu is a buy and what is a pass. So far they're 2.5 out of 5-but I'll round up until I've tried more food. read more

So we finally made our way over to the Diner! We were welcomed with a very warm greeting and seated right away in a booth. We started with the crab egg rolls, which were exceptional!! All crab meat in a delicious crispy and flaky flour skin. We also ordered the turkey club and chopped salad. I added chicken and bacon to my salad. The only flaw was their homemade Caesar salad dressing. It was like mayonnaise. I reordered the ranch which was a little better. Everything was so...good! We ordered the Cinnabon cheesecake to go!
